How long has it been since you started learning and how many characters approx?
Havent been able to as of yet. I haven't had a chance to rebuy it as of yet. I'm hoping to have it by april 12th though. Where I'll study like a mad man until june lol.

You could watch Chinese dramas with English subtitles.
This thread has kept on topic really well.
Does anyone not know the laws of travel? Half of the price is the time of the year lol.
its not about the time of year….It's about flexibility. You have to speak directly to them (ticket middleman) and be able to leave and return a week early or later to get he cheapest flight. This is down to a handful of variables and not at all based on any calendar events with the exceptions of Christmas and New Years. I know this as I've done this several times for myself and a handful of times for friends and family. I often get the tickets up to half the average going rate.
Eg my last flight was 700. If I left a day earlier or later it would have been 1400.
My dad is a Nato representative and has to fly to europe 4 times a year, pretty sure I know what I'm doing.
oh and here's some bulletproof logic right here. Lol seriously what is that?
Does he have it paid or reimbursed? Does he have to fly in and out on a tough schedule? What link does your fathers travelling possibly effect you? Unless of course you personally book all his flights lol
You could watch Chinese dramas with English subtitles.
That did not help me at all. For other languages, it actually works quite well but Chinese (Mandarin) is so fast, you can not really follow the subtitles.

You are wrong. So wrong. So wrong that it's painful.
@Smudger:

The middlemen can only knock off 10% off their price. And this is travel agents and middlemen at travel websites who take your "discount" off their own cut. Good luck trying to get British Airways knock off a hundred pounds the next time you go back to Rainland.
@Smudger:

And Lent/Easter. Spring break. Fall break. And any local festivals in the place you're going to. Which are all, you know, calendar events.

Totally agree with this though. "My dad has been to Nigeria for business so I know what a flight to Johannesburg costs like. At any time of the year. hurr durr"
@Smudger:

Good credentials right there. Doesn't stop him being wrong, but still.

It means my dad has, I'm going to assume based on the, ya know, 30 years of traveling experience, kind of knows every goddamn angle of traveling, which then would be used to advice me my best options. What you're suggesting is bargaining with customer service, which is good to attempt but by no means reliable. Also "flexibility" is an option on most if not majority airline's websites, directly, which is kind of obvious, some even say it possible can save you money. Unfortunately this is not the case for me at least.

Yes because his job consists of a lot of international air travel which is kind of what I'm trying to do. And yes, it's his responsibility to pay for it and be reimbursed later depending on whether he was reasonable or not. (The more you save within the allocated budget, the more reward you get during the bonus at the end of the year). So his experience is not only relevant but completely reliable, thank you.
You'd imagine that a state envoy from the US wouldn't have to book his own flights

You might think that, yes, but the U.S. government is absolutely horrid about these sort of things. My mother works for the government, and when she travels, she has to take whatever shoddy itinerary and stay in whatever third-rate hotels she can manage to on the budget she's given. In fact, I even seem to recall her once complaining that she wasn't even allowed to spring for nicer accommodations with her own money; she's basically required to let the government 'pay for her' when on official trips, except they hardly do at all.
The entire system is screwy, of course, this is just yet another facet of that.
In other news, I think this thread might have set some sort of record with how rapidly it veered completely off topic.

All my threads do, so it's kind of normal for me hahahaha
How long do you plan to stay in each country? Would be nice to hear about your impressions and compare them to mine.
Not long I imagine, well…aside from Greece. I should though at least get a decent impression of most of them. Aside from Turkey since we'd only be going to Istanbul, and I kinda doubt we'll get a good grasp of Romania either. Probably just Bucharest, meaning we go through Transylvania by train/bus or whatever, stay a bit Wallachia, but no Moravia at all.

Stop making us all feel poor again lol.
So i'd say that casual palace remark cinches it.
Khaini is by far the richest dude on the entire forum

Obviously, the only proper response to this is "Please have her ask her parents if this awesome guy I know on an online forum can crash at their place when he visits the area."

Sounds interesting, i spent a few days each in most of the countries you mentioned, depending on the route i took with the car from Germany to Turkey and while i would not say that my impressions are profound or anything, it was still a very interesting time.

Well he's hopin around and its not like she owns a palace in EACH place in that area…...........as far as I know
I don't think I'd really want advice about hoofing around the poorest region of Europe and economically depressed Greece, from Canadians in a palace lol, no offense.

If she sits like royalty she probably doesn't know a lot about taking crappy buses and looking up cheap hostels.

Khani what do you even mean by "Palace", you said it so matter of factly, like not a colorful descriptor.
Don't you just mean a big house? A mansion manybe?
Also "a palace", are their MORE palaces these people have??
Khani's friend is the heiress to an illustrious maple syrup fortune.

Well he did consider 50K to be near a slaves wage so it's not impossible that he really means a castle with tins and towers. And lots of 'em. I'm sorry khaini but your princess is in another palace lol
this thread is so painfully dull now

I mean her parents legitimately own a palace. It's not that out of place. My landlord in Italy son owned a Castle. I probably could pull up the name but I'd have to ask my dad. And yes it was a legitimate castle he lived in and had tours and shit.
Khani's friend is the heiress to an illustrious maple syrup fortune.
I was worried you know more about me than I want you too, then I saw syrup…

My girlfriends ex boyfriend is a charter accountant, he makes like 6 figures easily if you're interested..LOL Though you'd have to move to Hong kong hahahahha
LOL, when did this happen? Don't tell me that Khani is Thurston Howell III.
I was saying it was difficult to live a comfortable lifestyle with 50k salary. In my area at least.

Why don't you two just move to a palace in Canada? It's not like people exist in Canada, so they're all vacant and ripe for the taking
Doesn't bigfoot live in Canada.
I own a fedora. But, I'm not a nice guy, nor a "Nice Guy".
I'm a sentimental old creep.
So he has a friend who owns a palace and one who owns a castle (and counting). He has six figure earning friends. He is the son of a jetsetting diplomat.
Of course 50k is not enough for a comfortable life for him.
I have friends who live comfortably in New York City earning less than that. And on the West Coast. And pretty much every metropolitan area in the country.
The only thing that comes to my mind while reading this thread, is that being rich sure sounds friggin' awesome.
I also want a water bed filled with money

The problem is…a portion of them are French.

Is this like one of those zen things, like what is the sound of one hand clapping?
I mean, if it were a water bed… filled with money... would it still be a water bed? Would that not make it, I suppose, a money bed?
Unless, I guess, you meant you wanted a water bed that simply had money floating around in the water, although that seems like it would be a bit of a waste to me.

um…. yes, zen riddle, not me being a cretin who can't explain things thoroughly.
Anyway, you passed, now answer me this riddle; What is so hot it's cool, but is so cool it's hot?

Well it's all about what you consider to be living comfortable
What a guy who's always had lots of money considers to be essential a working stiff probably considers luxuary. And a poor person to be unattainable dreams

A pomeranian during summer time?
Oh come on guys, you're really making me blush here :(. IM NOT RICH.
And to me, living comfortably would be a 4 bedroom household with a refrigerator, washer/dryer/microwave/stove(Hopefully gas stove) and the same internet speed I have right now;
look guys;

Lol i think your definition of rich is probably not in tune with the regular world
If i remeber correctly your household presently pulls in close to 200K a year. If that's not rich then what is

Closer to 150, my uncle pulls that. And rich would be able to afford a house/summer house/3 car's that are considered luxury. I mean I bought a 2013 elantra but it's no 6 series bmw >_>;
I mean I bought a 2013 elantra
See. Our definitions of comfortable differ. I consider a 2005 elantra comfortable.
And why the hell do you want a four bedroom house?! Are you going to move your parents with you, or is your family planning on overdrive?
Also, your internet speed is "faster than 99% of the US". Irony, thy name is Khaini.

OH NOOOO If I were rich I'd have a Rolls Royce and a plastic surgery super model wife and three mansions as well as vacation homes on two Hawaiian islands. But noope, I have to settle with a BMW and a regular wife with designer clothes with occasional botox and one mansion as well as a vacation home in Canada. Boo hoo hoo I'm not rich. Oh please pity me…
PS: Don't ever say "I'm not rich"...ever again or I'll find some way to summon japanese horror monster powers, crawl out of your computer screen and strangle you.
