So it's 8AM and I got up almost two hours ago. For a holiday week, this is very unusual. Then why're you up so early, Charm?
Well I'll tell you, I was meant to be going shopping in the city with my friends today but for many reasons they've all cancelled. I can't blame them, being poor, being ill and having a broken toe is bad enough for them really….but now I'm at my aunt's (having had to stay here so I'd be able to meet them in time) feeling a bit imposing xD

But I can overlook it because we finally bought a house! YAY! So in the next two months or so I'll be away from my current, horrid village and back in the town with my friends and family! Know what else that means? I'll be able to go out walking again, which means I'll be more active again, which means soon I'll be back down to my near-perfect weight. YAY EVERYTHING IS OKAY AGAIN…oh hang on....leaves to make tea on cloud nine

I certainly wouldn't want to go around referring to everyone I meet as "teme," lol. though my mom only laughs at me when I say impolite phrases such as "kuso" just to bug her cuz she basically said "nobody in Japan says this." It will be nice if one day I learn it well years from now. The last gift my grandma ever sent me was a book about flowers and it'd be cool to actually understand.

Nah not this one, Kenny. It's literally just one long street. (Actually if you google it, it's the longest street in the UK) There are only two roads out of it and both don't have pavements, so it's dangerous to walk by the road.

Also I've had problems in the past with other young people and since then I've been scared to go out alone, or at least without my sister's dog. In the town I'm moving to I know the entire area and I can't walk down the street without recognizing someone.

I feel ya, charmed! We're going back to our old house, which we lived in till I was 10, in November … only thing is, that house is over 100 years old. It would have been best to just build a completely new one, but we wouldn't be allowed to build it as big as it is now, so we basically just completely rebuilt it from the inside out.
We've been at it since late February/early March.

Well it isn't that old I guess, like most of the town it's Victorian. It's just in a realy bad way ^^ But we're used to doing this sort of thing~ my current bedroom used to have graffiti everywhere and only half a wall on one side xD

I was nervous and alone at school.

A change in orientation schedule means my moving schedule gets fucked up and EVERYTHING has to happen on Thursday… which is going to be one hell of a long day.

Turns out I'm not getting paid until the 31st which leaves me really poor and practically unable to go to that concert I was talking about.

Why, on a day that was supposed to be full of wonder and excitement, does everything have to go wrong?

Almost too respectful, were that possible. My personal favorite is "konoyaro" because imitating Chopper seems to bug my mom the most. XD One time I wrote a research paper about the influence of Japanese culture on anime and manga. :D

Gosh, I didn't even entertain the thought that school could take up this much time when you actually study properly at home, instead of just lazing away and doing only maybe half of your homework. I came home at 4PM and I spent the next four hours just reading and doing today's share of work, which was relatively light..

How on earth am I going to keep this up for a month and a half? It's exhausting. My head hurts.

And once again, my mother's drunk as hell. After recent complaints from the landlord, I tried shuting her up by puking up my dinner, because she spent and hour yelling at me for eating the food she herself gave to me to eat.

I am so FRUSTRATED. Why is this university's administration so messed up?

I'm doing tutorial bidding now. I have all my tutorials except for this one last module. There are only a few timeslots for it, and all but two of them clash with my other lectures, the timing of which is inflexible. So OBVIOUSLY I need to take one of those two, right? It's not like I have a choice, it's not like I'm saying "oh it's at 8am so I don't wanna go" or "it's my free day and I don't want to go to school just for it". Those are the only slots I can take! Problem is that those I COULD take were all filled up, so I didn't get them.

So I emailed the lecturer of that module, whom I do know 'personally', and asked him for help. Unfortunately it seems that many other students also need those two slots because their other classes clash with the other slots which nobody wants. So he can't make allowances. He said that I can either

a) See if vacancies open up in the timeslots that I ~~want~~ NEED, which is extremely ridiculously unlikely
b) Make an official appeal for the timeslots that I need, but he said this is unlikely to succeed because "there are many factors involved", or
c) Drop the clashing module.

I am not. going. to do. c. Not after the NIGHTMARE I have gone through trying to bid for six modules and failing because the stupid unreasonable system won't let me bid for more than five. Now you want me to drop that, so I'll have only four modules AGAIN? And bidding is over so I won't even be able to try bidding for that sixth module I wanted. I appealed to the department head for that sixth module but I might not get it even then. So basically you're telling me I waited one year and went through that hellish nightmare for this?

I am so infuriated right now I feel so ill and I want to kick everything UGH.

I'm freaking bored. I might walk half-way across the town to get to this one gym and get a membership there, but it depends on how things go. Incidentally, I don't understand how people can jog alongside the road and not give the slightest shit about anyone. Maybe they're just overflowing with self-confidence, plain don't care or are blissfully optimistic but I'm both too self-aware and mistrusting to want to subjugate myself to that kind of attention. Walking, alone, is bad enough.

Maybe it's common in other countries, I don't know about that, but I have never, EVER, heard of that here in Germany. I don't think I have ever read a car's manual in my whole life, and neither have all the people I know. Sure I've seen my car's manual before (and the one of my driving school's car), I know where it is in case I ever need it for some reason, but … why would it help me to read that, let alone two hours a day? What the fuck? Seriously, what the fuck?
Sorry that I'm stressing this so much, but I just … UGH WHAT THE HELL how is READING THE MANUAL supposed to help you learn HOW TO DRIVE. It's like telling someone to read a book about painting and expecting him to be an awesome artist afterwards.
No, scratch that, even THAT makes more sense than reading a CAR'S MANUAL JESUS CHRIST.

yeah, my friend would probably laugh if he was told to read a manual.
he just had a fuckload of lessons, passed his theory test with little trouble, and then passed his practical test.
no extra learning involved, just regular old experience and the will to keep trying.

i agree that making you read a manual seems pretty bizarre when you don't actually "Need" it.

Yeah… there's a written exam that we have to pass about the rules, and from cover to the end, this manual is 108 pages. But as with everything, the more boring it is, the harder it is to read through quickly. I was never able to focus on reading whenever I've tried it. Normally we have to attend 30 hours of class time to learn the contents, but since I'm 18, I can skip that. Unfortunately I still have to read this manual anyway because otherwise I'd fail the written test. He said to me that he doesn't want to have to teach me this stuff cuz it's enough of a pain trying to teach me how to drive (which is understandable if I were in his position; it's miserable for the both of us to have to take time out of the day to practice). This crap is so unbearable --> resent of brother --> extreme short(er) temper --> getting mad at everyone --> resent entire family. I feel insane. It's never going to reach that point but I feel like I could snap and kill someone when I get this frustrated. If I could do something right, it might not be as bad, but I. can't. drive. I'll get myself and maybe someone else killed because I'm too stupid to learn. I hate the way he says the same thing, though. Talking down to me in that voice. even though I know that he can't be wishy-washy about it. Back when dad was teaching bro how to drive, dad was screaming at him A LOT. If you don't correct mistakes, it'll just get worse. I know that, but it just completely shatters my confidence.

Yeah, we have written exams, too, of course, but … the manual didn't help AT ALL for that. Seriously, no one ever thought of reading the manual. Why would you?!
All I (we) did was pratice with old exams. I had 100 of them, and I think I got through all twice. Back then, it was mandatory to buy this "book". We had to do 20 or so exams each week and got them back during class.
After the few hours of class ended, our teacher handed us the solution template so we could correct our exams by ourselves and be able to practice on our own.
I think I was one of the very last who did it with actual paper. The group that took the written exam after me had to use computers, but it was still the same thing. It was just more handy.

I don't really understand why your father is teaching you, though. Again, I don't know about other countries, but is that even allowed? I mean you're driving without a license and without a teacher next to you. You wouldn't be allowed to do that here. Well, I think you could get away with it if you only practiced on your own property, but that'd be pretty useless anyways.
I wouldn't have wanted my parents to teach me how to drive. They are patient and all, but … no. It was bad enough to be forced to drive around with them next to for one year (since I got my license with 17, I wasn't allowed to drive alone until I turned 18).
They were really trying to help me and to sound like they were annoyed, but I was. Imagining having a person sitting next to me literally SCREAMING at me is just horrible.

Oh no, my dad isn't the one teaching me, my brother is. which makes it that much more unpleasant. I haven't exactly had the most hunky dory dandy relationship with him. What a notion eh? Making me fear for my life while driving in a damn parking lot. Two of the worst things in the world combined into one. Joy. I was just mentioning dad because I think that there is some necessity to having your teacher be harsh on you and that was my example. Obviously I wasn't always in the car with them, but I was often sitting the car while dad still had to supervise, and boy was it ugly. Whenever dad or anyone in the house is yelling, I cringe even if it's not always directed at me.

I guess I kinda read what I wanted to read. I don't have any older siblings since I'm the big sister, so I didn't even think of that possibility and immediately decided that your dad was teaching you XD

Either way, this is really, really bad. Learning how to drive is hard enough as it is (at least it was for me. Sure, there are some naturals out there who just do it and never had any problems). You shouldn't be put under this kind of stress, too. It only makes you fear driving more and more, and that's not helping at all. On the contrary, it's making it more likely that you screw up.
I'm not saying you WILL screw up, but whenever I'm under that kind of stress I make every mistake imaginable. It just doesn't have to be that way. Learning how to drive can be fun, too. Driving is fun. But under THESE circumstances everyone would be terrified of it.
You shouldn't connect driving to something like this. If this goes on, you may never be comfortable driving, even after you get your license and can drive on your own.
I know I was very nervous at first, I screwed up a lot, but I got better over time. But I wasn't under so much pressure, I wasn't afraid of screwing up, I wasn't being yelled at and all that. It's horrible.

Do you have to be taught by your brother? Can't someone else do it, someone you're more comfortable with?
I hate to say it, but … what about an actual teacher? I know, it costs a small fortune, but aren't you actually required to have a certain amount of driving lessons with a teacher in order to get your license anyway? Those lessons should be enough, too, so you don't require extra lessons with someone else. I know they were enough for me.

I forget how long the instructor lessons are, but I recall thinking that the total time for lessons seem a bit short and that it's gonna take much more than that to learn how to do this. That's part of why I'm driving without the instructor. Dad also didn't want to pay for lessons when he heard about the price (not that we can't afford it but he is of the belief that you don't need to pay money to learn it). He did ask me if it was possible to take just the instructor lessons and not the class time, but I never looked into it because it's a pain to find out the information. Took at least half an hour when I called the service center to figure out what I needed for the instructor's permit. The behind-the-wheel instruction is also not required if you are 18 or older.

The reason why it's my bro is for the sake of convenience. Dad is a busy guy what with the new house plans, not to mention stock trading. He's always spending time at the other house. Mom is working at Compellent the whole day. I must say, it's way less stressful in the couple times she instructed me, but she doesn't want to teach me. In recent years that has pretty much been her attitude towards me. She won't help unless nobody else can do it, and to her it's much easier to pawn off this crap onto my bro. This also adds to the tension because bro is very unpleasant when he's being forced to do something he has no interest in. Like the time we went to the Zoo (and ruined my experience of it, needless to say). Since I have to go to the gym every day with my brother, we just do the practice afterward. So really, for the time being, there's no other choice. God I wish that bro had gotten that job offer from earlier so I wouldn't have to put up with him, but that's a whole other issue entirely.

Aah, I see.
But still, how are you expected to learn real driving if you can only do it in a parking lot, anyway? Well, you can learn how to park, sure, that's important, but it's not like you're gonna spend most of the time parking your car… you have to drive on the STREETS. You have to deal with other drivers, you have to be able to deal with speed, with confusing traffic situations ... all that. You can't be expected to learn how to drive if you aren't able to at least do that, seriously.
Again, practicing in a parking lot is good, but if it's the only thing you've got, it just isn't nearly enough. Everyone should see that.

Well for the parking lot, I also did some turning and accelerating, keeping on the right side of the road and looking at my mirrors and keeping focused, which is difficult for me. Right now I still can't do it very well and looking down at my speedometer makes me veer. I fear that bro's going to take me out on an actual road soon because of his words to me after today's nightmarish session. If I can't stick to the proper etiquette of driving while in a parking lot with no cars, I dread to think what will happen when there's actual cars. I can't believe I'm saying this but oh god please let college come sooner. Maybe the workload of classes will be a bitch, but at least I could escape from my family and breathe a little. I know you can't exactly do anything to teach me, but I appreciate your concern, Nia.

Work went surprisingly quick today. Not that I'm exactly complaining.

I just got back from a midnight walk. I wanted to do this for a number of reasons, mainly I wanted to take pictures of the sweet moon that was out that I noticed while I was driving home from work, and it's been awhile since I've gone on one of these moonlight walks anyways and I'm not gonna get many more chances to take a walk around my neighborhood area. So I forced myself to sneak out of the house. Well the moon seems to have receeded from my area and it lost it's sweet orange-y color. And my camera had a hard time taking pictures of the night sky anyways.

I realized the last time I've been on one of these was when my best friend was still around. One sleepover we snuck out of my house and to the nearby elementary school playground to mess around. That was one of the deepest and most meaningful conversations I've ever had that night, even if we talked about seemingly everything and nothing at once. Makes me miss him all the more.

Though that's not what ruined my walk. I don't know quite why but I just was not feeling it tonight. Usually I could walk around the playground or my neighborhood for hours at a time, but tonight just wasn't working. I don't know if that was a phase from last year I grew out of, or if tonight just was an off night, but I couldn't have been out for more than 15 minutes.

I just feel off. Not depressed (for once), not sad, not nostalgic, not lonely, just off. It's weird.

Usually I could walk around the playground or my neighborhood for hours at a time, but tonight just wasn't working. I don't know if that was a phase from last year I grew out of, or if tonight just was an off night, but I couldn't have been out for more than 15 minutes.

I just feel off. Not depressed (for once), not sad, not nostalgic, not lonely, just off. It's weird.
