There is some speculation of a PS3 exclusive Smash Bros. style smash 'em up game in the works codenamed "Title Fight" (which is what the thread title is until the game is confirmed and the real name is revealed)
I find this very intriguing. Make it happen Sony. Just don't make fools of yourself trying to make it better than Super Smash Bros. because that won't happen.

I'm waiting to see the roster. Aside from Drake, Sly, Kratos and Parappa I honestly can't remember any other Sony exclusive chars. Oh wait. That guy from Infamous too. And Sackboy. Forgot about them.

Legend of Dragoon is one… long forgotten title.
Legend of Dragoon was put on the PSN in Japan about a year ago, so it hasn't been forgotten. Not to mention, the huge amount of people requesting an NA release.
Folklore! Sadly, I think Sony forgot about that game, as did everyone else.
Also, I wouldn't say this is STRICTLY properties Sony owns, I think it could cover properties that were ever on a Sony platform. As long as the publishers of those characters agree that this will be a PS3 exclusive and never be on a Microsoft or Nintendo console then Sony could use multiplatform characters. We could have Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts characters, hell we could even have Bayonetta. That whole "Long Live Play" Sony commercial had various multiplatform characters from Dead Space, Portal, and BioShock.

Except the fact that Capcom would literally have to do nothing and would merely be getting paid for use of a character. Tho knowing Greedcom they'd probably ask for an absurd amount of money from Sony to use any of its characters.

Dead Space isn't Sony-exclusive. That commercial showed multi-plat games in addition to Sony games. Dead Space, Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty, etc.

So what? As per my previous post chances are if this does come to light it WILL include multiplatform characters. Hell, one of the employees developing this game posted on twitter that the "For Michael" commercial was hinting at their game. And he wasn't bullshitting as he also posted those images which people are running with (such as the Sweet Tooth model) and he has since deleted all twitter messages mentioning this game, probably cause Sony got pissed.

Well if the game did consist of multi-platform or third-party titles I'd love to see some additions from ATLUS franchises. I mean think of playing as Vincent with pillow and bible move sets. Or even just a themed stage with falling blocks and spike traps. Pretty unlikely but a man can dream.
Characters from Team Ico would also be interesting. The new HD collection just came out so nobody can label it as a forgotten franchise. Furthermore a Shadow of Colossus stage would be quite impressive.
Well that's what I came up with in about half an hour. Sony doesn't really have too many colourful first-party characters besides Rachet, Jack and Sly. I'd be pretty disappointed if most of the roster was filled up with gritty mature characters instead of catering to a wide demographic like Smash. That being said if they could pull some strings and get a Disgaea, Valkyria Chronicles or Kingdom Hearts characters this would be a day one buy.
That is to say if the rumors are true however.
Depending on the lineup this game has the potential to be awesome.

Well essentially, depending on the character roster, it's a huge advertisement for third party franchises.
A twelve year old kid buys the game primarily for the Rachet and Clank on the front cover and in the end becomes interested in Ape Escape, PaRappa the Rapper ect. Furthermore it could indicate current fan trends therefore determining a rebirth in somewhat dead series. With that in mind I could see a wide variety of third party support.
I fully embrace the idea of this game (because man we need more local multiplayer games on the ps3), but at the same time I really wonder if it's gonna be as fun as a super smash bros game, just due the very different nature of these potential characters. Nintendo characters being usually more goofy do lend themselves very well to other genre types, whereas I have a hard time seeing most sony characters bashing each other up in total crazyness.
Having for example Colt, Nathan, Kratos and ratchet in some arena bash each other will undoubtly have a very different feel than yoshi, mario, link and kirby doing that.
And I personally feel like the feeling(the feeling of a 4 player living room party game) that the latter emanates does support the type of game that super smash bros tries to be better.
Nate's combat style will consist solely of the Square and Triangle button performing the same moveset over and over and over again.

Well given only the limited things we know about anarchy reigns I'd agree that a game in that style would suit the sony characters better.

Completely new. This'll be their first game ever. I suspect they impressed Sony however, considering they're giving them the chance to make a game that is essentially tying all their properties together.
