Gt destroyed DragonBalls myth a bit in my eyes.
Dragonball Z Ultimate Tenkaichi

I don't know why GT is in this game anyways. The game is said to stay true to the manga but GT is noncanon.
Oh well, I wouldn't mind having Baby, Super 17 and Omega as boss fights. -

Oh well, I wouldn't mind having Baby, Super 17 and Omega as boss fights.Graphically they're trying to be 'true to the manga'. Otherwise, they're just tossing in whatever people have continued to clammor for.
-
As much as I hate GT and how they raped anything that was good about the manga. . .I'm almost ashamed to say I rocked with Super 17 in Tenkaichi 2 and 3. The machine-gun hand attack was godly, and absorving energy blasts was great. Loved him.
-
Same here. As bad as GT was i'm really looking forward to playing as the GT characters. Hopefully Dragon Ball will also be in.
-
Create a character trailer, get excited! -
It's in the game Kishi there is nothing you can do about it unless you kill everyone involved in it's production. A lot of people feel the same way you do.
Na kidding lol I agree with you GT isn't canon therefore non-existant
Neither are the movies but last time I checked no one was pissed about Brolly,Bojack,Cooler & etc being included as playable characters and the movies have their fair share of "It's not canon It's not relevant" debaters.
-
hell yes. now all those fan fiction characters can look lagite
-
So they're finally releasing Toriyama's template out to the general public!
I kid, I kid. Sounds really fun, I've always wanted a toriyama-style create a character (dragon quest 9 was a step in the right direction). Hopefully they'll have Freeza, Cell and alien (besides Saiyan)design elements (reflective body parts, "megaman" ears etc.)
-
looks like every tenkaichi ever
-
I hope we'll have more options than just, "all Saiyans/Humans with different Saiyan/Human clothes!" I want to customize me a Namekian or a Majin and stuff, like in DBO or something.
-

-
I knew it was too good to be true. You can't even change the eyes…
-
I'm guessing that when Ultimate Tenkaichi 2 is released, we'll have a deeper character creator.
Edit: New video

Here's a
.Yup, Bandai and Spike finally shelled out cash for Toei to animate the cut scenes.
-
That animation is EXACTLY what Kai' should have been.
-
Gee didn't see Buu in there.
-
Bandai's Europe facebook confirmed that saga and GT would be in another trailer.

This post has made my day.

Two second still frames with some lip flaps followed by CG video game animation?
There's… not a whole lot of actual animation going on there, and its actually pretty jarring to see it jump styles so radically.

Still looks pretty nice Kinda looks like an animation cel to what Kai should have been(to me)
Also I think this game should have a playable Toriyama bot. That''d be awesome.

Dragonball Z already had an extremely high budget back when it was being made. The characters have 4-5 shades of color, and fairly fluid detailed animation by about the mid Frieza saga, and by the Cell saga… you'd be hard pressed to get the individual frames looking much better. It may have been done for tv in the early 90's, but they threw enough money at it that it was above the quality of most all other 90's animation. (And especially after Kai went in and cut out some of the murkier slower bits) The early Z stuff against Raditz and Vegeta isn't as polished, but hell, Kai gets through that in about 10 episodes now anyway.
It's not digital animation polish to be sure, but that stuff is a little too sleek and bright, Dragonball actually benefits some from old school technique, color and grit in it.
(And of course they can throw a lot of money at a 90 second opening animation... that's not the same as paying for a full blown redrawn 100 episodes. Not even remotely in the same league.)

!Well, damn. That's not going to be easy to top.

after seeing that, i liked to see any DBZ game after this top that intro.

DB GT is in, DB is not in. . .
Ok, wathever.
Idiots.

Idiots.
They included DB characters in past games and they're always problematic because they can't fly, and many of them can't toss fireballs. They let them "jump good", but they're generally just screwed. (So are Mr. Satan and Videl, generally, for the same reasons.) When you have a generic template to accommodate 150 characters with no variety to them, the template falls to pieces when you take a core play element away from any given character.
And GT has been part of what fans expect the games to go up to in terms of transformations since the Playstation. That's… never going to change. Hell, they're invention NEW transformations at this point.
-
I was quite happy with what they did with Tenkaichi 3 and the great ammount of DB characters. It's true most of them couldn't fly, but I had more fun playing with them than a lot of the Z and, needless to say, the GT cast (although, as I said before, I'm quite good with Super-17, although it doesn't take much merit being good with him).
Anyways, they could charge at any opponent, wathever fly they may be flying, and they could combo flying enemies no problem too. There were some stages that were trully fucked for DB characters, but that's not reason enough (at least, not for me) to leave them out.
Anyways, both Raging Blast 1 and 2 are terrible, so I didn't have any high hope for this one to begin with. But adding GT and leaving DB to me feels insulting, even if it may be a logical move.
-
Dragon Ball GT stuff is only in maybe a half dozen games. Dragon Ball stuff has many, many entire games devoted solely to itself. Considering it's likely they're only porting the character animations from Sparking! METEOR (rather than introducing new characters) it's still the least amount of work.

Only 12 days left until its European release. I'm really looking forward to it. :)

same for America and niether can I. I want to dive into the character creator!
-
Released today in America. Time to go get my copy
-
-
Well…..Is it any good?
Worth getting?
I want to get Arkham City but I love DBZ games too much. -
Holy SHIT! They chose to use the "Cha-la" OP!!!!
Mad game credit from me for that! It's not some bullshit genera-rock! makes the game feel more legit!!

What a lucky bastard you are. I still have to wait for three (maybe two) days to get mine. :(

I want to get Arkham City but I love DBZ games too much.DBZ and Arkham are both completely worth it I'm afraid you're on your own lol
Opening is the best DBZ video game opening song ever
-
I dunno, this is one of my favorite OPs for the video games at least.
But you really can't beat CHA-LA! Nostalgia overload!
-
Saw the intro show up in Robby's favorites. Suddenly, I want to buy this.
This is still the best Dragon Ball game opening, however:
-
@Yuugi's:
I've said this a billion times already, but seriously….this should of been what Kai looked like. ;_;
-
Well, here in Spain it recieved average to bad reviews. Gameplay is extremely simple and repetitive (QTE's everywhere, all the time!), character roster is incredibly short for a game where characters have NO variations among them (they called characters Skins), and the create a character feature is kinda limited.
Sorry, but it looks disappointing. But I've seen hundreds of comments being "getting it NOW", so I guess it will be quite successful.

Ahhh, back before we had the video games pretending GT exists ^___^

Well it is DBZ so it will be successful but I won't pay full price for that.
The Collector's Edition figurine looks nice though -
The only thing I dislike are SSJ4 Gogeta and this evil Dragon, just because I hate Dragon Ball GT.
And a SSj 2 Vegeta wouldn't be bad either… Even if we have Majin
-

People keep saying this, and its stupid. They apparently fail to grasp there is a significant difference between animating 2 minutes of high quality from scratch, and animating 2200 minutes of high quality from scratch…
Or the fact that from mid-Frieza on the show had near movie budget level animation quality anyway. Or the fact that even using existing footage Kai STILL couldn't edit the pacing properly.
-
So, is there any reason to get this game if I own the PS2 tenkaichi series -besides it looking prettier? Any significant gameplay overhauls?
-
Nope not really, with only 44 characters (62 with transformations), a repetitive gameplay system, and the ability to only create 3 characters, it's best to wait till Ultimate Tenkaichi 3.
-

Yeah, a MAJOR gameplay overhaul. Instead of a "simple to learn, hard to master" deep fighting system (who needs those? I sure don't), you play rock paper scissors and then watch a movie!
