Mario Tennis was probably one of his best games, sans the original DK Jr. Certainly better than DK Jr. Math….

but i think it would be killing two birds with one stone, a retro revival and another DK rep. I think they could do some interesting stuff with his vine climbing and perhaps those living bear trap gators that were in the original, perhaps vines could appear for him to climb with his up b, a his down b could be to set those traps. I would hope though that he wouldnt end up as a faster dk clone, but that seems like something they would do to cut corners.

I like the ideas here, especially the vine climbing (makes more sense for a monkey to recover like that than spinning like a top). But there's no doubt in my mind DK Jr. would definitely be a fast DK clone…..the same names aren't helping much.

And chances of his revival remain slim to me. Diddy's been in way more games than DK. Jr, so it's safe to say Nintendo prefers him more (and his hat advertises the company!) Then again, I would treat it as a nice surprise if he makes the cut.

It's certainly not the most far-fetched character prediction.......some people are insistent on the likes of Waluigi and Toad....

Personally, I'd prefer K. Rool over DK Junior - though the games tends to go back and forth on whether DK Junior is the Donkey Kong that we all know or not, K. Rool would have much more to work with as far as a moveset goes.

He's had at least four distinct boss battles, each with a decent variety of moves (particularly the fight against him in Donkey Kong 64), and his inclusion would add another villain to the franchise, something that it seems to be lacking (really, all that comes to mind are Bowser and Ganondorf - Wario and Wolf are more like anti-heroes, Mewtwo's not particularly evil in the games [at least, as far as I know], and Dedede tends to be misunderstood in most of Kirby's games).

In my opinion. Personally Waluigi is one of my Mario series favorites, even if he's always happened in sports and party games only. It's just that not only that I feel the Mario series has enough representation (technically more so with sub-series like Donkey Kong, Yoshi, and Wario), Waluigi's chances are diminished greatly by the fact that he hasn't appeared in a main series game: supporting role, villain, or star.

K.Rool: He's a friggen Croc pirate with a musket. His DKC 2 movesets are more varied than a number of characters in Brawl already. So it begs the question: why not? T_T

If he's not included, it probably has to do with something between Rare and Nintendo. Makes me wonder why other Rare characters like Banjo and Conker aren't considered for Smash candidates. I could have sworn I read somewhere that Nintendo and Rare had some issues about this.

Because Banjo and Conker are owned by Rare.

K. Rool could work, though, because despite being a Rare creation, he's part of a franchise that's wholly owned by Nintendo.

Also, Waluigi really needs his own game series, and it's a shame that Nintendo only uses him for sports/mini-game compilations…

Ahhh ok, I wasn't sure whether Nintendo owned Conker and Banjo (verses whether they also owned K.Rool. Though that would make sense since Banjo showed up on an Xbox360/PS3 title.)
I figured it was one of those situations like Nintendo and Square in regards to ownership of say…Geno within Super Mario RPG. Goddamn you Square!

Hey, if a butterball like Wario can have his own platforming series, then his tall, lanky brother (or cousin or partner in crime) can definitely follow suit. Then again, Nintendo's risks almost never pay off thanks to whiny fans (see Super Mario Sunshine and Metroid: Other M)…

I think Wario worked because at the time, he was an unique character. Not a sworn nemesis like Bowser was, but someone not on Mario's side. His style, his obsession with treasure, the fact that his name blends warui, which means bad, and Mario, makes him the perfect antithesis to the heroic plumber.

Plus it's fun ramming into bad guys with your muscles. I am curious how Nintendo managed to work in the Wario Ware series, which factors more of Wario's crude, gross humor than his adventuring self.

But I always pictured Waluigi to be a sneaky bastard, stealing things rather than take Wario's route of beating people up for self-gain. Perhaps a series could be based on that? Nintendo could always use more anti-heroes.

….I'm going off topic, aren't I? :P

Not if you actually knew Samus' character, which (as the mass-whining showed) not many so-called fans did.

But this has gotten off-topic. I hope that instead of color-swapping, Samus has different suits available for play (Other M style, Dark Suit, Fusion Suit, etc.). I know it's probably asking too much, but it'd be a nice touch…

i wonder what the chances are of baby mario & luigi appearing as a 2nd representative of the yoshi series are. I really want each of the 10 original series to have another rep and i can't think of anyone else really (except kamek or baby bowser)

Does the Yoshi series really need another rep? I personally don't think it does myself. Would rather see them focus on chars from series that don't got ANY representives (Wii Sports, Golden Sun, Xenoblade, Magical Starsign, Starfy, Sin and Punishment, Nintendo Wars, Punch Out, Ouendan/Elite Beat Agents) than yet another Mario, Zelda or Kirby addition.

I think Dr. Kawashima would make a brilliant addition to the boss roster.

There is no doubt about it. Unless Nintendo flops over and dies for some unforeseeable reason (or the world ends before it by December 2012), there will be a Super Smash title. It is not a matter of "if", but more of a matter of "when". Be patient, it WILL shows up as surely as a new mario title (albiet not as frequently though).

Other franchises that I would love to see some reference to:

Star Tropics. Only problem I foresee with this is the main character (Mike) being similar to Ness in some ways.
Meteos (also Sakurai I believe? I'd love a stage or some music, this game has excellent music)
Rhythm Heaven. If WarioWare has it's stage, I think Rhythm Heaven should have a stage. Or at least some of the music.

I could go on but I'll stop there. Dammit Nintendo, why have you dominated my time like this???

I don't think that's why. It's more likely because star tropics wasn't realised in japan so japanese gamers are unlikely to know him

If there is one quality that Sakurai has always had it's his drive to cram the game full of everything. He says now not to expect many in terms of characters, but based on how much fun he describes making them I have a feeling we'll get the normal amount of additions (and possibly version exclusives). We're roughly three (maaaaaaaaybe two, if rushed) + years away from launch.

tl;dr Sakurai gonna pack this game alright, alright?

What he said was that there probably wouldn't be more characters than there are now and that there wouldn't be scores of new characters taking the place of the old ones. They could easily switch out Lucario and the P-Trainer's team for new ones, for example. Not to mention the ongoing series with changing main characters like Fire Emblem, whether Sonic and Snake will stay or be replaced with other 3rd party characters, and whether characters that are clones of other characters, like Wolf, little Link and especially Ganondorf will be modified for the better or replaced. I think the main stars and sole reps for each game are safe, but anyone else is fair game.

Considering the changes we are expecting for this one and that it will be 3DS and Wii U there is going to be a much bigger work load for this one so I doubt 2013 is the year we will see it 2014 is the minimal

The magic box is the only place reporting that. They have been known to take liberties like that. So while it is very possible this will be the case, but not every move being brand new, this is just speculation. Don't get happy just yet.

He's too much of a random gorilla smashing things. Some of his moves can be changed to make him fit his other game, like his Up+B which is completely out of nowhere and ridiculous coul be replaced by a barrel blasting move.

I also think that DK should have the Coconut gun from DK64 in his move set

Definatley. I think it's needed for the next smash game. Especially if customization is a big part of the 3ds one. Also it's a cheap way for sakutai to have clone characters because you can customize and make them different yourself

If I could have the ability to add just 1 character outside the planned amount, it would be Fawful from Mario & Luigi: Bowser's inside story (With the option of having him dressed as his final form M&L: Superstar saga (And Shroob as alternative costume)).

However, do the fact we already have 5 chacters from the mario series, this is a snowball chance in the bahamas.

That doesn't really work since we've got the Metal item.. I'd love some alternate costumes, though.

Peach actually having a Daisy skin instead of just having her colors would be cool.

Indeed, I would really like to see alternate skins for SSB4, why was Wario the only one with one in Brawl? Plus, it would shut people up about irrelevant clone characters being added in the game…like Dark Samus.

We talk about costumes and all you want is a Daisy costume (which is more or less a palette swap we already have) or a Metal Mario one which wouldn't make any sense considering we already have an item with this effect… yeah... I'm waiting for a Dark Pit suggestion or the inevitable 8-bit characters.

And calling Dark Samus a clone character...
Also Koopalings haven't got the same body shapes and attitudes so it wouldn't really work (well maybe if you want them to be 7 half-assed character into one).
