I hear it's the other way around, they wanted to have a show with an overarching story line (apparently like a Magical Girl show) and Hasbro told them they wanted the episodes watchable in any order (like a Slice-of-life show).

I rewatched that episode again and I realized there was a scene with fluttershy holding a squirrel in her mouth with an enraged expression. I don' tknow if the squirrel made it. They need to pick up that story line in season two

But atleast it means her and Zecora weren't forgotten.
The part about Luna and the night souds interesting though. The night time can be scary for children, but atleast for me it could also be fascinating and thrilling as a kid. Maybe they can work with that and give her a nice suspenseful night time episode. -
I dunno.
Do I like the show as it is ? Yes.
Would I like for Luna to not cease to exist after episode 2 and Zecora being in more then 1 episode after her introduction ? Kinda.

i love when people make parodies of the second opening, simply for all the details they can exploit.
e.g. the many faces at the beginning, the pose at the end,
and the '4 screen' effect with the subtle clips appearing that mimic the things happening in the original. -

Still, I do kind of worry that too much overexposure could hurt the show in the future because people will get tired of it quicker. :/

! Just saw the ep. And it rocked. Discord was pretty entertaining, yet appropriately evil at the same time. But I wasn'r expecting the manes to change due to lack of element (sans Twlight), so nice cliffhanger.

! Rarity smashed through a stone wall within minutes and lifted a boulder twice her size without using magic. Wasn't she supposedly weak? Applejack and Rainbow Dash don't seem so athletic anymore… And then, she gets Twilight to lift the boulder. And another thing: Princess Celestia had the Mane Cast put on a huge mural in her palace after they defeated Nightmare Moon. That means they are celebrated heroes of Equestria. No pony even makes note of it. Instead, they focus their gaze at Fluttershy in slutty outfits. Either that, or Celestia didn't even bother telling anyone how Nightmare Moon was defeated by the Mane Cast. And then she confiscated the Elements of Harmony. I now believe that she had a part in allowing Discord to emerge from his stone prison, and had the Elements "stolen" to Discord.

Well this is a surprisingly damn good episode.
Loved Discord, he looks dumb as hell but when he's on screen he actually comes off as a cool villain.
Favorite part of the episode was! Discord giving up on subtlety and just out right hypno-corrupting Fluttershy.
