There was blood bending this chapter. Quincies are blood benders and the Soul King is their full moon.

The bias here against Bleach is silly. How can you maintain that nothing happened when plenty clearly did? Just because what you wanted to happen didn't happen doesn't mean the story is at a standstill.
Because:
- What happened (the soul king is dead) happened 3 chapters ago, when JHAWXHCS stabed the cuadruple amputee
- Urahara explaining the details of the travel stuff through pseudoscience is useless, or anything beyond "we are using Ichigo's hole" needesly longwinded, forgivable if it was for a joke or anything beyond "spirit science"
- The "Genetic Hate" is so… "love brain cancer" specialy when Ichigo currently has no body? the genetic hate is in his souuuul.
What we actualy wanted to happen is to ichigo to return to his home planet and die in the travel, leading to the ending of Bleach.
-
Is it weird to believe that in the end Kubo will make Uryuu kill Bach with a pseudo explanation like "ONLY AN ALLMIGHTY CAN KILL ANOTHER ALLMIGHTY!!" and then it will be Ichigo vs Uryuu just to end like Naruto did on a really who cares note

- Soul King did not die 3 chapters ago.
- It's called exposition. When authors don't explain something people tend to start calling "asspull!" Knowing the mechanics behind how things in the Bleach universe functions is important to understand what is going on. Yes, they are taking advantage of the hole Ichigo created, but they are not using the same method that Yhwach used, so it warrants an explanation since even in Yhwach's case it wasn't as simple as simply jumping into the hole. Readers would be even more confused if they just suddenly appeared at the palace.
- Ichigo was born to a Quincy and in case you forgot Ichigo is also a shinigami, and shinigami have a blood circulatory system. His spiritual body is very real.
-
Ichigo is everything under the moon. Shinigami, Hollow, Human, Fullbringer, Quincy, Bloodbender, I mean…hell, I'm half surprised he's not the Soul King.

One there was a ghost named Soul King who was Soul King.
He had fame, power, and wealth beyond your wildest dreams.
Before they hung him from the gallows, these were the final words he said:
"My fortune is yours for the taking. But you'll have to find it first. I left everything I own in 'BLEACH'"
Every since, soul reapers from all over certain parts of Japan have set sail for the Spirit World, searching for BLEACH, the treasure that will make their dreams come true…!!!

Okay first of all. Why pull pull the sword out after hearing Bach say he'd kill the SK by doing that. Or do that in general if he has no way to triage.
Secondly. Orihime is right there. She can undo the damage anyways. This chapter was wonky.

Well done with the One Piece parody song, made my morning.
Louis, I think the main problem for all of this is the fact that they give a long winded explanation for just the travel method, but Kubo doesn't put that effort into making the actual story. If you want to go into that much detail for a simple thing as travelling to the palace, why couldn't you make an effort to develop the Sternritter, make the battles interesting, and develop an actual plot. Bleach also doesn't have much to go off of, because the world is bare bones. They could've just done it, and we couldn't call BS, because the world just seems to act the way it wants too.
Ichigo Tool count for the arc: 25
I am excited for the trolling that will start, because I might be entertained for once. -
Get ready guys, cause now fake karakura final fights 2.0 truly begin. That means loooooong drawn out and boring battles.

I am excited for the trolling that will start, because I might be entertained for once.He did develop the Sterritter, Kubo even gave several of the more important ones a backstory so as to reinforce and rationalize their philosophical outlooks on life. As Nodt is a great example of this. Can't fault the guy for neglecting some of them in favor of more important aspect of the story. A vast majority of shonen authors do that. The battles are plenty interesting in my opinion so that's entirely subjective. Just because you don't like the plot doesn't mean that there isn't one. Big difference.

You can make anything sound lame when you oversimplify it like that and neglect to consider the rationale behind what they are saying and the words they use to express it.

The Vandenreich os one of the worst developed villain groups I've ever seen, and coming after the FullBullshitters, thats saying something

Bleach is a terrible terrible manga with terrible terrible art and terrible terrible "characters" written by a terrible terrible mangaka, thanks for listening.

We finally have a villainous organization who gets shit done for a change. Easily the best arc in Bleach after Soul Society.

I'd have to agree with Daz, and let me write this out:
-It really really hurts the Vandereich are just this…collection of bad guys. Seriously, all of them are sociopathic and/or psychotic and/or stoic assholes that are just there to cause trouble and be the current antagonists for teh plot. It's Shinigami = good, other group = bad dynamics all over again, and I don't get why it had to be this way. Before this arc went down and all this info on Bach came to light, remember what the Quincy story was:
group with special powers that couldn't purify Hollows -> were eliminated as a result
Coupled with the fact that in the days of the soul society arc, there were very clearly Shinigami with good and bad traits. Nice people like Hanataro, Unohana, Yachiru, Rukia.....versus other individuals like Mayuri (sadistic experimenter not lolscience guy), Yamamoto (stubborn old man law not hero of the Seireitei, he's not Whitebeard for crying out loud), Kenpachi (brutal fighter that lives to kill, not 2edgy4me), Byakuya (stoic law-binding brother figure, and so on)
But once the Arrancar and Espada came knocking in, suddenly every Shinigami was more or less assigned to the collective force of "good". And I think the fullbring arc kinda just perpetuated this dynamic. Don't get me wrong, Tsukishima and Ginjou were assholes too, but Kubo pretty much brushed the above aside.
So when you don't have grey people, and just black or white, people aren't as interesting. I would seriously be more interested into the Vandereich and Bach if you had quite a few with
a) still torn up over the massacre
b) debating if Bach's methods are the right path
c) some willing to make peace with the soul reapersBut aside from some of them either being cool in concept or the very few (read: just Mask I guess) showing some actual character outside the parameters of "hahaha I'm evil because why not"., it's just been the same.
Not that zany over-the-top evil bad guys can't be entertaining! But......good god, does Bach make it all worse. He's not as ironically fun as Aizen or even fun to mock the stupidity of like with Ginjou. He's......really really overpowered and really really not enjoyable to keep looking at.
Is the reader supposed to feel sorry for him, for the story of the Quincy? When you're a psuedo-god that dismembers your minions, have the perpetual smirk plastered across your face, and do the same manipulation shtick as Aizen and Ginjou did before.....I can't see how.
-
- Soul King did not die 3 chapters ago.
- The thing about the soul king is, he might as well have died 3 weeks ago, when Bach impaled him in a big dramatic "Oh noes, he's killing the Soul King!" Full page spread. So when Ichigo is trolled into cutting the soul king chapter (Something Bach himself could easily have done, but instead he appearently opted to stand around aimlessly?), It feels like a pointless exension of something that appeared to already have been wrapped up.
Yes, the soul King was appearantly not really dead when it seemed like Bach had really killed him, so Ichigo really really killing him this time is technically progression, but its mostly recyclng, the series spinning its wheels.
@Louis-1988:

Readers would be even more confused if they just suddenly appeared at the palace.
- Of course an explanation is needed, but People have now been hanging out with Urahara for three chapters. Its mostly just science lingo, characters appearing, and pointless fluff, like the chapter which wasted several pages on the tension of Kenpachi maybe considering leaving again. They haven' even started leaving yet, and neither Grimmjow nor the Fullbringers have even showed up! The only progress is the slow trickle of characters appearing, and a very gradual explanation of how they will eventually perform an action. This isn't Hunter X Hunter; People meeting up with Urahara, him explaining his Lolscience, and them taking off should not take this long, an certainly not waste time on stuff like boring 2-page spreads of Urahara standing alone in a bland lab.

P
Q (Kenpachi hype tool)
R (Same)
T
U (Died before revealing his own power)
W (Royal Guard hype tool)
Shaz Domino (Ichigo hype tool. No apparent letter)And then you have the dumb plot twists like Y (actually two people!), Z (actually a man!), V (actually somebody else's imagination… no, wait! He's actually a brain!).

What do you mean "Gets shit done"? Is i just because Bach is super duper Haxx, steamrolling Old Man Genocide and Stromboli, and now endangering Soul Society? Because they're still guilty of all the same shit plagueing Bleachs earlier villains, like overcomplicated plans, ultimately completely expendable mooks, pointless diversions (the Huaco Mondo expedition)…
And thi doesn't change that the Vandenreichs structure, powers, motivation and overall characterization is extremely muddled and lackingOh, and I'd say the best Bleach arcs are the ones immediately preceding Soul Society. After that its pretty much exponential decline, with the the current arc skimming the X axis, with occasional blips above it (like Mask De Maculine, Renji getting an honest to god funny Moment with Bazz B, the brief return of the worthwile arrancars)
Mostly hough, the arc has been a slog though; it launched pretty much immediately into a repeat of the winter war, with an awful flashback/training arc in he middle.

You answered your own complaint. The reason why he didn't do it himself is because he intended to bait Ichigo, who is trying to save Soul Society and who was just tasked with protecting the Soul King by the head RG into dealing the decisive blow. How many people saw that coming? As someone who doesn't read Bleach with an intrinsic negative bias towards it each week, I found it jarring.

What irks me here in this section is that Kubo gets blasted for things more popular mangaka like Oda get free passes for. Does this arc have its faults? Absolutely, it's no where close to perfect, but it also isn't as horrible as people here try and make it out to be when they constantly scream "this manga sucks!" (see the below quote, it isn't constructive at all; It's bandwagon mentality.) without elaborating and then go on to claim that "nothing is happening" just because what they want to happen isn't happening.

I am struggling to remember anything distinctive about Bach. Its the "hyper-smug mastermind" all over again but bleach already has THE iconic representative of this trope, and Bach brings nothing new to the table. His design is bland, his personality stock, his abilities vague and unengaging; as you say, at least Aizen took it all the way with his slick hair, stylish fashion, giant couch, teacups, and ridiculous transformation sequence from condom to 80's rock star to butterfly to tentacle rape clown monster.
All Bach has is his beard. He's an immenely flat final villain, whos only claim o fame is that he's EVEN STRONGERER han Aizen.Sigh. I miss Aizen now.

Even though Bach might be haxx, the battles he's fought so far still required strategy and a bit of wit. He doesn't have the same air of invincibility around him that Aizen had, and yet he's still accomplished more than Aizen did in nearly 250 chapters.

Ichigo has been trolled so many times by so many villains that theres only a tiny fraction of the entire series where he has NOT been acting according to someoene elses designs. Ichigo borderline has no free will, so these moments are utterly unremarkable at this point. And you didn't see the real point of my complaint; 3 chapters ago, Kubo used the Soul Kings apperent murder as a shock value cliffhanger. It is only this chapter that it turns out the soul king was not really dead yet; So it feels like we've backtracked, solely for the sake of trolling Ichgo yet again.

I'm not sure what common faults between OP and Bleach you are referring to, but its not like OP is above criticism. In fact, I find theres a (very) gradual movement on the board towards a slightly more critical attitude to OP. Anyway, If something is bad, it can be criticized as such, and it just so happens that with Bleach is very. very easy to tell when it does something bad…because theres usually so little content that theres nothing to counter it.

…I'm sorry but what strategy? His fight with Stromboli was borderline incomprehensible, and the very definition of him being invincibly haxx; I lost track of how many times Bach inexplicably bounced back from the brink of death.
Then theres his "fight" with Yamamoto, where he deployed a decoy for no real reason, seeing how he ultimatly just popped up himself, instantly snatched Yamamotos bankai, and struck him down. There wasn't even a token line of Yamamoto being tired, or the Bankai-snatcher needing to charge its batteries.

I'm a bit short on time here, so excuse my rushed response, but the common fault I was alluding to is the slogging pace of progression currently plaguing both series. That being said, slogging =/= nothing happening.

Hax is Aizen being all powerful to the point where he can one shot the Vizards and Gotei 13 with no explanation how he ever became so powerful in the first place. To this day the guy is still an enigma with very little character development and whose reasons for being evil are ambiguous at best. At least in Yhwach's case we have bits and pieces of a backstory that is still being built upon. We know he's trying to right a perceived wrong; we know he's related to the Soul King; we caught a glimpse into his childhood, we understand the mechanics behind why he is so powerful and that he must continue to distribute and cycle parts of his soul out to remain so.

No reason?… He needed time to go meet with and try and recruit Aizen to his side. Aizen's prison is located directly under Yamamoto's 1st division quarters which is why he needed him lured away before going to meet him.
It was stated that by Yama himself during his fight with Royd that prolonged use of his bankai would result in his own destruction and before that he took several hits from the bankai Driscoll stole from Choujiro. He was certainly tired.

This isn't a very compelling argument.
I wasn't making an argument?
I was making an opinionated statement. There are dozens of reasons why this manga isn't good, but I don't have to write a book about why that's the case every time I say it. It's not any different from you saying this is the best arc in the series when you didn't list every little detail you could find on why that's true.

Why quote me if your intention isn't to discuss what makes it bad? I didn't say it was the best arc in the series and I've explained my reasoning plenty throughout the history of this thread so i'm not sure what you're talking about. Point is, if you're going to try and tell me something is good/bad you have to explain why or there's no reason for me to take it with anything more than a grain of salt.

I´m pretty sure it´s supposed to end in 2015.
I give it more 25/30 chapters.I doubt it , Im willing to bet anything that it will end at the end of 2016 or beginning of 2017. I think most people keep on saying that it will end soon because each 5-10 chapters they read some editor notes at the end of the chapter saying "The climax of the final arc" when in reality its just the beginning of the end sort of , and thats going to be double what Fake karakura town arc was , i give it 100-120 chapters , this includes : Fights , character bankais , character reveals , plot twists of all sorts, mini 10-20 chapter flashback arc , and the after math of it all.
-
..
I doubt that. Bleach has been flunking in WSJ ranking for years and they are desperate to get rid of it. It would take some Kaguya like bullshit for Kubo to be able to extend this until 2017, and Naruto had popularity unlike Bleach.
Also, I don´t real see how many Bankais and character reveals are left. You have 4 Sternritter and one Boss. I give each Sternritter 2 chapters, and I think I´m being optimistic. 8 more chapters for Bach to be beaten and some conclusion. It´s done.
-
Honestly, I'm in the, "I miss Aizen," phase right now, which is surprising because Aizen sucked, but at least he was somewhat entertaining. Bach is one of the worst villains I can ever remember reading in a manga, by far.
