ts versions should be definate although a sinking feeling says that only luffy, zoro & sanji will get this and the rest will just be costumes (somehow with franky)
One Piece: Musou/Pirate Warriors - PS3
-
-
Doubt we'll see that. I think the only reason we didn't get this time around is because it was too early for the anime and would spoil a lot of things (and they were lazy)
What will they advertise if they don't have the crew? A bunch of Supernova who don't have movesets?
-
Chopper won't need to be a new character for post TS. They just need to finish him. he didn't have deer mode, or seperated hoof or arm points, so just make those timeskip and change his hat, (and let him stay big instead of auto-shrinking) and he's fine.
Usopp will need several new plant attacks added/tweaked, (Possibly a better sogeking mode) and Brook some ice abilities. Nami can play largely the same.
Franky… is pretty radically changed in size and attacks, but he still has some of his old skills, so... not a complete do-over on him.
Are the Musou games usually yearly? I never followed the series but I got the impression that they release a new entry about every two years.
Most anime tie in games get roughly a game a year, (Dragonball Budokai or the Naruto games) and Musou games get offshoot games to fill in the breaks that are sequels, but not quite sequels, like Xtreme Legends, Empires, Strikeforce, or the Orochi game which became its own franchise.
As much as OP sold, if it doesn't have a full blown sequel by next year, it'll still have something with retweaked levels, gameplay modes, and a couple new characters, (possibly timeskip versions) but yes, it might take two years to get a proper 15 additional character sequel.
What will they advertise if they don't have the crew? A bunch of Supernova who don't have movesets?
Law should have a pretty well established moveset by then. (And if they include him they'll BS some stuff for Kidd just to better represent Sabondy. Maaaybe Bonnie to get another girl.) Plus all the villains that weren't playable, and the big arc bosses that were missing before, Enel and Moria. (And if they have Moria, Perona seems likely, maaaybe Ryuma, since he can just use Brook's moves) Buggy, Krieg and Arlong are shoe ins for playable next time, Mihawk, Mr 2 and Mr 3 likely since they have models already. but I do wonder at the bigger characters, the CP9, Admirals, Blackbeard and Magellan. Whitebeard they fit by screwing up the camera (which lead to problems), so hopefully if they have more big people playable they fix that.
Doflamingo has no chance of getting in, since his moves are really unestablished.
-
no but in the next one i see them doing the arcs left out from part 1 like skypeia and thriller bark but if they do time skip they'll only do fishman island and hell they could get away with just time skip luffy and still do it. They should do all of them time skip but hell nami & robin don't even get a proper fight in fishman island. And franky's in his giant robot for most of it

they already have timeskip Zoro and Sanji, and visually, Nami, Robin and Brook aren't changed much, considering the DLC they've been getting. Usopp's moveset, and Frnaky and Chopper's designs need the most work, but really just a couple new moves should be fine.
-
Chopper won't even be that much work. Considering they didn't bother to put most of his forms in the first one. Changing his fat and changing the 3 or 4 other moves that involved other forms probably wont be so difficult.
-
Out of all of them, I wouldn't mind if they redid Chopper from scratch. He kind of sucked.
Nami could use some reworking too.
Everyone else was fairly satisfactory, but could use some smaller tweaks and obvious changes for the skip.
-
I'd be happier if they made it more obvious what Brook's music gauge does. Or at least give it a purpose.
They really need to fix how quick Franky's coke gauge handles too. Goes down far too quickly and affects too much to make Franky a chore to play as.
Robin, Sanji and Zoro can get away with some new moves. Actually I dunno if Sanji and Zoro have their TS movsets in their clothes anyways. Cloning herself and giant limbs and flying for Robin is gonna be pretty dodgy to make easily usable too.
-

Raises attack and defense. If we could read Japanese that'd be more obvious. Or if he had more sleep based attacks. The alt modes in general need work. To last longer or be easier to do or something. Chopper, Usopp, Gear 2 Luffy… all have really different modes, but its never worth the ammount of bar consumption for how short it is.... Luffy especially, he's way better off with three seperate supers than 8 seconds of Gear 2. Franky's cola should similarly be tweaked, to provide bonuses, rather than punishing you for having none.
Robin, Sanji and Zoro can get away with some new moves. Actually I dunno if Sanji and Zoro have their TS movsets in their clothes anyways. Cloning herself and giant limbs and flying for Robin is gonna be pretty dodgy to make easily usable too.
Zoro and Sanji play the same but… they really haven't done anything different aside from bigger sword swings, or airwalking.
-
Yeah aside from Monster Chopper I never used the alt forms. Were just pointless. At least Monster gets you insane attack and can easily do tons more damage.
It also depends on how far they are in the series for movesets. If they start working on it for a March 2013 release then I dunno if they would be far into Punk Hazard. If there at all. So that would remove any new attacks shown in that arc (and possibly not even enough to warrant them doing Law…nah. They'll do him anyways)
-
They better do Punk Hazard Law in the next game if they want my moneys. I'm surprised they haven't made a time-skip OP game for the Wii or 3DS.
So noobish question but could I import the EU version off Amazon. And if so is there anything I should keep an eye out for. Sorry this will be my first game I've ever imported.
And I'm not buying off the psn where the game never truly belongs to you.
I don't follow. Are the games i buy on PSN not mine forevers like my games i buy off XBL?
-
@Joe:

its yours as long as you dont delete it. you can even download it again for free as long as the data is still in your donwload list in the psn. its just not physically there. you cannot put it in your game rack or touching and admiring it. i think that is what he means.

There was rumours that there was a New World Cruise game coming. But nothing else.
-
Why would they put 50 playable characters in this game.
There would be no room for improvement for the sequal if there is one, so it's completly stupid to have a huge roster of characters.

There is still have all the supernovas, half the shichibukai, all of whitebeards crew, they had plenty of room for improvement.
-
Vs mode would be a great improvement… I'm just sayin'
-
Sup UK/Europe/Australia peeps, the game is now available for pre-order at http://www.ozgameshop.com/ps3-games/one-piece-pirate-warriors-game-ps3 Free shipping!
-
why are they selling it on an american website? i guess for americans who want a hard copy it's good
-
It's been up for pre-order on Amazon UK for a good while now, and I'm pretty sure that's an Australian website.
-
It is a UK site. It even says everything is shipped from the UK. They just own 2 domains to encourage Australians to buy from there.
This is the original site: http://www.365games.co.uk/ -
So, some japanese dude hacked the game to make Kizaru playable
-
I have watched WB's entrance in the game. It was definetely better than the anime version. WB entering into the light was like a Boxer going into the ring for an epic match.
When he used his fruit, it was like a god who was seriously pissed. -
Posted a few pages ago. He also got Aokiji and Buggy playable.
-
So I'm finally getting a Japanese version of the game (getting an english one when it comes out as well of course) but I have a question: I can read hiragana and katakana pretty well but I'm basically screwed when it comes to Kanji, which I know is a huge part of Japanese writing, how hard will it be for me to navigate the menus?
-
I haven't read the thread (bitch I ain't readin 141 pages!) but does anyone know about any of this DLC (Downloadable Content)?
I checked the wiki to see which characters would be there (not DLC) and I got my hopes up when I saw Apoo and Killer mentioned… apparently there are mini-bosses that look like then?
-
this is all the dlc for the game

nothing about new characters. -
E3 trailer is out, looks like they just subtitled one of the Japanese trailers:

Aside from the coin effects, you'll be able to navigate the menus even without being able to read them, its pretty straightforward.
But… why get the japanese version now, when the English will be out in just three months? The game REALLY is not good enough to get twice. It's only okay at best

All costumes and reshuffling of quests on existing maps. Nothing more. No new maps or characters. That's what sequels are for. You get the strawhats, Ace, Jinbe, Hancock and Whitebeard.

Nope, not in there. Don't get your hopes up. That's what the sequel is for.
-
D'aw.
Oh well.
They better have more Supernova involvement in future games < ^ <;;
then again we don't know much about their abilities yet XD
but still. -
First gameplay for the English version:
-
All those hyped people in the comments. How little they know~
-
Funimation's logo is at the end of the E3 2012 trailer. Could this mean a dub, or is it just there because they own the licence?

Probably just the latter, but hopefully both
-
"Luffy defeated 100 enemy!"
Yeah, the effort they're putting in definitely calls for a dub, too.
-
Wow they really haven't done much in subbing it yet.
The pre-rendered cutscenes were the only thing subbed there as still japanese text in all the dialogue boxes.
EDIT: http://www.gametrailers.com/video/e3-2012-one-piece/731528 my bad looks great haha
-
That video has terrible grammar.
-
I'm that used to the Japanese text that any other language just looks stupid and strange
-
According to Shonen Jump's twitter, "Pirate Warriors" is not getting a dub. It was tweeted a day or two ago:
-
Why is that STILL news? We knew that once they confirmed no disk release.
-
@RobbyBevard:

Well at least it's official now, not everyone was sure. I know it being digital-only was because of niche status, no dub, or a combination of both. I've never heard of Japanese games getting a digital-only release here ONLY coming out with no dub, so I wasn't exactly sure myself. Actually, has there ever been a similar scenario to this where the game did get a dub?

Its Koei. Warriors Orochi 3 just went through he exact same thing, so… it really isn't a shock.
-
No dub isn't really a shock.
I've known loads of Japanese 'niche' games be subbed only.Making a dub just isn't cost effective.
-
But it comes as no surprise though, as it would be dubbed by funimation, there would be a load more licensing stuff and plus more VA casting for what would also be used later in the series on top of all the actual voice acting needed to be done, which knowing funimation would push back the release date a hell of a lot.
-
Did any game sites write up any impressions of the demo at E3? I have a feeling that this game really isn't getting any push and is being set up to fail in the states.
-

It's getting a DLC only release. Of course it is.
Even in the UK the only one that got a semi-decent push was UC SP 1 and that was because Nintendo did the pushing, not Namco Bandai
-

That's nonsense. No one invests money into a property INTENDING to set it up to fail.
However, they have a reasonable idea of how large the target audience is, (from the people that usually buy Warriors games) and the ammount of time and money that should be invested into promoting it. Cause lets face it… the people that care about and want this game? Are the ones that knew about the Japanese game coming out.
One Piece is a niche market stateside, (It selling a million copies in Japan is meaningless here) and Dynasty Warriors is a niche market. They expect it to do as well as the Gundam or FotNS games, and can predict profit and expenses based on that.
-
Well by setting up to fail, i mean in a mass market sense. Like you said, the ones that will get it are probably those who knew about it already. I don't think it will do as well as Gundam or FotNS though. I think making it download only in the states, is a bad idea. I'm sure even the second Fist of the North Star game that was announced will get a disc release. The announcement for the second FotNS got more notice on sites than the OP game. It just seems like it has been pushed less than their other properties of the Warriors franchise.
-
Namco Bandai must still be burned on how "One Piece" games have sold in the past. Also "Pirate Warriors" may have gotten more attention if it announced during E3.

The One Piece collector in mine wanted the Treasure Box. So I got it. I'll also import the European edition as well as getting the Digital Copy. <.<
-
Really disappointed by the dubless NA release… still gonna buy it though just for the sake of playing a One Piece game :\
