I don't think either of them will be the final villain.
Holding out for Big mam huh?
Could Van Decken be the only strong person in his crew? I know he has the giant but the rest seem to be insignificant.

I don't think Luffy will confront a yonkou this early after the timeskip, either. I'm actually thinking about DoFlamingo, since he's the last shichibukai the SHs haven't had direct interaction with.
You have a point though. Van Decken is a bit comical while Hodi seems to be a thug thats all brawn and no intellect. They both lack qualities that Crocodile, Enel, Kuro, and Lucci had. Of course Moria was a bit comical too, but he was pretty ingenious.
Decken doesn't come across as particularly powerful or serious. Yeah, he's a violent stalker, but he doesn't seem like final villain material. He just isn't very intimidating, really. I guess that could change depending how Oda decides to go through with it, since he is pretty notorious on Fishman Island and the descendant of a legend. Also Oda could pull a Spandam on him, too.
Hodi is out simply because having fishman supremacists as the main villains once again would be retarded at this point.
@Mr.:

agreed about the moria part :D
I'm sure there will be more characters to fight, or perhaps even some 2v1 fights, where two Strawhats fight against one enemy.
I agree with this point… in reverse. I would actually really enjoy seeing two powerful enemies to simultaneously battle a Strawhat. It would really showcase how far they have come. However, this would make the problem we already have bigger, where not everyone would get an important battle.

We haven't seemed to have gotten any evidence that Doflamingo would be involved with this arc aside from the fact that he owned a slave ring. If the final fight in this arc were to be someone we haven't seen yet, I'd put more money on one of Big Mam's trusted subordinates(or officers or whatever you call it?).
so since vander decken does not have a straw hat shirley maybe right and i have a feeling vander decken will use his devil fruit and throw a weapon at luffy causing luffy to try and dodge it and end up slashing the brim of his hat and causing luffy to go berserk and destroy the island or at least nearly destroy it. just a guess
That is absolutely retarded.
^ what why? it seems to make perfect sense
I don't think that we have meet the true boss of the arc.
Camie spoke about a shadow looming over fishman island. Both Van Der Decken and Hodi Actions seem to be more reactionary.
Caribo is a joke and a rapist, Decken is too funny and focused not in the big picture and Hodi is rehashing arlong that besides brute force and water proyectiles doesn't bring anything new that o'l sawtooth didn't. Any action by Big Mom or the close by goverment is too soon.
The arc is shaping up nicely, but we have only gotten red herings by now, soon we'll get the red hering fishman.

I could see something similar to that happening, however, instead of Luffy going berserk, I could see Vander Dekken throwing a multitude of things targeting Luffy (since I doubt his ability is so limited to allow for one thrown object or one target at a time), causing Luffy to try and avoid them all, which would result in him indirectly making a mess of the island as the objects smash through everything else.
^that seems plausible
i think we should broaden our choices as to who or what is the main arc villain
it can't just be hodi, or caribou, or vander decken. and lets face if i recall in one of the pages vander decken says the princess is locked away in a tower at least in a way that made me feel like he was worried about her. and hodi is trying to start a revolt that was probably one of the reasons he tried to get the strawhats. and caribou is least likely arc villain he was defeated once already they know his weakness. i doubt even sainji will fight him to an extent that is he might be vulnerable to nosebleeds if he sees a mermaid during the fight. but again i say he is not the main arc villain. who is will still be a mystery but for one i hope it is neptune. or his minsisters that tell him what to do. if im wrong then i could be someone we haven't met yet or someone we wouldn't expect.
this chapter wasn't as good as the last ones.
Too much goofyin' around between Luffy and the princess. Oda could have spend less panels with their interactions IMO.
Yeah I know right. Why waste precious panels on developing personality and character traits of someone who is the central key figure to the entire arc. They should omit that and cut it short.
More people should take a que from this and draw manga with titles based on detergent.
I don't think either of them will be the final villain.
I think this too. Though the thought of a parmecia or a fishman being the boss fight is very appealing. Especially this far into the story. I think he will defeat both and go on to destroy FI getting the attention of big mom. Luffy fighting Neptune is cool too. No matter what happens I see him still being on good terms with the fishman pirates. If not thats interesting too.
I guess what I'm saying is Oda can't go wrong.
I have a theory that I don't know if it has been mentioned before. What if Big Mam comes out and becomes the main villain for this arc, ergo Luffy's opponent. Sanji for Hodi, and Zoro for dekken. I predict that Luffy will lose to Big Mam just for Oda to show us that Luffy is far from Yonkou level.
So you want him to lose right after a two year training arc that was made so he would not lose?
i don't want him to lose of course but that's just what i think is going to happen. i just thought of a very very very improbable happening as to Oda is the master of surprises. I mean, Big mam has to play a part here.
I don't think Big Mom will play that big of a role. The way Luffy talked about meeting her seemed to foreshadow seeing her later, not very soon.

i like this idea like dekken and hodi vs luffy, the blue ring octo guy and maybe the giant squid vs zoro and so on would be sweet to see all the sh's or at least the monster trio taking on two at once

If this Candy Factory is so dear to her, doubtlessly like Kaido putting that guy on one of his favorite Islands, Mum has probably at least one allied Captain and crew at the Factory for security purposes.
Big Mom might pull a kuma like finisher at the end, but it's hard to say, I do think Hodi will be the final villian for luffy if this isn't a <50 chapter arc, his drug use will be a great mechanic to power himself up to luffy level while also creating an emotional story that while similiar to Arlong takes it to interesting places, I think it's strange that Arlong is so well known to these guys since he wasn't that big a deal in the big picture, his ambition was, and that leads me to think that Hodi might be brothers with Arlong or something.
so…fishman can eat devil fruit and is perfectly fine.
i winder how van der derkin swim
@Hespia:

i don't think he can swim, hence the bubble. He can walk, i guess.

Yep i agree with Reyairia we might see some of the people working for Big Mama or even Jinbe might be allyed to her and be sent to fishman island by her.
If we do see Big Mama this arc she will probly getting news about the strawhats or talking about them.
Does anyone else feel like Jones won't be that great of opponent for Luffy, that is if they are going to fight? Or even Dekken for that matter.
Does anyone else feel like Jones won't be that great of opponent for Luffy, that is if they are going to fight? Or even Dekken for that matter.
Could be. This is the first post-time skip arc. To have a bloody battle a la CP9 or Arabasta right now would feel a bit out of place.
I think he might provide a challenge, and give Luffy a good fight, but more Kuro/Buggy style than Lucci/Croc style.
i think its pretty obvious that his glove does not have a devil fruit the only reason he put it on was probably to ensure hodi jones was not effected by his fruit why else would he be in a bubble.
I don't think that we have meet the true boss of the arc.

Wow, you guys are expecting yet another Villain to come out of nowhere? Why is everyone predicting this, are you guys disappointed with the current villains or something?

NEPTUNE ISN'T THE VILLAIN D:
As of now, these are my Match Up predictions, based on designs and fighting styles, as well as personalities.
Luffy VS Hodi
Zoro VS Hyodou
Usopp VS Deckem
Sanji VS Caribou
Chopper VS Daruma
Nico Robin VS Icaros
Franky VS Dosun
Brook VS Zeo
As of now, I see Nami in the "Unlikely Princess"'s role again, hope I'm wrong.
If their bounties were going to rise again due to them all resurfacing at the same time, why would Oda go out of his way to hide zoro's current bounty
Yep i agree with Reyairia we might see some of the people working for Big Mama or even Jinbe might be allyed to her and be sent to fishman island by her.

Pretty sure Big Mom being in charge is one of the reasons Jinbei had to skedaddle. Government may not take kindly to FI harboring a fugitive but since their presence isn't a bid deal down there anyways its much more likely Big Mom doesn't want a former ally of WB to continue doing his thing in her territory.
Does anyone else feel like Jones won't be that great of opponent for Luffy, that is if they are going to fight? Or even Dekken for that matter.
Lots of people. Look around.
Taking 4 pills to destroy a galleon isn't that imposing when Zoro did the same waking up from a nap and Jinbe destroyed a bigger steel plated battleship on accident. With intent he'd deal major damage to a buster call. M.Trio seem very close to Iva&Jinbe's level already.
Thinking about it I don't think someone connected to Big Mom will be the villain. Why when things seem to be going her way down there? Somebody wanting to create unrest in FI to disrupt her influence down there sounds more likely to me.
If the Candy Factory is just a front for power enhancing drugs maybe she is using them to power up her subordinates. Possibly because of the pressure of dealing with three major threats instead of one(Kaidou,Teach,&Akainu). Maybe some other group wants to disrupt her supply. In the end SH are blamed and put on her shit list anyways.

i dont think people are looking at the pills the right way. IF Hodi is going to enter a fight, hes gonna use them. the shaving off his life part has no relevance here (cept for if he dies from it, but even if that was too happen, he'll put a good fight before he does die from the pills). Also, he was biting through the ship destryoing it. We've seen that zoro has always caused massive damage (Enies lobby anyone)? The sword fighting style is meant to be a huge massive destroyer, they're not using tiny daggers. As for jimbei, he used his fishman karate within water to destroy a ship. I"m sure Hodi is capable of the exact same thing (if not multiple times stronger due to the pills), but he was proving that he didnt' need the water power boost to take down shitty humans, hence the pointless handcuffs.
I like the idea of the candy factory being the producer of ES. i erally dont know what to make of it thou. it sounds pointless for a yonkou to be able to be a yonkou on the use of pills, and if she really is strong and doesn't use them, i dont see why her subordinates would need to take them if they assume she could protect them
Jinbeis message is important, I'm sure.
@Mr.:
Jinbeis message is important, I'm sure.
Probly something to do with not letting the princess going outside Jinbe has experence in this because he knows about Van Dekken.
How are Hodi Jones and Van der Decken not powerful villains again?
Van der Decken we have not even seen fight yet, the only thing we know is that he has a DF, which btw WE DON'T KNOW HOW IT WORKS. He might just not want to touch Hodi because he just doesn't need him as a target, seeing how he is an ally. Also, if it IS one touch only, he can always touch the princess again later on.
Also Hodi, we have seen him take some drugs to go and beat that ship, yes. Does this mean he isn't strong on his own? NO. It was just to show that crew how demonic they New Fishman Pirates can be. He didn't use his hands during that fight, nobody figures that is a huge handicap and might reduce his strength by alot? Which he makes up with by using the drugs?
Don't jump to conclusions due to ONE SINGLE ACTION.

I see no reason at all why Hodi is also capable of Fishman Karate. Arlong wasn't versed in it and even if he were I don't see him being as skilled at it as Jinbe. You also say many times stronger due to the pills? Hodi was 16x as powerful as he normally is when he destroyed that pirate ship. Jinbei feats are more impressive and that is all his strength.
And you're underestimating how easily both Zoro&Jinbei wreck such large ships. Hodi's intent by destroying the Galleon was to instill fear into the surface dwellers. Jinbei&Zoro did something similar just dicking around. If he has to power-up to 16, 32, or 64x his normal strength just to get on par with what Zoro&Jinbei are capable of when not even serious then he can't be that much of a threat.
I like the idea of the candy factory being the producer of ES. i erally dont know what to make of it thou. it sounds pointless for a yonkou to be able to be a yonkou on the use of pills, and if she really is strong and doesn't use them, i dont see why her subordinates would need to take them if they assume she could protect them
Nobody said she is a Yonkou because of the pills. Things before were likely balanced when it was two relatively nice emperors, two less nice ones, and a Fleet Admiral who wasn't that extreme. Now its Machiavellian Teach, Kaidou, a new Fleet Admiral who decided to bring the fight to the Yonkou(likely Akainu), and whatever else.
She probably isn't on the friendliest terms with Shanks and Marco either even if they're not outright enemies. She could be using the pills to give her fleet the edge vs. so many threats at once and someone wants to take away that edge.

Van Der Decken is too comical and with little ambition to be that powerful of a villain. The SH are ridiculous powerful as of right now. Anybody who can logically challenge them at this point has to have a similar level of experience and back story. A guy who spend the greater part of 10 years trying to marry a princess shouldn't be that big a deal to people who fought against Warlords, top government agents, government super weapons, Logia with God Complex, and their solo adventures.
In all likelihood the only reason Hodi&Decken can even team up now is because Jinbei left. Even the princes don't seem to think of the NFP as that much of a threat or a bigger deal would have been made when Hammond announced their presence to SH&Princes.
Also Hodi, we have seen him take some drugs to go and beat that ship, yes. Does this mean he isn't strong on his own? NO. It was just to show that crew how demonic they New Fishman Pirates can be. Read above. Not using your hand would not reduce your power by a lot when you have already boosted yourself 16x your usual strength. Its like Arlong thinking he was the shit for shattering a pillar with his teeth. Luffy just followed up by crushing a boulder with one hand. Using such a minor display of power to prove how strong you are just has the opposite effect to readers and characters who actually matter.
Don't jump to conclusions due to ONE SINGLE ACTION.
No we're coming up with conclusions based on over 600 chapters of OP that hint at the way things are going to proceed. Main villains are always big deals. The type of big deals these guys aren't made out to be. Their qualities are a lot similar to Franky, his family, Wiper, Abasolom, than every arc boss. Typically they are not revealed till later in the arc(Enel&Lucci) or they are hyped nonstop for their strength beforehand(Moria,Croc, and Arlong). The guys who are quickly revealed on the move with relatively small ambition are never the real threats.
Chapter wasnt bad … now the whole fishman devil fruit thing will open up a huge debate.. i hope oda explain it clearly so we stop getting strange comment about this... anyway lets see if this alliance will last and succed
There's one thing I can't figure out. If Megalo is the only creature the princess can hang out with, what was it doing 7000 meters higher getting bullied by a kraken in the first place?
maybe he got eaten by the Krakken and then the krakken went to the waterfall.
Hodi and jones vs Luffy AT THE SAME TIME!!
That would be good!
Lets be honest; I think either one may be able to take Luffy depending on if they show more but the way they are now they would make a formidable tag team. What we've seen from Sanji and Zoro they are tremendously stronger. Sanji is what I would guess near the same speed as pretimeskip Luffy and can use Dj every time. Zoro can use destructive attacks easily that measure up to gear third easily.
The whole Sanji vs Hodi and Zoro vs Van makes alot of sense but leaves Luffy with no one to fight. The only thing that makes it feasible is the whole Luffy destroying fishman island. The thought of it being van der decken is no longer feasible because he doesn't even have a strawhat or even look anything like Luffy. I think Neptune will beat Zoro or atleast trap him showcasing his power and he will fight Luffy in the end.
Though in the case that Luffy does not destroy fishman island purposefully he could instead fight Caribou. IMHO theirs no way Zoro and the rest can beat Neptune and his whole army. I think Luffy will eventually have to fight Neptune and his sons Possibly with Sanji and Chopper.
We also can't help but wonder about the crews. Decken is sure to have a powerful firstmate and we've already seem that Jones has many main fighters. This may be where the rest of the strawhats come in. This is where Luffy's haki blast might come in. Thing is though Luffy can't be everywhere at once.
Perhaps Muah meant the unintroduced brother of Hodi.
You know, the one that shot his woman down for messin' 'round with another man.

Van Der Dekkan wears a hat. Shirley saw a man with a hat - she assumed it was a StrawHat because she just met Luffy - hence the conclusion it was Luffy.
I can't but get the feeling that after Luffy leaves Fishman Island, Shirley will have another vision of Luffy's future and how he is gonna take the world by storm etc

I don't think you can mistake Vander decken with Luffy though. Even the hat is way different. Theres no reason to think she mistook Vander decken for Luffy. I doubt Hodi or Decken would even destroy FI. Fishman and merman generally like other fishman and merman. All they want to do is overthrow Neptune for not having fisman and merman pride.

Didn't Shirley Made a Prediction "ON" luffy ?
She did say she found luffy interesting so she looked into his future….
Luffy vs Fukaboshi
Zoro vs Ryuuboshi
Sanji vs Hodi Jones
Nami vs Shirley
Franky vs Caribo
Usopp vs Coribo
Robin vs Van der Decken
Chopper vs Manboshi
Brook vs Hyouzou
That's my prediction for the final battles.
No way, man, Zoro has to fight Hyozou, that fight is at the very least indisputable
I only see it in one pannel but I think Ryuuboshi sword is as rare as Ohm's cloud sword and Zoro is the one who has to fight all kinds of sword.
No way, man, Zoro has to fight Hyozou, that fight is at the very least indisputable
Hyozou seems strong, but he does not seem to at the level of Zoro.
