Just got caught up on like 5 weeks of comics. Long post coming.
Astonishing X-Men - Still loving this book. Retconning issues aside I like the fact that Emma is (as the title of the book implies) torn. Some damn great writing in the book. The "advanced self-pity" line and the very rough "I don't know what microcephalic moron thought you had the stones to run the company, but without Nick all you are is underfoot." Makes me think of Ellis. I'm really wondering where he is going with Emma, though. I've never trusted her, but now I'm curious.
X-Men - Apocalypse is back. Of all the enemies of the X-Men En Sabah Nur is one of the ones I like least for some reason, but I'm always interested, if only to see who the next horseman will be.
! Seems Remy may be next. The new issue ends with him sipping Apocalypse's Kool-Aid.
Uncanny X-Men - I like Rachel Grey and the book has been pretty solid in the post-HOM issues. I really like the new breed of sentinel and the, eh, interesting element having them camped on the lawn of the mansion brings to the book. Too much artist switch-off, though.
Ult Wolverine vs Hulk - Nice to have the backstory of what happened between the "execution" and the last issue but I was hoping for a little more action even if it is just Wolvie getting ripped in two again. I was amused by Banner being vegan and the Hulk eating anything made of meat. Even if it wasn't what I had hoped for it was still great.
Ultimates - Ult Hawkeye was badass and it pains me to say it. He was the ultimate dick in Ultimate Secret (exceptional series - read the trade).
Marvel Zombies - Zombie Marvel heroes vs Galactus! Sadly this latest issue was all setup for the big smackdown next issue. It was cool seeing some of the zombie bad guys, though. Next issue should be interesting.
X-Factor - One of the best books coming out right now. Top effing notch. I highly recommend it.
Bat-books (and extended family) - Some astounding stuff coming into the end of the crisis.
! Jason Todd is an ass and I hope that the Joker managed to kill him properly this time. I can't imagine that they'll allow this to be part of post crisis continuity, though, since the Joker blew himself and Jason up quite thoroughly.
Dick proposed to Babs! joy Don't eff this up DC!
I was certain in the last issue of Batgirl that Cassie - the current Batgirl - was dead but she is back in the new - and final - issue in which she snuffs Lady Shiva who also happens to be her mom. I really liked Cassie as Batgirl (which I never thought I would as I am an old-school Babs fan) and I hope they continue to do something useful with her post-crisis. Maybe slip her into Birds of Prey or something. Haven't read any real spoilers about what is coming for her yet. It's bad enough Spoiler had to die, but I don't want Cassie to disappear too.
Infinite Crisis - Um, yeah, I want to see Superboy Prime get a brutal beating. How many heroes did he maim or kill? Superman prime annoys me too. The next issue should be amazing. Superboy Prime seems unstoppable and we should see Brother Eye attacked at last.
Bone - One of the best comics ever. Haven't really looked at the new color editions. I've got the big big book and don't feel much need for color. If you can find the big big book then it is a great cheap way to read the whole thing.
Civil War - Not sure what is going on with the whole impending Civil War thing. I hope they make this better than House of M. Looks like it will be interesting.
Random Stuff - Ellis rules. Next Wave is pure excellence and Ultimate Extinction (hell, the whole Ultimate Trilogy) is great as well. Not digging the new Spidey costume, but it might grow on me. 52 looks like it could be cool but has a lot of potential to be inconsistent. I do like the promise of seeing a lot of smaller heroes get spotlight time. Really looking forward to Secret Six. Villains United was great and I'm hoping Secret Six carries the love on properly. Ms. Marvel has a trunk full of junk - in a good way. My rabbit just tried to eat New Excalibur #1. What is up with that? She has shown no interest in comics up until tonight.
