Excited about the Hellblazer: City of Demons trade coming out in May. Which is still the best Hellblazer story I've read in a while. Especially with my lack of interest in the current main storyline.

! I like John a lot but he's gotten nothing interesting to do in like forever. Or maybe Guy. (But he is doing quite a lot now) I have a harder time seeing Kyle getting knocked off, especially since he died for a bit already in Blackest Night and his growing relationship with Soranik. And Hal getting killed doesn't sound very likely to me, unless it's just for a really short time. Or the Guardians kill the hell out of him for "treason." Or the writers build more on his "instability." But I doubt that.
The first issue of Axe Cop came out today, from Dark Horse. It is amazing and deserves the support of everyone, because its the best thing EVER.
It's also a webcomic, I think.

Several years ago I bought like 200 Spectacular Spiderman comics books for like $70…yeah I have like half of the Clone Saga. I used to subscribe to Amazing Spiderman, I did that for a couple of months. I have a ton of Simpsons Comics, which I don't buy anymore. I also have Fantastic Four #1-10 on hardcover.
He only has two known weaknesses: Being surprised (which causes him to melt), and Cherry Rainbow candy canes.
With a description like that, there's no way this series can't be good.

Just finished reading Grant Morrison's New X-Men run and the Joss Whedon Astonishing X-Men that followed.
Absolutely amazing. One of the highs of X-Men stories of the past 10, maybe 20 years.
I found Amazing Spider-Man 655 to be absolutely fantastic. Beautifully done issue. Martin's art and layout is present-day quality while having a nostalgic style that makes it feel like a classic issue from the '60s. The usage of all the pain and suffering was extremely well done.
I also want to say thank you to each and every one of you who mentioned Axe Cop and got me curious enough to pick up the issue. Absolutely amazing stuff.

The TV series will be written by a genuine retard though, who retooled WW to a procedural show and uses it to shove down his political agenda down our throat.

Everything's too damn shiny/plastic-looking on that costume. If it was made with slightly more natural-looking materials instead of plastic and vinyl, I'd like it a lot better. Also, needs red boots; too much blue going on, needs to be broken up.
In other news, is anyone else looking into the "The Lone Ranger: The Death of Zorro" four part mini-series starting this month? I'm kinda excited to get it.
I can't but help to be reminded of the Apocalypse vs. Dracula crossover and how it tried to pull you in with that horror-y cover featuring Apocalypse smugly holding up a decapitated head, only for the story itself to suck so bad that it had Apocalypse fight sewer rats longer then Dracula.
Hey, has Runaways ever been mentioned on this thread. It probably has due to its semi-manga feel, but I'm too lazy to search for it. As for me I really liked that series, it along with Y: The Last Man made Brian K. Vaughan my favorite writer.

I like them both equally. There's periods of time where I read one more than the other but they both have great stories/characters. Artwise, I prefer american comics though.

Glad to see someone else who appreciates both of the two major comics industries. Sometimes I feel shunned by the American comics people for liking manga and shunned by the manga people for liking American comics, but I think most people are accepting.
I also have times where I'm more interested in one than the other, I just think as a whole I've spent about equal time on both of them. At the moment I'm more interested in manga but I can always go for American comics. I get why more people read manga than American comics, though. A lot of people can't get into superheroes because of the decades of continuity. I can respect that I don't really have a problem with the continuity but I can see why other people would.
However these people tend to ignore that there's plenty of comics that aren't superheroes and don't have the decades of continuity. There's even some superhero comics like Ultimate Marvel, Runaways, Astonishing X-Men, All-Star Superman and a few others where continuity isn't a problem.
My Hero Academia is my favorite manga series right now. At least so long as the high of its greatness remains. United States of Smash.
I prefer American Comics. I like the realism. Although, I would love any American Comic as a manga. They can be the same, though, but it depends on the artist, I guess.

Same here. I like how everything is just…one big universe. It's all one story, really. The first thing I read was Blackest Night from the library...and I discovered so much more!! My favorite comic was either Flash: Rebirth or Batman: The Killing Joke.

Continuity is a gift and a curse. Some comics and fans are slaves to it. I realized quite a while back that the best thing for me was to jump on with a good creative team and ignore the rest. Usually a good writer won't bring up things like Cap's armor or the bone claws, though guys like Grant Morrison can do it without making you wince too much.
Whedon's X-Men was the best when it came to continuity balance.

So, I know that an animated series is coming up based on the "Ultimate Spider-Man" comics, and it was what basically is to replace "The Spectacular Spider-Man" TV series.
So I decided to buy and read the first couple of collections of the Ultimate Spider-Man comic, and I have to say that I'm really loving it so far. I'm definitely gonna keep on reading until I eventually catch up with the current (though that will probably be a while from now).
If this animated series is anything like the comic it's to be based off of, it should be great.
You should read all Ultimate series. They're fun.

Still crossing my fingers that Kitty Pryde will be a supporting character in the USM cartoon. The Shroud was on a recently released promo picture, so that's a good sign.

Just like with Japanese or American comics, they have their fair share of great, mediocre and bad titles. Though, there is a certain richness of styles, genres and sensibilities, not present in either Japan or USA. It's surprising how much the authors and titles vary from one country to the other. From UK to France, from Spain to Belgium, from Italy to Croatia, etc.
For example, you have a penciller like the Spaniard Jordi Bernet, who tells these brilliant hard-boiled and brutal gangster stories in his Torpedo, drawn in a style which is part humor, part pin-up.
Then you've got a guy like the Italian Hugo Pratt, who told these fascinating globe-trotting stories of an English sailor named Corto Maltese. Reading these tales makes you wish you could simply drift in the waters of the Pacific.
Next, there's the Frenchman Rene Goscinny, who probably would've been a top-class stand-up comedian, if he hadn't decided to be a comic book writer. His Asterix is a tale of a small courageous Gaul and his adventures in his Roman-occupied homeland (and abroad). And it's laugh-out loud funny.
The Englishman John Wagner tells an SF epic in his Judge Dredd, a story of a cynical judge, jury and executor in a dirty, savage and hopeless future.
There are a lot of comedy books, some light-hearted and some a bit grittier, a lot of crime titles, a lot of war and slice-of-life titles, covering different topics. There's a huge lot of history-themed comics, a lot of adventure, sex and violence.
Work-for-hire is rare, most titles are creator-owned, some titles get continued with different authors if they get the original author's blessing.
I could go on and on like this. I could speak days about authors like Frank Bellamy, Jean Giraud, Giancarlo Berardi, Darko Macan, Jean-Michel Charlier, Frank Hampson, Herge, Edvin Biuković, Magnus, Enrique Sanchez-Abuli, Winshluss, Lewis Trondheim…

She doesn't become a major recurring character till she starts dating Peter in USM annual 1, but I doubt they'll be directly adapting the entire comic, more like taking pieces and adding new stuff. Why else hire an entire team of writers like an actual TV show?
European comics aren't too accessible to me, but there seems to be a great deal of them that appeal to me.

Yeah the biggest problem of European comics is that they aren't particularly accessible compared to American comics and Manga. As an American I wouldn't know where to look for them.
