Has anyone asked for this?
SQUARE ENIX - Single Player RPGs are dead?
-
Has anyone asked for this?
-
Given no one asked for Dissidia, FF4: The After Years, XIII-2/Lightning Returns, FFXI, and those janky looking smartphone ports I'm going to take a stab in the dark and say no:ninja:.
-
There's moreā¦ desert :ninja: (and also some restricted deserted areas).
But is it FUN desert?
And how fucking long does it take to reach a city, or even a village?
-
But is it FUN desert?
It's flat and immense and the heat is intense, it's barbaric, but hey, it's home.

Couldn't the Switch handle the full FFXV? Seriously.
Who knows because this isn't for Switch, it's for mobile devices.
-
They did imply that FFXV was in some form coming to a console that rhymed with "Twitch."
So probably the Snitch, although more than likely it's the mobile version being ported over to the switch seeing as it's a lighter weight version
-
Okay seriously, what the hell?!
-
ā¦
...you know Square-Enix, despite all the shit you shovel out, once in a while you bring something like this out and then I have no choice but to start loving you all over again.
-
It looks better than the FF5 and 6 remakes at least.
Considering Japan is remaking the whole series, it'd be nice if we finally got Seiken Densetsu 3 brought over. And the first one with a non"-Final Fantasy Adventure" title.
-
I think I saw that Secret of Mana was coming to the Switch in Japan
-
-
six Ultis at once is just gonna be absolute bullet hell
bring it on -

Coming December 2003.

See, the fact that it took anyone three weeks to point this out is telling on the fact no one even knew it existed.
Also, gameboy advance? Why not the SNES where it belonged?
And with no fanfare or real acknowledgement that is was the SoM sequel? Since they released a TON of titles with the "mana" name that weren't connected at all.
Well, nice to know they ported it at some point. But not for an actual console where you can couch play with friends, which is kind of the entire point of SoM.

There was a major backlash when it came out, but I never really understood why. I guess it was the multiplayer thing?

Wait what?
Sword of Mana is a remake of Seiken Densetsu 1, a Gameboy game and prequel to Secret of Mana/Seiken Densetsu 2.

So the thing Robo just posted ISN'T Seiken Densetsu 3? It's just a remake of 1?
Well then I retract everything I said and go back to "why the hell was this never released" then, and explains why I never heard about it coming out.
Stop confusing things Robo.

You asked for Seiken Densetsu 1 with a non-Final Fantasy Adventure title, so I delivered. :P

You should have clipped the appropriate part of the quote.
Or clarified after I commented on it.

Good for him. But 8 is still my favorite
The correct answer was 6.
It would be awesome to see all of the PSX Final Fantasies on the Switch though.

Well, if ain't the prince.

Noctis alt costume is his suit and he has 1 more coming, hoping for his older form but will just be the normal Noct with Kings Garb.
Also Promo art for TGS:
Something more the lines of this should be the box art instead of the shit ones they got.For reference this is NT boxart:
-
Suprised Noctis isn't on the cover
-
Also Promo art for TGS:
Noctis didn't get the memo concerning the "non-normalcy" dress code it seems.

He's a fantasy based on reality kind of guy.
-
Mariachi Noctis please
I need that spicy, spicy boy teaming up with Dancer Bartz for a five-alarm spicy combo

Nier is a major franchise for them now and they are moving forward with GaaS.

I've never played one of them Dissidias but they look pretty damn handsome. I figure they've got some sort of story in em, is it more FF-elaborate or standard fighting game barebones?
Unrelated, but I've been background listening to a FFX Let's Play recently and I've been surprised by how much I'm enjoying the early parts of the story and characters. Even Tidus doesn't grate on me as much as he used to when I was younger. I'd much rather see a future protagonist like him than like insufferably miserable edgelords like Squall and Lightning. I'd feel bad suggesting future love interests should be more like Yuna though, although I'd prefer her as a model to aspire to over something like manic pixie dream girl Rinoa and her anime pacifism >.<. I haven't played any of XV yet but going by looks Noctis seems to be more in the mopey edgelord camp, although hopefully I'm wrong on that. Unfortunately the trailers and the cover art don't really make it clear which of the guys is supposed to be his anime love interest though so I can't really comment on how it looks like Square's going there.
-
The previous Dissidias had a story. It was basically "heroes have been summoned to the end of the world to fight and they're all being themselves" but it was a story.
No telling what the new one is going to offer.
-
Wow.
Thanks for the info. But yeah. So definitely a big dose of option B then.
-
Square Enix has declared single player games dead.
Gone are the days in which single-player games were of primary status and multiplayer games secondary.
-
Indeed! We must look to the Horizon, for a new Dawn of games! There is Zero chance for anymore single player, so don't hold your Breath for any Wild chances!
-
If only there was a RPG series that since 1996 made single player and multi seamless and interconnected without detracting from neither.
-

Couldn't work Nioh or Nier Automata in there huh?

Failing that, there's Dragon Quest 9 and 10.
The Square half should really visit the Enix half once in a while.
-
That's certainly some good ol' reactionary hyperbole right there, mm-hm
-
-
With all of Square's current plans going on, I had thought they had finally got their heads out of their asses. I guess with the hype they've been building lately, they just bought the proper lubrication to go right back in.
I kind of read this while playing FFRK multiplayer, and let me tell you, multiplayer is the biggest pain in the ass in that game.
