sticks with her Mediterranean climate :P
And hey! if I want to see dead trees and snow, I can drive up to Troodos in 45 minutes, in December and then go back to Limassol in the evening with snow on the top of my car to toss it at people. Like we do every year~
Confession Session - LOCK THIS THREAD

In the picture I posted on the top of the page I could make myself a damn igloo.
-
I think that would be pretty cool to drive 45 minutes away and have cold and snow and then be able to drive back to my house where it's nice and toasty shorts weather. is jealous
-
New Mexico: Where it's 110 one day and -20 the next. :ermm:
Okay, not really, but we did get that cold back in February, I think. I remember walking home from school in it…
But fuck the 110s we've been having like everyday.
-
The most my area has gotten with me living here was 26 inches. Everything was closed for like a week, plus the snow was so high snowblowers wouldn't work, so people who used those had to slowly shovel instead.
-
From 10°c to 18°c would be normal to me
-

It would be even cooler to live in suburbs and be able to drive for an hour or so and be in new york city.
-
Today I woke up to my mom's voice. She tried to calm down her grandma, my great grandma.
Sometimes, it seems she can't be calmed down, because she finds something to cry at (like not finding a book or a spoon.) My brother lives with her, but he can't do much.
I think my great grandma may have schizophrenia. I guess it's not that surprising as she's 90 years old. -

I just finished my Great Gatsby exam; that seemed to happen a lot hah!

The confession thread has successfully turned into a thread about the damn weather. Fail, guys. Fail.
And Chrissie why I oughta…
-
Minnesota is damn unpredictable with its weather. We had freaking snow in MAY. After years of not snowing properly for Christmas time, you decide to dump mountains of snow on us and stay there for an inordinate number of months, teasing all the while like it's gonna go away and then bring our hopes crashing down with the next heap of snow. I will mail BFF, Sea, and Chrissie snow next winter.

On another note, I hate driving. I hate the thought of driving. I know that it's a necessary skill when you live in the U.S., but I have fear about driving cars and paranoia about getting into an accident. It puts me into a really foul mood. Today my bro took me to a parking lot so I could start getting the hang of turning. Couldn't stop scowling and I was tense as hell. Every freakin' other person knows how to drive a vehicle. Why am I so useless. >_<

Driving is not something everyone gets right away. It took me over a year and one car accident later before I started improving. I'm not saying that you need to get in a car accident or anything but it's not something you need to worry that much about. Driving ability is very much something that improves over time.
-
So wait… Your answer to her fear of getting into a car accident... Was to tell her she has nothing to worry about when you, yourself, have gotten into a car accident...?
Excellent.~
-
I say not to worry because the car accident wasn't my fault.
What I'm saying is you don't have to be too concerned about it. Driving skill comes with time.
My mistake for the misconception.

I didn't like driving much either when I got my license (with 17). I wasn't afraid of it, I just really didn't like it.
Because I wasn't 18 yet I was only allowed to drive with my parents next to me, which was just goddamn stupid. Even though they didn't say anything most of the time I knew what they were thinking ("C'mon, go a little faster" - "Sheesh, it's not that difficult to fit in there, why are you taking so long?"). And I don't like being watched while doing something I'm not used to yet/feel insecure about.
I ended up only driving, like, five times for an entire year. Which really helped develop driving skills and all.
Then I got a car for my 18th birthday. I got to choose it two months earlier. And I gotta tell you, the moment I laid eyes on that beauty, I knew it was true love. I didn't even know that THAT was the car I was supposed to get, I just saw it and though "Wow … if only my car will be anywhere near as great as this one..." I was against getting a car - I didn't like driving after all - but at that precise moment I didn't care anymore.
It was a totally new feeling. Driving your own car on your own. Ever since I've been madly in love with driving. If gas wasn't so expensive I would totally drive around all the time just to relax.
What I'm trying to say: You might suddenly start liking driving once you have your license and aren't under pressure/constantly watched anymore. Don't worry.I wasn't very good at driving (read: parking
yes I am a woman now shut up) when I got my license and the one year of nearly no driving at all didn't help. But you only really learn how to drive once you already have your license anyway.
So don't worry if you need a while to get the hang of it. Everyone does. -
Aww PM. I was terrified to drive. I waited until I was in college–20 or 21, maybe. Even then I took my slow sweet time learning. Now I am a bit of a speed demon, I admit. Anywho, the point is, if I can learn to drive, anyone can. Just give yourself some time.
-
With my fears now extinct (for now), I see some great things in my future.
as:Learn how to drive.
Buy a DS.
Find a job.
Socialize with others.
[hide] [hide] [hide] [hide] losing my virginity [/hide][/hide][/hide][/hide]I'm more confident in myself and I think: "Do things are finally going right for Mr. Lucas?"
How long this "strike of luck" will last ?Remember my mother ?
Well, she was better, she even began dating a guy she met on the Internet, everything was going well until the guy break up with my mother. Then she went back to being depressive and out of love with life. But I'm able to handle the situation better than before.
I want to help her, but I see that´s not enough to make her happy. -
Thanks for trying to reassure me guys. It's like pulling teeth with me, but I hope I learn to loosen up eventually. Especially since I can't keep relying on other people forever. It's one of my fears, that I'll never learn how to be independent.
-
@Uncle:
So wait… Your answer to her fear of getting into a car accident... Was to tell her she has nothing to worry about when you, yourself, have gotten into a car accident...?

Clearly the answer is to be terrified.
-
I will mail BFF, Sea, and Chrissie snow next winter.
Yes yes yes! Please do this! I sometimes joke with my friends that I'll marry whoever mails me snow So if you do it, I can marry you and we can live together in a huge creaky old house and throw slime-covered rocks at those annoying people who talk too loudly and walk too slowly.
Sometimes I seriously hate how we have no seasons. It's just temperature weather all year round. Other than not being able to see snow, we also don't get beautiful seasons like autumn. The lowest recorded temperature here is 19.4 C, back in 1934.

Oh sweetheart. I started out terrible at driving too. Once, when I was still learning and practising in the circuit, I wanted to slow to a brake at the stop line. But it wasn't slow enough and I was sleepy so I thought 'hey why don't I try another pedal' (I drive auto btw) and I slammed down on the other pedal… which of course was the accelerator. The car shot forward and my instructor slammed down on the brake instantly. XD Thankfully there were no other cars around. My point is, I still passed! (After my second try.) I remember the instructor telling me that there's no such thing as someone not being able to drive; everyone is able to learn, regardless of their intelligence or physical coordination.
Also my dad told me something after I passed: it's normal to get into accidents after you just pass. (He actually told me that he was expecting me to.) And 9 times out of 10 it's not as bad as you think. The point is not to be reckless, but to relax and not give yourself pressure. Just try to keep practising and get a feel of it. I promise that it will come to you eventually :)

I don't know how to ride a bike.
I learned how to drive a car.
-
I'm just so confused, and a little hurt. I lurk a lot, but I don't think any of the people I've read are very mean at all.
"This isn't AP, our goal isn't condescending snark."

Is the Greg from this www.raftelforums.com the same Greg from here?

The confession thread has successfully turned into a thread about the damn weather. Fail, guys. Fail.
im going on a vegas trip for 6 days where monday and tuesday are strictly for recovery purposes where i just lay out in my hotel room and order room service and take baths.
ill be due for another another set of confessions.
-
My friends are all learning how to drive, but my City isn't that big. I'll stick with the bus. I honestly think I'd probably kill someone. I'm to scared to let myself get behind the wheel because I don't think I could handle the responsibility.
-
@Monkey:
I don't know how to ride a bike.
Hey, me neither! About five years ago a friend of mine tried to teach me but after several bleeding road rashes I gave up. Haven't touched a bike since, but I'd very much like to learn someday.
Driving… eh. Can't afford driver's education on my own and all my friends who have licenses had their lessons paid by their folks. No such thing for me, so I'd estimate it'll take at least four years before I can afford it.
Also yeah, winters are nice. Even though here they last for six months.
-
I've had driver's license since last October but I never drive… Mostly because I don't have a car or money to buy one, but also because I'm seriously terrified of accidents too and I get pretty nervous when driving, especially if I have other people with me. I guess I could get rid of it by driving more but then again, no car :P
-

And Chrissie why I oughta…
The weather is an interesting subject to discuss. =x
And what? D: What did I do?
Marimo hun, I'll be looking forward to that snow =P
Also, I don't like driving much either. Like Buster Call I was late in getting my license xD And I still haven't driven on my own. My mom doesn't trust me enough for that. =P -
Driving really isn't that scary. I used to be like paranoid while driving but now I honestly find it pretty relaxing nowadays. I look forward to my hour long road trips up to my parent's cottage now.
-
I got the money for a driver license for my 18th Birthday. I started to take lessons, payed aroun 110€ because my mother insisted in it. But after 3 weeks I just quit it, went to berlin with some friend and spend all my money on clothes and stuff
Well, not all the money, the rest of the money I spend on other things. 1200€ spend in 4months Happy time.I don't regret that actually. I wasn't ready to make my license.
Having a car and driving around would be nice now, but I don't feel too bad for not having a license. I'm young, I have time
(And I definitely want an Audi 80/90 someday ) -
I guess it also depends heavily in where you live. Ie difference between living around a crowded CBD, or a sparsely populated place with long winding roads and that. I'm the former.
Although more accidents happen in country roads as opposed to in city so …

Oh don't let Greg get to you too much, dear. He can be a tad snarky himslf, as he proved right there with that comment, but he's really a good guy, and he's been living in Japan for years, where snark doesn't exist, really, at least not the way it does here, so his perspective on it can be a bit different from our perspective, despite his being American and all.
And tbh, there are places on the forums where things have gotten somewhat out of hand, at times. The important thing to keep in mind is that when it counts, people here are real, and genuinely supportive of each other (no intended comparisons to other forums, real or imagined, are to be construed from that, FTR.) I personally am truly proud to count myself a member of this community.

Europe is doing it wrong when it takes as much money to get your license as it does to buy a car.
-
Meuh oO I think my license cost like $60. The main costs, which were pretty heavy, came from the lessons.

Word.
My car cost 2000€, my license (including ALL costs) about 2200€.btw, I learned how to ride a bike when I was eight. My grandma taught me on Mother's Day back then … next to a river. Yeah, great idea, grandma. Thankfully I learned it very fast and didn't drown.
In a very short time I had a handful of serious biking accidents. I still have countless (big) scars from those.
In the three years I've been driving I only ever lightly touched a car while pulling out of a parking lot once (which cost 900€ to repair, apparently. I still don't get why, it was just a tiny, 3cm scratch that wasn't very deep). -
You see this Smudge? She's trying to seduce me!
what. YOU said that not me! >_>
I just pointed out your dirty thoughts! -
People are only supportive to you if they actually like you.
i know, that goes without saying. XD
just adding some input to buster call's statement.i like pretty much everyone, so you can all expect my support whenever you need it. :)
-
