Why is this guy so surprised indeginous people use bows and arrows? Did he expect them to have kalachnikovs or something?
Why do people hate James Cameron's Avaturd?
-

Goddammit, James Cameran. Terminator is cool but you're just an asshole. Glad the fucker didn't win Best Picture, he shouldn't be allowed to make any more movies. Just give the couple hundred million dollars he requests to Chris Nolan.
-
Uhh, could we please change the title to something that makes sense. I really came into this thread expecting to hear about some newly announced Wayne's World movie >_>
-
Get with the program, you've been around since 2005.
-
Also, I find that "mud people" line to be kinda offensive, on top of being instensely arrogant
im sure this was all a metaphor for his animation team

Its been the title of this thread for months and months.
And I prefer seeing the phrase "Wayne's World" because then I think "Ah yes, that was an awesome movie." As opposed to Avatar, which was not only bad, but Last Airbender (which is also Avatar) was bad too and just makes me upset every time I see the title. It was changed to "Avaturd" before that, which also bothered some people, for some reason.
But I suppose the joke has passed, I'll go ahead and change it to an easier more recognizable title. It's very plain and not creative, but I'll concede the point.
-
My mother is the very reason I hate this movie.
I adore my mother, and I have my own opinion of the movie (poor writing, decent visuals, overhype). My mother fell for the hype….BAD. She really believed this was the best movie ever, and she LOVED Titanic.
So when we saw the movie, it, as known, wound up being the piece of crap it was, she hated more than I ever could. Her rage with the movie has yet to end.
-
@James:
They couldn't care less about movies.
Makes me positively blue with envy.
-
Awesome new title robby.
I take it everyone has heard about the sequel. And a possible threequel.
Oh, and the re-release with 9 minutes of never before seen footage.
Lets not forget Titanic 3D while we're at it. -

I'm gonna say no.
- scenes set in the rainforest, some at night
- a hunting sequence
- plenty of flying
- an emotional scene near the end
- a Na’vi counterattack after the bulldozer attack
- more of Grace at the school
- the Stingbat and Stumbeat creatures
- more of the glad love scene
-
I watched this movie a few weekends ago and I thought of it as just a movie. It's nothing spectacular or amazing to me. Honestly it reminded me of a videogame and it felt like it should of been one instead of a movie.
-
Apparently the Avatar video game really sucked.
-
-
Fixed it for you.
We've spent the whole thread talking about that, this was a new twist.
-
Roger Ebert's review of this movie should be in the humor thread.
In all seriousness… Well, it doesn't change that much. It still is laughable. xD
-
Omigoshomigosh.
File this under 'I can't believe he actually whined about this when he was once the director of the original sequel'.
This is really remarkable.

I heard the same. I mean….REALLY bad.

Not a shocker. He doesn't understand the popularity of bad horror movies.

Bad horror movies in summary.
I deem this the "Army of Darkness" clause.
Army of Darkness was awesome but not really a horror movie.
-
Army of Darkness was awesome but not really a horror movie.
In my eyes, it was a bad horror movie that was an awesome film.
"So bad, it's good."

Now I'm not even willing to find the respect that I lost for him.

"We shouldn't be using 3D for cheesy horror movies, because it cheapens the medium. Instead we should be using it to make blue cat aliens jump out at people."

You realize this is what he's really saying.
It's not like Jason 3D was the last breath of a dying franchise.
"Yeah but he means small flicks going 3D is bad because now studios are pouring-"
He's saying some movies are better than others because of names and dollar signs attached to them.
I have NOTHING against this man or his success. I would kill for him to make a True Lies 2.
And yet everything that leaves this man's mouth since the release of THAT movie infuriates me with his arrogance.
-
I wish Avatar had flopped like it deserved to.
But no. Pretty graphics are enough, doesn't matter if the story is shitty, seems to be the standard.
I mean after all, Transformers 3 is coming.
-
Fuck James Cameron.

I agree with this.
He was great until he got on that high horse of his.

do you think this movie can work with having two sequels ?
or do you think the movie should have stayed at 1 film? -
The movie sucked in one film, it doesn't need to suck with another 2.
How do you even sequel a film that rips off Pocahontas, Ferngully, Last Samurai, etc?
-
It would be a worldwide hit sadly anyway…
-
James Cameron is going to need three bank accounts to put all the money in.
-
The neat-o of the 3-D will have faded, the 10 years of hype are gone, and people that activley disliked the first one won't be tricked into seeing it in theatres again, so it won't do AS well… but it's still probably going to pull in close to a billion+ dollars.
Each.
Sigh.
-

Quick! Someone marry and divorce James Cameron. We can stop this.
-
I wish a disease would eradicate Pandora so we don't have a sequel or threequel.

as stated, one was too much.

oh BALLZ I can see this happening. And then with that money, he can rip off another movie and fancy it up with the new hip thing.
Unless by some chance these next two movies are of James Cameron apologizing about all the hype he created for Avatar, I'll be happy to let you all know that he ain't getting my money :ninja:

Mine either.
When I got out of the first, I thought it was ok (especially after watching Gi joe) but I will not watch a sequel for all i care.
-
For some reason, I have a hard time imagining how Pandora could survive an assault against an entire human military forces if they decide to go that way.
-
The only news here is the release dates.
Avatar 2 will focus on the oceans of pandora (guess why)
Avatar 3 will focus on space or something like that. -

Whatever. I didn't much care for the first one, but I still bought it. It's not anywhere near decent, but I can watch it.
-

With sequals, its not about how good they are, but largely how well known or how good the movie before them was. Pirates of the Caribean 2, Spiderman 3, Shrek 3, Ice Age all made more money than the film before them, regardless of how bad they may have been
Pirates 3 and Shrek 4 did less well, but still huge.
Avatar made 2 billion. Even if it does 75% less well than the first, that's still 500 million. And… its probably not going to drop that much, since there are a bunch of people that kept going back for the first one.
-
We should be polling which movies the sequels will rip off.
My bet's on #2 being a bastardization of Nausica, while #3 will be StarCraft slash Starship Troopers.
-
Quick! Someone marry and divorce James Cameron. We can stop this.
I'm on it !
Now if only he'd come to Massachusets :ninja:
-
Cameron needs to not work on this and instead work on the Battle Angel Alita movie.
-

Yeah really. Battle Angel Alita is one of my favorite manga, I have high expectations for the movie.
