yeah that seems to be the only logical explanation as to why the soldiers refused to act when he was killed. his people didn't like him and thought he was a coward probably.

It's not like he keept them alive, feed and outside the war that ravaged the rest of the country/continent, because they have so little amount of soldiers that they have to inflate the numbers to keep apareances.
I wonder what Ellaria Sand thinks about all of this:
@Ellaria:
"Oberyn wanted vengeance for Elia. Now the three of you want vengeance for him. I have four daughters, I remind you. Your sisters. My Elia is fourteen, almost a woman. Obella is twelve, on the brink of maidenhood. They worship you, as Dorea and Loreza worship them. If you should die, must El and Obella seek vengeance for you, then Dorea and Loree for them? Is that how it goes, round and round forever? I ask again, where does it end? I saw your father die. Here is his killer. Can I take a skull to bed with me, to give me comfort in the night? Will it make me laugh, write me songs, care for me when I am old and sick?"
-
I have no idea how Dorne played out in the books, so I don't mind the backstabbing-shenanigans that much…I just can't stand Ellaria and her immense, stupifying brashness. Theres all sorts of scheming assholes in GoT-land, but the "We neeed REVENGE and to NOT BE WEAK, peace is for LOSERS, we should all go and throw away our lives now! For HONOR and PRIDE!!" is just so damn aggravating. And really, what the hell should have been done regarding Oberyn? "Our prince accepted a duel and lost fair and square, this means WAAAAAAAAAAR"? Yeah, Ellaria probably thinks so.
She's the kind of character who would get absolutely eviscerated in a Discworld novel, and whats worse, represents the real-life mentality most insanely frustrating to me. I hope she gets absolutely destroyed and outsmarted, and for someone to yell GODDAMN THIS WAS STUPID OF YOU, YOU HAVE ACCOMPLISHED NOTHING to her defeated face.
Apart from that, better opener than season 5; there were cheers and rejoicing at the Brienne scene, easily the highlight this week.
-
I saw Brienne coming in that scene a mile away. And that's not even in the books.

It's played out very, very differently so far.
! Basically, the Sand Snakes and Doran's daughter Arianne run around for a bit trying to provoke a war with the Lannisters as revenge for Oberyn and Elia and end up getting Myrcella injured but not killed. Doran then captures them and tells them to sit down and shut up because he's got multiple plans in the works to depose the Lannisters and place a Martell in the royal family. Ellaria is instead a voice for peace and a pretty minor character.
! Unfortunately, two or three of Doran's plots involve characters and subplots that don't appear in the TV show. Doran's got about 6 characters off on various diplomatic/assassination missions but those involved too many plotlines and characters for the show. So instead we get two seasons of trash and the Sand Snakes going completely off the book rails. -
There's also Doran's other son, Quentyn, who gets shipped off to Essos and meets a hilarious ending

! Best death so far! lol
-
Quentyn's whole thing doesn't really go any where though. I guess he moves a couple pieces around but nothing that couldn't be accomplished without a POV.

! Doesn't he unleash the other 2 dragons though?
-
! Doesn't he unleash the other 2 dragons though?
! Yeah, his two big contributons are releasing the two dragons and enabling Barristan's deal with the Tattered Prince. Is that really worth investing four chapters in the character?
-
Book thread people. I don't care but it's there for a reason. Leave the migthy morphing sand snakes here, and the true shcemers that infiltrated everything there.
-
Well….THAT HAPPENED.
Worst secret ever.
-
! And now Balon Watch has ended, all hail king Euron, may he live forever.
-
Welp. I'm pleased with this episode lol.
-
Oh my god, yaaaaayyyyyyy!~ And could somebody please just fucking kill Ramsay already? That bastard really needs to die.
-
So.. is he like an anti-white walker now? because I don't think he's really mortal right now. What happened with Khal Drogo, and Milisandre's note about how this thing shouldn't be messed with, make me suspicious.
Book people, if you know anything about it (don't know where the books stop), shush.About the rest of the episode, I cringed a bit when they used the overthrowing card twice in a row. Plus, Sir Davos resorting to her magic so quickly, and to revive a person no less, felt a bit out of character. But was otherwise nice.
-
Eh…
! Considering how this guy got killed and resurrected 7 times, there doesn't seem to be very much repercussions and seems more or less OKAY (aside from feeling funky and having memory loss)
!
! PS: For all the book folks, surely I wasn't the only one that got a chuckle out of Balon falling off a bridge. The Lord of Light certainly took its time with him in the tv show…unlike in the book where he got knocked off (unceremoniously off screen) before Joffrey. -

This season probably.

We've got no fucking clue, mate, but five years of speculation have led to some interesting theories. I certainly expect to see some sort of price paid next episode, be it from him, Melisandre, or someone else. The ritual itself seemed a bit underwhelming.
Regarding the rest of the episode, I find it a testament to the gulf between the books and show that I can hate Roose's guts in the books but actually be sad when he dies here, if only because he's a much more compelling character than Ramsay. Like, this is totally believable and consistent with their portrayal of Ramsay, but he's basically a psychopath who runs around killing people in nothing but plot armor.
Tyrion's dragon scene was great and very tense even if he obviously wasn't going to die. Arya was fine I guess, and though I rolled my eyes when took Theon to be meaning Pyke when he said he's going home, someone elsewhere pointed out that he might mean Winterfell. Either way, I'm curious to hear how show-only folks felt about the reintroduction of the Greyjoys. Euron was playing up the megalomania and being a total drama queen but I enjoyed the staging nonetheless.
-
! uhhh…that's pretty much nothing compared to what Beric Dondarion went through; and I'm PRETTY sure Thoros wasn't there 24/7 to make sure he was kept alive immediately after he was killed. Jon will be fine...and heck that's also nothing compared to what (BOOK EXCLUSIVE CHARACTER) went through when she was resurrected.
-

Didn't really feel anything about it. Euron will now get his turn to rock the boat (pun maybe intended) in the north (maybe after Ramsay royally fails at being "Lord Bolton"), and Asha probably won't get the throne now.
EDIT: Just got majory spoiled about the Iron Islanders from the wikipedia page about the sixth book. How stupid of me.

Beric specifically stated that he felt less human and less alive after each time. He straight up asks Thoros when he'll let him stay dead. And you can't tell me LS is fine.
-
Even Benjen is more alive than Gendry.
-

! Beric also was resurrected 7 times and so unless Jon Snow recklessly gets himself killed multiple times, I don't think that's a problem. Not to mention, Beric also suffered considerably worse damage in comparison. Same goes for LS whose body was in considerably worse shape. So yeah, the point being, unless there's some sort of longer term ramifications behind resurrection that we don't know about, then I think Jon should be fine because there are at least two characters (one being book specific but..whatever shrug) that got it considerably worse than Jon.
PS: I love how Benjen gets like…name dropped every now and then. It's like "Don't FORGET GUYS! He's STILL OUT THERE!" I'm going to just presume at this point that Gendry fell off his boat and drowned.
-
so balon who wanted to rule as a king died and in stead euron who seems like a crazy pirate wants to just plunder as ironbornes should do. Asha could get what she wants in the end
-
i liked this episode. i found it ironic that roose got killed the same way he killed robb, karma is a bitch.
ramsay was so cruel in these last two episodes, feeding his dogs to his dead lover and now walda and her son. his brother is in no way a threat to him after he killed his father and took the lead, but the fucker just doesn't want to take any chances "i prefer being an only child".
im not sure however, if i want to see a battle between the nightswatch and the wildlings against the boltons army and their allies right now. i guess they have to make the north do something in this season instead of sitting around, but i would've preferred them allying with the nightswatch to fight the whitewalkers together.
@BellisarioFaith:And could somebody please just fucking kill Ramsay already? That bastard really needs to die.
why? ramsay is the best antagonist in this show imo, right behind the the white walkers king.
-

He feels to me like someone not very skilled who managed to get as far as he has by a series of lucky coincidences. The writers seem to be having fun with him but his scenes are the most tedious for me.
-
ramsey doesnt come across as a real person, other people seem more balansed
-
I really loved the mood in this episode. So sombre. Everyone's so beaten, yet at the same time, mostly everyone's moving into their final positions. Some are calling the ending predictable but that is really inevitable. Doesn't matter how. What comes after is the best.
It has taken 6 seasons but I'm finally glad to be watching Bran's story.
! Kit should just go and high five everyone he sees in the street. Finally free of this burden.
-
Ramsay is a sociopath with no self control (unlike Roose who was a sociopath with incredible self control.) He's not a person, he just tries to act like one.
-
Bolton died in the same way he killed Rob.
-
WAR OF FIVE KINGS FINAL SCORE
Renly "Style-No-Substance" Baratheon - killed by shadow nephew
Robb "My Vassals Are Idiots" Stark - betrayed by douchebags
Joffrey "Fuck The King" Bartheon-Lannister - poisoned by an old woman and died like a dog
Stannis "My Life Is Suffering" Baratheon - screwed over by the Red God, died sad
Balon "Dumbest Person In Westeros" Greyjoy IX - thrown off a bridge after technically winning -
if we're gonna go by karma then i predict ramsay is gonna get killed by his own dogs, or eaten by a pack of wolves or something.
-
Feed him his own dick first.
-
Don't forget to filet him too before he croaks.
-
I really hope the show (and books) don't lean too heavily into karmic deaths. Have Littlefinger or Ellaria killed by some random peasant, for instance.
-
! I like how nobody is even that excited about Jon being alive. It was that obvious.
-
After so many pages and no payoff, no one belived that.
Balon isn't even in the top 10 of dumbest characters in the books.
-
To be completely honest:
! I was more surprised with Stannis being confirmed DEAD than Jon being brought back to life.
-

I agree. Given that this show loves to explicitly portray gore and violence, and they actually cut away instead of showing the deed, I was sure he was still alive.
-
I think the show is going in a more predictable route.
! The books though, not sure poor Jon will really survive there.
-
i wish i shared your surprise about stannis being dead but i unfortunately happened to stumble on one of GRRM's blogs in which he explicitly said in one of them that stannis is dead in the show but alive in the books. that was way before the airing of the 6th season.
plus, it would be weird for brienne to leave him alive after he killed her beloved renly. -
Considering the way that they went with Jon being "dead and never comming back".
Hey, for all we know, could be Ghost warging into Jon's body. No one said that Azor Azhai had to be human.
But currently I'm more influenced by the theory that in the story all prophecy is fabrications and manipulations.
-
All prophecy is true, it just never happens the way the subjects assume. Melisandre knows this very well now.
Among other things, Cersei has been walking straight into her prophecy.
-
When you wake up like you've forgotten something:
!
-
Dolorous Edd's ten minutes as Lord Commander were the greatest the Watch has ever known.
-
It seems GOT is toning down in the ratio of gratuitous violence and boobs.
This week we only had that weird moment with the mountain crushing a random dude and no boobs. I can't say I'm unahappy about that.
I loved the moment the confrontration between the high sparrow and Jaimie. You could really feel the tension between them. I found his belief and how devoted he is to the gods to be quite fascinating. I hope they don't chage him to a simple quest of power or make him lose it.
The kid Lanister seems to trying to grow some balls. All the time he is talking about how he should have protected his mother, all I could think about is his wife still in prison. Such a shame that her tutelage will be from Cersei. At least with Jaimie there would be a chance for him to turn decent.
Castleback was not all that interesting. Davos is now into magic. The return of John Snow made me think of Bella when transforming into a vampire. What's up with the wait for everyone to have left the room and given hope on the ceremony.
Tyrion was fine. I wonder what the Dragon will do now that they are free.
-
it am not realy impressed with the show in these two episodes
-
The War according to Balon.
!
-
Davos complete 180 on magic and Mel for Jon was lame.he was talking for the audience not for himself. Mel is lucky she's the only one that knows the shiren BBQ and is still alive. And relevant.
The thing about the high sparrow migth be uncorrupted, but how long untill another most devout has a price? He's more important than he believes
