Is anybody else kinda curious about how the world is gonna react after they hear that the strawhat pirates are not really dead. Plus if they do kick the G1 marines asses before they go into the new world that will have a even bigger impact.
Chapter 598, "2 Years Later" Discussion

And you think Oda would create a situation where he could showcase the new power level of the strawhats and wouldn't use it?
No, I'm betting on the SH pwning the marine force sent to get them…
I figured he'd have them use their new abilities against an already established enemy instead of these new characters. True if the marine force that shows up maybe had say… an Admiral. that'd be great way to showcase their new powers but it ain't likely. It'll probably be a vice admiral or hopefully a Pacifista.
But more likely it'll be a ton of low level grunts. -

I surely hope that the strawhats aren't on the level to face an Admiral yet, or at least that Luffy would struggle very much to defeat one (like in the fight against Rob Lucci), because I want them to still have room for power growth during their adventures in the NW.
After all, what would be the fun if Luffy were already almost at the Yonkou power level?
-
You don't know Kidd's crew's total bounty, you're only counting him and killer.
How do you know the rest of his crew don't have bounties either.two years ago on SA, after Luffy punch the world noble, the marines confirm that there were 13 bounties in the auction room, which 5 of them were supernovas (Luffy, Zoro, Kid, Law and Killer). That leaves 8 bounties left (Sanji, Nami, Usoop, Chopper, Robin, Franky, unknown, unknown) Brook is not accountable because his skeleton identity will not reflect his old bounty. So that leaves two unknown bounties, could be in Kid's or Law's crew but it is certainly under 100 mil.
But yeah, that was 2 years ago, who knows what bounties all the crews have now.
-
Oda has been teasing Fishman Island since freakin' Water 7.
LET'S FRIGGIN' GET THERE ALREADY!Sorry I love One Piece to death but jeez.
Same as Raftel…

The battles with the admirals won't come up until later, but when they do, how would they meet – as in, a huge final battle near the end of the series, or a series of battles while the crew progresses through the New World? I prefer the latter.
A pacifista would be great, because they were having trouble with just one of them.
It's been two years. I demand to see the crew beat up a Pacifista with more ease. Then, the crew escapes further back up forces to head to FI.

As chopper was in human point the whole time and usopp was as usopp there are ideas they werent accounted for. And only a small part of their crew was at the auction house. But of course the heart and kidd crews are a lot larger crews and are thus based around different elements and thus only few of them have bounties.

I believe that the latter will happen, but they are probably also gonna confront again all the Admirals together in a final battle.

I. Love. This. Chapter.
I've been pretty turned off on the concept of a time-skip because I've seen some bad executions of them. But this…!!! We're getting everything we could hope for in just the first chapter. New designs, slightly more mature and calm personalities whilst keeping the heart of the character intact, all the changes of the world being slowly revealed, the crew's awesome new techniques and power being gradually shown. It's like a brand new series and this is what a timeskip should be!!!
I love the new designs!!! Nami with long hair is so iffy as a thought but Oda pulls it off excellently. The only one I'm not too hot about is Franky's. I loved that pompadour. I gotta see him in action before I pass judgment. I love how Luffy still looks the same except with a nice scar. I just didn't want him to have facial hair but this is even better. Luffy never needed to change physically, his design is great enough as it is. Just a touch of maturity and experience from the scar is good enough without being distracting:)
The chapter itself was so good. The Fake Straw Hats is a nifty idea that's probably gonna end in hilarity. Not to mention the Marines and maybe even Tenryubito being involved and we'll have a spectacular beginning for the second half.
God, the anticipation for these changes is gonna make chapters ten times more exciting from now on!!!
@RobbyBevard:
I also like him flat out rejecting marrying Hancock. At least he's AWARE she wants to now.
Ha, gotta love how Oda took care of that relationship so quickly post-timeskip when a certain other relationship in a certain other manga has been left hanging for how many chapters now?
Pretty good on Oda's part. Two years should have been more than enough for Luffy to pick up on Hancock's feelings.

Personally, i wouldn't be surprised if Franky, by himself, were enough to take down a pacifista, if it's level is the same as when they fought @ Marineford, which i'm betting it's not.
-
Well, I did read all 65pages and know I feel like I've deserved to post some thoughts, as well.
Actually I love how Oda restarted the story with the fake strawhats.
- There have been plenty of speculations on the new looks and showing the worst possible alternative (fakes) while introducing the new strawhats will make it easier to accept them. Just for the record, I like the changes so far.
- It shows how the world would react to them. Even after two years they are still notoriously famous.
- Love the recruiting joke. After all, new nakamas are always hot topics.
- The interactions are funny. Somebody wished for Usopp to meet Sogeking. Here you go..
Also, I think they are good fodder characters. What I mean is that I don't really want OP to start right away with a big arc. I'd rather like some short stories. If you participate in the reread you'll have noticed how short and fast paced the first stories were. This time is different as the big names and plenty open questions are lined up along the new world, but I still want the first opponents to be fast and easy. Yes, including the two brothers around 200 mio bounty which is why I think Sanji and Zoro should take care of them.
And now a quick summary of the rest of the thread
Zoro one arm/ two arms… one eye/both eyes (?)…three swords/four swords…new sword/old swords…Perona/vivre card/mihawk training/doo
Luffy.. scar akainu/sth else.. (X shape still kinda mysterious), contents of bag still open
Nami.. long hair/short hair, more boobs, I-shape, some like some dont, I like both, still open where the bubbles came from
Franky.. tank, still open how he does his work as mechanic with those hands and fits into ship, suggestions range from battle suit to he's gonna change the ship, 37/B7 (newest battle franky generation), hopefully still running on coke
Usopp…buffed up, mini sling shot, pop greens seem to be trained on who to attack, either he has enough with him or gonna grow on TS, still in weak(er) trio
Brook..awesome, soul king brook no trouble with Marines as not recognized as member of strawhats, will be funny when realized by public
Robin..hot(ter), hunted by CP agents/Revolutionaries/sth else (even though they look like agents, the other makes more sense for me)
chopper..funny and naive as usual, no idea what the beanie is for, glad he still has the old hat underneath
Sanji.. lulz, finger, girl radar, etc, eyes remain mystery as 1+1 doesnt always equal two… (-; -

Well the whole power lvl thing is a bit out of whack anway.
VAs seem a way to powerless compared to admirals.
The Shibukai`'s seem a bit unbalanced as well as a group.
On the other hand if you look how much everyone improved in under 1 year(should been screen time from start to War arc) and you have now a 2 year time skip….
I have no idea how many Arcs well see in the NW, but there will be for sure one based fighting a yonkou(Kaidoo prolly), one big fight against marines(Admiral), Blackbeard + prolly one random group at the start thats on a high lvl. + something against or with the introduced supernovas.
So hes prolly closer to admiral than VA lvl atm.

theres prolly goin to be:
Elbaf arc
Wano Country
at least one of the islands the other SN went to
their are prolly other foreshadowed islands -
dunno if its been said, but i think the reason the fakes where brought back was to show the straw hats new powers a little more and compare them to the marines sooner rather then make us wait a while
-
Well, I did read all 65pages
Wow, i'm impressed you got through all that ^^
@Chopper:
at least one of the islands the other SN went to
Speaking of, was'nt it mentioned that this new world only has one route through it rather than several?
So technically speaking we can expect the SH's to land on all those islands shown. Or can we? -
Speaking of, was'nt it mentioned that this new world only has one route through it rather than several?
from the maps weve seen and the fact that each SN went to a diff island id say thats false
-
@Chopper:
from the maps weve seen and the fact that each SN went to a diff island id say thats false
You're right, there are 4 paths at first =/
However they do all combine into the one path after a while, but I would say but that is after the islands that we were shown. -

alright now its my turn for my theories and thoughts.
Luffy: alright i think its pretty obvious that scar is from Akainu just because it would be a memento from trying to save his brother and it gives him more reason to eventually fight Akainu. I love the long sleeves and the parka thing is hilarious.
Usopp: I really hope he keeps Kabuto only because i absolutely love kabuto. I love the pop green idea and im glad they kept his personality.
Robin: Haven't seen enough yet but i love the hair.
Chopper: I like his hat cover and i hope he has some new tricks up his sleeves.
Franky: I miss the pompador and frankly he looks too old for my liking….but i do like the square rockem sockem robot arms. I will forgive everything if he has pacifista lasers or seastone armor. I think that he ran to the sunny to upgrade it quickly.
Nami: LOVE the new attack but WHYYY MORE LIGHTENING?!?!?!? We have had nothing BUT lightening and we need different weather attacks. (btw love the new hair)
Sanji: SO glad they kept the personality and confirmed mellorine radar :p I love how his eyebrows both swirl to the left. :D
Zoro: I'm really excited to see what happened to his eye and i really doubt he's missing an arm for two reasons.
1. Why would they take the same arm from two main characters?
2. Three sword style requires two arms :DBrook: WOW im impressed and i hope he kept his sword. Either it should come from a different cane or from his guitar. I do hope though that the "rockstar" thing is an act and he retains his "gentleman" personality.
Other: I think the straw hats should be strong enough to handle a pacifista on their own and a vice admiral as a group.
Questions: Why was kuma at the sunny?
who are the new warlords?
who is the new fleet admiral?Overall i LOVED this chapter.
-

This chapter spoiler thread still hurts my soul.

I read all 66 pages too. Was observing the thread since it began. Not necessarily read all pages at a time.
-
no, way I'm doing that…
Oh, I'm not asking you to do that; someone already did.
This chapter spoiler thread still hurts my soul.
The chapter thread or the spoiler thread?
On another note, I find it odd that the Revolutionaries or CP Agents would mistaken Fake (Midget) Robin for the real one. You'd expect them to recognize the fakes.
-

Yeah, I totally agree. Plus it makes sense for them to defeat bunch of pacifista's since they initially struggled against them at first and it was "one" of the reasons they were separated at all. (I know kuma transported them, but still). Also it will be a good way to show how zoro has overcome his fear of the pain which was caused by kuma when seeing a pacifista.

i just noticed on the weekly jump bottom it says March 2011 One piece 3-D :)

All great points – and your summary of the thread was brilliant, too.
And yeah, anyone who read every single post in the spoiler thread probably deserves a purple heart, if not a long vacation. (Though your summary for the chapter thread is more or less a summary of the spoiler thread too -- all that needs to be added is:chapter out yet? -- no / [insert swear words here] / yes!

Then, the thread ends and the discussion moves to the new chapter thread, where many posts are nearly identical… with the exception of new members and/or old lurkers.
What great reads...

are there still people saying that zoro lost an arm???? are they blind???

Hey I was wondering the black line between Luffy and Robin in the colour spread, is that Sanji's leg?
-
Hey I was wondering the black line between Luffy and Robin in the colour spread, is that Sanji's leg?
Yes, it is.
-
-
Very much enjoyed the chapter after the long wait but I was a little disappointed with the color page of the crew. The way Oda drew Luffy's head on that page made it scream out Ernie from Sesame Street…
You can't tell me he doesn't look like that without lying through your teeth.
-
My sincere hope is that Oda purposely drew Luffy kind of crappy and out of proportion on the cover page (same with Nami) to match the chapter 1 cover page…Luffy's face was weird and his body was out of proportion on the first chapter cover...so I'm hoping he was trying to recreate that feeling of "This...doesn't quite look right". I'm hoping that's why Nami's waist juts in at an abnormal angle and looks like it could snap at any moment.
-
Forgive how crappy this looks, but I think this area colored in should have been part of Nami's body…Oda drew her with a huge chunk of her side missing.

I can't stop facepalming.

What's next, criticizing how Jessica Rabbit and Betty Boop are unrealistic?
-
Other: I think the straw hats should be strong enough to handle a pacifista on their own and a vice admiral as a group.
Are you serious? You think it would take the entire strawhat pirates to match a vice admiral? I would wager Luffy could defeat any vice admiral by himself. Any.

that made her look a million times better.
-
I doubt pre timeskip luffy could defeat a VA by himself, look back at marineford, the VA's were basically kicking him around.
But if we consider Luffy now, I would say he can hold his own against a VA. And the crew should obviously be able to take care of pre timeskip pacifistas (We don't know if the current pacifistas are further modified or not).
And I'm really thinking that Luffy got his scar from being kicked at the speed of light by Kizaru, OR after Law operated on him, the scar remained, and that's being generous.

i have a question, in the panel where robin is walking:
http://mangastream.com/read/one_piece/35970330/21is that where luffy and his crew were sent away?
-
I was not trying to say it should look like the 20 second edit I made in paint. I was trying tos ay that huge chunk missing should have been part of her body, even by Oda's standards of drawing.
Inhumanly tiny waists don't add anything. They just make the characters look weird.

Wow, good eye. I had to double check, but it appears that you're correct. I doubt there are two areas that look the same on Grove 12.

First, I agree that I wish the women had a bit more girth to their waistlines. However, I disagree that this is somehow in opposition to Oda's standards. It's one of the few aspects of his drawing that I don't like, but it is his standard.

its the way he draws
