Venture Brothers

That was a really good episode. Lots of funny jokes, character development, bits of people's pasts, and plot progression. No seargant hatred.
Best episode of the season since the premiere..
-
Agreed. One of the best episodes of the season thus far. Loved the Dr. Orpheus and Triana development, especially since they've been so absent this season (seriously guys, what the hell?) Oh, and may I say that Dr. O's ex-wife is HAWT?!
-
So glad to hear McGurk back as The Master. And Dermott's always a plus.
-
I must be an idiot, but it struck me just now that Rusty's attitude in this episode is a direct extension from the last one.
And every Order of the Triad moment is priceless. Al in particular stole the episode. Every moment he spoke was genius.
-
Best episode of the season so far to be sure, but it almost would have made more sense as a flashback to last season or just very early in this season. That'd make more sense seeing as how we hadn't seen Triana in forever and would also explain why Dean's mental state in most of the other episodes.
-
Fantastic episode, though the Order of the Triad is always an instant key to success, so having a entire episode revolving around them is pretty much a guaranteed ticket for an awesome episode.
-
HOLY SHIT
This episode was a combination of so many things we've wanted to see since the end of last season, if not the entire series.
Brock Lobster in action
21 and 24 banter once more
Dr. Mrs. The Monarch against the Moppets
Brock vs. 21
21 as a jedi
SPEEDY! -
Yeah, that was friggin' awesome. The return of Brock and his fight with 21 was the best part IMO. Also, it was cool seeing 24 again, whether he's really haunting 21 or just a figment of his own insanity, I don't care. Gah, but no more new episode until next spring or summer! Please guys, don't make us wait too long!
-
With 24's return, it was clearly evident of one of the things missing in the heart of the show. 21 and 24's conversations were laugh riot in this episode. Goes to show you just how much of a great duo the two are.
And SPEEDY!!!
-
That was far and away the best episode of the season.
Probably my favorite moment was Rusty's reaction to knowing that Hank and Dean could have their memories erased.
-
anyone have a link to that ep? D:
EDIT: nvm I found it.
-
Yeah, these last two episodes made it clear that its been the absense of half the cast that made this season a bit weak. Missing Brock, 24, Dr. O and having… seargent hatrred.... in their place, its small wonder the season was a bit off.
The crazy part is, Brock was ONLY gone for 6 episodes, Dr.O ONLY for 5. And 24 for 7 but then not EVERY episode in the past was about the Monarach or had his crew, and Dr.O was always just a part timer... They weren't gone all that long yet it definatley threw off the timing and feel of the show.
-
Last two have definitely been the best so far. I guess this means Brock is more or less permanently back, right? Sweet.
-
Season 4.5 isn't going to air till August 22. D:
-
-
We were in for a six month wait from the beginning, though I guess news doesn't travel as fast when you're not as obsessed, haha.
-
ive seen only up to the episode that was Centered around #21
(episode 3 or 4?) -
All in all, I guess we're still lucky we got the first half when we did. But something tells me I'd rather they have just waited until early summer to show us the entire season each week like past ones.
-
August 22nd is when it returns, or so I've heard.
-
This was on a recent bump where they flashed these really really fast:
!
!
-
Yeah, we know. Both of you need to read before you post.

Reading? Who does that anymore? People like big flashy images!
-
I'm not too surprised, at Dragon Con in September they had just started writing the first or second episode of the next half.
-
It finally happened…
ACTION FIGURES!
Bobbleheads (equally awesome) due out this spring. The first wave (yes, there's going to be more) of figures is due out in Summer. Here's the lineup for the first figure series:
Dr. Venture
Dean
Hank
Brock
The MonarchConsider Brock and Monarch bought… that is, if they're reasonably priced (these will most likely just be adultswim.com) and look good. And come on, they better be posable. Action figures which just bend at the shoulders and neck are so lame. I want a 24 figure.
-
So I recently started watching Season 4, and what's up with the comic book references in Ep. 1?
For that matter, why were the events shown out of order? -
Artiness.
The various characters are the stars of Marvel Comics No. 1 (as I mentioned earlier in this thread, it's probably not common knowledge that Namor was created in the 1930s). Since it's worth 100K, 21 attempts to use it to pay for a 24 clone while the various numbers scattered throughout the episode are the decreasing condition and value of the comic as it suffers abuse at the hands of the Idiot Brigade.
-
The clone thing I didn't know about, but why did the names pop up at certain points in the ep.? Is it a reference to how some comics used to be Anthology?
…and Ep. 2 confuses me on what the true reason Captain Sunshine wants a new Wonder Boy for...@_@

I think they signaled a time shift though that may have just been the Grading system and money value. The Brock storyline ran in correct order while the Venture Compound story ran backwards up until they met each other and began moving in the same direction.

So the writers could make pedophile jokes, which is also pretty much the only reason Sgt. Hatred exists after the first two episodes of this season.

My mind is blown, thanks for clearing that up!
Also I wonder if the backwards thing is a reference to Youngblood? So the writers could make pedophile jokes, which is also pretty much the only reason Sgt. Hatred exists after the first two episodes of this season.
Huh…I kinda didn't like that....but hey Monarch up to his evil crazy plans! The guy needs his own show =/
I can't remember Hatred's pedophilia much in the series though XDWhen's the DVD/Bluray release of Season 4 BTW?
-

The joke on Wonder Boy was actually a fakeout, he wasn't supposed to be a pedophile. He was supposed to do a whole bunch of things that made him look like one, but then they turned out to have logical explanations. Like when he gave Hank the lube. You're supposed to think "Ooh, Ok here we go, pedophile joke coming up" and then when he slides down the tube, you find out it was just to get the suit on easier.
He was just REALLY paranoid about Wonder Boy after Monarch killed the first one, that's why he was so touchy-feely and over protective of him. It was a really clever way to incorporate Kevin Conroy as a guest star. (he was the official voice of Batman in the DCAU and several other projects, including Arkham Asylum)
If this wasn't clear in the episode itself, Jackson Public confirmed it on his livejournal.

It doesn't matter if Captain Sunshine wasn't making pedophile jokes. All the other characters, and the WRITERS were.
Combined with the ongoing Seargent Hatred young boy fetish…. Which was funny the once or twice when he was just onscreen for 10 seconds with an uncomfortable Hank in earlier seasons, but got old REAL fast when he became a recurring regular character.
Its a bit much in the pedophilia department for one season.
But Brock is back now, so hopefully the second half of the season will be back up to par.

Yeah when I figured that out I was rather relieved XD.

I was wondering if Conroy was Sunshine's VA XD.
Thanks for clearing it up mate =3
Oh yeah in Ep. 1; is the orginization that Brock joins at the end based off Cobra from G. I. Joe? Cuz for some odd reason…Kobra from the DC comics popped in my head as well @_@
-
Christ…caught that episode last night. LOVED Conroy as Sunshine. Nice to see his talents used to something besides Batman, even though he's perfect as Batman.
-
Finished watching the first 8 eps. Hatred's pedophilia is getting annoying ^_^;
…but man! SPHINX HQ is on the Venture Compound? fucking hilarious XD
-
New episodes of the Venture Brothers coming in September.
http://www.toplessrobot.com/2010/08/venture_bros_season_5season_4_part_2whatever_trail.php
More Sgt. Hatred. Joy.
-
That's great now I really have to watch Season 3 now.
-
Two Words.
Hell Yeah!!
:w00t:
-
Im ready for this.
Ive seen all of S4 Prt.1 so this Pt.2 will make sense :D -
Gotta text Dad immediately.
-
I'm cool with more Sgt Hatred as long as they stop clobbering the dead horse that is his pederastic tendencies. I got it the first time, dudes.
-
Same here; if it's the Hatred from the first episode of the season, then he's not so bad, but the constant pedophile/ephebophile references get old very quickly.
-
I haven't been able to watch Season 4…waiting for the darn dvd to come out! I heard October 23rd.
-
hopefully i'll be watching
-
Brock is back with the crew, and 21 and 24 are a duo again (albeit with one of them as a ghost), and those aspects alone should go a long way towards fixing the feel of things.
-
I am semi-extra-ultra excited! Too bad it was moved off to september instead of premiering this month as they planned it before, but I can wait another month for a higher quality product! It's all I'll have besides Futurama, when the Boondocks season ends, to hold me off until Archer's second season.
-
Dammit, they cut Hank's hair again. >_<
He was actually looking like an actual person for a while there. :<
-
The Spider-Man bit from the trailer slayed me.
As did Dr. Girlfriend gargling….
-
It's not that I don't like it…but they really overused the joke. They've had what, three episodes dedicated to jokes about him being a pedo? Doc and Jackson are better writers than that. Especially when they have such a ridiculous number of characters to write about.
