Chapter 594: "Message" Discussion

Finally got a chance to sit down and read the chapter.

I thought it was excellent and Oda is really at the top of his game. A lot of times writers have a hard to keeping the reader's attention after an action filled event like the Marineford Arc, but Oda keeps throwing out nuggets that force you to keep reading.

As others have said, Kong serves as a conduit between the Five Elder Stars and the upper brass of the Marines. It is very common for very large organizations to have a position such as the one "Kong" has. I think Oda showed you that Kong has real authority as he basically tells Sengoku that he cannot retire and forces him to stay in the Marines. Now he was very smooth and passive aggressive when he did it but that was basically what happened.

Boy, the inevitable fight between Koby and Luffy just got a lot more interesting. I believe at the end of the series, Koby will be an Admiral level fighter. I could even see a situation where Luffy and Koby are much like Garp and Ace and Luffy eventually entrusts his child to Koby, but that's just a theory.

Anybody else glad Blackbeard got rid of Capone Bege? Out of the Supernovas, I thought he was the least interesting.

Also, when the Five Elder Stars were asking themselves, who could stop the rise of Blackbeard, why did one of them say, "The Four Emperors", when there is only 3 now?

Methinks he was pointing out the number (one vs two) rather than the semantics of dull and stupid.

ala: "Alas! Poor Ace, I knew him well..."

Which would have given the comment "Forsooth!" a context in which it would have made sense. It just sounded dumb and out of place.

It's entirely possible that the explosion altered his mind a bit.

? The one Blackbeard got rid of was either Law, Drake, Bonney (most probable cause of her speech), or Apoo. Capone is seen being sucked up by an island from new world… That has nothing to do with Blackbeard.

It is a theory that the thing that sucked Capone was BB's ship. Although I think it unlikely, I would love the supernova BB took down to be Capone.

Being hit by a train turned him into the Franky we love. A similar accident could have affected him just as well.

Quite true, but given the reactions of the SHs to the news item (which are an immediate validation of Ray's words), one would be inclined to think that the atheist swordsman is the only dull guy in the SH crew, leaving Luffy himself.

No don't mind me, I was trying to make a joke based on Shakespeare and the Rennaisance–it failed miserably.

But, getting back to the issue at hand--the train changed him physically--not mentally--the circumstances of losing Tom did that. If you are serious, I can't see how an explosion would make him start to spout Shakespearian English. Am I misunderstanding you somehow?

I don't there is too much doubt that Blackbeard used his Yami Yami no Mi to swallow up Capone's ship.

However, it could be some weird sky island that sucks Bege up.

i dont think Oda would know change Frankys chara design completely..he may get a few new cool weapons added to his body (like those who vegapunk invented in his young years) which could chance a bit his body…but overall we will have franky`s face and SUUPER hair as normal, when he returns back to the crew^^

Everytime Oda shows things that happened before current timeline he draws the scenes on a black background. What happened to Capone's ship happened AFTER the 5 elder stars discussed the fact the Blackbeard take care of a supernova… I would bet my money on Bonney.

Oda needs to show the conflict between Bonney and the one who caused "all" that happened and that was heading to the New World. In my opinion that's Blackbeard.

(But… You can never be sure with Oda).

Its a captain's order. Robin usually says 'Roger' when Luffy gives an order.

True, true, also unless something extra is revealed about these "Ancient Zoan" I'm left sort of unmoved. I mean yeah when I first saw Drake in the manga and again in the anime I, like the rest of the community was like "Holy shit that dude turned into fucking a Dinosuar!" after a while the appeal of that starts to fade, like the fizzle in a Coke after you've left out for a couple of hours. Though Bonney is an interesting character with interesting powers and habits and I hope to see more of her in the future.

The one thing that has been bothering me is seeing how quickly the Supernovas have gotten passed the Fishman Island. We know Shanks, Blackbeard and the remnants of the Whitebeard Pirates have passed through Fishman Island, but they are some of the strongest pirates.

It has been suggested that one can expect a very chaotic Fishman Island now that Whitebeard has been killed and yet the Supernovas have already gotten passed Fishman Island?

It just seems strange, given the hype of Fishman Island and there is no doubt Luffy will encounter very powerful enemies there.

Also, I still don't get this obsession Smoker has to capture Luffy. He is already trying to get transfered to the New World probably to get closer to Luffy.

I don't feel like the SN's necessarily need to stay on FI for that long. We can assume the logpose needs some time there to set for the next island, but that could be a very short time. They wouldn't necessarily have to really wander around FI too much. We're all sure the SHs'll stay there for a while with Camie and the princess and all of this stuff, but the SN's didn't really have that.

Speaking of the log pose, the SN's mostly all chose different paths at the start of the Grand Line, but afterwards that brought all of them to SA, and then through FI. Do they again choose from multiple paths once they make it past the Red Line, or in the NW would there be like a set path.

Smoker's been focused on Luffy ever since he saw him smile on the execution platform at Loguetown. Heck, he even dropped chasing Ace, the much bigger threat by anyone's standards, to go after Luffy in Alabasta. It's pretty clear that he sees Luffy as the next pirate king (because he reminds him of Gold Roger and because of his luck.)

It's going to be interesting to see which Supernova Blackbeard wasted. I do like the prediction it's Bonney because of her statement back in the war concerning the one who started it.

Well yeah, there's more than one route. He's just saying the number shown isn't necessarily the actual number of routes.

Man, I hope Drake's not the target. Maybe he needs more action as a dinosaur? The sad thing is, when that first happened we were all like all "Holy Shit Dinosaur!!" but then he got his ass kicked by Kizaru immediately afterwards (although that was a necessary plot point, it saddens me).

but let's not forget the other Supernova! For all we know, it could very well be Zoro. If there's a less ambiguous translation that proves the SN has already been taken out, as opposed to merely being targeted, point it out to me. until then I won't rule out that possibility.

Yeah that 5 routes talk would make you think there are less islands in the NW than in Paradise.

That would play in to the territories of yonkou though.

I would suspect there are four routes. One for each Yonkou. Meaning that only one route is "safe" right now. Actually take that back thats the route Teach is probably on. Sengoku did say "He knows WB territory better then anybody"

The guy Sengoku was talking to, could he be who Doflamingo was talking about when he was talking to Moria? I forget his rank right now, but that was one thing I was thinking about when I first read the chapter. Also, it kind of surprised me when all of the top military personnel were leaving their positions, especially Sengoku.

I don't know if it was Kong, but I want to believe it was the Gourosei. Who knows? There could be someone even higher than the Gourosei! How crazy would that shit be?

THis might seem a bit harsh but why do the Supernova crews (excluding Luffy, Kid, kind of Hawkins and Law ) look like fodder? I mean sure they're themed to an extent but man they look so weak.

The only one who I think is weak is Drake. He has a cool design and all, but all he does is turn into a dinosaur.
We've seen the Straw Hats beat the shit out of dinosaurs before.
