I think if there's anything, there's that possibility that it will be revealed that fishmen/merfolk are humans, and not a different species. I mean, if they can breed naturally and without artificial insemination, and produce fertile offspring, they're the same species. That's Biology 101.
Using your last argument, they ARE the same species. Fishmen and merfolk breed all the time and doesn't produce hybrid offspring, which should mean they're the same species. Cocoro, who's a mermaid, had a child with a human, and that child got Chimney, meaning that he/she certainly was fertile. So yeah, merfolk apparently are both humans and fishman, which should mean they're the same species.
But on the other hand, it may be a case of cartoon logic. The Saiyans from Dragon Ball could produce fertile off-spring with humans. And it didn't seem Toriyama meant them to be humans, just human-like, and it's quite unrealistic that the same species would arise two different places in the universe.
For the Jinbe on the coin thing….
Franky did NOT join Luffy's crew yet but he was placed with them in JUS and was made a playable character along with the other strawhats except for Usopp and Chopper.
people saying this means NOTHING are 50 percent wrong because it happend with franky and brooke with games and toys before they officially joined.

The coloring on the coins is a little ambiguous: it could go red-white-gold for level of prominence in the story, though characters like Ivankov and Mihawk could be seen as more or less equally notable in their roles.
Whether it truly means something for Jimbei will never be certain until it's certain. (BTW, it's hard to see it completely clearly, but it definitely looks like his name spelled on the coin uses M rather than N and possibly without the ending I, making it Jimbe. I do hope he gets his own Wanted poster soon to end the discrepancy.)

The rest seems pretty reasonable, though I don't know if Sanji's goal is to be the supreme chef of the world. He wants to be the best for his crew, yes, and maybe it will lead him to being one of the best if not the best compared to others. But finding the All Blue and gaining the health-beneficial cooking skills seem to align more to his wanting to making the crew stronger, rather than simply being the best or only one in his class. I'm rambling a bit, but yes, good show all around.

I'd like to think that whoever was in charge of the coin production was a fan (and an avid one at that), and he was also very sure of Jimbe's chance of joining. So much that he just thought "aah, what the hell" and put Jimbe on the coin.
And I know lots of you are complaining about these next nakama discussion, but I personally find it quite fun, Jimbe is currently the strongest candidate and I have a feeling that the end of the current flashback will be a make or break situation. So I'm just enjoying the ride for while it last. Cause before u know it it'll be over, and imagine if Luffy says "Well thats it!! This is all the crew I need", we wont be having these discussions anymore. So just enjoy it while it lasts

The chance that Jinbei will join is greater as we go deeper and deeper into this arc. BUT there is two major problems. One: He is too strong(strongest living fishman there is(for now)), And he is the part of old era.

Plus, the new crewmate are progressively taller. Robin 6.2 < Franky 7.5 < Brook 8.8/5 < Jinbei would fit perfectly here since he's about 9.8. :ninja:

As far as I remember it was stated no where. But I have to admit he's the strongest fishman we have seen so far.
Haha, I was about to say… Brook's era definitely came and went. That's why he's such a good rockstar, music stars always seem to get more attention in their later years for being "refined" or "still having it".
I'm currently of the opinion that the crew is complete, though I love seeing all the debate and speculation about the possibility of there being more crew members joining from here on. Oda could really do anything, just to mess with us, but whether he does or doesn't - it'll be epic either way. If someone were to join, I would hope for another woman, just because. I love all the guys, and that there are two strong/scary females keeping them in line, but one more wouldn't hurt, especially if she's on a different wavelength than Nami and Robin - not someone who can just glare/scream/hit the boys to get their way (or who maybe just doesn't care about a way?)

The coins are interesting and all, but it seems like there's better arguments than some plastic chips. Like, say, the crew's current inability to protect the underside of the ship.

A few problems here…
- Usopp just wants to be a brave man of the sea, I don't think he wants to be the greatest sniper. could be wrong but it was too long ago to remember if he said he wanted to be the best sniper.
- Sanji just wants to find all blue.
- Brook just wants to be reunited with Laboon. I don't think it has ever been stated that he cares about being the best rock star/musician...

Lol, clever and stupid are almost mutually exclusive save in very rare cases which usually happen for plot reasons rather than the character being actually clever (like Luffy figuring out how Geppou worked).

The coins really are pretty bad to be used as a definitive basis, but I do feel that they don't really hurt any arguments for Jinbe. Evidence for him is just constantly piling up, and it's pretty hard to ignore that. I may not have voted for him in the poll, but pre-time skip he really didn't seem like too eligible a candidate.

This feeling stems from the fact that the thing he cares about the most is protecting Fishman island. The only exceptions so far seem to be joining Fisher Tiger and protecting Luffy during the war.

A major thing against Jinbe as been that he wants to protect Fishman Island, but what if the island is destroyed? We know he just wants there to be peace for Fishmen, and I'm gonna go with others and say that the fishmen and mermen will most likely go to Water 7, considering it has a large part of the city under water, and Iceburg was a friend of Tom.
Right now we're in a flashback. Jinbe was shown respecting Otohime's ideas of humans coexisting with them, but Jinbe didn't think that was the way to go. Then he has a worse-then-Arlong attitude about humans after Fisher Tiger dies. Now we know from Impel Down and the war, he still greatly dislikes humans, the exception being Whitebeard and his crew, and Luffy. I believe the next part of his character development will be taking up Otohime's ideals. He'll join the crew with the dream of unifying humans and Fishmen.
He'll do this by helping make Luffy the pirate king, showing the world Fishmen or human, this is the Pirate Kings crew. This will inspire Fishmen, seeing "Boss Jinbe" joining with a human and going to the top.
I have one problem with the Water Seven theory;
before the crew left W7, Iceburg was working on turning the island into a gigantic ship.
I would think that he would have done that by now.
