I mean there were two times I remember that he let his accent slip. Dug his performance, though.
Spider-Man getting a reboot.

@Mr.333:
Is it just me or does anyone else notice THE BULGE?
oh god…....
The bulge isn't that bad. Believe, I've seen spandex bulge…..erm....
But yeah. It's much more of a 'cup' bulge than a penis bulge. Be thankful for that.
If I saw a full on slither going on there, I'd comment my issues, regardless of my interest. It IS a superhero movie, after all.
The casting director thought Hugh Laurie was native American when he saw him first.
I can see that, sort of.
If he was an actor who couldn't do an American accent, he wouldn't be within miles of this film. I mean that's really acting lesson number one; get your accents.
Very true. I have faith that he'll pull it off. He was very good in "The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus". I have full faith that he could hide his accent. I just hope it doesn't come at the cost of a decent voice.
Yes but Gwen Stacey is fodder. She's the beginning of his story, but everyone knows Mary Jane is the one for him. They're gonna kill her off to make us feel more empathetic for Spiderman himself. Make him more adult. Since Spiderman is sort of a coming of age story.
If it IS true that Emma Stone is playing Gwen, then that pisses me off.
Emma looks DEAD ON like a Mary Jane type. And she's playing Gwen. Gwen is the blonde, dorky girl. Yeah, she was pretty, but she wasn't a knockout like Mary or Emma Stone.
Gwen is much more of a…Tayler Swift or blonde Amanda Bynes, maybe.
This just makes me fear who will be playing Mary. Cause after the abysmal piece of shit that was Kristen Dunst's performance...
really? i don't see it. besides, what you described is in perfect character for his character.
True. But it's always bugged me. It made it obvious that he was hiding an accent.
I don't know. I like Hugh Laurie better when he's himself than when he's House.
-
Really like the costume!
Also this thread reminds me of a video I saw the other day:
oUT_h950obU
-
Hilarious video.
Emma Stone: Gwen is supposed to be really hot, so that works. It was funny that in 3 Howard was 5 times better than she ever looked, 40 times better looking than Dunst, and she still failed to matter.
Stone seems like she's doing this to get away from redheaded love interest typecasting, but if you think about it she's gonna play a high schooler 5 years after Superbad.
-
I don't see why people keep bringing the ginger thing up; though I thought it at first too.
But I do think she would've made a perfect Mary Jane with her natural colour.
-
My issue isn't that she's a ginger.
My issue is that we're picking the perfect Mary Jane to be Gwen Stacy. Emma will make a great Gwen, but in the end, Gwen will die and we'll have lost our perfect Mary Jane option.
Unless they do something crazy, and make her play both.
-
Well Emma Stone is not a natural redhead, she dyed her hair for Superbad and liked it so much that she decided to keep it. Her natural hair colour is blond.
-
I'd like Jayma Mays or Amy Adams but they're in their thirties so that's pushing it I suppose. Even though Garfield is 27.
!
Though yeah I think Emma Stone would've been best.
-
it's ok insider. your entitled to your opinion :)
as for the "bulge"; ya know, women walk around with 2 "bulges" on their chest and no one seems to care. in fact they're encouraged to have "bulge" If you think about it, it's just a silly double standard. It would be more weird if there were no bulge, as in, something is very wrong here.
-
I hope do reinterpret the Green Goblin in one of these films and he has a better costume.
Like this.
This is a sick design. Much better then that garbage in the first Riami film.
-
Stone is natural blond and a great actress, I'd rather have her as Gwen, Pete's true love than put a B-list actress as Gwen so in a few years she can play the girl Pete marries and divorces.
-
AMY ADAMS! <3 <3 <3 <3 <3
!
If she could give a more seductive performance, than shit yeah, she could be Mary.
And I really hope (though it's highly unlikely) that they keep one actor from the previous Spiderman movies.
!
^Seriously….he was perfect....! -GpYKBGFoJ0
-
Jonah Jameson, was really one of the few good points of the Riami films.
-
The first two Spidey films were good/great. Get over it.
-
I liked the first one. The second didn't click for me for some reason. Perhaps I'll re watch that to see if my opinion of that film has improved.
-
I didn't hate either of the first two Spider-Man movies.
I loathe Toby Maguire and Kristen Dunst. But I liked the first two movies.
Also, I thought William Defoe was a great Osborn.
-
I liked the first one. And the Second one cus of Peter's cool negativity when the Symbiote takes him over plot and cus of him giving up Spiderman. Scenes like the asian woman singing the Spiderman theme and making him think were beautiful. I didn't like the whole 'MJ's getting married' drama though.
Not to keen on the third. Making Sandman Uncle Ben's killer I did not like so much.
I thought Tobey Maguire was brilliant, and Stan Lee said he was his 'perfect Spiderman' - but that said, Garfield looks an amazing fit in the Spiderman role from the picture.
-
That change was pretty weird, it was like the Tim Burton Batman with Jack Napier turning out to be Bruce Wayne's parents killer instead of a generic mugger. I guess they wanted to tie things and end it there.
-
-
Stan Lee said he was his 'perfect Spiderman' -
Stan Lee is always so delightfully upbeat about everything. Everything is great, he loves this actor, and this other actor is even better. Not to mention how the director is A-list with talent coming out the waazo. Gotta love him.
Would be nice if he had a little more input into the movies, not directing or anything but kinda like what Miyato did for windwaker.
Give some pointers on things, comment on ideas, like for instance would your spiderman ever had a dance number:ninja:
-
Akira Toriyama liked Justin Chatwin's portrayal of Goku. Does that make it good?
-
I was never arguing it did.
-
And I really hope (though it's highly unlikely) that they keep one actor from the previous Spiderman movies.

^Seriously….he was perfect....Oh, definately agreed. This guy is to the Raimi Spiderman movies what Gary Oldman is to the Nolan Batman movies, just the perfect fit for this supporting character.

Waaiiiit, am I completely missing something or wasn
t that part in the third movie? Damn, I have to watch those again, it
s been so long. -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Glover
There was a campaign on Twitter, "#donald4spiderman", for Glover to be allowed to audition for the role of Peter Parker in the upcoming Spider-Man film. The campaign, originally started to see how far social networking could carry a message, quickly got a large following.[8][9] The call for Glover to be allowed to audition for the role was supported by Spider-Man creator Stan Lee[10] and Ultimate Spider-Man writer Brian Michael Bendis.[11] Although the campaign was considered a success, Glover was not awarded an audition, and the role of Peter Parker instead went to Andrew Garfield.

Donald Glover isn't funny, I don't get what the hype is about him, he was horrible on Conan, none of his jokes even got a chuckle.

I just found out that Neil Patrick Harris was the voice of the Spiderman of the 90s cartoon series.
I knew that man was awesome SOMEHOW, but my god…
-
2003 you mean? 90s was Christopher Daniel Barnes. But hey, I didn't know that about NPH voicing him in the other one. That's pretty cool. He's such a good actor.

Oh okay.
NPH is still awesome though.
-
Shattered Dimensions was awesome because not only those two, but also Josh Keaton (Spectacular) and Dan Gilvenez (Amazing Friends) got brought back to voice the four various Spideys in it. That game's got an all-star Spider-Man veteran cast.
-
90s was Christopher Daniel Barnes.
Nice to match a name to a voice. I'd always felt I'd heard that guy's voice before I heard him in Spiderman, but it wasn't until I few years ago that I realized I first heard him say "Aaaariiieeelll!!"
-

Hated his voice. Didn't fit 2099 at all and hated the personality change done to him in the game.

Go watch the Derrick Comedy channel on Youtube. That guy is hilarious.
-
A black Spiderman would be funny.
Stupid question: Is Josh Keaton related to Micheal Keaton who played Batman? If so that would mean they both played iconic characters.
-
It'll never happen, but it wouldn't be any funnier than a white one.
Michael Keaton and Josh Keaton, funny enough , don't actually have Keaton as their true last names.
-
I figure I bump this thread since the person who bumped the previous thread and made a mistake. I want that thread to be merged with this one.
So Garfield's performance….
Looks like Garfield will be a promising Peter Parker according to Emma Stone
http://www.femalefirst.co.uk/movies/movie-news/Emma+Stone+Praises+Andrew+Garfield-89699.html
Emma Stone has revealed that Andrew Garfield is giving it his all on the set of Spider Man and admits that she is enjoying working with him.
The actress takes on the role of Gwen Stacy in the re-boot of the popular franchise - which sees Garfield take on the role of Peter Parker.
And Stone, who has been nominated for an Orange Rising Star Bafta, has nothing but praise for his co-star.
Speaking to MSN Movies the actress said: "He really is just giving it his all and I've never seen anything like it."He's incredibly talented and intelligent and intuitive It means so much to him to be playing that part and to just get to walk in Peter Parker's shoes.
"I don't mean to speak too soon, but I think people are going to be really blown away.”
There are plenty of Emma Stone movies coming or way this year as she has already completed work on Movie 43, Crazy Stupid Love and Friends With Benefits.
She is currently filming Spider Man - which is set for release in 2012.Gwen Stacy's father revealed in the film. Denis Leary portrays him , Hmm, I have a premonition that he will be killed in this film. Why?
Because in the original comics he was also killed. That and a recent pics with Emma as Gwen In a funeral.
http://screenrant.com/spiderman-reboot-set-images-benm-91483/
More pics of the funeral scene-
George Stacy (deceased) — Gwen Stacy's father, Police Captain. Introduced in The Amazing Spider-Man (vol. 1) #56 (1968). He approves of Peter and Gwen's relationship as boyfriend and girlfriend. During a fight between Spider-Man and Doctor Octopus, he is crushed by falling debris while saving a child. As he dies, he reveals to Peter that he had known his identity for some time (something Peter had suspected anyway), and asks Peter to take care of Gwen.
Emma Stone was on ‘The Tonight Show’ and let slip that she’s contracted for several ‘Spider-Man’ movies, implying that she probably won’t die in the upcoming ‘Spider-Man’ reboot by Marc Webb.

The video is down the article.
It might that they want to kill Gwen at the third film.
Or go the other and kill her in the second, then Peter bonds with MARY jane to comfort him in the last film
So that's it. -
-
Or she could play both Gwen AND Mary.
Too much? Okay fine.
-
Here is the question.
How will they top the up-side kiss in the first?
-
Here is the question.
How will they top the up-side kiss in the first?
By having a normal kiss with two people who are actually attractive.
OH! COLONIAL BURN!
-
Here is the question.
How will they top the up-side kiss in the first?
Well, considering that was pretty much the only iconic truly memorable thing they came up with for that movie, to the point that even they ripped it off for the next two movies…
making a good movie would be a start.
-
I don't lnow about rebooting a franchise that's barely a year old. Andrew Garfield looks the part, and he's a good actor so I'm sure he'll do well. Still, the ink has barely dried on the Raimi franchise, I would have definately waited about 10-15 years before rebooting.
These films need something from the Raimi era, I can't quite put my finger on it, oh wait…
!
Obligatory Bruce Camplbell Cameo, please. -

Its more than a year old. It debuted in 2002.

Not really, I want a completely fresh take on a old save the damsel formula the previous films. are were filled with.

I figure they could fill it with some better chemistry than in the previous films with Kirsten Dunst.
But we have to wait and see.
-
Bill I can't believe you're now arguing in favour of them rebooting the Spiderman franchise when you were so steadfastly believed that they will not (wait a while and then) reboot after Nolan leaves, but continue on with another director in Nolan's universe.

Find one quote from that said I believed that they wouldn't. I was always in favor of doing a reboot for Spider-man.
You mixed up with my feelings with rebooting the Bat-films again with the current Spider-man reboot.
Firstly I didn't care for the Riami' s run on the Spider-man films. This reboot looks like it has a lot potential. I believe that this reboot will to Spider-man like Batman Begins would be to Batman, I really think Marc, unlike Riami will make a Spider-man film that capture the character fully, and will make a better movie than any of Riami's Spidey flicks, and that Garfield will make a great Peter Parker. In fact far superior to McGuire's boring performance, I'm eagerly await what he does with the character.
He's clearly more enthusiastic(see the previous page in the thread I posted a link about him) then Tobey ever was. Marc Webb said they picked him for his intelligence, wit, humor and humanity– the ideal Peter Parker/Spider-man. I think Marc will surprise us, but I'm still worried about the script leak descriptions–"dark and gritty' still doesn't fit Spidey that well and I'm worried they might aim for a Dark Knight. Y'know with all the angst....I trust Marc and Garfield to deliver a film that matches the quality of what made the character so popular in the first place, while balancing the darkness, with the lit comedy, and great humor. Its the same for the Burton/Schumacher films I didn't find them all that great and was eagerly anticipating a Bat-film that fully captured the heart of the character that I grew with and I got that with Begins; and I will suspect I will get that with this film. The reason why I argue against a reboot again for Batman is because I still find a lot of potential for the Nolan-verse(first reboot) and it might be the foundation for future Bat-films. Unlike the Schumacher/Burton films (which focused way too much on the villain, and barely had a plot to hold it together) Nolan Bat-films have been successful and have garnered praise why reboot it and start from scratch so soon. It's pointless, especially with how successful the movies are now. Its better for another director to continue it in the same verse with a fresher take on the character then Nolan did and continue the story of Batman in his "older years." The Bat-comics have done this with the main continuity so why not the films?
I'm not totally opposed to reboots, as you know Batman is a character with like a gazillion stories; with many unique interpretations and I would like to see an ambitious take on the character on film; just not right now. Granted I don't want to see Nolan's verse forever, it just has room to tell more Bat-stories in. The only reason they did the reboot in the first place was because y'know Schumacher failed to deliver with and Batman and Robin..the same with Riami and Spider-man 3. Robby has brought to light that the villains weren't the problem it was Raimi's sloppy use of them that made the film suck. That and they wanted to sell more toys, just like Schumacher wanted to do with Batman and Robin.
Now we just need a Daredevil film reboot with a great writer and director and I will be satisfied.
-
No I did not mix up your feelings on Batman and Spiderman; that is what I am addressing.
You can't just bold specific phrases in a sentence and ignore what the sentence actually says.Read it properly; something that ends with 'continue on in Nolan's universe' is obviously talking about Batman.
-
Oh right. Sorry about that,
Now I want a Daredevil film reboot badly. Spiderman(is getting) and Batman got/gonna get reboots that/will get/got them right…Now its Daredevils turn!
-
Definitely, Daredevil deserves that. although I would be weary of that franchise coming to mainstream as it might end up detracting from the plus that Daredvil is sorta niche not being as 'big' as Batman, Superman etcetera.
EDIT: Sorry if I came off as a little harsh there; one of my pet hates is when people misconstrue what I say.
