well we might have a training arc/timeskip for the training arc, I mean either hancock or jinbei should teach him haki if they want him to survive in the new world
@AdmiralYonkouMt.Bandit:
IMO it's either all allowed or it isn't at all.
Yeah, I don't think you grew up in the places to know how this works.
Are you guys trying to insult me or make me feel ashamed by calling me homophobic? I really don't think its working. lol Its not an insult at all really.
You assumed I was homophobic from a joke I said about Mr.2.
If someone said Sasuke was queer you wouldn't get upset would you? No because it is done constantly and you guys won't complain.
Its cause I insulted your precious Mr.2, whom I hate.…I thought we were supposed to talk about the chapter.
Repeat after me "I am not a homophobe"
well we might have a training arc/timeskip for the training arc, I mean either hancock or jinbei should teach him haki if they want him to survive in the new world
Or about a million other things could happen and we can not have training on Amazon Lily because he wants to leave. Rayleigh can teach him hakibition if we really need someone to. In my opinion he'll power up on his own or at the very least without a training arc. A training chapter at most.
Yeah, I don't think you grew up in the places to know how this works.
I'm saying that's how it should be. It only makes sense. It's either all bad or all good.
But I dunno maybe you believe in the reclaiming of words and using them as empowerment.

yeah i guess rayleigh would be better….. and i understand him powering up on his own but it just seems weird that everyone else would power up but not him, but you definitely have a point there I just wonder how long that would take
it's our fault we are riding Mr. 2's dick, right?
Thats gay.
Yup, let uncle Zik fight your battle because you've obviously lost it otherwise
I've always want an uncle named Zik. AWESOME!!

Well, he's seen the effects of his hakibition enough, and realizes he's weak, so it's not impossible he'll try to work out the mystery of hakibition ala creating the Gears. But I do admit, we need a hakibition explanation, and I can't see Luffy giving us that, so some training may occur, but imo Oda will keep it brief. Like a montage after an explanation or something.

Cultures have things they do that mean one thing when in there, and another when outside.
When a black dude calls a black dude a "nigger" it has a way different meaning then when a white dude calls a black dude a "nigger" even if he means it in the comradery way.
Don't think I'm one of those putzes that will get mad at non-blacks using "nigger" but will defend or try and write off black people saying "cracker" as not the same. I agree that both are fucked up and niether has any excuse.
Thats gay.
Well that's what you were saying we were doing, even though we clearly weren't.
Zik why are you latching yourself to the runaway train? Secondly, why are you arguing something so stupid as the actual physical ability to say nigger which is totally besides the point? Now I'm black but not the type of person to want to beat someone's ass for saying it offensively (I'm more likely to laugh in your face) and I agree that saying it period is just plain ignorant but at the same time it's just not a decision that lies with whites because it's insensitive as hell to most blacks when it comes from them.

question I want to know is if he does learn haki will he be using it 24/7, or does he transform or say an actavation word to use it so we can at least know when he is using it, I'd like to see a new transformation like the gears just to see what Oda would come up with and so we still have some of the old luffy just punching the shit out of fodder

I doubt he transforms, but with how apparent it is when he uses it now, I don't think a fancy "attack name" type thing is needed. Based on Shanks' arrival on WB ship though, the 24/7 option you gave is possible.

Yeah i agree it seems like no transformation is needed based on WB, shanks, rayleigh, everyone at AL, and luffy unconsciously using it, It's more just me wanting to see what Oda would come up with for a design, and still wanting him to fight without haki sometimes, because idk how the reading your opponents attacks would work out
It nigga btw. No black person says nigger.
lol, don't try and get involved in this, it's way the hell over your head.

Right, between REALLY good friends who have made the lines clear, and in some peoples personal apathy, there are exceptions.
But as a general rule, don't even think about it.
And it shouldn't be hard to understand why.

So this has to do with culture bias. Let's ignore cultural diffusion.
When a black dude calls a black dude a "nigger" it has a way different meaning then when a white dude calls a black dude a "nigger" even if he means it in the comradery way.
There's a whiteboy in Glenwood projects. We call him whiteboy. He says nigger/nigga with no qualms or any ill will coming his way. Of course he grew up in the culture so I guess he gets that hood pass from a white person outside looking in.
Now you are right about how it goes for the dealings on the inside and outside. So maybe if whiteboy went to the South they'd chin check him for saying that.
From what I grew up seeing and my experiences that's just the conclusion I come to in regards to what "can't" and "can" be said.
@HaxeyeMihawk:
Zik why are you latching yourself to the runaway train?
I was bored and I disagree with some of the assumptions being taking for granted and the stupidity of it all. I'm not really aligning myself with the guy but if ppl want to see me as a a homophobe so be it.
Secondly, why are you arguing something so stupid as the actual physical ability to say nigger which is totally besides the point?
I'm not really arguing that. Since the answer is obvious. The argument is really whether it should be said or not and why.
I usually laugh at genuinely racist ppl who say the word to me as well not just white ppl. I mean some black ppl would act as if only they can say it and find themselves looking stupid in many situations in the occasions where they think they're barking on a non black person for using the word.
I mean I don't see spanish ppl going around calling each other spics but they say nigger. The thing I'm talking about is the way culture is advancing and coming together as far as this generation and the word is concerned. It's already happening. IMO the time for select words for specific groups is over. Don't make sense.
@JERK:
lol, don't try and get involved in this, it's way the hell over your head.
Right, between REALLY good friends who have made the lines clear, and in some peoples personal apathy, there are exceptions.

Pretty much, well said all around. It's pointless to try and act like a damn crusader trying to fight the double standard by saying it (Zik's case) when it's really just down to knowing when to leave things alone that are better left alone.
I am black jackass. You stay out of it.
That just makes it funnier that you think that.
@Zik:
So this has to do with culture bias. Let's ignore cultural diffusion.
Cultural diffusion concerns stuff like white guys like myself becoming huge hip-hop fans who put Dr Dre in their avatar.
Not racial slurs skipping happily over to the other line when people are still sore. I mean, I don't even get where you're coming from.
Why do you care that you shouldn't casually say a slur word when the people it concerns do? There's no functional purpose you're even fighting for here.

That's a good example of an exception.

They would do more then that.
It's already happening. IMO the time for select words for specific groups is over. Don't make sense.
We are many many many years away from that word becoming archaic enough for this.
nigger nigger nigger nigger nigger nigger nigger it's just a word stop letting it own you my brothers!
This really isn't the place for this discussion folks. Take it somewhere else.

So what about reciting those rap lyrics? Only saying nigger in the privacy of your home or around other non blacks that don't care.
I mean, I don't even get where you're coming from.
Why do you care that you shouldn't casually say a slur word when the people it concerns do? There's no functional purpose you're even fighting for here.
Either getting rid of the use of the word or getting rid of the negative connotation to it making it a slur. Same for fag and other gay slurs that funny enough have had several different meanings and connotations to them.
They would do more then that.
What kill every white (or non black) that says the word? Ha
We are many many many years away from that word becoming archaic enough for this.
I don't think the word needs to be archaic for that. I think in the near future it'll eventually come down to not saying it at all or complete apathy to the point it's not an issue.
I'll assume you were already writing that post Zik when I said to stop it.
Next person doesn't get that leniency.
Selecting this many posts is a huge pain in the ass, I'd rather not have to go through and delete or move them all. Bigotry is a multilayered subject going back thousands of years with infinite discussion potential if people can avoid name calling and act like mature adults while discussing it.
BUT THIS ISN'T THE THREAD FOR IT.
Drop the topic or take it somewhere else.

Obligatory chapter discussion I still think Luffy has training coming up and next chapter either Hancock or Jimbei will convince him to get stronger possibly refusing to take him to SA as he is now.
It'd be cool if they told him that he couldn't leave AL till he could beat one of them, though this probably won't happen.
I still think Luffy has training coming up and next chapter either Hancock or Jimbei will convince him to get stronger.
From a writers standpoint, I can't seem him staying on AL longer than needed. You don't put out a weekly story without most of the main cast for a year or more then have THE main character say he's gotta go meet the other mains only to cockblock your audience with a training arc/chapter/anything-longer-than-half-a-chapter at AL. Luffy probably needs time to recover, and perhaps he'll have hakibition explained during this time, but there won't be direct training on AL. If training will happen it will be on route to Sabaody or by Rayleigh at Sabaody. This is assuming Luffy doesn't somehow teach himself, which is possible, but would likely lack a hakibition explanation that everyone seems to want right now unless, as said earlier, this occurs during Luffy's recovery stay.

He hasn't fully healed yet which was the point of going to AL in the 1st place, then there's the fact that whatever Kuma sent him to AL to do, likely hasn't been done since I doubt Kuma predicted his attempt at rescuing Ace and other than that all he has accomplished at AL was befriending Hancock. Lastly him teaching himself haki would make no sense because he has no real basis of understanding of haki yet and has been shown to be clueless of it numerous times. People think that because he self taught the gears and other df attacks that he can inexplicably teach himself haki while simultaneously ignoring the years of survival training and practice fighting Luffy did to build a basis in fighting with his df in order to be able to come up with advanced df techs like the gears.

I already said that he's got to have noticed the occassional uses of hakibition he's done, and he realizes he's weak now, so while slim, he could become self taught.The problem with him being self taught, as I said is the lack of an explanation to us readers on how hakibition works. What if Kuma sent him to AL to learn about hakibition and Oda takes it the way I said of Hancock/Jimbei explaining it while Luffy has his obligatory recovery, then Luffy learns how to put it to use on his own? Then we don't have any retardedly staying on AL when Luffy said he's going to see his crew, and Kuma's happy (assuming he sent Luffy to AL for more of a reason than escaping the Sabaody situation, which while kind of lackluster, could be the only reason)

I'd say Kuma sent him there because he knew Luffy could hitch a ride with Hancock to Marineford. I'm hesitant to say this because it would require a lot of Aizen "just as planned" trolling.
I would hope Kumas intent was to get Luffy away from the execution alltogether… and NOT get him out of danger just to put him in greater danger.
Ok, I may have missed something (hell, it wouldn't be the first time) but how on earth is Hancock stronger than Luffy if her powers don't work on him? Jinbei I can see, but Hancock seems to rely strictly on the power of her d/f, (unless I'm forgetting something that happened during the war?) and it simply does not work on Luffy.
ETA in other words it wouldn't be difficult, theoretically, for him to best her in battle and get his ride to SA, if that were the deal.
@robbybedfart:

Indeed. I doubt he foresaw Hancock falling for Luffy.

yeah he did after all know that Luffy and Ace were brothers. He may have felt that was the best action possible to prevent him going to the excecution.
@I:

I'd assume he'd figured Luffy would be stalled enough by an island of hakibition users and their shichibukai empress to keep him from running off to the execution. Unfortunately for Kuma, Hancock fell for Luffy and Nyon had a newspaper, so we know how well that worked.

But all implications are that he hasn't noticed his haki use. And whle he could be taught haki on the way to SA, it would seem a bit off to be sent to AL presumably to be taught haki only to get an explanation on the ride home and again, haki seems like it would take more than just a few days lecture to be able to pull off. Why would Luffy take years to adapt to using his df but then take to haki after only an explanation of it?

Answers:
Luffy is a rabbit, the darkness blinding Luffy spread to everyone else, Brooks eyes went crazy, Brooks hair got wet, jaw turned invisible, stole Kaku’s neck, Franked shaved his sideburns, had rhinoplasty, got the dents out of his chin, Zoro had his human horn stolen, his earrings were stolen too, Nami saw my penis, Usopp saw my penis, Robin gained inspiration from watching Total Recall, Chopper saw a golden opportunity and became her manager, the resulting video was too much for Sanji and he had to smoke even more.

Hancock still has haki. We have yet to see her fight worthy opponent. All we've seen are fodder attacks with her DF and that one time she attacked Smoker.
Given that she's a shichibukai she must be a skilled fighter with her haki alone.
I really don't see Hancock protesting that much if Luffy is determined to leave and if she did it would be on another focus not to do with his injuries. So there isn't much of a reason for Luffy to fight her so he can leave.

She took out most of the pacifistas. Without her DF.
Yes, it's thanks to her haki, but she's a master of it, and has the exact same type of haki Luffy has.
Amazon Lily was feared long before Hancock ever ate that devil fruit. They are fantastic warriors, and Hancock is no exception.

Thank you for giving me an endless source of nightmares for the next week or so.
Everything about that is hella creepy, and Luffy's face takes the cake.

Yeah, those are fodder to her.
Yes, it's thanks to her haki, but she's a master of it
When did I say otherwise?

Zik I think most of that reply, while quoting you, was for my benefit. He was using your post to school me, lol. You are just that brilliant.
ETA–No--I can see where you are the one he is answering, Sorry. I'll step aside and let the big boys talk, now.
Thank you both of you for helping me see. I forgot about her haki for some reason. D'oh, lol.
And Hancock ate her d/f as a slave--same as her sisters, and I thought AL was supposed to have had some sort of rep from years and years back, long before Hancock became Empress, as well. Is that wrong?
Damn, I'm tired and slap happy. Off to bed. Enjoy your night gentlemen.

Most of that response was to I survived the Buster call.
I just didn't feel like typing out 2 responses.
However, I'm saying that the pacifistas are not fodder, that they are worthy opponents, and that her beating them is a proof of her strength. After all, if the pacifistas are fodder, then I'm confused. They were dominating the New World captains for a while, and completely decimated the SHs and the rest of the Supernovi.
If the PXs are fodder, then what does that make everyone they beat?
We know, the Kuja's were known to be fearsome before she got her fruit, because even when she was a kid they were talking about how only the fiercest warriors could become pirates. We also know that there were several empresses s before her, and that the Kuja have known how to use haki for quite some time. So I'm going to say that it's safe to assume that they've been feared for a long while
Why should it only be Luffy who gets training? Don't you think the whole crew needs training? One possibility is that Luffy meets his crew in SA and tells them that they cannot move forward until they get stronger. One of the main themes of the flashback was Luffy's excessive training. He needs time to train again to become stronger and that could be done with his crew after a short time-skip.
You are just that brilliant.
Thanks.
However, I'm saying that the pacifistas are not fodder, that they are worthy opponents, and that her beating them is a proof of her strength.
I'm saying the same by saying the pacifsta are fodder to her.

I was seriously asking when she got a DF and when AL became feared. Since although we can say she could be fearsome without her DF I'm curious as to how you're able to discern from when she got her DF and how that factors in whether or not she was an elite fighter before that. Although I've already said she's proven to be that since her DF has no effect on Luffy.
Why should it only be Luffy who gets training? Don't you think the whole crew needs training?
I think ppl are assuming all of the SHs will be getting stronger/improvements from where they were sent or on their journey back to SA.
Them getting pwned in SA (plus fights against Croc and Moria) pretty much let us know they ALL need to get stronger.
I think we're arguing the same side here….:wassat:
@AdmiralYonkouMt.Bandit:
Thanks.

Alright. That just didn't come across in your original post.

She got her DF when she was a slave. They forced her to eat it.
I'm assuming AL was feared long before then simply by what we've seen in the manga and what Nyon has said.
