Something about this chapter just makes me feel like there's not going to be anymore crewmates. It just feels like after this lengthy separation of Luffy and the other 8 crewmembers, another addition would only act as a third wheel so to speak.
I have retyped this sentence many times, first agreeing with you then some-what agreeing with you. Frankly, Oda has planned for ten crew members since the beginning of this series more than ten years ago, and I think while it may be too much for a beginner to pull off switching between a lot of characters, I think Oda can do it. Let's hope though that the series doesn't balloon anymore than it has, or it may be another 12 years before we see the end.
didnt jinbei tell him to think about what he still has in life, not his crew/friends? Just think about what he still hasn't lost. He probably counted other things like the ship, shanks, hat, life, etc, etc, then he counted his friends. Idk I think if i was counting I would count them as a group with one finger lol must wait for SBS

I mean he either gives an ambiguous answer hinting toward more crew mates, outright says no more crew mates and he always planned for the crew to be complete, ambiguously hints to no more crew mates but says something about temporary nakama like Johnny & Yosaku all the way to Vivi.

His crew had 16 divisions of a hundred people each and 42 separate new world crews too. Sounds about right.

Maybe it's like gator meat? They're fierce, rough and ugly, but their meat is tender and flavorful.
Anyway, another great chapter. The stuff with Dadan, Garp and Makino was very emotional and struck all the right chords. Though short and sweet, the Ace/Whitebeard funeral scene was perfect, and Shanks' speech to Luffy was awesome. I eagerly await their inevitable future meeting… It'll be legendary!
As for Luffy and Jinbei? I don't know where to start! All of their interaction was gold to me. Luffy's violent outburst, Jinbei's thrashing/pep talk, the flashbacks to Ace and Jinbei in their cell and, of course, Luffy's realization that he still has his family waiting for him... all of it hit me hard.
Oda really knows how to capture (and capitalize on) real, human emotion perfectly. It's chapters like this that always remind me just why I think so highly of him. Can't wait to see what happens next!
Let's hope though that the series doesn't balloon anymore than it has, or it may be another 12 years before we see the end.

Hopefully next chapter won't be Luffy/Ace ending the chapter with them yelling into the sky like they've done the last god knows how many times.
I really liked this chapter and am interested where the next one will take us. I really hope the the next chapter focuses on the rest of the SH and/or the outside world rather than Luffy, jimbei and hancock

That said - I do think she will be replaced by a new crewmember able to sail into the new world. Or maybe she will return to them after seeing the events

This chapter was very well done.
I couldn't tell in the spoiler thread if Dadan was crying or not and now it appears that she was. You really have to feel bad for Garp, I can't imagine just how bad he hates Akainu.
Speaking of Garp, was he back in the Goa Kingdom specifically to seek out Dadan or was he there on assignment?
What are the chances we get to Fishman Island before the end of the year?
I also want to see if Jinbei will allow Luffy to go back to SA in his current state or will this be a segue into the much speculated "training arc".
In his current state, Luffy would be big trouble going back to SA, assuming it is as dangerous as it was before Marineford. He would still struggle against a Pacifica and maybe even some stronger bounty hunters could capture him in his current state.
Didn't know there were people still arguing that Vivi was a member of the crew, weird.

(Big fan of this chapter, even if I think shit can still go down on Amazon Lily whether its a training arc or 'Boa lost her Warlord' status type -ish. Nice to see Luffy snap out of his funk relatively quickly.)

Unlike many on the forum, I didn't actually cry in this chapter (and a lot of the previous chapters made me weep like a baby)
However, this is probably the most heartwarming chapter in quite a while.
-Dadan showing that she cared about Luffy and Ace a lot more than I thought
-Marco thanking Shanks at the funeral
-Shanks (mentally) telling Luffy that it's okay to cry at times like these, and wishing him to pull through
-Jinbei reminding Luffy that he has many MANY other people he cares about
-Ace being relievedSo now, the speculation about One Piece becoming ''darker'' or Luffy becoming ''emo'' are almost-officially proven false ;)
I thought it was very apparent that Dadan cared deeply for Luffy and Ace when she cried when they departed to be pirates.
It's official Chapter 600 will feature the Mugiwara reuniting. Let's just see how Luffy is going to get them back together in 9 chapters.

i think chapter 600 will be the strawhats departing for fishman island. i think they reunite around chapter 596/597 and then finally leave at chapter 600. the next few chapters will probably revolve around hancock and luffy and her finally resolving her feeling and just what she is going to do about them.

Well it has been over 3 weeks since they were separated and it'll be at least a week to get from Amazon Lily to Sabaody Archipelago so by that time it'll have been a month. That's plenty of time for the rest of the crew to reunite.

I think that the crew will reach Shabondy at relativly the same time, exept for Zoro, who got lost trying to find a method of transportation.
I am pretty sure the crew will rush to Sabaody once they found out Ace is dead (I am pretty sure Franky and Brook got to know about Ace during their travels just like Robin knew about Monster!Chopper). So I guess everyone will be getting there around the same time… maybe Luffy will be the last one to step in.

Without a doubt, they've all read a newspaper in the 2 weeks since the war, or have heard the news from somewhere. I'm sure they've all heard Luffy was involved, trying to save his brother Ace, and is now currently missing.
Except for maybe Nami. I don't think they get the paper in the Sky, but even so, on her way back she would have definitely checked a paper.

If Luffy was counting the people he had left, he wouldn't have included himself. And they haven't bonded quite as much with Sunny as they had with Merry, at least not yet. So I don't think he was counting the ship. Bon-chan is also out of the question, since regardless of the poor okama's actual fate, Luffy still thinks he's dead. Same goes for Sabo.
It's possible Luffy already considers two more people to be his closest companions…which strikes me as really unlikely, considering we've been spying on his adventure this entire time. Has Luffy been keeping a pet dog in secret? Did he kidnap Shushu? I would throw out a few names, but I don't want to start a "[Character Name] 4 nakama!" war.

You know, One Piece has made me cry plenty of times, but I don't think I've ever seen anything in this manga quite as poignant as Luffy counting up his remaining loved ones on his fingers. I really just lost it reading that part.

I see it as Jimbei confused moreso in the sense of "huh? WTF is he counting his fingers for?" rather than the "Hm? More than 8?"
Especially when, in the following pages, Luffy says he has crewmates, and Jimbei simply responds "I see…"
But, to each his own. I'm not one to say you're wrong, since it can be taken many ways. :)

Oh thats right god forbid an Author of an IP would dare to liase and contribute to an animation based on their work.
