Cana was always a mature girl who happens to be a drunk that was all her character ever was. You tacking on character archetypes that never applied to her in the first place is incorrect since she never acted like Shikamaru or Robin in any shape or form. :getlost:

Your complaints about a character that was hardly featured outside of the Phantom Guild arc is even more odd because shes a side character who was underdeveloped in the first place. Complaining about a character that was never expanded on makes no sense. Its like saying for example Oda starts focusing on Dragon and all of sudden hes less of a character in your eyes even though he never got focused on to a degree that would let you gauge his character any way.

So what made Cana less interesting in your eyes? Was it the hanging out it Lucy being sis's, her failure to become an S-class, or maybe its the fact that her actually having a background that factors into the trial? So far those are the only things that have been revealed about her this arc besides "lol drunk" and "Maturegirl"

So basically, it's your own fault for being let down by a character when they don't live up to the persona you've fabricated for them.

And this is why I don't go in with any expectations. Either I'm pleasantly surprised, or nothing happens. Best approach for stuff like this.

Levy is a lot different than Lucy. Even if she's in love with Gajeel, I always found her personality different, despite how little we've seen of her. She's not a slut, for one thing, like Lucy is. (I like Lucy, but we all know she's a slut.) She's more of a sweet librarian who likes to read and is quite intelligent, but has self esteem issues.

Okay, I will admit though that the stuff at the end of the chapter seemed a little OOC. I agree with what Lion said a little bit about how it could have been handled a bit differently. I originally though in this chapter Gajeel was finally going to bring up what happened when he attacked her. I still expect it to come up at some point.

Although their pairing has been hinted at a little bit. First he saved her from Laxus' attack. Then during that arc, she seemed to kind of be flirting with him a tad bit when she was working on breaking Fried's barrier. Nothing extreme, but it sort of came across like that. Even the anime seems to have expanded on it a bit. So I like it and hope it continues, but in a way that seems less forced than this chapter.

As for Cana, well I've never liked her all that much. But we know nothing about her. If she gets proper focus in this arc, it may change my opinion of her.

but seriously, while I can't say that this chapter's events clashed with Levy's previously established personality, because there isn't one, it is certainly heavy-handed and awkward. A rush to throw some characterisation out there, before she gets kidnapped and someone has to rescue her or something.

Now, the last four chapter look to me like a turning point of this arc. From here it can go two ways - classical fucked up way, or better written rare one. So far, it was kind of entertaining - what was shown of Fairy Tail, Zeref revelation and Grimour Heart arrival. And it might stay that way if shit can hit the fan.

And come on, Levy acting out supposedly existing character? Don't you know it was all so that Hiro could draw a Gajeel spread? Duh.

New episode was alright. Nothing special. 2 chapters.

Charlie got a more kiddish voice than I imagined her having, and the stabbing scene was of course censored, but other than that it was all fair game. It looks like they're using mostly new BGM, 'cause I didn't notice a single old BGM besides the episode title screen.

The Blue Pegasus guys are pedos. -_-

Like people watch House for the medicine. They watch it for Hugh Laurie's mad acting skills, his hilarious jerk-ass antics, blue puppy dog eyes and some sweet, sweet soap. On the entertaining television level, it is satisfactory. Unlike Fairy Tail which is unsatisfactory on any shonen level (except for maybe art).

Hm, during this week's jobbing session in the anime Cobra actually connected Erza to the Tower of Paradise (while being a total creeper), so hopefully the anime will actually make note of how the members used to be slaves instead of leaving it for the side material like Mashima did.

I thought using the perfume instead of a knife was better. The battle royale was a let down however. Racer and Hot eye's bits were handled quite well.

From what I gather Mashima said that the members, excluding Brain, were among the slaves working on it in one of the volumes, but nowhere in the story itself. When the anime was doing Erza's flashback, they were shown occasionally in the background. And the scene in this episode where Cobra realizes that Erza was one of the slaves too definitely wasn't in the manga.

C'mon guys. How many times will it take before you realize people have differing opinions and it's impossible to think on the same wavelength. Lion, if you hate Fairy Tail, it's fine. But some of us enjoy it. I'm not saying most of us here think it's amazing, because we don't, but I think it's done pretty good overall. I would say it's usually mediocre, but has occasionally gone higher than that, like this arc is hinting at.

As for the Gajeel/Levy stuff, it's either hit or miss I guess. No one is going to like every pairing, so there's no point in overly discussing it. I do agree about the fact that Gajeel attacked her… It's entirely possible that he feels some sort of guilt for what he did and that Levy has forgiven him, but I do think it needs to be touched on more. I hope at some point in this arc.

That's pretty interesting, actually. I really don't remember them appearing in the background though… or perhaps I do, but it is really fuzzy. One thing that's good about this anime is, like One Piece most of the time, it is good with implied filler.

I've long accepted the censorship in the anime and I no longer care about it. As long as the acting, music, art and animation continue to stay on par (or mostly satisfying in the case of the art, but not always great) I will continue to enjoy it.
