how can dragon be a noble if he is garps son
Um… Dragon had a mother? Unless Garp is a hermaphrodite who can have children with himself...

@Robo:
There have already been hints that he's controlling the weather.
perhapse then he already has the fruit and the preperations are escape boats for the people in the fire? :o
Has it ever been proven that Garp is not a noble of the Goa kingdom? Not that I think he is mind you but everyone seems to point to the unseen mother in that scenario.
If they had access to a body of water they wouldn't be in danger.

Its probably Ivankov. Him using the word ''babe'' for Dragon might actually suggest that they both have joined forces recently. Their new collaboration might explain why Ivankov is still using that word for Dragon
It makes me so sad when I see young Ace…... :(((((

I'm sorry, but what exactly does that have to do with my post. And it is Ivankov at the end, her unique way of speaking confirms it.
Once again Smoker rules with the ladies. He does need to force, it is natural. Sanji could learn things from him.

well that propably a no cause the old guy has a beauty spot in his cheak and sbo doesnt
@Elektrik:
"Will They SURVIVE!?!?!"… no shit, its a flashback lol :P
Haha, yeah. I lol'ed hard reading that.
Brennen's new avvie had me in stitches.
Iva's line at the end made me so pumped up for the next chapter. I can't wait to see Dragon slaughtering those disgusting pieces of shit (nobles).
The three cups suspended in a net on the wall put a warm smile on my face. Little touches like this are what I love most about One Piece.

The word unsen and mother made me think that u were refering to that foot in the last page of this chapter. My apologies
Ah, that's what I thought. Looking back my wording was a bit more ambiguous then I thought it was so no worries.
It makes me so sad when I see young Ace…... :(((((
Same here. ; 3;
THIS CHAPTER. THIS CHAPTER. OMG THIS CHAPTER.
So awesome.
Granted I say that every time, but srsly. OP just keeps getting more and more epic. I LOVE THIS SO MUCH.
This makes Ace's devil's fruit much more interesting.
JESUS, people!
"Dragon…!! preparations have been made, babe!!!" is BEING SAID BY IVANKOV! NOT LUFFY'S MOM!
C'mon…
Why did Garp never took care of the Blue Jam Pirates?
This is so odd.
Why did he left Ace there since a baby, and never took him to where luffy was born.
Yay, Smoker!
Probably Sabo went with Dragon.
Dragon is beast.

She was talking about me.
I was using this:
I know there are folks here who flip out on anyone who says anything negative about OP, but good god has this flashback arc just been riddled with tired cliches. None more worse than what we saw here. God, I couldn't even feel anything regarding the nobles since it was obvious Oda was trying waaaaaaay too hard to make them bastards. All they needed to do was kick a puppy and eat a baby. Shit gets boring after a point. I don't even hate them. They feel like fucking background.
And Sabo's line at the end was the worst thing ever. The whole thing about High Town being more stinky than Grey Terminal because of "rotten people" was so unbelievably corny my reaction could not be described as a mere facepalm. No, my friends, face and palm became one at that moment. Until Dragon showed up, this was looking to be another case of the cover page being way more interesting than the chapter itself… Aside from one or two moments here and there (Dadan's reveal, Garp's "hi kids, how ya doin--VICIOUS BEATING!!!"), these chapters have been boring as shit. How is it every Straw Hat gets a damn interesting backstory, yet the main character has the most boring, cliche'd, tiring backstory I've had to sit through...
This whole arc feels like canon filler. Complete with a child character who comes out of nowhere and becomes the focus of the arc. Sabo feels like a canon version of Apis...
For god's sake, Dragon, save us! Save us from the cliche train, what rides on a track of boredom! Show us something interesting!
Had to get that out of my system. I feel better…
great chapter

Ah, I thought that might be it, but when I checked your avatar it was waves, so I figured it must have been mind, referencing the time I used super-chibi-kuja.
Normally I would just let Zephos deal with this.

This chapter is interesting.
It gives important information for the storyline.
And Oda is describing the society. Very realistic. And I enjoy it. Full of details. Full of thoughts behind the plot.
He is showing us how corrupted the world is. And why Dragon wants to overthrow the WG. Why he became the most wanted man. And Sabo may become a revolutionaire later. I don't mind if Oda give the information on how some revolutionaires had their issues with the WG and join the revolution. That is just…. classic. He let us know what they are fighting against, the reason they struggle.
The world in One Piece is far more realistic and well-written and fully-backed up than Naruto, Bleack, HunterXHunter and many other shounen. Being realistic, not being cliche.
Most interesting flashback so far. Most of people here enjoy it. Many ones have great insight in the series. So if you are an odd one out, that doesn't mean it sucks.

I'm assuming they are the town hoodlums and delinquents referenced [[URL="http://mangastream.com/read/one_piece/67373685/6"]here].
Don't mind him. If there was a chapter of Croc being constipated with Magellan beating on the door because he really needs to use it Shmeckie would give the chapter a 9/10. Would have been 10/10 if Magellan wasn't annoying Croc. Nobles corruption was hardly overplayed, neither have any of these other so called cliques.

Haha, thank for advice. I wasn't really paying attention to the chapter threads in the past so I don't really know about people here.
Reading One Piece is completely different experience from reading some bullshit like "Believe in myself", "conquer inner self","Befriend with the evil" in Naruto, which is truly childish and cliche. This chapter remind me of Berserk pre-eclipse. The whole nobles-commoner-classes thing. One Piece deals with people, not some bullshit like a devil.
And yet why am I comparing Naruto with One Piece? Bad thing.
I wonder if Sterry grew up to be the first Mr. 7…
It's possible, but probably not.

Actually that might be pretty funny, which would be entertaining.
Not overplayed?! We had several pages of nothing but "oh my god look how much these people suck!" Shit went nowhere, we got the message last chapter. Hell, that whole deal with them adopting a backup kid was just an eye-roller. How many times did we need to hear "your parents don't love you haw haw haw" before we were supposed to have gotten the point? These nobles are just carbon copies of the Celestial Dragons, without the goofy helmets. Every single scene with those people was them doing something dickish. And not the impressive villain kinda dickish, like Akainu's speech about Whitebeard before killing Ace. No, this was "lite Disney villain" dickish. Cinderella's step-family wasn't this over-the-top.
But you are right, they're certainly not "cliques." "Cliches", yes, but not "cliques". Thanks for proving my point, though.
Stelly was a goddamn villain at the age of 8. I expect so much on him.

Disney villains, huh? Do they enjoy killing burning human-shaped trashes like a game? Do they make a boy be ashamed of being one of them? And how do people react to their dickishness? By a fucking well-planned revolution?
The Nobles and royal family deal with their issues like … real people at XVIII century.
This guy is just fucking awesome
@Sea:

What does that prove, exactly? The nobles' behavior thus far hasn't been just dickish, but in a really hammy way. And they don't stop. We got that Sabo's family sucked awhile ago. Making them act like bastards when we actually meet them is one thing, but it was every scene they were in, and it was all either cheesy or repetitous. Again: these people are the Celestial Dragons all over again. We didn't need a ton of motivation for the revolutionaries dropped on us. We got that the World Government are assholes a long time ago. We were just reminded after the war ended.
I don't mind that they're evil, I like villains. It's that they're so cliche about it. The best thing I can compare their behavior to is when hancock broke that statue of her. When the one lady talked about how hard the children worked to make it, and how careful with it they were, you knew exactly what Hancock was gonna do. And then she did it. And when she did, it was hardly anything major, because you saw it coming. That's what these people are. Nothing was surprising or shocking. Just textbook.

Why do we need them to do something surprising or shocking? That would be unrealistic. What do you expect the real assholes in XVIII century to do? Something surprising and shocking? What is it? What is it that we can swallow as a thing that can happen in a human society?
Oda is just being realistic.
The other villains are evil beyond society. I guess that is why you find them interesting. But, come on, Oda is describing real society. The nobles here are assholes, not villains.
You always expect the wrong things.
Think the more the nobles piss us off the sweeter it is when someone punches them in the face.
I don't know if the best is yet to come, very likely because Dragon just showed up, but compared to the other flashbacks this one does..hmm..kinda suck..
Not that it is bad, I love Odas story telling, but the pacing is kinda slow and boring.
I remember when we had Robins flashback I almost cried after the first two chapters because it was so full of emotions. IMO this is my favorite flashback.
But well, let's see what else Oda got left for us in store ;)
Thinking of how things might fit together if Sabo does go revolutionary, I have an idea of what I think would be cool. The flashback ends and that leads to Sabo's current appearance… on a mission to Tequila Wolf. Cue Strawhat Return arc.

"They're being realistic" is hardly a justification. Y'know what else is realistic? Going to the store and buying tampons. Doesn't mean I wanna read about someone's tampon-purchasing escapades.
It's not even the burning of the Grey Terminal that bugs me, it's shit like this, or this. I'm not expecting a ton of subtlety–this is shonen, after all--but Jesus Christ...!
@Furnace:

But he's NOT. He didn't say "babe" at all.
That's the translator's liberal localization choice.
He simply spoke in the usual Ivankov nonsense babble speech, which isn't exactly translatable

So Stelly makes this chapter horrible? Just ignore him. The truth is I hate the scene with him as well. But I like the rest.
Like this guy's face:
Perfectly realistic asshole.
Oh I love that guy's face, too, but it wasn't just Stelly. It was the first panel in the first page I linked to, the nobles on the street, etc. etc. Cut all those kick the dog moments in half, and it wouldn'tve been fine, and still got the point across.

Why do you still read One Piece?
Oda's depiction of evil has always been straight forward and traditional, as far back as Morgan and Wapol.
It was ALWAYS Disney like, in both comedy and cliche.
It's kinda late to be whining and bitching about that aspect.
Nice chapter babe.
I'm too happy to see that cover. I hope it goes on being like this until it totally becomes cannon. Smoker Hina FTW!
Dragon appearing was just too awesome for me. I thought it would just be brothers saving each other and brotherly bonding being made… but look there's daddy!
I'm still laughing at that "Will they survive?" bit. I'm sorry to spoil you... but they survived.

Stelly may play an important role in the story. And he is being an asshole at such a young age.
And this panel is the best of him:
The "Kill it with fire" face is perfect.
So you complaining that the whole chapter is horrible because of some panels. I don't mind minor things, just the general plot. I love how well-written the world in OP is, which somehow give a feeling of a real world. And it is supposed for 15 years old. When I am going to read a One Piece chapter I always think :"Oh, hope I am not going to have to read some childish shit!!" That is the way I expect.

Perfectly realistic asshole.
He's less than nothing compared to Moria.
I always liked the stupidly evil villains. So many stories have gone for the sympathetic villain thing. "Oh, he has a backstory and he isn't all that bad." That idea has gotten a bit annoying to me over the years, because it's gotten to a point where everyone tries to throw in at least a freudian excuse for each antagonist. It's made me appreciate the Snidely Whiplash-brand evil for evil's sake character. One Piece sometimes redeems villains, but, while they're villains, they're just unrepentant assholes and it's great seeing them get taken down. That's just my feeling, though.

Because it hasn't been this textbook. Morgan was pretty forgettable aside from his design, but compare Kuro's "I endured it" moment to this. It's not that the evil is just straightforward, it's that it's so predictable and dry here. That, and there's nothing else to these people. Just a kick the dog moment dispenser.

At what point did I say that?! I had a lot of problems with this whole arc. You've only been focusing on one thing.
