@Ivotas:
I'm sorry but I don't see an argument against my point that his character at the end was the same as his character in the beginning. When we first saw him he appeared like a guy that knows the value of life, so when he does the exact same thing in his final moments it isn't something I would consider character development.
why isnt it a development to question your chara and come to the same result after judging for one self some new points\indentations on that subject ? i don
t think you can say thats no improvement just because for your point of view he has to be different from his starting point(where we first met him):wassat:
also i dont know if you can just say "he appeared like a guy who knows the value of life". how can you judge that by a first impression? most of the time the people with problems hide behind a "happy-face facade",and also adding that he copied somehow luffy and garps view of life just shows us that we can
t rly say how he feeled inside to that time.
i think his meeting with WB gave him finally the opportunity to find a hold and someone to look up to.
the irony would be that this guy respected his father and somehow does the same as Roger.
from this we can see that ace never rly had something against his fathers lifestyle as a pirate, when he decided to have a new father who has the same and also always had the dream of becoming one. it was more like his hatred of having a life as an outsider and to have no real family. but with luffy he finally found a brother after being taunt so many times. and later with WB, who had the same dream as him of having a family, ace somehow found his freedom he never even hoped to achieve. so that was the first time he thought he found a family and something which is worth to fight and life for. thats was the point we first met him and sure he seemed there as a happy guy, but as we later saw he didn
t rly exept that he was loved by so many and that he was rly worth to life after ebing told many years that it would be better when he wasnt alive..such thoughts like that doesn
t vanish just like that, but as we saw he was to that time rly glad to finally found someone who also just wnated a family and he was accepted by those.
so WB was fucking important to him, cause he gave him finally this feeling he missed his whole life and so it`s no wonder that he just accepted WB as his father and noone else.
being than in the WAR! on the scaffold he reviewed his past for himself (and for us readers) and thought if it was rly okay for him having a family and a brother, who all care that much for him..
it was something he dreamed of as a kid, but never even hoped to achieve in the end.
seeing all his friends and his family doing so much for the him ,who thought the whole world would be against ,that finally showed him that he WAS allowed to have a family and to enjoy his life.
so i think that IS some chara development to question that for oneself more than one time(also he had to do this for us readers or else we would have never known) and finding finally for oneself the answer.."YES", i have a family and iam allowed to have a happy life.
