I have a question. Has anyone gotten over a past collectible and moved onto something else? What did you do with your old ones? Sell them? I'm just kind of scared to collect too much OP stuff as I feel it's going to one day get to the point where I don't see the merit collecting anymore and then I'm going to have all this stuff just sitting around. Then what to do with it? I just see my OP collection growing and wondering if i should get the hell out of dodge now. I'm sure when/if I have kids my collectibles will just be a passing thought and not hold much importance.

I wish I could say I have for One Piece, but if I ever started collecting something worth money I'd be forced to sell it. I came back into OP collecting with a clean slate, other then the unnecessary amounts of fabric I have. XD

I have some 90s comics, and a lot more 2000s comics, which aren't really worth a lot since they aren't CCG'd. A few old Marvel and Star Wars figures from the 90s as well. Probably going to sell/gift a few.

One of my friends is a big Iceman fan, and he's heading to Yale for grad school (GO HIM!). Gonna give him Freezer-change Iceman from…what, 1992?

Woah…. so many WCF... O_O must restrain myself! I really wanted to get a lot of my favorite characters from different arcs in one consistent figure set, and I can't decide on MBHs or on WCFs. I feel like with both you're kind of doomed to buy most of a set.

I've just sold a few of my OP figures, but it was coming down to a quality and space issue. At first I figured I would only have a little OP merch, as I only have a little of everything else, but then it turned into I'm MOSTLY going to have OP merch XD

I'm also moving to an apartment on campus, so I have one tiny room for all my merch. If I can reorganize the furniture to where there is room I'll get one of those display cabinets from Ikea, and that needs to hold almost all of it. (I think I will just stay in the apartment until I finish out the school year when I turn 21, then I'll go find my own place).

Sure I could keep crap at home, but to force myself (which I REALLY have to force myself) to limit spending, I'll force it into being a space issue and then I'll have to think extra hard on purchases, and hopefully save tons of money XD

I've sold quite a few of my figures, but most were ones I got on a whim at a convention/on ebay at the time, when I would blow money just to blow it. Now I'm giving more thought and consideration to what I want, so my purchases are becoming more meaningful so I mostly keep what I like and not have to worry about the sadness of parting with others.

But eventually, I'm sure I will either stop enjoying the series so much (at this point, I doubt this will be anytime soon at alllll XD), or be forced into getting rid of it all/most of it due to life events. You never know what's going to happen exactly, but I think for most of us, one day, in some way or another we're going to, or have to, move on.

And it's really painful when you have stuff you can't sell (even after trying to sell it for $2 XD) that you need to get rid of… It hurts to throw an anime collectible in Goodwill...

Look a few posts above this i posted a list of WCFs i really want, after that i rewatched all my WCFs and imagined how great it would be to have all those characters i want as WCFs, then i come back to see this? Ah, dude. You missed the other parts where we were talking about it. It's supposed to be Y20,000 for a case of 25 for UFO catcher prizes. So it's going to be much less than that. So far, our collective reasoning is putting it around GLM prices, above Y2,000.

Well, it was translated by others as being sold in a case of 25. I would honestly be surprised if any of them sold for $200+. Although, it also depends on the type of materials it's made out of. Besides being completely hollow, it might be something like a soft vinyl figure (though I doubt it). At the moment, no one really knows how much it's going for since it's a game prize. We might see tremendous mark-up if the demand is high at the start.

The reason they translated Hachi as "Bee" is so simple, don't know why I didn't see it in the first place. The word for Bee in Japanese is Hachi. It's written as in kanji.　ハチ is katakana for Hachi, whereas　はち is the hiragana for Hachi. Katakana is more often used for character names or foreign words. But most people know that, I think. Strange that the translator you used would translate katakana Hachi into Bee, though. aiyeee

I read somewhere that PVC itself is really, really cheap. I'm not an expert on different types of PVC, but I'm sure the POPs shouldn't be as expensive as they're advertised. That's why I'm reluctant to buy POPs besides my Lucci. The new ones are made sturdily, but I think they're much too hyped up and cost more than I'm willing to pay. ;w; Not that they don't look nice, though, a lot of them are stunning. But my bias resurfaces everytime I see Ace POP's face. LOL

And…I was briefly, very briefly, into collecting old Final Fantasy things and also Inuyasha, but this was when I was young and silly. Really young and silly. But One Piece has stuck with me for over 7 years, and I've been collecting small figures in moderate amounts from the beginning, so I don't see myself wanting to stop anytime soon. I get very, very attached to everything. So I haven't sold those old FF and Inuyasha figures either. I only have about 5-10 of each in total, though.

Most of my stuff used to come from trips to anime stores during vacations in other countries, so there's also those sentiments. I can remember where I found each one, and remember how I saw each of them displayed in those stores the first time my eye caught them. w The layouts of the stores are still fresh in my mind.

There are a few things I want to sell at the moment, so I'm keeping them completely out of my sight cause otherwise I might develop visual attachment. LOL

I know, there are some figures that are more expensive. But that's why I'm rooting for Banpresto. Even if sometimes their figures end up not being as good as the prototypes, at least I know they have the potential to make really accurate sculpts, and are willing to sell for less. Most of the GLMs were really high quality for their price, though. If given the choice between one POP and three-four GLM figures, I'd take the GLM figures. Even Shanks. LOL.

You're right about the accessories though, those are fun. But materials-wise little guns and caps and birds definitely don't cost more than a few cents, probably. I'm aware you like your POPs and don't seem to have much faith in Banpresto, so you probably feel like they're worth it. But my opinion is that they're not worth it. 20 bucks extra for a detachable hat? =w=

Ace's face is rarely sculpted accurately, but it's your opinion also that the Marineford Ace's face is ugly. I don't think it's that bad, it definitely resembles Oda's more recent Ace artwork where he has a larger forehead, prominent hairline, and more streamlined jaw. It's far better than the POP's completely different facial structure. I do agree that Kuji Ace's pectorals are a little large, but it's much, much better than the yellowed, wrinkly sunken in pectorals of the POP. Whew. LOL

Not really. Hachi means bee. Online translators usually go for the simplest translation, and don't take into account the difference between hiragana and katakana. They're not very intelligent. You'll find this kind of thing happens all the time with proper nouns. If the engine can translate it, it will. It doesn't know Hachi's a name.

Besides, the more you read colloquial Japanese, the more you'll see random words put into katakana for no apparent reason. Technically, it's like italicizing a word in English. But, especially online, you'll see people do it to be cute or weird–kinda like how we use liek and teh.

Yeah, I agree. The translators aren't very intelligent at all. However, sometimes the translators will actually just romanize a katakana word instead of translating it. i.e. ハチ would have become 'hachi' instead of 'bee'.

And in colloquial Japanese, using katakana is sometimes also a function of emphasis, too. Yeah, italics, I guess. Not necessarily shouting, but sometimes so. I'm no expert in Japanese, though, so there're probably nuances I'm not yet aware of. If you read the OP tankobon, though, you'll see the same kind of katakana usage.
