Having a news thread will only work if only a mod or something was the only person allowed to post in the thread, and it remained locked. We'd still respond to the news announcements thread in the same manner as this thread currently.

Why? Because the news thread will turn into the same thing, if you think about it.

people fangasm and talk about it for 3-5 pages
pictures get posted of said news
some people rejoice, other people complain for 3-5 pages
repeatHow about instead, we make this type of rule? It's obvious that people aren't going to wade through 10 pages of a back-and-forth discussion. Please ask if there was any news recently made in the last few pages. If there was something, whoever can answer, please do. And if you're able to, provide a link to the post. I think that could be win-win.

Here's an example, without links.
"Hey, so I haven't been to this thread since Wednesday, and like 15 pages passed. What happened?"
- Banpresto's Super DX Ace was announced, and sort of priced wholesale; auction sites priced it around $15-20
- ReDDragon listed some WCF sets for the year 2011 (page 435 or so)
- Arei was able to find 11 other members who wanted in on the really chibi figures
- Panson works Royal 7 Warlords Bobbleheads were announced, with a picture, 2 pages ago.

As for a news thread, IF there was one, it should be where only certain users are allowed to post, though seeing as there are non-mod users also posting news, that plan wouldn't work =/
But yeah, I think the "bitching at people for asking if theres new news/pictures posted" should be suspended for this thread (though it really hasn't been happening here), because theres always those pages and pages of fangasming then complaining then arguing, so I think everyone reserves the right to ask "What the hell are you talking about?" and whoever has the news/info can post it. Basically what Ichnob said XD
ALSO, whoever is in charge of the next thread (someone should make it who is ACTIVE near daily and keeps up with the news), can add all news and information to the top post. Like what it is, release date (if any), and links to pre-ordering (if any).
Like POP release dates/orders can go there, the list of WCF release, MBH releases, etc etc.
But just put upcoming releases there, also include a link to the wikia where people can go back and search for the already released merchandise themselves.

i also think another thread is not needed. ^.^ if we'd make a "news" thread where only a mod is able to post .. other people couldn't post news when they found some. this would make things more complicated. i'm with ichnob on this one, his idea is the best, really.

Updating the first post would be kind of cool, as well. For Collectibles IV (which is coming really soon x_x ), the opening poster could try to edit the OP with the current trends/topics.
Try being the key word, since not everyone is able to be on AP every single day.

As for the panson bobble heads, I might snag Doflamingo, the rest are =/ I've already got the ace/mihawk/dofla panson straps on pre-order.

That's very true. And would make stuff so much easier. You know, if no one else does it, I think I could take a crack at the first version of this, which would be the 4th thread. I'd only be gone for a couple of weekends for conventions.

I like this idea a lot. If someone makes a new thread, they can reserve the first few posts for news, release dates, and pre-order information, like in the Marketplace and Red-Flag sellers threads. That way, we can chat about the releases without having to worry about news getting lost due to the speed in which this thread moves. I also like the idea of a News thread too, but I truly do think people will just take the discussion there as well as here. However:

We definitely need a way to keep track of the release information, stuff gets lost too easily here–it's somewhat overwhelming to come back to the thread only to realize there are now anywhere between 5 to 15 new pages of discussion to try and sort through. XD
I think either idea is a viable option and it would be a great help to the collecting community. :happy:

Has anyone had any experience with Playasia? I ordered from there before
and nothing has ever happened, but this time one of my orders Is taking for ever to get here,
they usually say It takes about 5-11 days, but It's already been 14. I'm starting to get worried,
I wonder If customs has It? but this Is the first time ever something that I ordered was in customs
from playasia.How does one contact customs? Is it even possible? My older sister said that
Customs can hold your item up to 1 month, Is that true?I would really like some help, thank you. :3

I haven't had problems with Play-Asia, but I rarely order from them. Depending on where you live determines which customs office you have to call. Just email Play-Asia first to see what the status is on the shipping, I don't know if you got a shipping notice or not.
It's possible that when you ordered it, it could've gotten placed on backorder. Also, are you counting weekend days as well? If so, that's about 3 days you can knock-off your wait time. If you didn't, then yeah, get in contact with them first.

@kyoushirowolf: I haven't had problems with play asia either though I still haven't received my Zoro but it hasn't been too long. I wouldn't start worrying untill it has been months. Though I think if it's for your peace of mind you should do what Ichnob said and contact them.

I guess Washington's customs are strict or something?…
I got a shipping notice, and I waited for my item to arrive, but Its been 14 days since It shipped. I hope Its not lost, It cost me $50...

The first order I made with them was shipped on April 1st (roughly 15 workdays ago), did not get here yet, though.

No real such thing in Japanese figure releases. Different sources/vendors get it at different dates. But usually batched within a couple days of each other. All releases always state early/mid/late whatever month it's released. I'm guessing we all should be using the new v.4 thread.
