Finally saw the first 2 episodes, i really enjoyed it. Way more death and killing than i expected
Star Wars Universe - Resurrection F

And stormtroopers are still the worst shots in the galaxy.

1 of them like shot a wookie and injured it. Thats the only shot on target they've had. I lol'ed at how that trooper was hanging on to that pole thingy when he got thrown off the bridge, asks the commander " first time seeing a Jedi?" and he gets kicked off to his death.
-
a bunch of stormtroopers was firing at C-3PO, and they ALLL missed. Now thats just unrealistic.

And par for the stormtrooper course.
-
anyone read the comics in the star wars humble bundle? are they any good?
-
I wonder if we'll see any of these characters in the new Star wars movies, and given how close to the original 3 this is set, i wonder where these lot were during those events?
-
the premise of the newest episode "Breaking ranks" sounds horrible. Well, I guess they can't be all great like "Rise of old masters"

And these blast points, too accurate for Sandpeople. Only Imperial Stormtroopers are so precise.
-
The be fair, Obi Wan came up on first generation clones, not the later ones 30 years later.
Also, eventually it reached a point where the troopers stopped trying as hard to train their replacements.

I wonder if, while he was making his through the Death Star, he thought, "Sheesh. 'The fuck happened to these guys?"
-
At least when its Luke and Leia present, you can attribute something ot unconscious use of the force slightly jolting their blasters or something. Not so much when they miss everyone else.

It's easier to just attribute it to the stormtroopers not wanting to actually kill the target especially where Luke was concerned.

So, the first movie is called "Star Wars - The Force Awakens"
Hehe, that rhymes in german: "Star Wars - Die Macht erwacht"

Teaser Trailer is up.
Another classic series I know only because of general media. One of these days I need to do a Star Wars marathon…
-
I see a lot of people throwing shit at that lightsaber. Don't understand what's so confusing and bad about it.
-
I guess it's the audacity to change the apperance of an icon. I survived Jar Jar B. so what..
Another thing, anyone reckognised who narrated the trailer? The older actors? If yes, wich part?
-
Some say Cumberbatch narrated the trailer and others say it is Adam Driver.
-
Ira funky to der people talk about the impacticality or something lifted straight from real life sword design and also give something like Darth Mails double saber a pass.
-
It is so refreshing to see the Star Wars universe presented in a new way. The camera following the Sith, his stance as he draws his saber, and the sound of the saber … very well done.

Santoryu for the win.
Just wondering what needs to be cut in this scene."and the light…."
dramatic pose
"TAAAATAAAAAATATATATTATATATATATTA...."
It never gets old. -

Haha, people complained about the lightsaber?
Mostly I just see people complaining that they were somehow expecting more out of a teaser.
-
I got just what i expected. Some short scenes that don't really tell us anything. So i'm cool.
The lightsaber looked nice. And it does just as much sense as a normal lightsaber does. -
-
I don't see the problem with the new lightsaber. It now has a hilt with a guard…. What's the problem?
I guess you could say the old design was iconic, but this is clearly a Sith Saber. It could easily end up being that this Sith has a special Saber much like Maul had his double-ended one, and Dooku had his slanted hilt one.
Otherwise, very good for a teaser. I got to adequately see what the look they're going for is as well as the X-Wing and the Falcon, so I'm happy.
-
A regular lightsaber is less likely to cut your own wrist off by accident.
A crossguard doesn't make a whole lot of sense either considering that the blades more or less lock together.
-
^Muuuuuuuch safer than Maul's double saber that will gutt you while you're executing a simple overhead swing.
-
I thought it was a great teaser. Not giving away anything from the plot, considering we are still a year away. The saber looked cool and I'm sure when needed he can just turn that off, so stop complaining about him cutting his wrists etc. xD And people complaining about a black stormtrooper are dumb. First, I'm sure they are probably not clones, and if yes then not all of them and Boyegas character also could have just been in disguise.^^ I'm hyped!
-
Yeah… the clones had an accelerated lifespan, that's how they were able to grow them so quickly. This was outright stated in Episode 2.
That's why George Lucas replaced Boba Fett's voice in Empire and Jedi with the guy who played Jango, but didn't bother to do it with the Storm Troopers in the OT. The explanation is that, at that point, all the clones died off and they now just recruit people like any other military.
I'm gonna ASSUME that's why some people would object to a black Stormtrooper, because that explanation is the only explanation that lets me hold onto all my faith in humanity.
-
When does the movie take place again ? I'm surprised to see stormtroopers, black or white.
I agree that the crossguards doesn't look really useful. But I hardly see Abrams adding such a feature for nothing. It's probably way cooler than it seems.
It's been awhile since I've seen a Star Wars, but I remember clearly the good guys dressing as Stormtroopers at some point.
Maybe this guy is the main character -

Just check some comments under the teaser.
Some real life swordsmiths seem to have decided to comment and explain how our Sith in question would cut his own fingers with that kind of hilt. Gotta love people.

I'm guessing there's a good reason why the sword looks like that. There are plenty of different styles.
That laser hilt is far from useless.

-
Yeah because of the accelerated lifespan of the clones and the fact that the Empire was in charge, I wouldn't be surprised if they opened up training facilities for regular people to join the ranks for people to bring down the Rebels.

Look at those tweet pics I posted at the top of the page.
You can now abandon your faith.
-
At work… Images blocked.... looked at them on phone... got sad....
-
fuck yes!! I LOVE troopers and sooo glad that they're still around.
-
The X-Wings flying along the water was my favorite shot in the trailer. To be honest, I've always enjoyed the more military, space fleet vs. space fleet side of the franchise than the Jedi/Force parts (probably why I had the most fun reading the X-Wing books back in the day).
-
Wth is wrong with people? Leia herself stated at the Deathstar prison that the Empire uses recruts. This is a fact since the 70s!!!
-
Not…sure what to think.
It looks like Abrams might be giving it the action-movie makeover like he did with Star Trek, but...I guess Star Wars already is kind of action-y?
As far as the Crossguard Lightsaber, I don't have a problem with it on a conceptual, but the way it's designed it shouldn't work that way since the metal part sticks out.
Also, the R2-ball unit looks dumb.

They ain't true star wars geeks like us yer know. Its up to us to put these newbs in their place.
I totally dig that new Sith light-saber. Leave it to them to come up with something new and crazy, kinda like that spinning dual-bladed saber the Inquisitor has in SW:Rebels. Jedi light-sabers are boring as fuck, except for Mace Windu's cuz he's a bad-ass with a purple one

Not if they used the Force.
That could actually be Luke, there.
-
idk about everyone else but I love that broad lightsaber look
-
I don't see anything wrong with the new lightsaber. A little variety is nice.
There's an international trailer too:

As cool as the trailer is, its a fanmade trailer.
-
Yeah. Some things seemed off so I googled it. For starters, the light part of lightsabers looks different.

See how the lightsaber kinda looks like fire and there is red lightning erupting from it if you look at it in slow motion. Maybe that sith built his saber too strong by using some other crystals or whatever and the hilt sabers are like exhaust pipes, lol. No but seriously that thing also makes sense to not get yourself sliced by your oponent, by having them simply slide down the saber with theirs like we have seen in previous movies before.^^
-
I wonder if he can also use it as a boomerang. It's already hard enough to catch a normal lightsaber on his way back
-
Don't worry, when they throw their sabers and then get it back, they perfectly guide it with force into their hands.^^
-
I'm guessing there's a good reason why the sword looks like that. There are plenty of different styles.
That laser hilt is far from useless.
Well, it gives the heroes an easy way of instantly destroying his weapon; lock blades, slide your saber down to the horisontal blade, and voila, you've now cut a diagonal slash through the hilt. destroyed the weapon, and propably ruined your opponents hand. All directly facilitated by the sabers design.
So from the heroes persective, very useful.I think the sword looks very silly, but other than that, the teaser is so low on content that I don't have any real feelings either way. Its cool to see an unmasked black stormtrooper, but otherwise, this just…re-established that star wars exists.
