FUCK YEAH Now with canonicity.
! So when does Thrawn fight Revan's ghost?
If at first you don't succeed…try try again.
!
of course was spectacular, as all the Clone Wars and Rebels trailers are. Funny how there seems to be more Battle Droids in it than Stormtroopers, though. I never actually read the stuff involving him but seeing him was very bone-chilling. Love Kanan's new look, while Ezra gets the Hanamichi Sakuragi haircut. And I guess it's gonna be a bit more minor, but I loved seeing Wedge Antilles make an appearance.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Pretty much the only big absence from this show are Cad Bane and Boba Fett. It's kind of funny how bounty hunters haven't really been in this series at all. Maybe the Empire is just giving the Rebels everything they've got before turning toward scum.
Going by Sabine's artwork, I think they've crossed paths at some point.
!
I heard there was gonna be a new Rogue One trailer at Celebration, but was that false?
@Kaido:

there was one but they didn't show it.
Star Wars….nothing but STAR WARS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Its funny, the least interesting thing about the trailer is that last-second fanservice shot. Looks fine, and surprisingly different (despite going down the episode IV nostalgia road AGAIN); after TFA I'm keeping my expectations tempered, but the fact that there isn't a single lightsaber in sight, the concept of the Jedi-Mecca planet, and that we know they can't do a Death Star trench run, gets me slightly more hopeful.
It does look pretty Guardians of the Galaxyish…. but done well! I am hyped for it now!
I like the style of this film so far. Star Wars is pretty well liked for its dreamlike and adventurous tone, but it's nice to get a glimpse into the gritty, no Force-frills side of the war. The Umbara arc from the Clone Wars series comes to mind and I hope Rogue One's as good as that was.
Trailer looked good, but for some reason Felicity Jones has this boring look on her face throughout all the material I have seen so far. It's probably just me, but she seems so uncharismatic. I hope it's different in the movie, when we'll get to see much more of her scenes.
I get that too. I'd definitely like to see a little more swagger or attitude from her.
I hope Thrawn does his bullshit "looks at a piece of art and determines the physiology and psychology of a given race" thing at least three times.

Considering how much he relied on sleight-of-hand tricks, I always thought that Thrawn was acting like he had that ability rather than he really could do it.
Anybody reading the Darth Vader comics by Marvel?
I just caught up, reminded me how much I hate getting attached to characters who don't appear later in the movies, it's clone wars all over again
! Aphra, Triple-Zero and Bee Tee won't survive this :(
The comic in general had some good ideas with decent execution, how Vader found out that Luke is son and who exactly gave him is body after Mustafar is something I never even considered.
Watched the Rebels Season 3 premiere. It was great, and possibly the biggest-scale episode we've seen yet. My only complaint would be that Kanan's side story didn't seem to balance extremely well with the rest of the episode, and the unexpectedly quick resolution of a certain plot point from last season was…a little weird, though I guess I shouldn't assume it's out of the picture for good
! By it I mean the Sith Holocron and Kanan giving it to Bendu

Next episode
! seems to be the one where Maul and Ezra fuse two Holocrons, so it doesn't seem like it'll be gone long.
Predictions going in to this review (aside from obvious murder/rape gags and digs at George Lucas)
Twenty minutes in and Plinkett's focusing less on Episode VII but the current state of Star Wars today and yet even more talk about the prequels, including analysis of this theory on the Prequels.
Saw Force Awakens by chance yesterday thought it was okay.
Rebels S3E2
! Hype for Obi-Wan possibly coming into the show! Though I do hope Maul fights Vader before he ultimately meets his end.
52 minutes before getting into episode 7 proper. Can't tell if Red Letter Media just didn't have enough material/disgust of episode 7 to make the episode an epic, or if they just wanted to rebuttal some of the love for the Prequels that has come out since making the original reviews.

! nah, Maul against Vader would be kinda shallow and lazy, in a sort of bad fan fiction way. These characters really don't have any sort of history together, for Maul everything is and always was about Obi-Wan, that's where the characters motivation mostly comes from, aside from his hatred for the emperor for being discarded and murdering his family.
I would honestly prefer no Vader at all this season, he's a villain who's menacing and reputable enough, he's done his part, resolving the Vader and Ahsoka plotline was really the only thing that needed to be done before episode IV. Season 3 should focus exclusively on developing Thrawn as the big bad of the season and possibly redeeming Agent Kallus.
Also Maul dying against Obi-Wan would just be neat in a sense that things would come full circle.
My wife and I are watching the original trilogy. I don't think I've ever actually watched them all the way through, or at least not with my full attention. I only remember as a kid I saw this one scene in Jabba's palace from the third film that really put me off from watching the rest (which was changed quite a bit in the re-edited version, I've noticed watching it now):

You're probably right, but I'm pretty sure the Emperor and Vader were Maul's top targets before he discovered the other thing, just like Dooku was in the Clone Wars. But given what we know now any kind of Maul vs. Vader fight would take a lot to look natural.

There was this Darth Maul comic called Sons of Dathomir where Maul interacted with Dooku for a while, and he really didn't care about him that much personally. Sure he wanted to kill him, but if I remember right there wasn't any sort personal animosity towards the new disciple, just a general attitude of "if I kill this guy it'll hurt that asshole emperor's plans". If he's still as ambitious about taking the emperor down as he was during the clone wars show, he'll have to think about Vader eventually (although I'd like to think that with age he's gotten smarter than to flat out assault people way out of his league). Obi-Wan he flat out despises, like everything about him, he's a symbol for everything shitty that happened to him, the cause of his downfall, his good natured personality makes him sick.
though I believe Maul hasn't got lot of potential as a character, if he died back in episode 1 it wouldn't have mattered at all on a larger scale, everything the clone wars show and rebels did to flesh out his character is honestly more of a bonus for what is often considered a wasted character, the writers did the most they could with him, unless snoke turns to be Maul or some stupid shit like that.
Ending his story with Obi-Wan would just be the best possible end from a narrative and thematic angle, a fitting ending for a character who is doomed as being irrelevant. What other option could there be, Maul failing miserably for the third time to enact his revenge against Palpatine, living on some planet doing nothing?
I guess they could try redeeming him maybe, that would be neat. If child murderer Anakin was allowed to, Maul doesn't seem lika a stretch.
HRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGNNNNNNN NNNNNNNNNHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!!!!
Really liking the production values so far.
Dang I got chills watching that. Liked it a lot more than the first trailer, which was still good.
Great trailer.
Btw, what if since it seems as though Mikkelsens character was forced to build the death star, he actually on purpose put in the very crucial flaw into the design which then helped luke destroy it in a new hope, thus making that seemingly dumb decision by the empire actually make sense in retrospect.
I'm actually more excited about this than Episode 8.
Donald Glover cast as Lando.
That is just absolutely perfect. :D
Loved the Clone Wars throwback on Rebels this week…some of it was handled clunkily, but overall it was a sweet blast from the past.
Rogue One could be the best Star Wars movie ever…
I actually preferred extended universe stuff myself more than the movies.
Will there be more spin off movies?
Will there be more spin off movies?
Oh hahahahaha, my young naive padawan. Of course there will be, Han Solo movie already in the works and you can rest assured the one star wars movie a year, whether main line or spin off, will continue for a long time.
^
My dream that'll absolutely never come true is a spin off entirely focused on Palpatine.

I totally approve. Too bad Disney is full of shit.

Well we all agree on who to cast for him right?

Don't know that actor name. But he seems indeed fit to interpret the part of a power-hungry maniac XD
There will be spin off movies, provided Rogue One doesn't crash and burn.
Hopefully Disney has realistic expectations for the movie. The spins offs are fertile ground for new risky ideas, to take chances.

If it focused on Plagueis as well that would be my dream as well.
