Do WANT!
Is there an article about the cabin?
Yep, just read it. What do you want to know about it? I'll only answer this one until my work is all done.
What does it say about the Source?
Wow, is that a food drop explanation?
What does it say about the Source?
There's a lot but I don't have time to read it right now.
It also has translations for all of the hieroglyphics.
Wow, is that a food drop explanation?
I think that was explained in the "The New Man in Charge." Apparently, the food drops were arranged by two DHARMA workers who have been completely in the dark about DHARMA going up in smoke. The actual deliveries are made by automated drone planes that receive launch instructions from the Lamp Post station.
Do they have a large picture of Desmond's Mural? I've been wanting to see a complete photo of it for a while. All I've ever seen are oddly lit composites.

Haven't seen it yet but this thing has over 400 pages so…(and they have every painting that Widmore has).
This thing is packed.
I'll really need some time to go through this, though.
I did read the stuff about the Island, the cork, and all that, however. What specific did you guys want to know?
Yep, just read it. What do you want to know about it? I'll only answer this one until my work is all done.
Who was the guy with the eye in the cabin together with Christian? Who broke the ash circle? Who was the guy who asked for help?
ANYTHING thay may help explain this gigantic loose end.
Who was the guy with the eye in the cabin together with Christian? Who broke the ash circle? Who was the guy who asked for help?
The guy who asked for help is implied to be Smokey. It is said that the ash circle was broken a long time ago and Ben never noticed because he never even met Jacob.
I'm not even sure who the guy was for sure but I believe it was Mikhail.
It's not outright stated on those but I can take a picture of it for you later.
I'm pretty sure the whole point of the cabin was to show that Ben was being manipulated by the MiB.
Definitely going to get the book. I originally had it on preorder for August, but the date was changed. Then I got an email saying the ship date was this week, and it just so happens I'm low on money and had to cancel the order. But some time this or next month, definitely.
Any other news about the Terry and Michael show?
Well, I'm now marathoning the series. I picked up season 1 because I found it at a good price at Half Price Books and opted to finally give it a shot based on reviews here… as opposed to what I've heard about it elsewhere (It never answers its questions, its too convoluted, etc.) and knowing that, well, it IS a finished series and it DOES answer most of it.
About 6 episodes into the first season, I went ahead and ordered the rest of it.
That was... 2 weeks ago? And I just finished... season 3 last night. Yeesh. "Marathoning" is right. Not much time to really gestate or contemplate the mysteries, but it flows together better too. Pros and cons to seeing a series as it comes out, and when its done. Very different experiences.
This thread doesn't have any activity, and I won't check it again till I'm done for fear of spoilers (I already knew a couple too many things going in) but I'd thought I'd drop the note and mention a couple of my favorite moments so far.
! *Locke is awesome. Shame I knew about him being in a wheelchair before I started, that would have been a crazy reveal. Course thats like an episode 3 reveal, so not too bad. HOW he ended up in the wheelchair later tho… whoo.
*Learning Hurley was a millionaire... some time after he owed Walt like 70,000 in Backgammon. He's good for it!
*Sawyer is a lot more likeable than I'd initially thought he'd be.
*Charlie was one of my favorites early on, though I had a weird dissonance with Lord of the Rings associations.
*Boon's death rather surprised me, wasn't expecting that.
*Shannon's death surprised me even more!
*god, it sucked to be a new character in season 2. Like... all of them died! Apparently in several cases this was because of actors being actors rather than advance planning though. Lame. Mr. Echo was awesome though. And it gave a shock factor in that really it meant, anyone could die at any time.
*I guessed that Locke's dad was the same man as Sawyer's target... but it still surprised me when it turned out to be true. And how it went from there.
*Loved the season 3 episode that focused on the background characters who turned out to be jewel thieves... and were there all along!
*Hurley's car saving the day!
*Season 3 finale surprised me when they turned the flashback concept on its head... and turned it into a flashforward instead. Real curious to see how that'll go in season 4.
I like the flashbacks more than the actual island mystery stuff, thats the real meat and potatoes of it all. Really one of the things that impresses me the most is how tightly plotted it is. A throwaway line here or there, or a background extra doing something pays of many episodes later… consistently.
Rather wish I HAD been following this show when it was airing, but
A) I was never home in time for it and
B) I got completely false impressions about what it was from everyone that talked about it. No one, not once, mentioned the backstory flashback stuff to me, they always talked about the mysteries, and I got the impression it was another X-Files, that would run for forever and never answer anything. I had no idea it was such a character drama.
Loving it though. At this rate I should be done before Christmas. Curious to see how the second half of it all goes... and the apparently much hated finale.
^
i love the finale, it's one of my favorite episodes.
Anways, got my computer back now (not using phone anymore) so I should be able to post more on the book.
The Lost finale is my favourite episode of a TV show ever.
I think that most of the people who didn't like the finale had either unrealistic expectations or didn't even watch the show at all.
Or were expecting a 44 minute Ozymandias style speech that explains everything point by point?
Well, that's good to know.
What'd we tell you Robby?
A wise decision you have made indeed.
Robby, you're one of the few people who liked Exposé. It was 100% filler, but it was absolutely fantastic filler.
The reason that episode exists is because Nikki and Paulo got so much backlash for existing, being completely useless and not being related to the main story that the writers decided to spend an entire episode on them where it's revealed the two knew much more than they let on.
There's a ton of nods towards the fanbase in the episode, but you need to know about the backstory of the episode to get them.
It's one of my favourite episodes.
Yeah, I liked Exposé too. It's a nice breath of fresh air during the thick of the drama and Nikki and Paolo turned about to be pretty fun. I wish they would do a real Exposé series. :p
@RobbyBevard:
Or were expecting a 44 minute Ozymandias style speech that explains everything point by point?
The internet Robby.
I blame the goddamn internet.
If you've liked the series SO far (including the not so great Season 2), you will be MORE than satisfied with the resolution and reveals.
And if you ever got an X-Files vibe from hearsay due to the talk about "teh mysteries"… well shit, you need to dissassociate yourself from those ppl XD
After rewatching it all in a row over a span of a week, I changed my mind about Season 2.
Season 4 is definitely the worst season (completely filler).
3 > 1 > 6 > 4 = 2 > 5
3 had the best episodes
1 was the most consistent
6 was overall pretty meh, but had some amazing episodes
4 and 2 both had their problems, but are still great because of some certain episodes
5 is lame
WHAT?!
I love the Dharma episodes.
Kate episodes always suck so I discount those anyways.
Season 14 had the fewest episodes and didn't feel like most of the events happened. Desmond episodes are always good so it doesn't matter what season they are in to me. A majority of season 4 sucks though (of course, by saying that, I mean in comparison to other episodes).
I think Season 1 is the best but don't tell that to Darlton.
Top 3 episodes for me:
Pilot
The End
Through the Looking Glass
The Dharma episode were a constant stream of nothing happening until Faraday showed up. The only episodes of season 5 I like are LaFleur, Some Like it Hoth and The Incident. The other episodes either moved at a ridiculous pace (pre-Bentham) or incredibly slow pace (post-LaFleur). And not the good kind of slow. Everyone was just sitting in Sawyer's house waiting for something to do.
Season 4 has The Constant, Shape of Things to Come, Cabin Fever and No Place Like Home as stand-out episodes and Confirmed Dead and Meet Kevin Johnson as high-tier episodes. Most other episodes also had a nice pace and things were always interesting.
Five was an epic season to me.
But then again… I like change.

.
you should enjoy the finale then allot of the people who didn't were people who claimed it wasn't a character driven story and was just about the mysteries but if you were in it for the characters the finale wont disappoint

I'll take it.

I can't believe Fox canceled this! The ratings weren't terrible, and it's their own damn fault they decided to cut the season apart to show baseball! … Wait, I'm being told I jumped the gun a little. I'll just copy this and save it for 4 years from now.
Hahahaha how true. But I'll take it too.
Fox hasn't been that network for a long while. Dollhouse and Fringe are testament to that. I mean Dollhouse was renewed even after the ratings dipped beneath Smallville reruns.
I firmly believe Alcatraz will bomb just because people get dumber with the minute and can't understand anything that is even remotely serialised. And then Fox has all reason to cancel a show.
The only way for a serialised show to survive these days on broadcast TV is by being on The CW (yay vampire diaries!). Or by being Chuck and having the most loyal fanbase in television history while being aired on a network that nobody watches.
FOX just announced they're moving Fringe to the Friday 9pm deathslot. They're not gonna advertise it, pre-empt it for everything, then complain it gets bad ratings and can it.
It was already the lowest rated show on the network while getting a lot of advertising and being in a great timeslot (post-House/AI/Bones). The Friday night deathslot is the only logical option left and we should be glad it's not getting canned right away. Hell, if we're lucky it might get another half a season next year to wrap things up.
Cripes. Was I really at the end of season 3 only 10 days ago? Wow. I hauled ass through the rest of the series. (Though taking Thanksgiving off helped with that…) Season 6 was pretty amazing. Given that the smoke monster and the numbers were the two most outstanding plot points I was quite surprised to see them get the entire season dedicated to them.
Just finished it up a couple minutes ago. Fantastic all around. I'm aware that some of the actors dropped out in the middle of the show for various reasons, and that mucked with it some. I'll be wikipedia-ing soon to cover some of that territory and learn more. No fault of the writers there... and they STILL managed to address most of it by the end.
Some weaknesses here and there, and a couple unanswered questions/dropped threads, but nothing aggravating. Fantastic series all around, I really wish I had watched it as it ran so things could perculate and build and speculate some more and have a couple less spoilers (I didn't have THAT many thankfully), but marathoning it was quite the experience too.
I'm sure that folks who have watched the whole thing a couple times or saw it weekly and sat on it and had a chance to think might have more unanswered questions to pick at, but the little stuff doesn't bother me and I think all the big ones got touched upon. SOme of them at nearly the very last minute, but they still got dealt with.
The two biggies for me were and Walt's appearing and dissapearing, which I assumed would be covered by the time travel, but I guess "he's special" is all the explanation needed. (I assume he was written out largely because a 10 year old ages too fast for a show that was covering only three months for the first 4 seasons?)
And also, why the MiB was stuck as Locke at the end? The point was brought up but never explained, I don't think.
Anyway. Good stuff, I enjoyed it a lot. ANd now... bonus features, extra disks, and commentaries! Several MORE weeks of content now! Nice.
Though this does lead to ONE OTHER question...
Why did Cloverfield and Star Trek suck with these guys involved?

Ah, I hate to say it Robby, but yes, it truly was an awesome experience watching it week to week and waiting on pins and needles to see what would happen next. And, of course, those agonizingly long season breaks. But hey, glad you enjoyed the show.

MiB was stuck as Locke after Jacob died. Just the rules of their game/the island I guess. I'm still trying to figure out why he chose Locke.

Ive been on both ends of that spectrum for some shows/book series/manga. There's ups and downs to both, especially with continuity heavy series, but it does seem like it would have been a better one to perculate on.

Ah yeah, that timing makes sense. That works. And I think he chose Locke because initially that gave him a lot of room to fool people with.
I suppose my biggest dissapointment is Walt. He had a ton of build up that didn't amount to much… but again I suppose the actor aging in real time when the first 4 years of show only covered 3 months had a lot to do with that.
I'm still trying to figure out why he chose Locke.
Locke is a gigantic tool and his form would mess with the candidates the most.
@RobbyBevard:

I don't think the main writers for Lost were involved in those two projects.
I could be wrong thou.
Also…
Those movies were awesome imo xD
But I do know they're not everyone's cup o' tea.
Picked up the season 1 soundtrack because well, I wanted it. One recurring theme in particular that I liked that came up throughout the series and I took note of it pretty much every time it played.
Turns out the track is called "Win One for the Reaper."
igiJHTrLqqg
It also gets heavily, heavily reprized in the "Life and Death" and "Oceanic 815" tracks. Hrm.
I knew it was the SAD theme, but still… "Win One for the Reaper?" A lot of the track titles are kind of silly, actually. "Thinking Clairly, Lock'd out again, Crocadile Locke, Booneral, Monsters are such Innnnteresting People, Charlie Hangs Around"... someone had a horrible awesome sense of humor.
Michael Giaccino is a god.
Also check out Hollywood and Vines. One of my favourites together with Locke'd Out Again, Oceanic 815 and Life and Death

Michael Giacchino love his terrible puns, and it's not LOST exclusive as well. On his soundtrack for Star Trek there's a track called "Hangar Management". Guy is a modern day composing genius, but man his puns are painful.
xD
Silly Puns ftw
J5wOHIi7xCU
I love how they put Win One for The Reaper into the song. Next to the song that plays during the final moments of The Walkabout, this is my favorite theme in the show.
Holy fuck…
That's the first time an OST theme had me reaching for the pause button before I broke down.
x.x jesus...
This is probably really late, but I finished this just recently. I have to say that I really enjoyed the series. My favorite overall season has to be Season 3. Season 2 was least favorite because the suspense behind the hatch took a bit too long.
If it's any OST that stuck with me, it was "Catch a Falling Star" at the end of "Sundown" in Season 6. Even though the whole evil buildup was overpowered by Wigmoore, it was my favorite episode ending.
KfsPM_-M1N0
It sent a deep chill down my spine. Epic. My second favorite has to be the one that plays at the end of "The End".
Is there any channel airing this in syndication in America? I really would like to watch some of the earlier episodes.

Thanks for telling me, but luckily I found the episodes streaming on Netflix with no ads! Sweet! I am currently on episode 3 and plan on watching at least 1 episode a day, I have really enjoyed it!
All I can say is…wow.
@Yuugi's:

Well…that was boring.
