EDIT: On second thought maybe i ruined it. -
I'm confused, why are people calling him Oars?
-
Because it's what's written on his ship.

50 pages fuck me. What the hell happened? Oh yeah, that's right, ODA TOOK OFF THE GLOVES AND SHOWED US WHAT WE'VE BEEN WAITING MORE THAN A DECADE FOR!
This is incredible. I mean, I knew it was coming, but it didn't hit me until this chapter where it began with a roar and just closed on a fucking A-Bomb. The man has so many surprises up his sleeves, he's pulling out shit NO one could predict, I mean, if anyone in here called Oars' descendant being a part of WB's crew, you are a God.
Might I add, Oda adding that romanization? THANK YOU JEBUS!!!!!!! Finally an end to the FUCKING IDIOTS WHO THOUGHT IT COULD POSSIBLY BY ANY STRETCH OF THE IMAGINATION BE 'Oz'. YOU STUPID MOTHERFUCKERS!
Sorry, that's 2 years of built-up nerd angst being released.
What I love and what keeps me up late at night ticking away at a keyboard on a message board about a comic book, is how Marco's design perfectly fits a Phoenix. In particular his eyes. His eyes, way back when we first saw them, make perfect goddamn sense as the stereotypical sleepy-eyed phoenix, a point he drove into our skulls with the full transformation.
I'm still amazed that we're seeing the 'first' punches thrown here. I won't even bother to venture a guess as to whether he actually intends to draw the war into a standard X VS Y scenario or how far he wants to take it, but either way, we're just seeing the players do some very basic 'moves' considering their level, AND THEY DWARF MOST OF WHAT WE'VE SEEN IN THE SERIES THUS FAR.
Incredible.
He really had the scale of his battles planned from the start, didn't he? I mean, just take a few panels from the past two weeks alone and it's like, "Oh….THAT'S why Luffy is a rookie...."
What has my member even more rock solid is the story he's building that's going on behind the scenes. You know the title of 542 meant big shit. And it's amazing that he's not only managing this war to please the action lovers, but he's got what appears to be some intense plot work going on in the background that we don't even know about yet.
The story is at a point where I envy the tank readers. Come December there're in for one helluva read in a single sitting.

LOL @ the irony
….....

I was going to say something, but yea, nice one Zik, it was funny.

I personally find that reading entire volumes at once doesn't give room for readers to digest the information they have just read. This manga is already mind-blowing just following it weekly. If readers want to know what's going on, they'll have to read each chapter slowly and carefully, but that takes a lot of patience and perseverance.
And I actually think he has much much more awesome in store for the future. Especially when Luffy's bounty is ready to hit a billion, and even more so for when he hits 3 billion and becomes Pirate King. Unless the Pirate King was actually worth around 3 trillion…

It figures a Hawkeye fanboy would post things like this.
_> Just cos i crop Mihawk in my avatar it doesnt make me his fanboy.

Luffy's bounty is 300,000,000. He is 1/3 of the way to a billion :wassat:

Yeah, I'm thinking that Luffy will fight and defeat an admiral to get that bounty.

If he ever beats an admiral, there would be no reason to rise his bounty. They are after all the most powerful force of the bounty system's creator. Who will hunt him down then? Yonkous? Just text them or something.

Some weakling bounty hunter could slip poison into his food or kill/capture him in his sleep. There's a good reason to increase the bounty because you can capture people in different ways, more than just a mano-a-mano brawl.

As someone who read tanks up to volume 24, I think there's plenty of time to relax and enjoy. What you say might be true for Japanese casual readers that asorb a page's text in 2.7 seconds and move to the next page, but OP's fans are such because they know what Oda puts into the comic.
I will admit it doesn't allow for much room to be creative and as a weekly reader I simply can never, ever, go back to being a tank reader, but there are certain sections of the story that even now I can admit would be really awesome to read in one sitting.

The bounties aren't set for the admirals to hunt down. An admiral won't receive the bounty, because he already works for the marine force that's supposed to catch the felons. The bounties are to taunt normal people and bounty hunters.
