hahaha! It's funny as hell that Naruto is no option.
for me it's One Piece. that's fanboyish. but I owe that series too much fun and cool experiences.
oh and there are too few manga to choose.

@ Malinex Terrik: isn't that place bitorrents? can't do bittorents i'm against them
@ Deltron 3030: Honestly, I can never find a copy of any of the volumes.
You all seriously need to read Devilman. It's a fucking masterpiece.
I spent more time than I wanted to giving it a shot; read the first two volumes. Personally, I cannot stand the artwork. Half the time their facial expressions were a million miles away from the things they were saying, and the rest of the time they looked suspicious or creepy. Dialogue was horrible if you ask me, bouncing from over the top split personalities to "OMG you being mean makes me horny! Punch someone in the face! IM SO HORNY!!"
I mean the girl accepts the guy's complete 180 in character over night as if it were nothing to be afraid of – dude goes from pacifist to bloodthirsty -- and then next thing I know they are in bed together talking about her see-through shift? Huh? As if the basic plot in the beginning wasn't completely ridiculous -- "My dad merged with a demon and then went crazy and killed himself! Let's merge too! Maybe we will be better than my dad, even though he was a great guy, and then we can go kill all the other demons!! Where to sign up? In my super-convenient and secret basement that I know all about even though I have never been there. What? Yeah, once you go in you cannot come back out. What? Oh, well we will lure the super strong demons I know all about to come in, because they can teleport. What? Yeah, I host raves in my super-convenient and secret basement all the time! What? No big deal if we brutally murder all these people on the slim chance we successfully merge with a demon and still maintain our conciousness. What? Oh, you merge by throwing out all reason, so lets get drunk and high, dance with naked people, and then start killing people. It might not work though. Probably wont, in fact. Oh well. What? When we have demonic powers we can teleport out. I think. Durr." -- , the "so-called" best friend goes from manipulating the main character to giving up his life under the hopes that this 1/10000000 chance plan will work and they will gain demonic powers, to plotting how he will kill his best friend since, "oops, it didn't work that well".
Should I keep reading....?
^ That's exactly what happened to me. I'll still finish reading the last three volumes when I have time, though.
@ Malinex Terrik: isn't that place bitorrents? can't do bittorents i'm against them
:wassat:Gotlurk is irc no torrents though what I'm really puzzled about is why you're against bittorrent.

I would sig this if it weren't so long. as far as assessments go, it amuses me.
Sucker for Shonen, so vote for One Piece.

Bitorrent crashed my last computer and i'm talking about a nice top of the line computer. I seem to allways get the file that has viruses within them, so that' why I look for either direct downloads or view stuff online.

Eventhough I know I can't change your opinion here's a protip never download a torrent from any one site or one that you don't feel to good about, and if there's no comments verifying that the torrent contains a virus.
Lol i read a similar thread like this…it was pretty funny because everyone was saying Berserk and one guy there was like only 2 guys on One Piece but whats so bad about Shonen its the manga genre out there, i really don't get why so many pplz think that. Most Shonen manga are said to be the best.
strangely enough, i'm not a big fan of the manga nausicaa for the only reason that the drawings are just too bloody difficult to understand.
also, my favorites are one piece and berserk.
All you babies need to go out and read Devilman.
RIGHT THE FUCK NOW.
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
HELL YESSSS
also i'd say its a tie between berserk and hxh

I was all over the place for this thing,
Don't get how this IRC thing works (and probably never will),
so a big Thank you for sharing the download-link.
Rave Master and Inuyasha…...
I'll admit I've only read the first three books (not much caring for adopting a 30+ volume series, particularly because they're like 15 bucks a volume)… but Beserk seems like it's violent for violence's sake a lot.
If Muira did One Piece, we'd have spent fifty chapters with Arlong slicing Bellemere's corpse into sashimi, for no other reason than to show more violence.
Well it is dark.

Congratulations, you have no idea what Berserk is about, or virtually anything about it all.
Rave Master and Inuyasha…...
Riddle: What do sour milk and you have in common?
One Piece. The story is extremely well laid out. The characters have life to them, they have personality. THey're also easy to relate to.
The story isn't all drama, or action/adventure, or comedy. It's all meshed together in a way which shows life for what it is with a fantastic twist.
Then in second place, for me, I would have to say Wallflower. Morbid/spontaneous humor is win.
Bounty1Berry, I think you should definitely try reading litte further.
You might change your opinion. It won't stop being hyper violent but… there's little more hearth to it. When I began to read Berserk many years ago I skipped those first 3 volumes altogether thanks couple anonymous tips. Had I not I might not had never got into it either.
@Deltron:

I will read this in a couple days time and I will give my honest opinion on it.
Death Note and Slam Dunk do not deserve to be on that list, and a ton of stuff is missing.
Best Manga = One Piece. I just can't get enough of it I read it over and over again. I think that if I was one of those people who goes into a comma for 20 years and suddenly comes out the first thing I would do is read all the One piece chapters.
tough one to say.
Obviously i have an affinity towards One Piece.
But Berserk kicks major ass.
As well as Jojo's Bizarre adventure
and where is Hokuto no Ken?! It may not be the most well written manga… but it was an EXTREAMLY influential series.
and Kenshiro kicks ass
@Skull:

I know, right?? The best selling manga in Japan doesn't need to be on the list of best manga. What a smart guy you are!

Well if Muira did OP the series will be at around chapter 200. It won't be weekly but bi-monthly. Since Miura is known for taking breaks due to his really detailed art. Characters would stay dead and pirates would rape every girl they come across. And no Bellemere wouldn't be violently killed for many chapters. Probably raped for many chapters. Poor Nami I can imagine her flashback where the Arlong Pirates run a train on her and her sister.
With that said Berserk and OP are my top 2. They're complete opposites from each other. But both have one thing in common. They're both fuck awesome.

This is the second pointlessly detailed explanation of cartoon rape I've run into in two days on this forum.
Berserk is fucking violent and graphic because it takes place during the Dark Ages. You'd never guess what shit went on during the Dark Ages. And if you add superhumans, horrible abominations of nature, and magic into the mix, guess what happens? For a series with that level of larger-than-life content, it's brutally honest about things…
Oddly enough, Berserk is probably the only piece of fiction where I can tolerate content to the level of graphic depictions of rape, and violence that's TAHT graphic, THAT often, because it's all in context. When your series has such good writing that you manage to get away with depicting brutal rape, you're the winner of all manga ever.

Berserk kind of grabs from whatever period of europe it wants really.
Dark Ages, Later Middle Ages, Renaissance.
Berserk and One Piece for me. After reading though every chapter of Berserk in 3 days, I did not know whether or not to place it above or below OP. Berserk has alot of human drama like backstabbing, love, absolute horror(will this guy/girl live or die?) and epic settings of collateral damage. Its setting is based of many things read in history books.
One Piece has a huge world filled with variety and sects that all somehow connect together. Pirates with numerous positions, civilians and culture that vary depending on the island, the World Government and its underdogs, and a missing century that is connected ancient writings to ancient weapons. Same as Berserk to a more cartoony extent, OP has a decent level of epic collateral damage as well. I enjoyed Both series.

I would put OP above Berserk right now. OP has been consistently amazing and there's only week wait between chapters. Hell some of the recent arcs have gotten better in quality. With Berserk your attention starts to wane once you get caught up and realize that your going to wait 3-4 months for the next issue just to see Griffith move 12 feet closer to Ganishka. This fight has been going on for like 3 years now. To be fair, Miiura did give us a intermission with Guts and co on the boat. But hurry the hell up. Kill him already and let's get to Elfheim.

If selling would really indicate the greatness of sth, Titanic would officially be called the greatest movie ever created…
What a smart guy you are!
One Piece reigns!!!
For me, it would be One Piece and JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
In ANN they say something about one called Monster, but it looks boring (so I never gonna read it)
I think its JJA, since its so original all the time (and it have awesome art and stuff).
Of course One Piece is Numero Uno

^this. right here. I completely understand what you're saying.
I have never once questioned the content of Berserk as being there for exploitative purposes or simply "gore and rape for the sake of gore and rape".
It is most definitely all in context.
I mean… how else should demons and abominations of man's evil act?
The more into history I read the less Berserk seems over the top.
Yes you bet your ass there were nobles and even multiple POPES that were violent sexual deviants. Miura hasn't even showed the clergy being that depraved yet, Berserk is lighter then reality lol.
And the demons and shit he comes up with aren't even as fully disturbing as the crap you see in some renaissance art of hell, Hieronymus Bosch ladies and gentlemen.
Yeah for Berserk I don't really mind the raping or the violence. It's context fits the series. We are talking about a bunch of demons here and the time period it takes place in. We also got to bare in mind this is a Sienen so it's going to have alot more mature themes to it. Since it's intended audience is alot older than the Shonen fanbase.
I thought the modern view of Middle Ages is that it wasn't that bad back then, and we should abandon the term "Dark Ages" altogether. Or something like that. But I won't argue, I prefer living in current day Europe. By far.
neither does one piece but it's there.
Why are you on a one piece Forum if you hate one piece
Plus One piece is one of the most popular and best selling series of all time
it does not sound like the guy hates One Piece.
^ What he said my reasons for saying OP shouldn't be on the poll have nothing to do with disliking it which I don't.
One Piece is my favorite manga but Jojo's Bizarre Adventure is the best series in my book. Its lasted for over 20 years and continues to release more and more chapters with SBR. They have inspired the creation of characters in other entertainment like video games (German Soldier in part 2 inspired the Model for the US Soldier in Street Fight) THe whole series is filled to the brim with Rock N Roll references, including the Title and Main Character(s). The concept of stands is an ever intriguing concept and I dont see its kind of power anywhere else, or at least before its creation. Its original, its action-packed, its funny, and its obviously durable. Oh, and I dont just mean Stardust Crusaders (part 3) I mean all of the parts, + Steel Ball Run which continues today.

soooooo….. it's more something like sense this is a one piece Fourm and where in the other anime section one piece shouldn't be included because it's too obvious a choice. If not I still don't understand

Oh my god .
So this is a poll on the greatest manga of all time.
What's the greatest manga of all time, yet you say it isn't a popularity contest…
@Master:

Choperman pretty much (unknowingly) summed up my reasons for why I don't think it should be on the list. It's too obvious of a choice, it would be like if Naruto was on the list and no one voted for it…it's basically a predictable answer.
