Wow, the potential of this is gonna be high, Morita has lot's of connections with talented animators, the last thing Morita directed was Bokurano.

With us having Episode of Luffy coming up I thought of an interesting trajectory we can take this animation study. How many times have key scenarios (for example: Luffy getting the hat, Nami's "Help me…") have been reanimated in the series media? This occurred to me when I watch One Piece AMVs and I began to notice that fans like to use stuff from the beginning of the series but they have more recent animation.

I want to say that the scene with Luffy giving Nami his hat has been the most-often reanimated bit. Off the top of my head there's the original episode by Hisada, the recent special by Nakatani, a flashback in the Little East Blue filler by Tate, the flashback by Kawamura in the Weatheria episode before the timeskip, and one by Tomita for the PSP game that's coming out soon. So that's five times in total so far. It really gets around.

Not only that, I think the scene with Shanks giving Luffy the Hat has been re-animated quite a lot as well, But I really don't remember how many times.

Yeah, that scene was like a staple of the early movies, so that and the Nami hat scene are probably the most often reanimated scenes in the franchise.

I rewatched chunks of the original OVA recently. The whole thing is so massively 90s.

Even if it was, it wouldn't be that unbelievable that he went through Mariejois to get to the New World for the events of Z.
