Eagle is one of the best manga around that nobody knows about. Fantastic art, story, drama, mystery… and its all about politics. The first asian president fo the united states. Quite good.

The point is that politics aren't inherently boring and there can be good manga based on them.
Not a manga, but Parks and Recreation instantly comes to mind when it comes to politics being interesting.
^ Not to mention The West Wing. I'd gladly read their next manga even if it was about politics. Bakuman has proven at lest to me that the Ohbata duo can cover the most trivial of topics and still make it interesting.

I may have lost Chuck this year, but I still have Parks and Clone Wars to watch.
I wonder if Ohba and Obata (that's their names right?) enjoy the idea of a hot chick having completely fallen for the main character, and telling him that she love him immensely, but NO MATTER WHAT making sure that the manga ends with the main character still a virgin notwithstanding the huge amounts of opportunities said character had to lose his virginity.

I guess I could see it, Takahama does indeed put a lot of research and preparation into his work. Seeing how it's a manga about law, it's probably also well-thought and organized. In that way, one could get an Oda-vibe. But Eiji's pure audacity in his shounen power is also very Oda too XD

I swear every single time I see that photo of Shimabukuro Eiji I can't help chortling. The picture was taken some years ago, I suppose, so his appearance has most likely changed a bit, but he still seems quite young for a decently successful WSJ mangaka. Wonder how much that affects his ideas and storytelling in general. Does anyone know exactly how old is he?
Not that I'd be accusing him of naiveté per se, but some gripes I have with Toriko as a better than average adventure-exploring-fighting type of manga do seem to stem from the author not having enough courage or experience to pull off certain kinds of more profound developments. Sometimes he's rushing things when he clearly shouldn't and then, in turn, prolonging other arcs and deviating from the main plotline way more often than he should. Storyteller's personal insecurity? Who knows.

The last three or four volumes have been so stylish. They just look different from the rest - and this one looks rather Shojo. I like it, but the blue background and the strong colours aren't really their style.

It is Eijis editor (the other hattori) and then it is Hiramarus editor (Yosaku). Both badly drawn though.
