In the big picture Tao Pai Pai is no more important than Napa, Ginyu or Dabura. I think that it was important because he was the first one who defeated Goku in a straight up fight, where his life was at stake (Jackie Chun's was in the safe enviroment of the tournament, and every defeat before that was by outwitting him)

! Ok,I'm gonna give them some serious credit.
! From that, one can not claim that Goku did any better than Gohan. It's just that Mr.Catears owned Gohan swiftly, but took his sweet time throughly humiliating Goku.
! Infact,Gohan even managed to cause him some slight discomfort with Uncle Nelson, which is more than can be said for SSJ3 Goku here.

So, I finished my translation of the Toriyama interview from the issue of V-Jump I won't actually possess for another few hours.

. . .
Eeeehhh. . .
Do I have to shut the fuck up now, later. . .when?
! Yeah, pleasantly surprised with the beat down.
! I could've sweared in the trailer he was going toe to toe against Birusu. . .Also, really interesting interview with Toriyama.
Man, he's such an oblivious guy and, yet, he's such a likable man. He's like always laughing.
-
Either he's senile, trolling, or the weird stuff he draws is just another "Tuesday" for him.
How do you forget Super Saiyan 3?
-
I liked Toriyama's explanation for why Goku's new form looks the way it does - it really works well with the series, given that the plainest-looking forms (Gohan's end-of-series upgrade, Freeza's final form, Kid Buu) tend to be the most dangerous (not going to get into the whole "strength of Buu's forms" argument; just that he did blow up the Earth without hesitation, whereas Buu's other forms could be convinced to hold off on doing that for a while). Still, at this point, I don't know if Toriyama's just playing up his lack of memory in regards to the series, or if he really is that forgetful.
-
well buu works in that regard in every form. He's a pink blob monster.
I remember some of my friends dropping DBZ for a couple of episodes because of what Buu looked like.
-
Don't know if it's been brought up here yet but i guess Viz are doing 3-in-1 releases of Dragon Ball now, using the Japanese kanzenban covers. So whilst the content itself won't be anything fancy, it'll still have those sweet covers. I'd be tempted but… man, I'd rather just get the Viz Big volumes.
-
Ok I haven't been following this thread and have just seen the new movie clip. Who is this cat guy suppose to be and why is he so strong? I can't take his appearance seriously lol he reminds me of Pink Panther or some other cartoon cat.

Aren't those pretty much the same thing?
I have the whole series anyway so it doesn't matter to me, but still.

God of destruction. With an egyptian motif.

Birusu (name pun unknown right now, although I'm leaning towards 'Beers') is a Destruction God (Hakaishin) who governs a set group of worlds.
! His job is to destroy worlds so new ones can be created. Of course, Birusu is also something of a petulant child, even worse so than Freeza. Thirty-nine years before the film an Oracle Fish told Birusu that he would someday fight a Super Saiyan God. Learning that a 'Super Saiyan' named Son Gokuu defeated Freeza, Birusu decides to pay him a visit when he learns that he is hanging out with his old friend, Kaiou. Kaiou and Birusu go way back as video game pals. One day long ago Birusu lost to Kaiou in a racing game, so Birusu blew up Kaiou's planet. Kaiou widdled a chunk of the debris down into a smaller planet as a result.
Voiced by Yamadera Kou'ichi (Kaji from Evangelion, Spike from Cowboy Bebop, and Myuu from Pocket Monsters), Birusu is a pretty fun character.
-
Is that accounting for the fact that his little planet was blown up by Cell, or that Bojack was imprisoned inside of it?
-
Wow, that's great. So Bils is an incredibly sore loser. Between stuff like that and drunk Gohan asking someone to shoot him, this movie seems like it'll have some hilarious moments that I'd love to see Team Fourstar tackle
And upon further thinking, I am now really curious about what Goku would be like if he got drunk

Hope you're patient. Its going to take them two or three years just to get through Cell and movies 6-8… and they've said they may stop there without doing Buu at all, because they don't totally want to be pegged down to doing just this for the next 10 years.
I am now really curious about what Goku would be like if he got drunk
Similar to this.
Ugh, what were the early movies thinking.
-
Yeah, I know. But it still seems like its begging for an abridged version based on what I've seen and heard. Honestly, I feel like it might even be cool if they didn't always do the movies in sequence (though I understand why they do) in order to give us the funniest stuff they can. But yeah, I'm looking forward to watching this movie once an english version is released
-
@Yuugi's:

! So basicly every time Kaio even moderately befriends someone, they end up blowing up his planet.
! Sisifyan hero right there. In the big picture Tao Pai Pai is no more important than Napa, Ginyu or Dabura. I liked Napa because he looked different then every other Saiyan we ever see, cannon or not. Unless you count the female one in the Bardock special.
-
Mr.Catdude is already an incomparably better villain than all of the other movie villains put together and multiplied by ten,by the virtue of actually having that atleast vaguely resembles a personality.
But I'm sure the fandom of the youtube comments variety will have trouble accepting him cause he "looks ridiculous!" and isn't "cool"(like Broly, bleargh).
-

Nobody ever mentions that near as I can tell, so Toriyama probably forgot and nobody pointed it out or remembered. Considering the general light-hearted tone (and how much of the story was written by Toriyama) Bills really works as a character.
Also, it's looking like the new characters are named…after cat food. Bills and Whis is it.
EDIT: By the way, Toriyama actually wrote fight scenes for all the characters (and they were storyboarded) but the scenes weren't animated because the movie would've wound up being two hours long, rather than eighty-five minutes. Hopefully Toei adds them for the Blu-ray.

What scenes were those?
Is there any word on that?

Fights scenes, near as I can tell. They parred the fighting down to keep the movie shorter for what reason I'm not sure. I assume they didn't want to spread the budget over so many cuts.
-

! More humiliation scenes, of course. There's no other option, after all. The Z fighters stands absolutely no chance against Bills.
-
Are they any other enemies in the movie? Or is everybody just fighting catguy? Does anybody win a fight?
-

! Nope.
! It's just Bills vs the Z Fighters, all of them get their asses handed to them. Even Goku loses the final fight. -
Cripes sake folks, USE SPOILER TAGS.
I know its just a DBZ movie, but STILL.
-
@RobbyBevard:

I have the whole series anyway so it doesn't matter to me, but still.
The VizBig editions are high quality paper, with some but not all colour pages included. 3-in-1 editions are the same content, but with the lowest quality paper viz use in any of their collections, and without anything in the way of bonuses like colour and stuff. I think they're supposed to be a cheap alternative, but the Viz big ones aren't exactly expensive. Maybe they're being phased out or something.
-
! Nope.
! It's just Bills vs the Z Fighters, all of them get their asses handed to them. Even Goku loses the final fight.! …What, really? Well, color me intrigued... I would ask how this movie does wrap up then, but I suppose seeing as how I'm going to Japan in less than two weeks anyway, I might as well just go see the movie for myself.

Just in case someone wants to know:
! Gokuu absorbs Birusu's final attack and runs out of Ki. Birusu confronts everyone and tells them he's going to blow up the planet, but he ran out of Ki himself, despite beating Gokuu.

! Then Uisu simply knocks Bills out and leaves with him, saying that Bills will wake up in three years.
-
! Why he will wake up in three years? Toriyama is trying to say there will be another movie??? Because why u throw all this information is theres no relation with the real Dragon Ball story before Uub fight.
-

! I think it's interesting that Birusu's final attack (and the whole scene) is apparently mirroring Freeza's big ball of energy that killed Bardock and destroyed Planet Vegeta, but Goku, albeit losing, stops Earth from having the same fate.
! Btw, Birusu forces Goku to say "i give up", so his "eh, i'm out of ki' could be seen as if he's just satisfied enough to stop right there. -

-

! Ah, my mistake. I've got the impression that Uisu is the God of Destruction from another dimension, who came to this one to train Bills. Still, he's stronger than Bills, so just who the hell is he then?
-

My favorite in BBZ is cell saga and Majinbo saga. I wonder how old is this anime already. :))

Usually don't comment on this particular thread but,I'm almost positive that was intentional.

Hey guys, just a quick heads up. According to a user named "Dizrythmia" at Daizex, at Adelaide Comic Con in Australia, Chris Sabat announced "Funimation have just licensed 66 more episodes of Kai".
Boo arc time folks.
-
Now you can enjoy a terrible cartoon compiled together from a good cartoon's footage based on an iffy story arc in an otherwise good comic!
Well, assuming this news is true. Sixty-six episodes from a ninety-two episode arc means little is being cut.
-
Also on the "Chris Sabat announced the Buu saga" I dont think its true. No other sources confirm it.

Wow… that's a lot of bile for the best paced animated version of the Z portion of the DragonBall Story...
Seriously, after watching the Namek arc of Kai, I'll never go back to Z.... The pacing of DBZ makes it nigh unwatchable at times... It desperately needed something like Kai.

Cutting out the fat from DBZ can be nothing but good, especially for the Boo arc (I don't want to see Goku and Vegeta's epic rematch interrupted by Goten and Trunks stopping to take a leak on a rock, please). Regardless, the upside of an amazing new English dub more than counteracts any downsides Kai has otherwise.

Odd, considering Oz Comic Con Adelaide only happened about a Week ago, which is where this brand new info came from, yet looking back, my post is the first one mentioning it…
Are.... are you a time traveler?...

No. She (She's a girl) meant that Funimation had licensed these Internationally Exclusive episodes. We dont know if Funimation had them from the beggining or just bought them but they DID announce it just now.
Also, again, proof plz?

I'm aware Demon Rin is a girl? (What that has to do with anything?…)
They weren't internationally exclusive, they weren't even planned to be aired in Japan. It says so in the link I posted.
And the proof is ALSO in the link I posted.
Edit: If you guys are just talking about the dubbing part, my bad.
