@metteminne:
in dutch he was called burdock so i think it used to be burdock
The Dutch translation was terrible. Sangoku and Sangohan? The new Kanzenban releases are translated much better.
-
Just watched Kai #69.
My God Wakamoto, what the Hell happened to your old Imperfect Cell voice? Who do you think you're playing, Gôki?

Agreed.
At some points he sounds the same, but at some point he sound really really high pitched . (Especially that "Chii" sound he makes)
Altough it makes sense as Toriyama said that Cell should have a more high pitched voice in his first form, its still very weird -
I need to get back into watching kai, I stopped at episode 2 how sad is that?

It sounded to me like Wakamoto was saying 'Biiiiiiiiiii!!' actually…

dragon ball is so much better then dragon ball z

Toriyama said that during the developing of the Budokai Tenkaichi game series. And so Wakamoto voiced Imperfect Cell with a bit higher pitch in his voice in Sparking Meteor AKA tenkaichi 3 in US/EU (his semi-perfect and perfect cell voice remained the same in that game). It seems this has also transferred over to Kai.
And only just noticed: The opening has been updated with images of Cell.

Aint that the truth, to me dragonball is like one piece where it's adventurous, funny and action packed
While DBZ is like Bleach: a shitload of action with little to no plot.

Is this from a V-JUMP issue or something? I've never heard of this, so an exact source woule be nice.

It was on the last page of chapter 57 the Jump edition TV comics.

I don't really agree. The plot in Dragon Ball has always been very simple. I even think the Z part had overall more complex plot than the first part of the manga. You really can't say that the Pilaf arc or the tournament arc had more complex plot than the Frieza or Cell's arc.
I really like the Z part, it lacks the adventure, but it provided us with a lot of interesting character developments especially in the Cell arc which is my favourite Dragon Ball arc.

agree , still i think that he has a point , db was more like op . fun and adventure combined .while dbz was more around the fighting. still compairing it to bleach is a sin
-
I don't know how much complexity there necessarily is with Cell. For the most part all of it was based on a bizarre bunch of time paradoxes with a cherry on top. Outside character developments and evolution, DB's concepts remained simple from start to finish.

When I said:

I was also talking about the Z part. So, I agree with you.

-
See, people like to go "Well, I like DB Better than DBZ" etc.
They're the same series. I don't distingish, it's all "Dragon Ball".
In Japan, It's Dragon Ball from Volume 1 to 42 (34), Pilaf to Boo. No Z
-
I wonder if this old stupid argument would work any different if the anime had arbitrarily decided to start the "Z" portion after the Frieza saga? Or if they had done it right after the first Piccollo, and jumped to Z right when Goku grew up, in mid volume 14 instead of volume 17, and started the "series" off with everyone reuniting and the tournament?
-
Give it 5 years, and you'll have people fighting over how much better One Piece was than One Piece New World.
-
It doesn't matter if it's all Dragonball - a lot of people know that, but Dragonball, then "Dragonball Z" is how it's most widely known to the masses and english speaking audience. They're just lazy ways for people to distinguish. Would I like lots of people to call it all Dragonball just to be more accurate? that'd be nice, but I don't really mind..
I mean, I know it's all Dragonball, but even I use the 'Z' add-on.
It's just easier to narrow down which part you're speaking of.It's a bit like saying "I just wish eveyone would call Jackie Chan, Chan Kong-sang"
-
While DBZ is like Bleach.
That's horseshit. No lie. DBZ is one of the greatest manga/animes of all time. The manga/Kai version is better though than the original DBZ anime due to the filler.

O.K O.K Z is more like Yu Yu Hakusho, WASHA!!

this is fun
You could be arrested for that, sir
would you rather have me say it's the same as naruto? an besides bleach had a pretty dang good plot for a short while so it's not full dissrespect. Now I could of said DBZ is like Inuyasha now that's an arrestable defence.

This is amazing coming from the guy that believes aizen is a decent villian.

To tell you the truth. I really didn't care about your comparision with Bleach. I was above all answering to the "no plot" part. Because I don'tthink we can say the plot in early dragon ball was more elaborate than the plot in Dragon ball Z.

That might be one of your best comment so far. Keep them up.

Ok DBZ had some plot to it but it wasn't that great honestly I would put the Piccolo Daimou arc above most of the other arcs in dragonball followed by the android arc all the way up to imperfect cell showing up and the first half of the majin buu arc before vegeta turned his soul over to babidi.
-

It's just easier to narrow down which part you're speaking of.But why do you need to speak of a "part" or compare them in the first place? It's all the same one series.

If you say "Do you remember that episode with Kami in Dragonball Z ?" that eliminates Dragonball. It just makes things more simpler.
It's like carrying a table and a chair through a doorway. Putting one of them down makes it simpler to get the other one through.Either way, It's most known to English speaking masses as 'Dragonball,' then 'Dragonball Z'.
Just because that's not factually accurate, doesn't mean you can click your fingers and it'll stop.Like I said, would I like it if "everyone recognised that technically there is no Z" ?
That'd be nice, but it's not going to happen, and I don't really mind whether it does or doesn't. -
Oh just found that clip … totally forgot about the German version of DBZ lol
afBENV1V4kI
btw I think there should be a "Kai" version of the regular Dragon Ball…
-

You obviously left out the Red Ribbon arc and King Piccolo arc.
-
Oh yeah … Red Ribbon Arc and King Piccolo Arc, those were gold!

That were those time the story was actually based around funny stuff and than the fighting^^
Ohh yeah i miss those times.
-

I was just trying to prove that the "Z" part didn't have shitty plot compared to the beginning of the manga, I wasn't trying to prove that the "Z" part has the best plots.
I don't know why, but when I read this thread, I have the feeling that a great number of people in this thread are idealising the first part of Dragon Ball and are pretty harsh with the second part.
-
For all the people who enjoy the Kai dub:
New episodes starting September 6!

I agree, the Buu saga was very entertaining.
-
have any dragon ball z kai games been annouced to come out to america?
-
The Kai RPG has been out for quite a while.
-
Oh yeah … Red Ribbon Arc and King Piccolo Arc, those were gold!
I really like the Red Ribbon arc, too bad Goku was the only guy from the main cast really useful. Unfortunately Kulilin, Yamcha and Roshi didn't play an important role in this arc.
@Tamaki:
have any dragon ball z kai games been annouced to come out to america?
What would be the difference between a DBZ kai game and a DBZ game?
-
It is fantastic anime show. I like it very much..
-

Yeah that was annoying I agree … well I can live that Roshi doesn't play a bigger role, he's the master of those three and steps back for the youth. But Kuririn and Yamcha ... Yamcha was pretty early the guy who was made fun of and always loses ... main character fodder if you want to call him that way ^^

i dont know , my dad used to read it before we even heard about the anime and he stopped around taopaipai and said:"man , i quit , they now will focus to much on the fighting and much less on the fun" and i still agree with him
still all off it was great
-
that's cool that your dad at least read it, even if it was up to that part.
My dad wouldn't even read it
-

I can't remember who the kickboxer was. Was he the guy that was fighting to win money in order to feed his family?
-

Hey, I want a cookie. :(
To be fair, you asked what was wrong with the site. The RRA flashback is only part of the nonsense.
