The next new Nakama? Part 2

Perona was defeated by Usopp, but she brought Franky, Zoro, Sanji and Luffy to their knees. It's not that she was weaker than Usopp (or stronger than the others) so much as Usopp was her nemesis, her antithesis.

Argueably Oda was talking about physical strenght and not combat abilities when he made that comment about Usopp being the weakest. (I belive the context was that Usopp would be the most like a real human and that readers should identify with him or something like that. I could be wrong though.) If that is the case then Perona/Pelona is as long as she isn't using her astral body most likely weaker then Usopp, while Robin and Nami can still smack ppl around by physically hitting them.

In short: if they were to armwrestle Perona/Pelona would come in last and Usopp second to last… and Zoro would probably win.

I would personally love to see Perona join if it can be done - however I'm hesitant because her ability is a bit too powerful. I mean, nobody in the whole SH crew stands a chance against her except for Usopp, which is weird.

That said, I can totally see her has a short-term ally, like Hancock.

I'd rather not think so…It seems like she would at least help Zoro get to SA but if she joins, it would be hard to get around her abilities I mean it's even more broken than Hancock's at least we saw that there was a way to counter Hancock's abilities. Perona wouldn't join she still wants to go back to Moria's ship. The next likely member to join is Hancock. As for ace even if they save him he would still go back to WB since he is loyal to him.

We still don't know whether haki will help because it seem that Kuma used his devil fruit power against her.

I would like it, if some of the others bring a few people with them. Not that i would like them as full crewmembers, but something like Vivi was. And i hope, perona isn't one of them.

Everybody keeps saying "for now", but imo I don't think you can say that. If anybody joins, then it is always in the future. This is just my opinion, but I don't think you can predict who will join judging by current probability. If people thought like this, then joinings like Robin wouldn't be quite as unexpected.

Don't know why so many of you are against Hancock joining, she has to be near luffy or she dies. Since we know Oda doesn't kill important chars, we know the answer, if she joins or not. And imagine all the possible jokes with Brook, Sanji and the turning into stone history. To the ones that say Luffy needs a slut, stfu this isn't Odas style. And for the ones they say she is to strong, it's time that the SH's get the respect they deserve. Something that hurts my soul is that they are underdetimated very often when they've contact with other pirates or chars, remember the Jaya arc. With an former Shichibukai in their crew; guess when it comes out she'll loose her title; they'll gain more respect. Another point for her is she could teach the others Haki and i guess she has more knowledge about the OP-world then Robin.

I still stick to my idea that someone from enies lobby will end up joining, a cleaning boy who cleans the halls and cells of impel down(He's really good at cleaning!), hates his job and found out that the Marine life was not as exciting as he hoped it would be; he wanted adventure, fame, fortune! Luffy comes along an stirs things up a bit, he now wants to be a pirate, out there on the open sea adventures waiting! He'll be the person to "swab the poop deck" so to speak.

I thought Robin was too strong to join back in Arabasta, and that her devil fruit power was way too broken. But it wasn't and she fits in just fine with the Straw Hats. She was probably stronger than Zoro and Sanji when she first encounters them anyway.

Same thing happened with Franky. He was insanely strong at the start of the Water Seven arc, but the Straw Hats surpass him at the end of it. How do we know the same thing isn't going to happen with Hancock?

To say she's too strong isn't much of an argument. Members like Zoro, Sanji and Franky will likely be at the level of a Warlord at the end of this arc anyway.

^ This is OP, anything can happen. A death will be reserved for an important character, and when they die an even bigger shit storm will happen. Saying this is One Piece does not mean no one will die. Someone will have to die to move the story along straight to the end.

I don't agree about a cleaning boy joining the crew, but I don't think Boa will join either. Her past wasn't fully revealed and it didn't make many of us BAWWW. ATM its a "weak" past. Until we see what she actually went through then its a "Strong" past.

Right now, I honestly think no one will join the crew. Luffy won't look for someone new until he gets his crew together.

Usopp had a weak past…and I seriously doubt that Hancock's and Ace's death will stir up the One Piece world (except maybe Luffy and WB). From the looks of things, WB will be that person. And yes I know that Hancock's and Ace's positions are quite high but I still can't see the aftermath to be that catastropic.

Ace's death will shift the world. I mean you mentioned 2 people who it will affect. WB and Luffy. Nothing will start WB, killing a nakama will enrage him even more and he'll do his best to bring down the WG.

Now what will happen when WB is dead? The title for #1 is up for grabs and not only the Yonkou will be going after it, other pirates will. The pirates will be in battle with each other more than ever before, the WG will not participate, they'll just sit back and let them whipe each other out and I'll assume they'll go after the Revolutionaries next.

In the midst of this chaos the SHs will be the ones who will rise through out the chaos.

She's only shown a part of her past, we may get a new character in the future with an even more messed up past then her and still not join. Hell we may get a member who doesn't show their past until AFTER they join.

Could you please show me where Luffy said that? I'm not doubting you, I just wanna see for myself (about the 10 members). I actually like the idea of a second division, but each SH is very strong compared to a number of filler, none-important division of pirates (well, excluding the leader of the division) so it wouldn't work so good.

I think it's too soon to add another nakama, we just got Brooke. Well, not just got him but yeah w might see another nakama around mid next year, you're right.

Ok Guys we've already seen that the scout dude for Red shanks had a bounty a little under 100 million

This is the arc right before going across the red line. So whats Oda giving us? More islands, and a war. From what I'm judging I think the SH will have to grow into a much bigger fighting power if they want to go anywhere after the redline.

This arc is probably Odas awesome way to bring together a crew that can fight it out after the red line.

Remember people, a henchie for gods sakes is about 100 mil. Thats like Ussops power level. Not to mention each pirate king has tons of them. SH is way behind, but not after this arc. Cause Perona, and HAncock will join ;P

WB is coming whether Ace is executed or not so Ace has served his purpose already in the eyes of the WG. That's why I don't see him dying. It is interesting to see how he would deal with the consequences of being used to destroy WB's crew if Luffy succeeds which I see happening. If WB loses that is.

What you said is one of the effects if the WB loses which is why I prefer that he does. I am actually excited to see what kind of fighters are in Dragon's side, I mean he should have strong subordinates to be able to directly oppose the WG.

And if the SH would remain as a small crew, then in the end Usopp should at least be able to reach a level where he can face of against somewhere around Arlong's level 1 on 1. For the record, I'm not talking about physical abilities.

Yeah,Boa dying out atm. is very unlikely.She has become just to popular around the One Piece readers and a lot of people's love/like her character very much.It would piss off a lot of fan's if Oda just killer her,and i don't see Oda dissapointing his fan's.

I never saw Vivi as a member,never.
She was just to weak to join,and the only reason she went with the SH was for her own interest,freeing her lang,deafeting croc…bla,bla... the rest is known.
But in the other side,Boa is a Shich....,a posseser of the King's Haki,a fucking empress of a whole Haki filled pirate village,comparatively Vivi was only a fodder.And we should not forget that,Boa unlike Vivi,went with Luffy because Luffy wanted it so.Whereas Vivi was with the SH for her land,Boa's only reason to ge there is because of Luffy and to save Ace,which is Luffy's purpose he goes there in the first place.

Even Robin's past can't be compared to this,this was a fucking horror to her,showed by her,crying with so much Pain,that hurt's even the readers.
Her past has great potential for futue story telling,with Doflamingo the owner of this slave shit,as future opponent to beat by her.(to the guy's who are searching a dream of her,it would be by killing Doflamingo and ending this "bussines").

The reason Hancock isn't going to join is because every crewmember that joined was initially shown to be the best at a particular skill that no one else in the crew posessed. The exeption, of course, being Zoro.

Nami - Navigating.
Usopp - Sniping.
Sanji- Cooking.
Chopper - Medicating.
Robin - Deceiving/Knowing.
Franky - Fixing.
Brook - Playing Music.
Margaret - Jack Shit.
Hancock - Jack Shit.

Some were screaming murder when Franky joined, yet most of those "I'll quit if he joined" people are still with us.

Excuse me, spare those of us who are fine with whoever joins some face slaps here. Get used to the idea of Perona or Hancock joining because right now anyone could join. In otherwords can we not have "She won't join BECAUSE..." Its getting SO dull now seeing this. I'm like by now "whatever".

We all know by now the reasons why we think and don't think everyone will join. Its an endless repeating cycle now. ^_-

I'd like to point out the thing everyone's pretty much forgetting - just about every job on a ship is now fulfilled. In reality, we're going to accept now that just MAYBE the last few positions won't be a job filler and may be just "you're a fighter" material.

indeed thgere are no reasons for any one person not to join. I do however think it unlikely for Hancock to leave her island, and sisters, she'll probably be a Vivi-esque character. Marg? also not, though I would have hoped so. next nakama? if there is another one, which there probably is, I'm gonna guess he will join them straight out of a liberated Impel Down, or later on, in fishman island or even the NW. I favour the Impel Down approach. Crocodile for SH's anyone?

The officer of the deck under way has been designated by the commanding officer to be in charge of the ship, including its safe and proper operation. The officer of the deck reports directly to the commanding officer for the safe navigation and general operation of the ship, to the executive officer (and command duty officer if appointed) for carrying out the ship's routine, and to the navigator on sighting navigational landmarks and making course and speed changes.

I believe that Hancock would be someone who could keep the operation of the ship together for Luffy and the others because she has had command of her own ship and people. If the New World is going to be a hard place to survive in then Luffy may need some one to think about keeping things under control for him so that he can think about taking care of fighting their enemies off. Hancock would be good for this type of work because there is no other person within the crew who would understand how keep things going better than her.

He can alter her personality to make it really unique since her back story is already different from any other SH for the most part.

I don't care if she uses a sword ppl need to stop acting like there's a limit on what kind of way you can fight on a crew. She can still have a unique fighting style that doesn't solely rely on her sword. A little martial arts and swordsmanship maybe; Oda can channel his Rurouni Kenshin days and do something badass(you know ad in some specific sword style with some kenpo, maybe a gun, RK had many badass characters).

I would say Nami is a natural at that RobinNami. If Hancock tried to butt in on that there would probably be too much conflict. Besides Hancock strikes me as soneone that wants things to work by themselves without her micromanaging it, while Nami pulls her own share to get the work done as well as shout orders to the others.
