do you like the powerpuff girls
The original one was kickass, yo.
I haven't seen this newfangled animu one.
Thank you, Roz.
Someone should change the thread's title to The General Powerpuff Girls thread, because that's sorta what it's become.
And on that note, my favorite episode has to be Los Dos Mojos, the one where Bubbles thinks she's Mojo. I just like the premise.
I know we are suppose to be ontopic, but I just want to address something to kingsofans.
Using what's in One Piece isn't an excuse, ocean has made it clear if something revealing happens in One Piece even tho it's a One Piece forum we are NOT allowed to use it in our avi/sigs or allowed to post it (separately, at least). So saying your avi/sig is on par with One Piece… doesn't help ya.
Yeah, I really don't like PPGZ. I just can't get into it, I must say I miss the PPG along with Dexter. CN needs to put them back on the air at decent times.
@AWB:

Eh, why not.
Done and done.
this used to be my favorite show
but when it jumped the shark, it didn't fall as hard as Dexter did. At least it was still watchable.
Like many here I grew up on the series. I don't think I saw the final or final 2 seasons of them tho, as I believe I was without cable at the time and/or just never caught it again.
Buuhan, considering I read the rules VERY, VERY carefully, I can safely say that my sig is within the rule boundaries of this forum.
Anyway, I think that's my main problem with PPG. It was too childish I guess. I don't like that sort of stuff. I find PPGZ more mature I guess. Don't know if it's the plot or the way the characters act but it's something I guess. And what are you guys talking about, PPGZ has plenty of action that puts PPG to shame. I can't believe people actually like PPG more because of badly drawn cylinders connecting with ovals O_O
PPG was fun, which is what I care about more than art. The only reason I started reading One Piece, for example, is because I heard that it had a lot of fun stories. Starting out, I thought that the art direction was ugly as sin.
It's not the most omg mature thing ever, but it's cute, lighthearted, and full of action. Plus it's got the added "Watched it when I was little" value going for me.

Yes yes, we get it already.
It's pretty sad PPG and Dexter on CN has been reduced to random segments in Cartoon Cartoon Top 5 which airs basically right after adult swim.
Haha, I see what you did thar. Way to take things out of context Buuhan>.> For the record, I meant the plot and they way they behave not their physical features. Though I guess technically the physical features are more mature too lol.
In retrospect, what you did thar was quite funny XD
Roz, it's not just the art, I just like the plot more and I feel there's something really light hearted and magical about PPGZ too. Meh, forget it. Maybe I'm just being a weeaboo and putting Japan on a high pedestal. But I sincerely like PPGZ more and not because it's from JapanO_O
At least that's what I feel.
I watched the original when I was a kid. I can honestly say I enjoyed it because it was in the same style as Dexter's Lab, which was also airing at that time.
@taboo:

Seconded.
When PPG came back after the end of it's initial run, I still found it to be watchable and decent. Dexter's Lab's fourth season was not.
And also, I don't think I'm gonna watch Z.
I don't have the strength.
It's not bad at allO_O It's really,really good!!!
…
IMO
I remember a hugh monster being sliced in half, and all its guts gushed out and splashed all over Buttercups.
I wouldn't call that childish.
there's blood in the opening scene actually
Yeah, they let a slight amount of blood slide on that show.
I think I can recall a few times where it was there.
The episode Bubblevicious had blood in it as well.
Wow, how the hell can you say PPG was childish? They fucking did a Dragonball Z style fight in an episode! That's more childish than cutesy, magical girl crap?
I also remember, in the episode "The Bare Facts" Bubbles describes Mojo vomiting/loosing guts, and also commenting "I didn't like the guts"
How about the episode where the girls tried new persona's, and Buttercup was totally a Spawn ripoff. I don't see how a child would know about Spawn.
A personal favorite of mine was when the girls needed a babysitter, so they get Mojo. I personally believe that to be one of the funniest ones. They also made a Zelda reference which I thought was really funny. "Stupid fairy! D:"
! I dunno if this counts for anything, but I remember in that episode they used the word "cancer". As in the disease, not the astrological sign like in the one Dexter episode.
The one where everybody kept switching bodies now that was a good episode.
I like the one when the major dreamed that was so handsome and didn't the help of the PPG, the city was made of pickles and all the people had his face, <3 he's so cute.
Also, the one when there was this monkey that act like yoko ono (the one that mojo jojo fell in love)and destroyed the alliance with the other villians
The best episodes are any that focus on FUZZY LUMPKINS
Which are few and far between. I find that odd since he was one of the three main villains.
Mojo Jojo
what a bad villian
who remembers the one where that alien came who almost destroyed the world, like he unfroze wooly mammoths and flooded nuclear reactors and blew up volcanoes and lots of badass shit like that?
The last one I watched was the one where there was this weird fairy living in a giant rose that almost took over the world until the girls realized even the villains were an important part of the city.
My favorite must be the one with Whimsical Willy, and also the one where they had to stop the Major who randomly punched people from his balloon.
The worst villain was that mime
Didn't they beat him by playing a song about how love makes the world roll? <_<
Does anyone remember bleedman art?
I just do and awww :wub:

I don't know, he had his moments. He really needs someone to play off of to really shine though, otherwise he can get sorta boring.
I'm drawing a blank on the badass alien thing. If you could describe what he looked like, maybe I'd remember.
Also I've neglected to mention for a while that your sig is A+++

I had it well before your Hayasaka man-love
And it was the one where there was this big spaceship that they couldn't beat and they got Mojo Jojo to predict its actions but then it came down and looked a lot like Galactus and so Mojo went crazy and beat the shit out of him and he left.
help?
I remember one episode where Buttercup was tricked or misguided or something, then turns around and beats the living shit out of someone…
@Kaimei-Karasuhebi:

… how I wish I didn't remember that episode. Everything was fine, but I found their song pretty unbearable.
Yes but now you've moved up on my good side due to my Hayasaka man-love. And it's really mostly the older one, although I do like them both a great deal.
Alright, looking at Wiki I think I've found the name of the episode but I'm not 100% on this. It's the best fit for the description you gave though. It's episode 46, part of season 4, titled "Forced Kin."

Wasn't that the last produced episode? It wasn't shown in the US. I only saw it because of Youtube.

Oh yeah, she falls in love with the leader of the Gang Green Gang and starts helping them steal stuff, then she finds out they were just using her and she beats the life out of him. Lots of saliva, blood, and teeth.
On the topic of Z: The action was lame. Powerpuff Girls had them kicking, punching, biting, everything! They would pull monsters horns off of them and then stab them with them. Stomp on them until they started vomiting or constantly bleeding. In Z they just use Yoyo's, hammers, and bubble wands in the most non fluid manner. WHen they showed the first promo it actually showed promise but it was SUPER toned down. And what's up with Blossom? Bubbles and Buttercup in Z were close to their original counterparts but Blossom was almost totally different. She was all giggly and otakuish. Into lots of sugar and stuff. Her PPG counterpart was smart, mature, and leader like.
Mojo was hilarious when he was used for comic relief, like the episode all about his day off
That's probably my favorite episode of the show, actually, though I don't remember too many others as I didn't watch it much.
Meet The Beat-alls was brilliant.
@Really:

GET OFF MAH PROPERTAY!!!
The best villain? Lucky Captain Rabbit King.
@Mr.:

Oh, now that makes sense.
Over here it was just "BLITOS", which sounded way off even for a beatles parody.
Anyway, the one where Him takes over the world after the PPG travel through time (they were just playing but began to run so fast they traveled to the future) must be the darkest episode I can remember.
@Kaimei-Karasuhebi:

I hated that episode.
C'mon, Townsville couldn't last for a week? WTF? I would've been like, "FUCK THIS BULLSHIT, I'm taking a goddamn vacation. I'll beat the shit out that Him guy when I get back, a''ight?"
Which brings up another episode I liked, that one where all the girls just decide to take off for day and teach the Townsville citizens how to kill the monster using electrical lines and a fire hose.
^that one was hilarious. They were completely clueless.
Another one I liked was the one where that douchebag scientist creates a bunch of knock-off PPG's after stealing some chemical X.
I still remember his name, Dick Hardly.

Ahh, you're so biased. You're looking for the same things in PPGZ that PPG has to offer. PPGZ is its own show that has different things to offer. Like awesome music, cool plot etc.
And it's pretty dumb not to like it because it's NOT LIKE the original. WHo cares!?! They're not supposed to be compared, you silly goose>
I might give the original a try, but… I'm not expecting too much. How many episodes were made?

Lots.
Like, 80 or so I think.
Yes Roz, that's the one.
I loved The Powerpuff Girls as a kid. I was actually expecting it to be something like Sailor Moon. That's probably why my brother would always make fun of me for watching it. But, I was wrong. This show was surprisingly violent for a cartoon meant for kids.
I honestly don't mind "Z". The music is kind of catchy, too.
I just watched the one where Buttercup went crazy for teeth and decided to beat down the villains for no reason just to get more
GET OFF MAH PROPERTAY!!!
The best villain? Lucky Captain Rabbit King.
Silly Lucky Captain Rabbit King. Lucky Captain Rabbit King Nuggets are for the youth!
Like awesome music, cool plot etc.
Music isn't enough to make a show awesome. And how were the plots "cool" in anyway? It was a Sailor Moon esque "monster/villain of the week" formula.
And it's pretty dumb not to like it because it's NOT LIKE the original. WHo cares!?! They're not supposed to be compared, you silly goose>I wasn't expecting to get the same show in anime form, I was looking to get a good show and that wasn't what I got. And it's not like I'm comparing two completely different series. It's sad because they with the first promo they obviously had something awesome in mind that got watered down in the final product.
