Hey, how about when they cut away to that David Bowie/Mick Jagger music video, played in its entirety! Funny stuff.
Family Guy: Isn't abuse funny?
-
-
If you think THAT'S bad, well, then…
Ladies and Gentlemen, Mr. Conway Twitty!
Wait, so nobody likes the whole Conway Twitty bit they use? Thank fuck. Me and my bro always though it might be some "joke" that only Amaericans get. Good to know that other people think it's a load of bullshit too.
-
The worst use of Conway Twitty was the episode where Peter likes Meg again and it went on for at least 8 minutes.
-
No one I've mentioned it too likes the Conway Twitty cutaways. I mean one would be one thing, but they seem to use those awful long boring cutaways way too often.
-
I see the want to in your eyes is one sweet tune.
-
The last episode was fairly forgettable. Ryan Reynolds being a Hollywood-phoney-homosexual-in-denial "breaking up" with Peter was probably the best part.
American Dad was definitely the better show this week. Though any episode that focuses on Steve's principal tends to be an easy win.
Hey, how about when they cut away to that David Bowie/Mick Jagger music video, played in its entirety! Funny stuff.
That was the first time they used a Conway Twitty-style "joke" since Season 8. They still come out like filler no matter how hard they try to incorporate it into a joke. At least Conway Twitty has not been heard of for the past 2 seasons.
btw, I noticed people here never talk about the cleveland show.
Is the general consensus that we deny its existence?A shame, really, because it's honestly not a bad show and does have some stand-out episodes at times. While I was apprehensive about Cleveland being the star, they have manage to give him more character and a more likeable personality. Cleveland, and his show, evolved pretty well over the past couple seasons.
Perhaps it may be the added dynamic of Cleveland being a stepfather, but I like that the show takes its family values a bit more seriously than the other 2 MacFarland shows.
-
The Cleavland show isn't bad at all, it's just not spectacular. I watched most of the first season and have been tuning in and out this season, but it's alright. American Dad still stands to be the best MacFarlane show, though.
-
Havent watched this show literally since the 1st post in thread was made, episode 100 was the last I saw. Watched the back to the pilot episode tonight and thought it was pretty good. Return of the koolaid man, making fun of the cut aways and a real back to the future feel in the past scenes. Kudos to the writers I guess for a halfway decent episode.
-
Yeah, last week's episode was definitely a high note. Though during the past couple of seasons the "Brian and Stewie Sci-fi Adventures" tend to be more entertaining. Though it is weird that it was only 5 or 6 episodes ago they used a similar plot involving Stewie's Time Machine.
This weeks will probably be chalked up as another misfire. It's yet another attempt to inject more dramatic elements into the series, this time involving yet another unseen relative in the FG universe (this time, Joe's son) return after being presumed KIA during his tour of duty in Iraq United States. The biggest drawback to this episode is that it feels fairly dated, as the Iraq War has winded down in the past year, and U.S. military involvement will be ending very soon. Rubbing noses into the Iraq War would have been better off attempted in previous seasons–some of the dialogue and plot threads suggests it may have been drafted quite some time ago.
There was thankfully a decent dose of humor, and Brian was surprisingly withdrawn from the seemingly controversial elements of the plot (perhaps even he's feels it's grown stale). It also had a good Simpsons reference at the end that fit in rather well.
-
About this week, it wasn't nearly as bad as the abuse episode, but it was still pretty lousy. Just a bunch of phony drama and bashing of the Iraq War, which doesn't offer anything new and, as Mr. Luffy stated, is pretty dated anyway. And why did they keep cutting away from the drama to Peter saying random things: "You know, I have said hi to Carol this whole time," "Man, I can't believe how early I have to go into work tomorrow." I mean…..I just don't get it. It's not even funny. So what, he just talks about other things because he doesn't care? Hilarious.
I'd also like to mention American Dad and how it's starting to get on my nerves. I really don't like how they've turned Roger into a psychopathic killer. And Stan appears to be following the asshole Peter route.

It's about as bad as the best Family Guy episodes as far as I can tell.
Which means they invoke no kind of comedy when I watch them.

@No:

The first few seasons of family guy were pretty funny when the episodes were parodies of various sitcom situations. Ya know, back when Stewie was just an evil genius, Peter was a loveable idiot who tried, Louis was a caring house wife, Meg was actually cared about, Brian was a voice of logic and foil to Peter, and abortion jokes were nonexistent.
I'm not really sure why or how the writers forgot what the show was originally about (or seem to, as the second to last episode was actually decent).
-
What about Chris?
-
What about Chris?
He was… um... big, ignorant and loveable? but still hilarious.
"Way to go dad! Fight the machine!"
"Chris you're 13.... don't talk like that."
-
Really? An entire episode based around Quamire trying to have sex with Meg?
Aside from the fact they were really clear about her turning 18 in the episode… she's had sex before, and Peter and Lois didn't care before, so... what was the point?
-
What disturbs me is that some people still think Family Guy is a ''mature show''
When in reality it's just the opposite.
People still actaully watch show?!

I listened to it while working. That doesn't count as watching, right?

They have shown that they are protective about her during sex. Peter beat up Jimmy Fallon when he deflowered her live on SNL and that one episode where she was in a coma, he was protective about her dating the doctor.
I'm somewhat glad they keep THAT somewhat consistent given how much they bounce around with giving a shit about Meg.

Yeah I agree with this. And I think the main reason for keeping her from Quagmire was mostly due to him being much older and Peter's friend. Even though Peter asked him to not go after her…sigh I am usually annoyed after I watch Quagmire based episodes.
Man the last several episodes have been very unfunny. I think in this one I only smirked at the animator getting poked with a stick.
-

No, he beat up Jimmy Fallon to beat up Jimmy Fallon, THEN looked for the guy that was with Meg, not realizing they were the same guy. Priorities? And the doctor as I recall had a pregnancy scare, (so there was sex… and she was underage at the time now apparently?) and he ran the second that she wasn't?
And then there was the time she got crazy stalkerish about Brian and they blamed Brian?
Then in a later episode when they got a new black friend to replace Cleveland, Peter was worried he was hitting on Lois and spent the entire episode dwelling on that, but at the end of the episode he said he wasn't after Lois at all but "had lots of nasty ass sex with Meg" to which Peter said "Yeah, I don't really care about that."
They haven't been consistent at all.

Oh yeah. I forgot about the little details in all those scenarios.
-
Saw the Clinton episode recently. It was wrong on so many levels.
-
i thought we all agreed to stop watching this. lol
-
This show's still going on? I don't know why, but I thought it had ended already.
Well, I stopped watching at around season 5 so I'm not really up to date.
-
I saw Seth MacFarlane on Conan a week or two ago and I remember him admitting the show hasn't been good for a while… He said it probably should have ended already... IIRC.
-
Well, I think the focus on this episode was to show how some older guys try hooking up with high school girls (or those with similar mentalities) usually after what Quagmire was after, by acting like high-school buddies. Considering it was Quagmire, it's easier to adjust to the creepiness that was this episode. Otherwise, wasn't that memorable.
Though really, what was weirder was 14-year-old Cleveland Jr getting married to a hot 16-year-old Mexican girl, both of whom seemed to genuinely love each other, and stay married at the end of the episode. Sure, they decided to live apart until they were older, but that's not something that can really be brushed aside forever, can it? At any rate, it turned an otherwise well-rounded episode into the best of the night.

Yeah, it's pretty sure they flip-flop about caring about Meg to suit whatever the script calls for, like a lot of things in the show. Seemed kind of weird to see both Louis and Peter care so much, especially Peter after taking $300 just to agree to show up for Meg's surprise party.
-

A couple of months ago he stated that he definitely didn't plan on it going on this long and acknowledges the criticism. He said he'd prefer to just do Family Guy movies every now and then instead of weekly episodes.
-
Well at least Seth McFarlane doesn't have his head completely up his ass.
-
After morbid curiosity, I decided to take a look at this ep and wow this kept bugging me…
Old Quagmire(from seasons 1-3) would never sleep with Meg, why the fuck would Quagmire the penultimate sex god sleep with fucking Meg!
If I was him. I would never even go within an inch near that abomination no matter what the circumstances.I thought Quagmire had better taste. The problem with this ep, is that it just wasn't believable even for Family Guy standards believability(which is loose)
Its too out of character for Quagmire, this ep's plot just doesn't fit him.Now perhaps if Quagmire was desperate, like say lost his way with the ladies I guess I would believe it more.
-
After he slept with clevelands wife all standards just went out the window.
-
This post is deleted!

There was that random scene where he causually asked if Meg was 18 yet, she says no, so he talks to Chris suddenly then cuts him off with an "All Right~" Although my mind is blanking on what episode that is. I feel it's was earlier on. Hasn't he also been shown hiding behind stuff or in closets during sleepovers and her with that girl friend she had for a bit? Or was that just Chris? Quagmire really has no standards though.
-
but why Meg? who isn't in the least attractive. But then again its …. Family Guy.
-
Quagmire's blatantly hit on Meg before. I don't think THAT'S why people are upset, but rather that they would waste an entire episode on a reccuring gag that shouldn't be realized.
Also I garantee that by the end of the season we'll have an episode with Brian saying "Hey Stewie, Meg's already had two birthdays and you're still one" and then for them to give us an excuse like "Well I'm a baby, I don't know numbers". Or some bullshit like that. I understand if they're going by carton time where characters never age, but you have characters clearly aging and one that simply doesn't at all. And then the excuse is LITERALLY "go fuck yourself"
-
I think I remember the exact episode that sent Family guy rolling down the hill. The one where he was declared legally retarded. From that point on the joke was ruined.
-
Its the reason I'm upset. But then again my memory of family Guy is foggy at best, I need to rewatch older eps.
So maybe it is in character for him to do that, but even then this didn't need a whole ep centered around it.
-

It's not like Quagmire has standards when it comes to women or anything really.

They actually lampshaded Stewie still being one a few seasons back.

I actually liked that episode. Mostly it was the Game Night activities at the beginning. The National Geographic/Fire Truck joke especially.
-

I remember seeing an episode where Stewie was in prekinder, but this was probably one of the more recent episodes.
-
I hate to bump a thread that's been rightfully dead for almost two years, but…
Did they just kill Brian? For real? With no copouts or cheats or dream sequences at the end?
The hell?
-
I know right, I expected them to bring him back by the end but yeah Brian's dead now, WTF Macfarlan!
-
I know right, I expected them to bring him back by the end but yeah Brian's dead now, WTF Macfarlan!
Would be strange if they did that hell an earlier episode of this season ended with Stewie choking to death on one of Rupert's eyes. Which they reversed the next episode after.
-
I should have known you guys watched this show.
-
I'm one of the few people on this board that regularly still watches the show. The comments and thread activity on the other hand should show you that not everyone else does.
-
I haven't seen this show in years but I find this pretty dumb :S Brian was one of the only likeable characters.
-
I just caught the episode, I havent really watched it in a while(except in reruns)
-
The really weird part of this all is, is the fact this was hinted at like 2 season's ago when Brian nearly died leading to them getting a new dog (though status quo kicked in as usual) Though for them to turn around and do it (and leave it) was really unexpected.
-
I should have known you guys watched this show.
Like anyone could avoid it. It's constantly on re-runs
I haven't seen this show in years but I find this pretty dumb :S Brian was one of the only likeable characters.
It really has been a while since you watched the show huh
That means you've missed classic episodes like when Peter catches the gay and sleeps with a bunch of strangers as gay men are known to do
Or that delightful romp where Peter becomes a muslim suicide bomber and causes the Boston bombing
-
Brian was one of the only likeable characters.
Emphasis on the "was."
His replacement is infinitely more likeable so he'll probably hang around for a few episodes before they kill him in some horrible fashion or other and bring Brian back.
