Didn't it already have one of those?
With an ending that was better than the manga's?
How different it was?

In the movie version, L ended up winning due to actual strategy, sacrifice and a crazy gambit.
In the manga… Team B won because they did impossible things (like make exact copies of the DN overnight), pure fluke, and because Light became really really stupid.

It had live-adaptation movie; this time, it'll be live-adaptation TV drama.

Well to be fair, Mello did use a strategic gambit to reveal the whole fake notebook plan.
Also, if Mikami hadn't strayed from his instructions, then Light still would have won, regardless.
The whole notebook copy in a night thing was a bit much though, I'd agree with that.
^
A Bolton fan? How could you! lol xD
I don't remember much but I remember I really loved what Mello did and often thought why.
L had brains, those two had intuition and luck xD
Jeez I hated almost everything after L's death.
Is that live adaptation good?
If you don't minde getting spoiled, here the ending of the film and the novel "L changes the world":
! L gets a death note and wrights his own name into the death note, so that he will die piecly in 23 days or so. So when the shinigami wrights L's Name into the Note. L fakes his death, since once your Name is wrighten, your fate can't be changed. Then it ends more or less as the manga, Kira beeing found out and killed by his "own shinigami" more or less the same situation as the manga, but with L instead of N, explaning what happend etc. The mentioned novel tells the last case of L, which happens in his last days before he dies at wattaris side.
If I remeber correctly, there is a 2nd movie with the story of the novel mentioned. But I haven't seen the movie yet, also it's in my dvd-collection.
I personally liked the movie, but I don't like
The look of the actor of Kira… He looks like a spoiled brat (and sometimes acts stupid), instead of a high intelligent young man...
New scan for the new Live Action adaptation:
!
I finally found the time to watch it.
I think the beginning was just brilliant, but around the time Misa came into the picture the series dropped for me a bit.
Losing L was a brave and unexpected move, that i have to applaude, but with him missing, the chemistry between Light and his opponent was missing and N couldn´t fill that hole.
Overall definitely a great series with a solid finale but a weaker middle part.
Still it was enjoyable to finally watch it, couldn´t believe myself that i didn´t do so already :)
Pretty much everyone agrees the first half was great, the later half not so much.
If the thinly veiled references in Bakuman are any indication, its pretty clear the authors themselves regret having the story run as long as it did… they would have been better off ending it at 6 or 7 volumes with L's death... instead of stretching it out to 14 for the eventual anime's sake.
Alternatively, the movie ending which is actually much better.
The series isn´t that long anyways and one can feel that it has been stretched, so it´s definitely a flaw that is indebted to the adaptation.
Another one would be Misa and the voice of Kira (Takada?), because even when i think they saw a somehow good reasoning behind Light´s actions , he was able to control them completely, while he obviously didn´t do anything to make that obedience justified.
I mean i can get behind the fact that this student is awkwardly smart and is planning ten steps ahead, but being able to control women just like that.
Urrgh, it may have been just bad writing for females here, but the one fiance of the FBI guy should have gotten more screentime obviously.
I don't really like how the plot went with Mello and N, the ending felt like something that happened owing to luck mostly.
I often say that I dislike the anime because of these stuff. I know and acknowledge that the first part is wonderful, but overall it kinda left me disappointed.
I don't even remember why Misa was so obsessed with Light but I know I hated her XD
Really, movie is best version. Just L and Light, and a far, far superior ending.
I don't even remember why Misa was so obsessed with Light but I know I hated her XD
Because the death god saved her at an earlier point in time.
Misa liked Light/Kira, because her parents were killed by some guys and Kira killed them.
But she liked Light anyways because he was good looking…even her shinigame couldn´t believe why she liked that guy.
Yeah, she is a terrible character.
You know, I still have no idea how Mello fooled Light at the end and in reality I not care. Just knowing that N couldn't done it alone and had Mello do something Backstage is more easy for me to understand. I also thought that the series having 108 chapters was symbolic.

If I understood the one in bold correctly: Mello did it on his own, and we never knew whether he really figured stuff out (I doubt) or it was intuition + luck.
Actually I think the whole idea was that they had characteristics that completed each other and would come out together so well that it would surpass L himself, but it didn't really feel like that XD

He did on his own and I think Near knew he did it since if I remember correctly they talked on the phone or something. But all that stunt seemed a bit too forced for me, even by this manga's stantard.
Mellow was the more active and more extreme kind of guy.
With his unconventional methods he found (by accident) important information, which helped Near in the end to overcome Light.
Mellow figured out the shenigani stuff and also by his actions he forced X-Kira to go to the real Death Note + because of his actions Near was able to figure out that Kira had to be part of the japanese anti-Kira force.
Those were important steps, which helped Near to figure out the case and ultimately to overcome Light.
Without the actions of Mellow Near would have been defeated.
So they both were one side of the coin and only together they were able to solve the case, while L had the traits of both of them, but couldn´t overcome Light.
Actually, the real hero of second part.
!
@Don:

Well, L did the most difficult part, which was finding out the killing method.
Well, L did the most difficult part, which was finding out the killing method.
Yes, like i said, he didn´t need the help of someone else or some pure luck to almost conquer the problem.
L was the best. Strange how the movie with him as the main character sucked though.

I really enjoyed L saves the world actually, couldn't tell you why though.
It is announced that Death Note live-adaptation movie (released on 2006) going to have sequel with complete new story (release on 2016).
They don't need to do that, but okay.

This actor doesn't look very intelligent and he doesn't look all that charismatic either.
What a promising sign though! Jeremy Slater wrote the most recent draft of the script!
He's the guy who wrote Fantastic Four! Sounds awesome! I'm so glad! I can't wait!

um..wasn't fantastic four considered as one of the worst movies of the year? Now i'm even more worried.
Which Fantastic Four was it? Not that any of those are even decent anyway.
And I see the guy's face but I don't see Yagami on him.

Might want to check your sarcasm-meter!
But yeah I now realize my post was a bit poor as I am disappointed with both news.

He did the 2015 one!
No. Just no. I can't imagine Light looking anything like that.
Zac Efron would have been my choice to play Light, appearance wise anyway
Just watch J-Law be cast as Misa Misa…
Does anyone know where can I find the Death Note movies with english subs with somewhat decent quality? All I could find was some with pretty shitty quality, sound and video were awfully off.
Death Note 2015 was amazing.
Can't wait for the 2016 one to air.
Light Turner
L is a black guy
What the fuck?

Script written by the dude who wrote Fantastic Four 2015.
It's his signature lol.
Keith Stanfield as L might be interesting.
Would have been happier with an Asian lead for Light but we can't even be surprised anymore >_>
Trailer for Death Note Light Up the New World (upcoming live-adaptation movie):
Now THAT's looks cool.
Just finished reading this. It was really cool and interesting until around chapter 55-60. It got really boring after that, I had to skip it to the final 5 chapters just to know how it ends.
Yeah after L… it went downhill.
Some parts of second-half Death Note got inane, but for the most part I liked it, especially Near and Mikami. I actually kind of liked Near more than L because of him having a lot more shades of gray.
New Preview for Death Note Light up the New World:
So box office-wise the new Death Note film entered the charts as number 1, taking "Kimi no na wa"'s throne.
But now the Shinkai Makoto masterpiece has taken back the top spot DESPITE being into its third month of release.
I'm curious, how's the critics' and audience reaction to the new Death Note film in Japan?
I suppose if the word-of-mouth was solid, then it wouldn't have been pushed down by "Kimi no na wa".

Your name was a enjoyable movie with really good animations. But it was nothing less than a pluff piece for teens especially for Shinkai's who has always done bittersweet stories that are closer to reality than the romance fantasy Your Name was.

yeah, yeah, but what of the new Death Note film?
