Chapter 473 "The Shichibukai Bartholomew Bear" Discussion
-
That's an English pun, though.
-
Evil Chopper and Robin make me lol. That's maybe the first time I've seen a face fault of any sort from Robin.
…And then they run like hell. Hehehe.
I wonder if Moria is camping out somewhere in Thriller Bark, waiting for them to leave? He doesn't seem enthusiastic about fighting, even if others are doing it for him...
-
@Battle:
What, the SZ-900 mark? He's had them since his introduction.
Special Zombie 900 i think it was mentioned by Moria.
Kuma now is my favorite Shichibukai.
Tabi Tabi fruit is the coolest fruit up until now.(for me)He probably needs to remve his glove to touch the object/person to be sent to hell.
-
After going through the entire chapter some thoughts:
The Straw Hats seem more bent on taking petty revenge on Odz than seriously strategizing at the moment (as evidenced by the "serial rapist" faces they make). And it's funny. For some reason I find the way they're running away from him on the spread hilarious. Though it looks like they're about to get serious at the end.
Another upside to Bart taking out Perona: we are spared yet another leftover fight from Nami.
Perona getting taken out in 1 second. lol
Bible Bart is awesome. As is that intense face he makes.. holy shit.
-
Looks like Enel's got his army. Now how's he gonna get off the moon?
That pic of Nami looking at Oz is hiarious. Looks like Oz is gonna kick some ass.
and I STILL think he trapped Perona in his "bible". The wana wana no mi, or Trap Trap Fruit. Him getting up on the wall was probably just him jumping or some One Piece defying physics shtick that's not unusual.
So, if Luffy was chasing a Doppleganger all along, where's the real Moria? Probably that round tooth guy we saw in the beginning.
Dude's fucking huge. he's gotta be at least a half-giant. He's bigger than Moria.
-
Bart was reading from his bible in that one panel, but it's pretty obviously just to show how much of a joke he thinks Perona is. That's why she gets so pissed.
She's preparing this souped up attack and he's all "blah blah Leviticus 1:5.."
-
@Cyringohn:
@Tokoro:
Great, I just realized a pun regarding Bartholomew's power. In order to eliminate someone, he has to touch them with his…BARE HAND! (and of course, being "a bear", its technically makes it "the bear's bare hand")
That's an English pun, though.
When has that ever stopped Oda?
-
Bartholomew Kuma= Hasslehoff+Jesus?
Man whatever Kuma's abilitiy is, it'd be FUCKING awesome if it were because of his spirit and NOT a DF!
-
Haha, Nami's face on page 3 is hilarious! (Also the "Rape Time!"-faces of the Strawhat-Gang on page 5)
Man, too bad Perona is gone. I really like her character design, I'm drawing her all the time XD I'm curious why she suddenly started attacking Kuma… she is one of Moria's subordinates and I don't think that a shichibukai can just attack the little helpers of another shichibukai... or it's forbidden for them to have subordinates and Kuma just want to get rid of them D: Well, I'm waiting for a translation.
-
Best scene in the chapter:
RAPE TIME.
-
Usopp has the best and most disturbing face by far.
-
Enel is totally going to declare war on Earth.. this is epic, Char's Counterattack epic.
-
^World War Enel anyone?
-
That picture coupled with the below image of Odz is greatness personified.
-
I swear to god that picture will go down in One Piece history.
Best. Expressions. Ever.
-
Is Zoro licking his sword there? Holy shite. Also, the scene where Zoro and Franky bust Oz's kneecaps made me cringe. I disliked the start of TB arc a bit, but now it's shaping up to be one hell of a ride.
Kuma is one scary guy. My guess would be in this point that he's there to inform Moria about Ace / Blackbeard, but who knows.
And we still haven't seen Luffy face off with Moria. Let the good times roll.
-
Do we have any members that can read Chinese? It'd be nice to have a translation.
-
I still believe Kuma doesn't have a devil fruit but his bible does…on page 15 he is seen writing in his book RIGHT WHEN perona attacks then she dissapears...just a thought maybe you have to right in the book then you travel to the place MAYBE
runs for flaming
ps no more perona joins strawhats theroy...tho my sig would of been much better outcome
all credit to zephos
-
Definitly, the SUN is rising on the last pic.
Oz will be history in the next chapter.
And then Luffys fight will start to get his shadow back.
I think the others get their shadow rather easy. Just find the out of order freaks who jumped out of the window.
And Perona: SHE IS SEXYYYY ! And of course not gone/dead.
-
This post is deleted!

Could be, not impossible, but it would give him a severe weakness, and in my opinion, not make him enough of a threat to be a Shichibukai if he himself does not have the power.
-
Maybe Kuma send Perona straight too Impel Down?
-
Exactly: as he shuts the book, she is gone.
-
He has a giant target-cross icon on his coat…anyone notice that? Maybe it has something to do with his power...
-
I don't remember, but was it ever stated what would happen if a zombie saw the light of day?
-

Wow, congrats!!! I think you're the first person in this thread to notice that!
-
@Seal:

It hasn't been stated, but seeing as since the zombies actually have a shadow (albiet, not their own) they should be able to stay in the sun without being vaporized or whatnot.
-
What is with Robin's face? Is she, is she actually making a comic expression?! I loved Nami's expression when she saw Odz and the fact that she left smoldering zombies outside the treasure room. When Nami met Perona it seemed like the makings of an anime catfight. Too bad Kuma interrupted.:getlost: So Kuma has the Tabi Tabi no Mi Travel Travel fruit right?
-
Man, I was all wondering if Perona might join the straw hats, lol. Kuma is pretty scary looking too.
-
Man, I was all wondering if Perona might join the straw hats, lol.
And finally we never have to hear about it again.
-
Maybe Kuma's power is like that guy from Scryed where whatever he writes in the Bible can happen, to a certain extent. Or he has some sort of death note…
-
@Taz:
Do we have any members that can read Chinese? It'd be nice to have a translation.
I'll do a gist of the important parts.
These are translated from Chinese, might have discrepancies from the original Japanese. Don't blame me XPCover Story: Enel realises there's plenty of loyal subordinates and an abundance of land (hm, perhaps he might decide to settle down on the Moon?)
Nami terrorizes the Risky Brothers into telling her the whereabout of the treasures, including a shortcut to reach the Sunny.
Nami is furious that the zombies are not just stealing her treasures, but also the Sunny. On her way, she notices the bridge that Franky made and commented on its weirdness. She wonders why the middle portion is so narrow, and beautifully constructed. Then she notices the upside-down Odz, so on the left panel we see her scramming away - "see no evil!"
Odz is really furious now, and wants to crush the Strawhats. We see Chopper & Usopp panicking about his counter-attack, but fortunately.. his horns are stuck in the ground! ^^ Yeah, here's where the evil Strawhats faces appear.
So he finally got up, then Usopp tried bluffing him about some tasty meat somewhere.
After Franky + Zoro's attack, Zoro was asking if kneeling on the ground = defeat, but Franky doesn't think Odz will admit it.
Then there's a little argument between Zoro wanting to defeat Odz (Sanji agrees) and Usopp saying their purpose is just to distract Odz so that Luffy can chase after Moria.Nami finally reaches the Sunny. She's surprised to see Perona (for the first time?). Just when Perona's about to summon her ghosts, Kuma appears. Her subordinates are in fright, reporting to her that Kuma has already caused the other zombies to disappear without a trace. Perona then realises he's one of the Shichibukai. And supposedly back in his pirate times, he's known to be very violent!
All of a sudden, Kuma pops a question to Perona: "Where would you like to go for a vacation?" To which she answers, "I like dark and evil castles.. singing a song that curses the world…"
Then she thought it's a tactic to distract her, so she retaliates by summoning her strongest combo. And she disappears. Kuma comments that she is so fierce, plus he won't be able to get Moria's whereabouts from her anyway.K:"Cat burglar.. The Strawhat's nakama!"
Nami is shocked when Kuma appears right in front of her from such a distance in an instant. She thinks it is teleportation.
K: Is it true that Luffy has a brother?
N: Yess... You mean Ace?
K: I see, so it is true.
N: So?! What are you going to do?! You're really a Shichibukai?!
K: It is my freedom to do what I want to do.
And so Nami is worried, thinking Kuma's target is Luffy, thus she has to hurry to notify him.Luffy: I caught you.. Moria!!
L: I'll see how you are going to run away this time round. Come and fight me! Return everyone's shadows!
L: A shadow...?
L: Oh no~ I've got tricked!!
L: Where am I!?In that box it says:
"The time limit of the battle-for-the-shadows is dawn and it is nearing, time is running out." -
Christ, Kuma is huuuge and scary looking. Nami Looked Hot…mmm...i love the quality of the picture in the Chinese scan...
-
Damn, if Nami's going to chase after Luffy again, then there's probably no chance she'll get that chunk of salt.
-
Thanks, nickel56. So, if Kuma says "It is my freedom to do what I want to do", I guess he came to TB for his own reasons, not as some messenger boy.
-
Thanks soooo much nickel 56. Any chance Kuma's fruit was named anywhere
So, Kuma can't be that bad a guy if he sent Perona to her favored vacation destination. Considering that Perona decided to attack him on sight, Kuma must not be on particularly good terms with Moria. I'm still favoring the "kuma is there to reign Moria in" hypothesis for his presnse on TB. Then again, he seems to affirm that he does what he wants no matter the orders from the WG.
My favorite line though is@nickel56:
In that box it says:
"The time limit of the battle-for-the-shadows is dawn and it is nearing, time is running out."because it means my speculation from a couple of chapters back is turning out right. Moria is evading luffy in order to postpone their battle until the sun starts to rise. If luffy is going to have any chance in this fight, the rest of the crew will have to purify Odz before dawn, otherwise Moria will tear him apart from the safety of a well lit area.
If they do purify the ogre on time, sanji and zoro can then hide in the shade until Luffy gets their shadows back.
-
So Perona got sent somewhere else. Lol. :P
Cover story? Yep. Must be.
-
Considering that Perona decided to attack him on sight, Kuma must not be on particularly good terms with Moria.
I thought her attacking him was just confirmation about Perona being a dipshit.
-
Yes Kanemaki, that is, if I have not mixed up the speech bubbles. The one on the right looks like it could belong to Nami too, but Kuma definitely did say "It is my freedom."
Yeah, does seem unlikely he is there to just pass a message now. But it also could be interpreted as him telling Nami not to interfere with his affairs.Perona attacking Kuma was her own problem. She's just angry that he tried to trick her.
-
Ah, I see. At any rate, Kuma doing "whatever he wants", as long as it doesn't defy the WG, fits the typical attitude of the Shichibukai. All I'm saying is that he came to TB looking for Moria, not Luffy. If he eventually informs Luffy about the result of Ace vs. Blackbeard, that'd be more of a "coincidence" to advance the plot.
-
So Perona got sent somewhere else. Lol. :P
Cover story? Yep. Must be.
Hmm… any chance that she'll become Dr. Kureha's new assistant? That's the only scary castle we have seen so far in the series.
Oh, and about the cover story: Enel has already obtained everything he ever wanted: unlimited adoring underlings and divine authority over "Fairy Vearth." So why would he ever want to leave the moon to invade anywhere?
I think it's rather likely that next week's coverstory will show enel seated at a throne being waited on by the spaceys as the new Moon God. THE END of the enel saga. Finally, lets move on to more interesting characters already.
-
Goddamn its amazing how 3 pages can make an unknown character one of my favourites in the Series GG Perona You're OUTTA HERE!
-
If Perona was teleported somewhere I think we can assume it was the lowest dungeon in Impel Down not some fairy tale destination like Kureha's castle.
-
Thanks BF for the raw and nickel56 fort the translation^^
What if Kuma is the one who will help Brooke to see Laboon ? If it is true that the shichibukai has the tabi tabi fruit and is not really a "bad guy", i think he can teleport the skeleton and after, get him back to join the crew.
-
If Perona was teleported somewhere I think we can assume it was the lowest dungeon in Impel Down not some fairy tale destination like Kureha's castle.
Why? Kuma definitely didn't seem like he bore her any ill will, and Perona probably doesn't have much of a bounty considering all of her actions were under a shichibukai's flag, so why send her to jail?
Also, can you think of any other reason that Kuma would ask perona where she wants to go for vacation if he didn't plan to send her there? I know people were hoping for a savage gorey beating of Perona, but Kuma doesn't seem like that kind of a guy anymore.
-
He could just be being sarcastic.
The guy doesn't seem as openly ruthless, but there's also this line: "And supposedly back in his pirate times, he's known to be very violent!"
He may not be like Doflamingo and want to pick fights with everybody, but he's probably got his own cruel side. Perona attacked him like a stupid bitch, so he probably sent her a place that she wouldn't to be thrilled with.
-
It's official. Kuma is the best shichibukai so far.
-
^ OMFG!! That would work! If only Kuma would agree. Seems about right that the SHs won't get another nakama after they just got one last arc.
-
Lol @ Kureha's castle idea. It makes for a funny cover story. ^^ Perona deserves to be lectured by Kureha for being so overconfident of her powers.
Anyway, I think it could be likely too since it's the only castle we've known so far, unless Oda is going to introduce another one further down the Grand Line, then the Strawhats will be surprised to see her there, and Nami shall do the explanations.Actually at this point, I wonder if there is any time constraints in Kuma's ability, like whether the victims will return to their original location after a certain amount of time? But I believe Oda is here to keep us in suspense regarding his ability, so this little trick is just a teaser, no further exploration. Booohoo.. =(
-
Neat!
I can't read it, but The pictures are pretty XD
Zoro's new Sword looks AWESOME btw!
can't wait for a Japanese Raw to come out… I wana Read it XD
Thanks for the Chinese one tho BF, it's beter than nuthin'
