The opening was good, the animation was good.
But the song is just as horrible, horrendous, and trashy as Brand New World.
Would it hurt to have a less….sunshine and rainbows song.

I agree with Buuhan, except I think Believe is the best OPening then Kokoro no Chizu.
What's with Toei and giving One Piece all these mellow songs nowadays?! OP is an intense, full throttle kinda frantic series. I liked Believe because it felt bouncy and energetic like the show. Openings like Crazy Rainbow and to a lesser extent Junlge P, seem totally out of place.After listening to this song over and over again tho..it has grown on me. And that rap part is defintely th e highlight of the song.:P

All this Kokoro no Chizu love just baffles me. It's an alright opening, but I just don't see what makes it so great. The song didn't fit the visuals (or at least, not as much as Brand New World did) and it just didn't click with me. It's an average opening at best.
Brand New World's footage fit the song and fit the arc it was played during. It's probably my favorite anime opening of all time.

Word, KnC definitely isn't my favorite. I'm not surprised people have hate for this song, but I absolutely love it, and the animation as well.

One Piece openings are pretty much hit or miss for me. Either love them or hate them.
I'd personally say Brand New World > Hikari e > Kokoro no Chizu > We Are > Jungle P > Crazy Rainbow > Bon Voyage > Believe

Brand New World was, in essence, a One Piece song. It throttles you from the get go, and remains pulse poundingly awesome till the end. Exactly like an One Piece opening should.

Wow, now THERE'S something I agree with. I've always LOVED Ending 4 and wondered why it wasn't an Opening.
Anyway, might as well drop my favorites

MOST of the OP openings are misses imho. Since we Are and Believe, Toei sorta gave up picking an awesome song and syncing it with awesome, high energy animation. Kokorno no Chizu is popular because the song was a GOOD song and the animation was HD, so atleast it looked pretty, whether it synced up or not.

I don't see a problem with Jungle P. The animation's good, it has Franky and Brooke, and it features Luffy landing on a Marine ship and fighting a ton of Captains. It actually showcases the growth of the strawhats instead of showing them fighting crap pirates or going shopping. Look at Rainbow Star; we had one scene of fighting against the "Gahoo Pirates"… the GAHOO Pirates. Who the fuck names their pirate band the "Gahoo"?
And most of them like Hikari E have them just sailing, doing nothing important.
The timing of the music fits with the animation, as well. When it did the whistle sound, it showed the Mugiwara getting freaked out from Brooke, so instead of a whistle, it sounded like a scream.
It'll never beat Brand New World, but it's still a good opening.

Sigh… I remember the good ol' days. But atleast this opening is reminiscent of the past feel of One Piece. Which means that I love it.

What's the problem with spoilers in an opening?
People like it because the song is good, the opening itself was action packed, and overall it just felt like a One Piece opening, more-so than the others.

"Fair"? They completely spoiled the Luffy/Usopp fight, along with a bunch of smaller things. At least Brand New World's spoilers were just about Enies Lobby.

One Piece is the only anime I know of that only uses an OP at the moment.
I really wish they'd go back to the original format. I mean, these new ones are just too long-winded to be enjoyable in the long run. -
This new one has the same problem Crazy Rainbow did; You get sick of listening half way through the song. The second verse makes it took long and should just be dropped.
A shame really, I miss the endings, like that one that showed fanart from the kids. That was one of my favorites.

I hated Opening 3. It didn't fit the intenseness of the Arabasta Arch. It also SPOILED tht Robin joined, for me.
Intro 3 can BURN for all I care.

The spoilers weren't hat big a deal to me for Brand New World so I just enjoyed it the most because it captured the energetic feel of the entire series and the dramatic feel of that particular arc. I really wish they had used it longer.

An opening should pump up the viewer before watching the episode.
An opening should also be entertaining enough that you never feel the need to skip it.
An opening was a much needed change, since Crazy Rainbow was boring.
Randy's factors of a good opening:
- Good percussion with a good amount of bass
- Fast pace with quick cuts and eye candy
- Female Singer
This opening is beautiful and fun to watch, but it doesn't pump me up as much as some of the other openings.
I still get chills watching Kokoro No Chizu – it's perfect, utilizes all the factors.

KnC and Believe are kind of on par with each other, and you have to love We Are. Most of the other openings pale in comparison IMO.
Jungle P has the quality-- in terms of animation, but the song does nothing for it, that is until the last 30 seconds or so when they pump up the bass.

That was my guess as to why they're doing it. Just like when OP first started they were the first anime I remember ever doing that Narration leads into the opening theme thing, then tons of other series copied it. Then OP was the first series I remember starting "cold" straight into the show for a few minutes then cutting back to the opening theme when it was most dramatic to do so. Then every other show copied it. Not they're doing this no-ending theme thing to be different again. I hope other shows don't copy it, though. It's a total misfire.
Also, it's a children's comic from Japan.
Why are you comparing it to cultural engravings and burritos.

It's one of, if not my favorite anime opening of all time (Reborn! OP2 is a close second, along with D. Gray Man OP3.)
For me, Brand New World fit the arc SO well. It was incredible, the fast paced fighting scenes, and it should've gone much longer. We should've had BNW go until the base CP9 fights finished, and gone into an opening with Jyabura vs Sanji, and some foreshadowing of the Mugiwara's power ups. Crazy Rainbow sucked.

I don't see what's so incredible about the animation. It felt like we were constantly getting fed montages of scrolling pictures. And the same stupid way the Straw Hats kept smiling was irritating. I did like the parts where they showed off their abilities and Brook's intro. Song is blah.
At least it's better than Crazy Rainbow.
