Ooh, new opening. I hope it's like some of the greater earlier openings like Believe, or Hikari E. I personally do NOT want to see scenes from Thriller Bark, seeing as they'd get boring to watch after a while.
I prefer using scenes from the series in an opening, because they're way more entertaining to see than STRAW HATS CHILLIN ON DA BEACH. Plus, Thriller Bark, even just the scenery itself, would be awesome to see in an opening if done right.

Aw man, I was hoping for Thriller Bark characters in this! It's still great news, since I'm growing a bit tired of Crazy Rainbow. I wonder who the fillain is, anyway? He looks like Blackbeard mixed with Hagrid from Harry Potter.
When was it revealed he was the villain? He looks like a good guy to me.
Aww….I really really liked Crazy Rainbow. Too bad they're getting rid of it. I hated the colorspread stuff though.
Hopefully, this new op doesnt sound like Brand New World (that opening was beyond the most horrible opening).

I don't mind the spoilers in the openings. Granted, now I'm reading the manga and everything, but before Water 7 I hadn't. When Kokoro came up, the opening just got me pumped. Sooo many things to expect with that opening. Brand New World was the same for me as well. I just got pumped up (though it's a crime that it got such a short run). For me, knowing something is one thing, but how it gets to that point is completely another thing.
So bring on the next opening! And if there are going to be spoilers, do some intense animation scenes and make it worth it lol.

Did Oda ever do any filler character designs before this?It may be a character from his sketchbook,like some "cool" guy he thought up,but couldnt see a way to bring him in.I hope that hell also have something else to do with the filler,like laing out the most bare outline of the plot at least. We had enough of cooking eps and searches for animals (or places-the W.A. ark if you dont know,but THAT was actualy a good filler).

^ What was wrong with it? The lyrics I think had some of the most to do with One Piece than some of the others, I thought it was catchy and though I haven't actually seen any of the episodes it played in It seems like the kind of opening that would get me hyped up to watch the show every week.
Though I'm anxious to see animated Brook, as long as it doesn't reach Naruto levels of epic proportion, I'm okay with filler. Anything to avoid the neverending shitfest that befell Ennies Lobby (which already dragged in manga form.)
I'm not much interested in the new song since I kind of hate all OP's opening and most endings songs. But I am curious to see the animation. How Franky's going to fall into the obligatory 'line-up' montage for one thing.

People have been saying this about every opening since Bon Voyage. For the record, while I do somewhat like all of the opening songs, Believe anoyed the HELL out of me. It was on way too many episodes and sounded too much the same (also, I don't really like techno music that much). Guess what though? EVERYONE THINKS IT'S THE BEST SONG EVER! >_>;
As for the spoiler scenes in the opening, I think they should do it. But I also like the random stuff they do in the other openings so…(EVERY ANIME OPENING spoils things from the manga).

Didn't someone point out a pattern in the OP openings? Like every other opening is spoiler, while every odd opening is static or something like that?
Anyway, if that's true, the next arc will be Spoiler style even though I prefer the Static ones. This 5050 or whatever group sounds rly nice. Although I dream of the day when OP actually has an opening by a decent group I've actually heard of from Japan. If they wanna stick with the pop/r and b stuff why dont they use an m-flo or a Bennie K song?! Not kiddie or ubber bouncy enough for Toei or what? Also Gold Roger should come back and do the intro thing. I miss that so much, it's not the same post song..

Wait Techno? When has One Piece had techno themes? And One Piece is a bouncy weird colorful series so perky bouncy songs fit if you ask me…
Most popular Japanese music is heavily synthesized and techno-influenced. I considered Believe to be pretty Pop-techno-lite-ish.
BTW Believe should've just been OP's official opening and they should've changed the animation every so often if you ask me. They were obviously flirting with the idea by keeping that one around so long..
Not really a fan of the spoilerific openings. I'd rather have the Straw Hat's hamming it up or showing some scenes from past stuff they've done. Believe is a good example.

It's scandalous, every people is saying that Brand new world (6) is the worst opening… hum it's no so wrong but if you look at them with attention the second and the fourth are in the same order (yep I do not dislike "Bon voyage" but it's an average opening for me).
In my opinion the best in order are :
1°) the third (I'm not a rock fan but this song is so good and it's sync with the anime but just look at it on youtube)
2°)the seventh crazy rainbow
I still like We are the best. It's just a great and a catchy song. Hikari E and Crazy Rainbow are also my favourites - I didn't like Believe all that much.
In my opinion, every opening eventually got tiresome of hearing every episode, except for We Are. We Are is just classic.
Oh, they need to bring back Adventure World and use it until the end of the series. Seriously. That was the best thing the anime had done since I don't know when.
They should make a new version of "We Are" and use it for the series last opening.
I never thought Adventure World was that hot.

I like spoilerific OPs, but this is good too. CRAZY RAINBOW bored the hell out of me because it was just WACKY ADVENTURES SUCKING GOAT DICK ON THE ISLE OF NEGROES or something.
I think Bon Voyage was my least favorite OP song. It was just kinda… meh. I liked Brand New World.

Brand New World was also awesome for showing Buggy, Whitebeard, and the others. Crazy Rainbow was just like "OH HEY SPECIAL GUEST APPEARANCE BY MIHAWK AND SHANKS"
My FAVORITE part of Brand New World was that awesome bit with Franky and Fukuro slugging the living crap out of each other.
..which was completely canceled out by how TOEI REUSED THE EXACT SAME FOOTAGE IN THAT EPISODE. GODDAMN THAT'S LAZY AND TERRIBLE.
I feel the same way Carter. When the song picked up with Luffy using Gear 2, that's when the opening won me over. Franky vs. Fukurou was my favorite snippet.

I think it's really cool when they do something like that. I just hope on the last episode they bring back We Are and have an up-to-date opening with it. Then maybe have "Memories" running at the end.
I also imagine Memories playing during the end of One Piece. It just has that vibe to it, it also feels like the type of song which will make you want to cry playing during the ending of the series.

Some bits of Brand New World were great, but they handled the spoilers wrong. About 2-3 should be awesome bits like Franky vs. Fukuro, but the rest should be a 1 second bit, like Gear 2nd.
But darn it, isn't the opening gonna come out with fillers/at the very start of TB? If so Kokoro no Chizu style will be PERFECT. I remember I so loved it as someone who didn't read the manga/know what was gonna happen.

I liked pretty much every opening save for the 2nd and 3rd, and then crazy rainbow star.
but yea, I'm with carter on this one. The spoilerific openings that recreate scenes exactly from the manga panels and animate color spreads are the best imo. Especially because they change things up in the anime. (Save for the lazy ass Franky opening re-use)
We Are is a classic though.

New World does fit the series, but i just dont think it fits thriller bark.. It has to be more horror-like.. something that gives off a Nightmare Before Christmas-like vibe..
I don't think they should make an opening for a specific arc (Unless it's a big one like Alabasta or Skypeia), otherwise it wouldn't last long.

Yokan with Thriller Bark footage would be awesome.
It would be way better than the Jpop openings, imo. We Are! is my favorite, all the others sound a bit generic.
