She doesn't appear to be in pestering mode yet based don the Onii-chan dialog. Does that side show up randomly? I can't remember if the person can ask her for something then it triggers. Or if Alluka starts the process for whatever reason.
Hunter x Hunter
-
-
We don't know yet, what triggers her pestering mode. Maybe elapsed time between wishes. And I'm already wondering what will the pesterings be like. Kill your family / best friend or what? Basically the last one will be ~100x worse that giving her one's own brain. Wow.
-
Mindfuck in this chapter. The good kind.
When Killua "died" my heart jumped a bit, Togashi played me.
-
I'm now about 60% convinced that Alluka died or was grievously injured as an infant or toddler and the Zoldycks were forced to make a deal with a person or malevolent spirit to keep her from dying. It would explain a lot, including her dual personalities and the fact that Killua is ignorant of it and still treats her like his little sister (Being that he would have been too young at the time to remember such an event). Milluki and Illumi, being a bit older, would remember such an event and thus would be more distant.
-
So if you fail the 4 pesterings, you die as well as your beloved. If the pesterings are very costly, then you die as well as the people you spent the most time with? I got confused when the mother of the dead person was brought in, because the mother spent more time with the person before he/she died.
-
In front of some particular garbage that gets scanlated Hunter is such a breath of fresh air. Togashi really got me with that page. And then the next one doesn't clear if that was real or just Illumi speculating. And only in the end of chapter Togashi shows us that it was just a "joke". Ha-ha.
And what's more - a lot of phrases from the past chapters get cleared with new chapters years after. Either he thought about everything from the start (I think so) or that is just a very, very clever use of previous pieces put "just in case".
If he thought about Alluka's power way back when he showed her on the Zoldyck's photo, that means he counted what it will used for. And that brings us Gon's situation, and the whole Chimera ant arc. I'm happy that I can read HunterxHunter week by week, even with hiatuses, and enjoy the thrill of mystery. Because digging whole series in one go is just another experience. -

No, if you fail to grant the pesterings, you and the most beloved person to you dies. Always. If the degree of the previous wish is major, then people also die by length of time they spent with you, from longest to shortest, until the threshhold of the wish is satisfied. In the case of the 67 people, it was her entire class and the teacher, whom she had probably been with for years. Ignoring the fact that her mother carried her for 9 months (apparently that's irrelevant to the time length process), she only actually saw her mother for 30 minutes, once. Being that her new lover was loved more than her mother, he died instead of her, followed by the people she had spent the most time with (her class). Make sense now?

No, the mother spent very little time with her, only 30 minutes a month.

The 30 minutes a month confused me, because if you accumulate 30 minutes a month over 30 years (as an example), that's still 180 hours, so that means the person who died spent more than 180 hours with her. In the Zoldyk butlers' case, that makes sense.
-

If you are referring to her most beloved, then on that one it doesn't matter how much time is spent, all that matters is whether you love them the most or not.Edit: nvm, I did that wrong, lol
But if you're in a classroom for the majority of the day for a few years, I think racking up 180+ hours with 67+ people would be easy.
-
@RobbyBevard:
Never. They were both killed off camera, thats why they didn't show up to vote in the hunter elections.
Oh wow this is a good point
-
I think Gon will lose his hunter license because of the ilness. That rat bastard will then decline the reason that Gon gives and ask him to take the test again or complete some missions so readers can see what happened to gons powers or a way to get them back.Sounds good right? :D
Btw really nice chapter we are getting more and more info about that ability for 2 or 3 chapters now?
-
Do you think that "Brother Die" and "Let's play THAT" are already pesterings?
I think they are.
Every time she pesters shes in that child like mode. And the dying thing wouldn't have been so serious if it wasn't a pester.
So, Killua probably has one more pester left b4 he can ask his wish, and then 3 more super dangerous pesters after that.
-
Wouldn't that be hilarious if togashi ended the series by having Alluka make 3 requests to someone else that doesn't know the rules but still spend time with Gon or Killua and that person denied all the requests. That would be a more abrupt ending than say Yusuke Urameshi opening up a noodle shop and getting married
-
hmm, I wonder, did Hisoka and Illumi attend the the second and third voting sessions?
What happens if a hunter doesn't show up to turn in their license?
-
Somebody could just wish for time to stop, and then everyone would just freeze. We'd have a caption: "And the world froze. Forever. The End." Followed by "Togashi will be taking a indefinite hiatus from writing Manga. I hope everyone understands."
-

I thought they weren't pesterings because she was referring to him from her nice side*, the evil magic part of her wasn't pestering him
*Which Killua mentioned she only does for him
So my theory is if anyone else had been talking to her, the evil magic side of her would be pestering that individual. But since this is Kil she is just sincerely playing with him, though judging from that last panel the dark side of her seems to be coming out

One little observation that may very well be wrong:
http://mangastream.com/read/hunter_x_hunter/41749399/14
Is that conversation (Illumi-Hisoka) taking place BEFORE Killua enters Alluka's room? Because what I understood from it, is that Hisoka should be waiting out of sight in Alluka's room right now in order to instantly kill Alluka if things go wrong. . .
Is that correct, or I didn't understand it correctly?

Yeah, that's what I was thinking.
I'm thinking the conversation happened before Killula entered the room, and the darkness surrounding Hisoka's and Illumi's faces were meant to illustrate that they are currently somewhere in the background hiding.
-
Is that Ging on the bottom left of the first page? He's getting the hell away from that election.
-
Other observation: it's that Alluka when she's in pestering-mode (hmmm should I call it genie-mode) she always begins her pestering with the name of the guy; "Hey Kasuga, can you…. , hey Muuna can you ..", I think that's how Killua found out there were 2 personalities, cause in stead of using 'hey onichan let's do this or that', she says "hey Killua, can you ..."
-
Is it possible for Alluka's pesterings to kill herself off? Since the punishment for rejecting 4 requests is death of the victim, the victim's most loved one, and all acquaintances who have spent the most time with her until a certain value is met, is it possible for the punishment she deals to include herself?
Additionally, couldn't anyone just wish to become an omnipotent and omniscient God, instead of asking for a billion units of money? What would the pestering be then? Kill the new God, despite that being impossible? And technically, the new God can just erase Alluka's existence from time, because He's a God.

Honestly, I wouldn't think too much about it. Yes, I also would really like an answer to questions like "could some events lead to her death?" or "just how far is the range of this technique?"
It would probably take many chapters to go through every possible scenario and what-if, since the only thing for now we know is that she can probably make everything make come true and that the degree of wish is probably infinite. Obviously, it's impossible for us to get a clear answer on that, since all the people involved with the whole Alluka scenario are the Zoldycks only and they are not stupid enough risk something as the the survival of their family or even the fate of world, knowing how her powers work and just how viciously it can backfire. I'm already content with the possibility of many things not being explained because of the impossibility on even getting that knowledge without doing something incredibly dangerous or stupid.
About the god thing, yeah…I don't know, wishing to be god is already an impossible idea to begin with, since when you actually can strip an entity of its power and making it helpless, isn't that already proving that it wasn't god to begin with, since him being omniscient, omnipotent and omnipresent shouldn't even make it possible for it go get this far. Anyway, this is all very theoretical, so I'll just stop now so I won't get lost in thought.
Maybe the reality of the world of HxH would just break after a wish of this scale, lol. -

Maybe.

I kind of expected a lengthier discussion

Anyway, I don't know what else to think of Alluka's power, other than the entity inside her is a devilish death-dealer. Or maybe it's more like a program created by the Devil, and then let loose in the world to create chaos.
-
I still am confident that Killua won't wish for Alluka to save Gon directly. Anyway, does anyone get the feeling that Killua might stand up against Illumi physically to protect Alluka? Also I know Silva must hae cooked up a plan with Killua to prevent all their deaths, otherwise I doubt he would have let him go through with this.
-
Isn't Hunter x Hunter gonna be dropped by JUMP?
-
Why would HxH be dropped now?
-
-
-
Trolling. Doing it in the Reborn thread, too.
-
Isn't Hunter x Hunter gonna be dropped by JUMP?
Are you just wandering from thread to thread saying that for every manga lol?
-
Well it already has. Remember when Pitou died, it was only his nen that kept attacking gon, because the last idea ingrained in the Pitou's nen was to kill this man. Nen had to have a self-consciousness or else it wouln't have done anything.I think nen is very similar to stand abilty (jojo ba), they're both life forces and there were automatic stands that existed long after their users death. it's the same I think.
Yea, that makes sense, I never really gave that Pitou scene much thought, I was distracted by Gon's new form and ability.
Anyway, I don't know what else to think of Alluka's power, other than the entity inside her is a devilish death-dealer. Or maybe it's more like a program created by the Devil, and then let loose in the world to create chaos.
I kinda like Mugiwara's hypothesis better. I think it makes sense, take a look:
I also have a theory about where this ability comes from. You know how the Zoldycks refer to Alluka as: we don't know where (s)he comes from. I think her curse (nen) is a direct result of the Zoldycks generation of killings. Normally a killer should have to live with the burden of the kill and live a cursed live, but not so much with the Zoldycks, they're so professional that they achieved to disconnect the kill with the moral repercussions and they lived as a normal family life as possible. Now the curse came into being as one of their childs. I could even say that the 2nd person in Alluka is maybe the nen of all the people they killed who wanted revenge on the Zoldycks or something like that…
-
If the requests that Alluka made are pestering's… Than she's already done three right?
Die for me
Wake up
Play game
-
If you look at the last page, it shows the "Wish face". It's pretty obvious that she has and Killua can make his wish now.
-
everytime I see Alluka's darkness face the inception horn goes off in my brain.
-
Well, now I wish for a manga with Alluka being the main character.
Somethings been bugging me and I hope someone with a better knowledge of this can answer.
I believe that the idea for HxH comes from when Togashi was writing the Black Chapter Arc from Yu Yu Hakusho (well, I think that much is obvious).
And I think that the Three Kings Arc, and the manga itself, ended kinda unsatisfyingly because he got all these great ideas about powers but can't or won't show it in Yu Yu Hakusho. Thats why he kinda rushed the ending to write HxH.And now we get Alluka, which, going by the discussion going around here, has a very interesting power.
So, if Togashi himself feels the same way, is it possible that he might just do the same thing and "rushed" the ending to write a new manga based on Alluka's power. Cause I'm sure u'll all agree it has a very interesting premise, and if written right (which I'm sure Togashi can) can be a really interesting manga.
-
well I'm not really worried about Killua failing because it would mean that every main character will die and that the manga would end… but he wont get out of this one easily either.. that's sure.
-
Seems to me like Alluka's just a child who wanted attention. I guess all the Zoldyck kids dealt with the family business a little differently, but Alluka really craved "love" from her parents which she probably never got (maybe since she's probably the only girl).
This power of her's might have been her last message to her parents that obviously wasn't received properly. And since Killua is the one who knew her best, he's probably the only one who understands this.
-
When Killua "died" my heart jumped a bit, Togashi played me.
Same here. I bought it hook, line and sinker. Didn't think I was that gullible.
But yeah, pretty good chapter and Hisoka is awesome. "Yeah, that's not good." Love it!
And oh yeah. Pariston. I've always thought of him as basically being that type of politician you see in movies, tv and comics (and in real life too sadly) who has a nice smile and a chipper, upbeat attitude that you know is just complete BS deep down. Deep down he's just a corrupt slimeball. That much is obvious. He has potential I'd say.
-
i am reallly confused…can somebody explain to me how the pestering really works?
-

Considering Kalluto looks like Hotaru Tomoe, I really hope s/he's a girl.
In that page where Milluki is out with Kalluto and Alluka, does he say he's out with his "younger siblings" or "younger sisters" or "younger brothers"? That would be a question best left for Kewl or another translator.

Do you honestly believe Togashi is gonna stop making Hunter X Hunter to work on a manga about Alluka, or are you just typing?
-
@Mark:
i am reallly confused…can somebody explain to me how the pestering really works?
There's a lot of nuances, but the simplest way to explain it…
3 requests are made. If you fullfill them, you get
1 wish granted.Difficulty of that wish influences the difficulty of the
next 3 requests.Failing to complete requests results in death for a varying number of people, (at least 2) based on the difficulty of the previous wish.
The person that makes a wish is not responsible for the next set of requests.
-
Her power is interesting, but so far they haven't shown enough of her personality to really be a stand alone character…
-
Do you honestly believe Togashi is gonna stop making Hunter X Hunter to work on a manga about Alluka, or are you just typing?
Well, The Black Chapter arc was one of Yu Yu Hakusho's peak and the manga itself was doing well. But if you read the manga u'll know why I said the ending was "unsatisfying" and felt kinda rushed.
Plus, if u read that arc, u'll see that the whole concept of Nen use basically comes from the villains there. With all the specific powers and sets of conditions and territories and what-have-you. And of course its not a manga about Alluka per-say, but more about that sort of deadly wish-granting power.
All in all, to answer ur question. Do I believe Togashi will abandon HxH to work on a new manga?
I'm not absolutely sure. I'm just stating my concern, cause the thought just crossed my mind.
That's why I'm asking those with more knowledge on this matter (Robby, Aohige, or Redon, or anyone with more knowledge about the Togashi's past records). To know if my concern is baseless or not. Does that answer ur question? -
The man takes year long hiatuses.
I think if he was in the same frustrated situation he was in with YYH he would have rushed HxH to an ending years ago and been done with it. That he has his current bizarre schedule and made some sort of deal with Jump says a lot about the fact that he wants to do this… just not full time.
-

Ah. So in YYH's case it was more because he was frustrated (for whatever reasons).
I had thought he was the kind of guy who would drop what he's doing if he finds something else more interesting. Glad that wasn't the case. I would really hate it if HxH ends like YYH

I'd like to think that WSJ only puts up with his hiatuses because of H X H's popularity. If he flat out told them he wanted to write something else, they'd just tell him to GTFO and go write for a different magazine, although he'd be hard-pressed to find another publication that'd put up with his BS. Maybe his wife could get him a job at Kodansha, writing Shoujo… which would be some funny shit.

Togashi is in beast mode lately. Even his art feels like it's been stepped up.
