OP doesn't have such ridiculous changes and toning down, far from it actually. What they did in this episode was like if the Marine tortured and killed by Caribou tried to kill him first
Uh… He did. He tried to pull a gun on him.

! I was just reading the Japanese script and it was quite interesting. Gotta say first, that my Japanese skills are pretty limited, and I'm not sure about anything : P But what I understood from one of the texts, was that Illumi said that there's something about Alluka (and his ability?) that Silva and Killua don't know, and I sorta understood it had something to do with Alluka's pesterings getting bigger over time…. And apparenlty Alluka was asking for Killua's friend's (Gon's) eye and ear?! In the second text he says he wants to see his dad and mom and brother... I'm really not sure if these scripts are even legit, and even less sure about my own translations. Don't take these too seriously.
For me it`s unclear if Alluka is just possesed by that "mean" power or if she actually has some control over it.
I mean the wishes she grants for people always turn out to let other people suffer, beside the one who originally wished for it.
(princip of yin and yang…when someone gets something good, someone else will get something bad)
So even when your wish is unselfish it still could turn out to be no blessing afterall, but iam curious if Alluka herself could judge that and by that realizes that wish in differnet ways:
That means when you wish for world peace i would think she makes 2/3 of the world die so that one nation can rule or
when you which for no more hunger in the world, all those hungry people will starve. etc.depending on your true inner self.
But is that her power or she herself who may or may not can control HOW a wish will be granted.
I also think its curious that the person you love the most also has to die with you, after not fulfilling her wishes...i mean when you would force her to get some questions i would see a reason in it, but she besieges people by herself and ignoring her ends in the same result as answering "no". So i tend to believe that it is an ability which was meaned to do nothing good in the long run(thats why it
s a curse), and the little girl is not much more than a puppet which works the way the curse wants her to.
Maybe a truely unselfish wish, who is just aimed for her benefits may be able to rescue her from this situation, but for that we may first need to know why she even has such a tricky ability.^^
He could have asked her to not pester anyone anymore, instead of keeping the wishing well in the basement.
Better question, if Illumi wanted to kill her so much, why didn't he just wish that she would die?
@Thousand:
Better question, if Illumi wanted to kill her so much, why didn't he just wish that she would die?
because he would have to deal with her pesterings first because the last wish was millukis.
limit the risk is his police i guess?
Not to mention there might be unseen ramifications for wishing things such as that and wishing away the pesterings. After all, they only found out that there were such terrible consequences to her power only after people started turning into spaghetti.
The one who was asked for vital organs, could have answered "yes" and then asked for healing powers.

Her nen could remain and pester him
Some nen skills and curses become stronger after death, so… just killing the user isn't always the best idea. This was discussed at length when the spiders were trying to figure out what to do about Kurapika.
When are we going to see kurapica and leorio again!?
Uuuuughg the suspense is killllllling meeeee

Never. They were both killed off camera, thats why they didn't show up to vote in the hunter elections.
I heard they`re now married and practice gay sex all the time off-camera (for now)..thats why they had no time to go to the election.
The one who was asked for vital organs, could have answered "yes" and then asked for healing powers.
How do you ask for anything without a spine and brain.
The one who was asked for vital organs, could have answered "yes" and then asked for healing powers.
1. That person would be dead.
2. They didn't know how the powers worked at that point, there was no making any sort of strategy for them.
@Don:

But Kurapika is a girl…
The chapter and Alluka character vaguely remind me of Akira so far, especially all those huge industrial gates Killua and Silva were entering through.
And the concept of some poor child sort of wiped of some or all personality because of some obscenely potent power in their bodies beyond any choice of their own.
@RobbyBevard:
But Kurapika is a girl…
Alluka was a boy a couple of chapters ago…didn`t you learn that Togashi shits on such stuff ?
Hermaphrodite may be the correct term, but even Togashi learned to hide his awesome plot twists.
@Monkey:

We don't know if the pesterings would be different if they were granted, even if I wouldn't be in my best "toss kid into the air" mood without my liver and my duodenum. Just thinking of ways to dodge the pesterings or overcome then, a better waste of my life than becoming chunky salsa for nothing.
Like giving her my liver, that was going to be my lunch. It's needed to be what she meant or what fits with the description?
And we don't know the limit of her powers, but by that moment, after granting billions by warping a money balloon, they could guess that it was a powerful ability.
We don't know if the pesterings would be different if they were granted
We have no reason to assume they would be.
When the first butler was refusing the basic requests they were all very basic things, it didn't escalate at all or anything like that.
So basically the poor black haired girl would cut out her liver, somehow find a way to not have an intestinal system breakdown by losing her duodendum…..and than would be dead because of the whole "removing the spine" thing. There would be no getting around that.
And it's pretty unfair to assume that hapless Butler would possibly be thinking on her feet or even really expecting to be asked for fatal things.
, even if I wouldn't be in my best "toss kid into the air" mood without my liver and my duodenum.
The duodendum is a key segment of the digestive tract. It connects the stomach to the intestines. You'd be pretty much dying unless you had something like a prosthetic replacement or whatever. To say nothing of basic blood loss involved in removing that type of thing.
And there's no way at all whatsoever that Alluka was going to ask for being tossed in the air. You're misunderstanding the power if you think a request like that would be among requests for organ removal.
Just thinking of ways to dodge the pesterings or overcome then, a better waste of my life than becoming chunky salsa for nothing.
Do you think the butler had all this knowledge about the power in the first place? I mean, you're idea of this is already flawed. You're expecting a high-high on the third request if the others were met, which is not going to happened.
Like giving her my liver, that was going to be my lunch.
You bring livers around for lunch lol?
It's needed to be what she meant or what fits with the description?
Do you really think the power is that easily bamboozled?
And we don't know the limit of her powers, but by that moment, after granting billions by warping a money balloon, they could guess that it was a powerful ability.
This doesn't get you by the whole being dead thing.
@Monkey:

It's realy not an issue, it's not like we are going back in time and see what would the pesterings be if they are granted/denied.

True, just wondering on someone who had better information, like her brothers, could do.

Yes, I had to check.
@Monkey:

The point that I was trying to make is that after you have 2 vital organs less, doing ANY kind of movement isn't that easy. "Take out 2 of your organs and then jump around" are in the same level as "take out your liver, duodenum and left lung".
@Monkey:
Do you think the butler had all this knowledge about the power in the first place? I mean, you're idea of this is already flawed. You're expecting a high-high on the third request if the others were met, which is not going to happened.
The 2th butler already knew about the wishes, and this one already knew about the dangers, why give one information without the other? Thinking it through Illumi probably didn't want any other buttler to get greedy and just revealed the chilli con carne part.
@Monkey:
You bring livers around for lunch lol?
I personaly don't, I have a hard time even eating animal Skin, I don't dare to try other organs.
@Monkey:
Do you really think the power is that easily bamboozled?
I don't, but I would like it to be shown.
@Monkey:
This doesn't get you by the whole being dead thing.
But at least she would have set up the wish for the next one, pretty unfairly, but with the first round we knew that the one who grants the pesterings doesn't need to be the one that gets the wish. Probably what Illumi would do, like brainwash the next buttler to force it to grant the pesterings.
Just watched episode 20 of the original seriers. Gotta say the animation is stellar. I'm not usually a fan of filler content but this is good filler. Like that cream stuff in hostess cupcakes. Or bacon, cheese and crab meat stuff in prawns good type of filler. So far definitely one of my favorite episodes. How far does the series go before it ended? I think I've asked before but I've forgotten lol.
How far does the series go before it ended? I think I've asked before but I've forgotten lol.
The main series gets about half way through York Shin, then the OVAs finish that and go up through the end of Greed Island. Filler free.
I wonder how the Anime will fair this time around. I'm liking how they are handling some of the filler. As far as manga goes, I just want Gon to feel better :(
Or die.
I'm not picky.
its out!!!
! OMGZKDFGJSDFHDFHFHF
the chapter is getting better and better. togashi is one crazy mofo to create all this scheme. i will re read it for better understanding regarding the election. LOL at alluka's pestering were all piece of cake (fake death, wake up, and shiritori eh? :D )
! I think I might be starting to understand Alluka's ability. Probably have to re-read these past couple of chapters just to make sure.
All right , I see my theory was correct ( or correcter than the rest), in stead of love-level, it's the amount of time passed with the pestered one that decides your fate. And death toll is in correlation with the difficulty of the wish.
I also have a theory about where this ability comes from. You know how the Zoldycks refer to Alluka as: we don't know where (s)he comes from.
I think her curse (nen) is a direct result of the Zoldycks generation of killings. Normally a killer should have to live with the burden of the kill and live a cursed live, but not so much with the Zoldycks, they're so professional that they achieved to disconnect the kill with the moral repercussions and they lived as a normal family life as possible. Now the curse came into being as one of their childs. I could even say that the 2nd person in Alluka is maybe the nen of all the people they killed who wanted revenge on the Zoldycks or something like that…
Hmm. Interesting.
Though anyone else feel like Pariston might be slowly creeping towards making the loss of license "permanent" ?
Aside from your most beloved or second, the rest is hard to measure the level of love, isn't it? The spent amount of time is a much better measure.
So, unless the "second personality" (that calls Killua Killua) pesters, other pesters don't count?
If Killua knows that if he should fail to grant Alluka's pestering, Gon will die even if he is cured, then he shouldn't risk taking the consequence.
Or maybe he will have someone else wish that Gon won't die before his life span no matter what happens. But since that contradict the "most beloved will die" rule, I don't know it it works.
See, she asked "Die for me" and Killua granted what she wanted, not what she said. This is what I wanted.
@THE:
So, unless the "second personality" (that calls Killua Killua) pesters, other pesters don't count?
Yep this was surley just a game they used to play or something, just like I said before Alluka is just a normal kid untill she get's into "pestering"-state (2nd personality).
Wow, yea, it just keeps getting better.
I probably have to re-read the chapter, from what I understood Killua thinks those pesterings were not asked by this entity but her real sister, so he still needs to fullfill real pesterings in order to get a wish, right?

I like your way of thinking. It would make much sense. But would require Nen to have some sort of self-consciousness.
Alluka's ability is definitely one of the most interesting shonen abilities I've ever seen. It's so simple, but also delightfully dark and perilous. Not many authors have the courage to introduce something of this scale. Togashi really knows what he's doing this time. I'm really beginning to think that the hiatus was a good idea after all.
I couldn't help laughing at Hisoka saying he's fucked up. He is seriously going to become my favourite adventure series character at this rate. Oh, you twisted devil. Never change.
Here's a theory. I've wondered why the Spiders didn't already have a nen-eraser type among them, and to go along with the curse idea, what if they did and Silva killed him/her. It could have occurred before Alluka was born. It's a reach. ;)
I like your way of thinking. It would make much sense. But would require Nen to have some sort of self-consciousness.
Well it already has. Remember when Pitou died, it was only his nen that kept attacking gon, because the last idea ingrained in the Pitou's nen was to kill this man. Nen had to have a self-consciousness or else it wouln't have done anything.I think nen is very similar to stand abilty (jojo ba), they're both life forces and there were automatic stands that existed long after their users death. it's the same I think.
Those sick zoldyek family jokes .
Pariston rules again.
Wait, so if more people die, then :
The pestered one, his/her most loved one and the ones that spent more or less time with those two die? Or is it like a tree that branches out? Because if not, even friggin Tonpa would die.
Heh, Togashi has set up a way to END THE MANGA, by making every character we have meet implode into cowder.
my mind is fucked. Togashi is really sick, how could he come up with this stuff.
I really despise illumi… his character really bothers me lol. Even when set up next to Hisoka, he's clearly the more twisted of the two.
Edit: Someone may have already mentioned this but maybe Kalluto joined the spider so he/she could get Dancho to take away Alluka's ability? Seemed like Kalluto joined the spider in order to save someone...
I see it hasn't been done
Killua: "My sister can't be this moe!"
Oh and one thing that's been bugging me for a while
"Our butlers get executed if they have lovers anyway".
Do you also execute them if they don't like milk and their favourite colour is orange ? Arbitrary persecution ftw !
It looks like big brother Illumi knows nothing about Alluka's other side. This could suck for him and Hisoka.
What a great chapter. I think the very last page gave the most information to be honest. it doesn't really clear anything up, but it states that what ever it is making the wish isn't Alluka herself. but something within her.
@No:

Its not arbitrary. Having affairs allows for bribery, blackmail and extortion, and overall betrayal. If their butlers have relationships outside the family, then their loyalty, trust and priorities have been compromised.
People think less reasonably when passion is involved.
Same thing applies to jobs in real life when there's a conflict of interests. "Oh, your uncle is this important politician, and you're working in the office of one of his rivals and potentially taking secret files and strategies. No, can't allow that, you're fired."
Wait, so if more people die, then :
The pestered one, his/her most loved one and the ones that spent more or less time with those two die? Or is it like a tree that branches out? Because if not, even friggin Tonpa would die.
The most loved one of the pestered one dies, and then the people who spent the most time around the pestered one dies.
Since the wish may require 10k as Illumi says, probably nearly everyone that Killua has even had 1 hour of contact with will die. (if Killua takes the brunt of the pestering.
I wonder if Hisoka and Illumi are already somewhere in the room, because the last few pages made it look like they were hiding.
Loved this chapter! Especially this part lol.
!
I really want a back story on how they met. They are so amusing together.
The pesterings make more sense now. So glad for that. And boo Pariston. Man I hate that guy.
Yeah, great chapter. Dying based on time of acquaintance makes much more sense. Sorry Silence, but it looks like your theory about those used to facilitate a wish dying was incorrect. Loved Illumi and Hisoka's interaction; Hisoka is always good for a sadistic laugh. It makes sense that there's two personalities inside Alluka, although usually a second personality is born out of childhood trauma, which Alluka seems to lack, unless there's a story of when she was a baby or toddler that we haven't been told yet, which is entirely possible. I'm beginning to think that the real Alluka nearly died (or did) when she was little, and that someone or something (male) is borrowing her body. Illumi and Silva have seemed to hint at that. Perhaps Killua, being the closest in age to her, was too young to remember this happening, and thus is the only one that treats her like a true family member anymore.
On another note, Pariston is a creep, and hopefully Cheadle can come up with something to keep him in check. I'm rooting for you, Cheadle.
So, Killua is going to not only risk the pesterings from the previous user to get his wish to cure Gon…
but then he's also going to take responsibility for the enormity of that wish so that the next person doesn't get screwed... and deal with the next batch of much much harsher pesterings? And that's where he's expected to fail, die, and take everyone he's ever known with him?
@RobbyBevard:

Do you think that "Brother Die" and "Let's play THAT" are already pesterings?
Do you think that "Brother Die" and "Let's play THAT" are already pesterings?
No, not at all. I think that's just playing. But thats the impression I get from his brother's speech, and Hisoka's reaction. That Gon will be cured, and then killed.
I think Killua is going through it twice. Once easy (from the PC) then again to pay for the wish… even though he isn't actually obligated to... Killua feels its his responsibility to do the hard task to.
Or is that just what his brother assumes?
