Embalming: The Another Tale of Frankenstein - Nobuhiro Watsuki's new manga
-
-
So Buso Renkin ended?
-
done by the mangaka of rurouni kenshin.
I'll keep my eye on this one.
-
Buso Renkin's been done for quite a while I think.
I didn't think it was particularly good, but I love Watsuki's art (still haven't seen an HQ version of his Strawhats) so perhaps this one will be better.
-
Eh. I still think enjoy RK quite a bit, but everything Watsuki's done since then has been pretty generic and dull. I'm not expecting much.
-
Buso Renkin was awesome, and a great example of the publisher ruining a good product.
Can't wait to check this out.
-
So will there actually be a guy named Frankenstein in there or does it refer to reanimated corpses?
-
I've only seen the anime of Buso Renkin, but it was pretty generic and boring. Hopefully this is better.
-
I hope Shueisha doesn't shit on this one too
apparently this magazine is the replacement for Monthly Jump
-
Wait a minute, some of you guys liked busou renkin? Why? I only read a volume of it, but it seemed like perfectly mediocre stuff. Should I give it another look?
-
Watsuki does a good job pretty much no matter what he makes. Kenshin's a classic, Buso Renkin had great characters and was a great story, even if if followed the generic Shonen Formula, and I love his artwork. I have high expectations for this.

MoonFace and Papillion. 'Nuff said.
-
I never read Busou Renkin, but it sounded like Watsuki got a pretty raw deal, for being the guy that made Kenshin

As if only read one volume of any manga is enough to get a definite opinion on it.
-
Well, there was only volume scanslated at the time, so it's not like I had much choice. And nothing there really drew me in.
I just notice there's 4 volumes scanslated now, though, so maybe I'll give it another go.

Well, the beginning really was fairly lackluster, but it became better as time went on, which made the cancellation all the worse.
-
Buso Renkin was okay IMO.
Anyways, gonna check this manga out as well. Looks pretty cool.
-
Is Egore in this?
If not, then it has no worth.
-
I liked what I read of Buso Renkin, but I'm not sure whether or not to check this series out. I've never seen or read anything having to do with Frankenstein, so I won't recognize whatever elements are put in that should be recognizable by those who are familiar with it. It's worth giving it a chance, though.
-
I haven't read Buso Renkin, but the moon guy seems pretty awesome.
I was disappointed that Gun Blaze West was cancelled so fast, because I wanted to see him do a cowboy manga.
I'll definitely check this one out.
-
One volume is more than enough time to decide whether or not you like a manga. If you know that you don't care about reading the rest after that volume, it's probably a good sign that the manga isn't for you!

P.S. Kenshin is dumb and Watsuki sucks
-
Is that why you did over a volume of Shaman King
-
Yeah, it took about two vols for SK to suck LOL!!!!!!
-
u mad that I think Watsuki is a hack! Plus I"s, corny as it is, still has hot chicksas. Watsuki has none!
-
Stephen I love you like a brother
I'll admit that managing to read and translate all of I"s is some kind of herculean feat. You either have incredible patience, or you're some kind of masochistic monster.
i refuse to read anything that has a woman predominately featured on the cover
-
Yeah, it's pretty dumb, but that was a long time ago. Anyhow, there are probably people who want to talk about a Frankenstein manga instead, so I'll stop posting now.
-
What the hell is this about anyway? The picture finally loads for me, but I don't see any Frankenstein shit…just some bishies.
-
@Cap'n:

What if it's an OLD woman?
Okay, sorry. I know what you're talking about.

-
Does anyone know what the first two Embalming one-shots were exactly about? Other than the Frankenstein style 'resurrection' theme.

On the one hand that is true, but on the other hand, some ppl may need to read MORE than one Vol. to know why some series are hyped, like Berserk.
I myself wasn't THAT much into until i knew why Guts was such a saddist, and then I liked him, and after that my fandom for this series skyrocketed. At any rate, if Frankenstien doesn't look ugly I might not bother with this…
-
Rurouni Kenshin and Busou Renkin [though Papillion was funny] both sucked. A lot. Not really a fan of anything Watsuki does__.
-__Is expecting Frankenstein to be some smooth-faced teenager with a few undead grafts-

I'm going to have to agree about Berserk. Although I thought the early volumes were okay, they definitely aren't a good indicator of the overall quality of the series.
I like Watsuki because I really like character designs. It's also neat how they are often influenced by American superheroes and fighting game characters.
-
Isn't it weird how rare that is?
I'd like to give this a chance, because Kenshin was at least entertaining, but of course, I'm gonna have to see something that looks interesting in it first.
-
I actually really enjoyed Kenshin back in the day, though I couldn't really tell you why. I never checked out Busou Renkin because the concept didn't appeal to me whatsoever, though.
It's a bit too early to make anything out of this, but it just might tickle my curiosity enough to get me to check it out.
-
Yeah, I did like it too back in the days. Besides I think it was my first shonen series. So I have a soft spot for Watsuki. What I still like about the series is that Kenshin is particularly old for a protagonist of a boys' comic. I haven't checked out this series yet but if it's not stared by a teenager I might have some hopes for it.
-
I never got why a lot of people seem to vehemently hate Kenshin
I mean it's nothing phenomenal, but it's still a fun series definitely above a lot of the garbage that's been in Jump.

Chapters up, the series looks pretty iffy, but at least none of the bishies are Frankenstein. Unless the guy all the way on the right is Frankenstein (pages 2-3) but I doubt it.
The whole dagger in the mouth thing reeks Zoro. But I'll give the series a chance, especially if it's monthly.
-
How many people are mentioning Frankenstein thinking that it is the monster and not the creator. I hope nobody.
Anywho, time to check this out.
-
I hope there's a monster in it though.
Going to download it now.
EDIT:
Looks like there was a monster in it.

I've never read the Manga, but I thought the Anime was the bees-neez when it was on Toonami. Especially that awesome "da da…dadadadadadadada da!" battle song.
-
I always enjoyed Kenshin because it was so goofy and just generally a lot of fun to watch. Right when you get into that historical fiction-y 19th century Japan feel, HEY LOOK A GUY WITH A CANNON FOR AN ARM
Plus, Saito.
-
Everything except the first arc of Kenshin was pure gold in mine eyes.
Also, this manga doesn't seem all that great, judging by the RAW…Then again, it doesn't seem all that bad. I'll probably read it if I get bored.
Plus, Saito.
AKU. SOKU. ZAN.
-
I'm glad there was a monster in the first chapter. It looks alright so far, but I would still rather read a cowboy manga.
-
Just thumbed through it. I love the way Watsuki drew The Creature.
I also thought it was funny how that doctor was wearing.. lingerie.
-
The monster did look pretty awesome.
It looks pretty decent, I like the main character's design pretty well, and that one girl reminds me of Dorothy from The Big O.
-
Where are you reading this?

I've never seen any of his other works besides Rurouni Kenchin. So theres more than one JUMP! ? A Weekly and a Monthly?
-
There's also Ultra Jump, which serializes Bastard!!, Jojo's Bizarre Adventure, GUNNM, Tenjou Tenge, and a few others.
