@Smudger:
i understand your point of view. After all… just because someone is strong, doesn't mean they want to have that role or lifestyle in the pirating world. I think gold roger and luffys concept of just being free, makes it clear that their are other ideals followed by people in the pirating world.
I actually wonder what the point of calling yourself a warlord or yonkou is, if it only makes you a target, or forces you into some role or image. What's wrong with just wanting to be free to do as you wish, and not have any name attached to you.
that's correct
even Newgate was the strongest man .. and have the dream of family
about the second half of your speech .. you do have to remember that we are in the age of piracy
and every pirate in this era have dreams : the men's dreams never dies
to achieve their dream pirates have to gain power to protect themselves from all the dangers
zoro has to be stronger to defeat mihawk
whitebeard has to rule the sea so that he can build a safer place for his "sons"
shanks love to sail and feel free .. so he took a part of the new world for himself
thats why eveyone take names .. for reason .. teach took shishibukai so he can enter impel down
and with all this .. pirates always like competition
for ex Burjess ( man of teach ) at moquetown claimed that he is "champion" .. and that's what pissed off zoro and luffy
