I just co-made a godly fritada with my dad: Onions, garlic, zucchini, mushrooms, spinach, and some herbs he grew. It's true what they say: Collaboration in the kitchen does wonders. One day, I'm gonna make my ultimate fritada when he's not around. (I freaking sound like Azuma Kazuma from "Yakitate! Japan)
What can you cook/bake?
-
-
Sushi, onigiri, and bubble tea…recipes that don't really involve heavy cooking. I prefer playing with knives and spoons.
-
I dont like to brag at all (Really I hate it).
But when it comes to cooking/baking….yeah........I can kick major ass.
If it werent for my parents, I would already be in culinary school.
I just LOVE x 100000 cooking.
I cant cook everything (I dont thing anyone can), but I can cook a lot of stuff, and can easily follow a recipe. Baking is a bit harder though, its not my cooking forte.
I hope to open a restaurant of my own one day as well.
Cooking = Kicks major ass
Cleaning the dishes after you are done = sucks big time

I love to bake, cookies, pies, anything like that. At Thanksgiving I always make an apple pie and Hello Dollies.
I also cook a very good country breakfast with bacon, fried eggs, biscuts and gravy. All the bad stuff that clogs up your arteries. Mmmm..
-
But, skip on the peppers, onions, and mustard please.
Dude, you just cut the flavor in half… >_<
-
sweet, thanks for posting those, Bevin! I wanna try my hand at making those next week… I actually don't have a muffin pan, but with the store credit that i have left over from the return I made, I can buy one at my work! Actually, there is a baking 1-0-1 set that I could get, it has all the stuff you need to bake whatever...
-
Glad you guys are excited about the muffins, I hope they turn out well for you. One thing, about the lime, key limes are waaay more potent tasting than regular limes, so if you use regular lime juice, you may need to add more, which means your liquid ratio's going to have to be adjusted. Or you can just have really mild ones. XD
-
ah, I wondered why the "key" I've heard the term before but didn't understand.
cricket, what are hello dollies?
-
I an answer that question. Hello dollies is a bar type cookie with a grahm cracker crust and alternate layers of chocolate chips, pecans, and coconut flakes. The recipies I see repeats the layering process a second time. On top of the bars you have sweeten condensed milk. Hello dollies is also known as seven layer bars.
-
Maybe I could try using the blueberry-lime muffin recipe, but use it as a bread.
-
bread and muffins are different doughs. it would make a nice cake though. :)
I might use up some of my black berries and goose berries too, that are sitting around in my fridge.

Blackberry pie is amazing! They can only be outclassed by Dewberries.
-
dewberries? I have never heard of them. are they even real?
-
i've never had dew berries. have you had saskatoon berries? :3
I dun like pie though. crust is always so dry. bleah. -
Enough so I can live basically.
Pasta with Sauce
Chicken
Steak (I usually get lucky)
Beef
A lot of other meats
Mac n Cheese
Pizzas
Tortillas
Ramen in a bowl -.-
Sausages
Broccoli
Asparagus
Carrots
Stew
Brownies :)
Anything else ends up in someone else's death. -
My local store just started carrying gooseberries and I'm curious about them, but I'm not sure what to do with them. Never had one, y'see. I think they're cute, though, like little watermelons. XD

What do dew berries taste like out of curiosity? The only berries that I can find are strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, and pomogranates.

they are like little grapes with a bit of a sour taste. I don't know what to do with them either. I put some in my salad the other day.
-
Here are some gooseberry recipes. http://www.gingerich.com/recipes/goose/01.html
It's too bad that the only type of berries that our stores carry are blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, raspberries, occasionally gooseberries, and pomogranates. I would like to try the other types.
-

NO, I JUST MADE THEM UP! rolls eyes
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dewberry

I can't say I have. They sound very… Canadian.
What do dew berries taste like out of curiosity?
They kinda taste like blackberries, only more acidic/sour. They're more common in the southern states. Dewberry pie is mainly a southern thing… I'm sure everyone from Texas has heard of it.
-

They're native to Saskatchewan. my Ontario friends haven't even tried them. kind of like a cranberry/blueberry mix. I'll have to pick some stuff up to show you guys when I go back home. (sorry, I'm just proud of my home province) ^_^
-

OH! is that what those are? I always thought they were raspberries or blackberries. got plenty of those in virginia, but they always get sprayed with insecticides not meant for crops or anything like that…so we barely eat them:sad:
-

Maybe that's why people from Texas are so fucking crazy…
-
My specialty is pasta - I'm very good at it and odds are what I eat once a week is better and healither than some of the stuff you lot can find in a gourmet restaurant.
Can cook green veggies, rice and poultry. Learned how to smoke barbeque recently as well.
-
Pizza,Waffles,Fries, one time i made Pigs in a blanket
-
I can make a mean spaghetti
-
Maybe that's why people from Texas are so fucking crazy…
Lol, I just had to quote that…I thought it was funny.
I can bake cakes...cookies...cornbread...and yeah...I don't like using that premade junk that they keep producing b/c everyone's a freakin' workaholic and can't take the time out to bake with/for their families.
I can cook up some breakfast, sausages, pancakes, eggs and yeah...
I can pretty much cook anything as long as someone tells me the basic guidelines for what I have to do...>.> I don't think cooking is difficult.
-
i baked bevin's muffins! (the blueberry ones) They're good. I used 1/2 a cup of regular lime juice. I think that's good enough for me. perfect flavor. Thanks bevin. I tried a few in the microwave. didn't turn out as well, but I'm sure they could be better with a bit of tinkering. They weren't browned. and they were a little dry. good thing I only baked 4 in the mic. They didn't rise a lot. is that how that recipie suposed to turn out?
-
Hmmm, I haven't made them in a while so I can't remember how much mine rose. I don't recall them being particularly small, though, or at least any moreso than the other muffins I make. But I also don't think mine got very brown either, so that might be normal.
-
ho, well the ones in the oven browned nicely. I'm just stating how they bake in the microwave. microwaves don't brown food.
ya, i filled them at least 3/4's full, and they barely rose above the top, if at all. None of them had muffin caps. It's ok, they still tasted good. I just expected them to rise a little more. must be my funky canadian ingredients or something. :P
I'm gonna turn into a muffin if I keep eating them. I haven't even had supper. lol

I just made up a dish of epic proportions! Bushido's Brutal Beantastic Boil, I call it! It's like beanie weenies, only BRUTAL!!!
I took 2 LARGE cans of Bush's Bold & Spicy Baked Beans & dumped them into a large pot. I added salt to taste, a dash of chili powder, & a generous amount of Spicy Montreal Steak Seasoning.
Then I threw 2 packs of hot dogs on the George Foreman until decently blackened. I sliced them up & dumped them into the pot. Then I grilled Half a red onion & 3 bigass jalapeno peppers, & then diced them up & threw them into the pot. Then I chopped some cilantro & threw it in.
Bring it to a boil & add some tobasco sauce, and then drop it down to a simmer. Let it simmer for about 20 minutes, and viola!
WARNING!!! IT'S BRUTALLY SPICY!!! MAY CAUSE FIRE-RHEA!!! O_O
-
That sounds scary, Bushi-kun ^^; And I can usually handle spicy food.
Today, I took a trip to Central Market… I had the urge to cook something tonight, and these little pizza crusts caught my eye... So I took that, put some shredded parmasan/whatever cheese (its a five cheese thing, forget the rest) and topped it with mushrooms and then a little bit of olive oil... I baked it at 350 degrees for like 10 minutes... It turned out rather tastey! I'll buy a larger pizza crust next time and experiment with different toppings and such.... But this is good for dinner right now ^_^
-
My mom taught me how to make tom yum from scratch a few days ago. That was awesome, because now I don't have to depend on those processed pastes anymore. I only have to use fresh ingredients <3
And it was surprisingly easy too. All you need is some chicken stock, fish sauce, lemongrass, galangal, chilli, mushrooms, Kaffir lime leaves, lime juice and meat of your choice. Chuck them in a pot together, and let the bugger boil. The End.
(Unless you're working with fish or prawns, 'cause then you're gonna have to put them in after everything else is boiled. Also, if you don't want it too spicy, put the chilli in afterwards, since boiling the chilli will make the spiciness come out more)
-
I grilled some really good burgers for my 2 coworkers this weekend, had a fun bbq. It was nice when one of them (who is notorious for not trying new food, and sticking to Mac n Cheese/pizza as his main food group) said they were the best burgers he's ever had.
-
Watch me boast! I work part time in the kitchen of a family restaurent (not a fastfood chain, no) So I'm Franky-SUPER-awesome at cooking! Funny thing is, when I'm at home, I mainly eat oatmeals for dinner ect.
But I sure rock at making it for others. ;)
-
I made lunch today after work ^^
I made some tortellini soup… only with a few things done differently than usual.... I boiled the pasta first, and while that was going, I pan fried some of those sliced mushrooms in some olive oil and added some black pepper for taste... And then after slightly draining the pasta, I added in the roasted red pepper soup, there was only half of it left from yesterday, but with the little bit of water already in there, it makes enough and it still tastes amazing~
Anyway, I added in the mushrooms, and voila~ Tortellini soup with olive oil sautee'd mushrooms~
-
All about the stir fry's!!! I made some fried rice, grilled salmon with a hint of lemon, and aspargus/butter with a dash of pepper. Accompanied with lemonade!!!!!!! and some ice cream in the freezer.
That's what I made for dinner.
-
A day or two ago, I cooked chicken-flavored ramen for the first time! Don't get me wrong, I'm only a high school student.
-
Anything you order at a pub, I can make from scratch. Just one of the many convienences of working at a golfcourse kitchen. Of course, most of the food requires little skill or understanding of specific recipes to make, so it's not too much to brag about.
The deep-fried pickles are good though.
-
You can make Sheppard's pie?
-
I'm more of a baker than anything else, though I can occasionally pull off more dinner and lunch based dishes such as Chicken Marsala and (when our grill is working) spicy home-made hamburgers with lots of garlic salt, onion powder, and of course cayenne pepper mixed in with the meat.
Recently I've been dying to make a certain cookie recipe I learned in my freshman home-economics class a couple of years back; though I can't find the recipe anywhere…. tear The recipe in question is for Pumpkin Oat-Chocolate chip cookies, which earned lots of disgusted looks when it was introduced to my home-ec class but everyone soon changed their opinions of the cookie when they actually had a bite of one. It's very easy to get addicted to these cookies because of how wonderful they taste. :3
goes back to looking for the recipe -

Today was fun! My friend from work and I decided that we were gonna make pizzas today… from scratch. So we went to the store, bought some yeast and more mozarella, and whatever else we didn't have... And pretty much made everything ourselves except for the sauce and toppings. It was so much fun!
Here are the results!
! His pizza, sausage, mushrooms, garlic and of course cheese
only reason his burned is because we followed the instructions that said preheat oven to 500 degrees O_O apparently that was too much….
! Mine had sausage, mushrooms, bean sprouts and added shredded asiago cheese <3. Also, I made mine kind of a stuffed crust. I put some of that asiago cheese in it.
! Both turned out pretty good for our first time! The crust on mine could've had more flavor, but at least I know how to fix that next time XD Other than that, I'm happy with how it turned out! ^^
! Have a slice! XD
-
hey, my slice has a bite out of it
-
Well, my Dad's an excellent cook, and he taught me a few things.
Chicken curry, sweet mashed potato, cottage pie, sunday roast, shortbread biscuits, scones, pizza and various other things.
-
what is cottage pie? (wonders if it has anything to do with cottage cheese?)

Ever heard of sheppard's pie? It's like that.
Basically it's a layer of minced beef with golden brown mashed potato layered and baked over it. Usually served with vegetables. Very nice.
-
ah, sheppards pie. yum
