I was blown away by this chapter! It seemed so different! Maybe cause it wasn't dragged out, but it felt awesome! AWESOME!
Maybe it was also so great for me cause I hate Absalom, and he got fucked up big time!

so when brook "purifies" the zombies does the shadow go back to the owner without moria telling them to, or do they just float around or something?
There's still Oz. It's just a matter of chapters before he becomes "obedient" like it has already happened to Dogpen and Gigolo.
oh, also everyone is expecting oz to become obedient, i think it will take more than time to make luffys shadow forget. i was just letting my mind wander, but what if oz fights moria?

Brooke said that the shadows most likely go back to their former masters after
he purified taleran, but it seemed like he didn't know for certain.
I hope that helps.
When he purified Talaran, he said, "return to your master." I thought he meant Moria, but apparently he means the shadow's owner?

That's the problem. Oz is a conqueror, not a kid with a dream, so I doubt Moria could control him like the others. Anyways, if Oz tries to conquer once again the world, then he would like to start with Thriller Bark, wich would mean problems for both Moria and Luffy.
Maybe, just maybe…..Luffy would need Moria's help to defeat Oz, who's by far too powerful for even Gear3, and I doubt Gear2 would do more than mosquito bites on Oz...
I am not really surprised how almost every member in this thread was bashing Gekko Moria. Now all of the sudden members jump on Moria's BUKAI'S (if you know what I mean).

this is a really interesting perspective, because i was thinking the opposite, that possibly luffy will need ozs help to defeat moria. who knows?
Am I the only one who thinks that Moria is going to be easily defeated by one of the Gears and saved by Oz who at the same time will be the real final "enemy"?

To answer your question: No
But it would totally suck if that actually happened, not to mention that it
would also cheapen the title of being a Schichibukai
Well said WeAllEatFood.^^^
Kids these days. It's getting so anybody can become a Shichibukai.
Anybody can become a World power?^^^
Does that mean I get to become an Emperor and an Admiral too?
Edit: I like your sig, It's a Lion.
Well said WeAllEatFood.^^^
Um….thanks, but I think Aldrich said it better in the spoiler thread why it would be retarded for Odz to just come in and kil Moria.
Moria is obviously a huge threat, given his bounty. It'd be a bit ridiculous to have Odz just walk in and stomp his face.
That, and Moria is too awesome to lose like that. He'd slap Odz, then piss in his eyes.
Moria obviously has such a large bounty because of his ship and all of the inhabitants. If Moria wanted to, I bet all of his zombies, him, Oz, general zombies, Absalom, Perona and ghosts, and Hogback could pull an Enies Lobby.

It's almost certain the shadow goes back to its original owner. It seems that Moria and his crew underestimated a lot of things. Like the fact that someone (Brook) could discover the purifying technique.
I'm thinking that Oz could eat some salt by himself, the same way the zombie that Brook saw did. After all, Oz still hasn't been instructed on his zombie state and what makes him vulnerable.
Am I the only one who thinks that Moria is going to be easily defeated by one of the Gears and saved by Oz who at the same time will be the real final "enemy"?
Again I'm foreseeing something different, still based on Moria underestimation: Luffy will defeat Moria easily; then Oz will appear and Moria will laugh at Luffy telling obedient Oz to attack… where Luffy will use Gear 3 and OHKO Oz
My God, Moria's expressions are hilarious, I can't wait to see what else he can do. Also, do you guys think Ryuuma and Absalom are strong enough for Zoro or Sanji to use Asura or Diable Jambe? I'd rather not see their power ups again so soon, mostly because Asura is just a tiny bit over the top for such a short arc.
Just a bit.

I'm just that much of a trendsetter.

I hope Absalom and Ryuuma could counter those "final atacks" if they are even used, the same goes for Luffy's gears, it's obvious that neither Moria nor Oz could be defeated with a Jet or Giant atack, and there's also the thing of the side effects..
PS: Did Luffy used Fireworks against the bats? :p
Wow, another great chapter. This arc doesn't dissappoint, though quite a few people are afraid it will. How great is Moria's ability, not to mention his great facial expressions. It's nice how Oda takes stuff that may seem lame at first, but after anywhile he does incredible stuff with them. I'm looking forward to this fight, as based on Croc it has to be some kind of epic. Also, to everone who said Moria would be a OHKO, ever see that Will Ferrell skit where he says "suck on that," over and over?
Also, the Sanji and Abosolom fight is great–what an asskicking. And, judgingfrom the translaiton ,it's not over. Two questions, if Absolom's ability to turn invisible is called "skating" and assuming it's a DF, what fruit is it? Also, what's that thing that Sanji is talking about in the last panel? His shadow? It'll probably be mentioned in the next chapter.

Moria getting a foot in his lazy ass was the best part of this chapter.

I think the "Skating" refers to him moving around rapidly.

And I'm foreseeing other thing: Moria will fart in Luffy's face and kick his ass to Pluton.
These Gear 3 prediction and "Moria is easy target" are getting old. It is since the chapter where we saw Moria by the first time (449).
Still… I wonder if he'll be forced to fight personally so soon...
Moria is going to urinate on everybody's eyeballs. We've been over this.
I'm going to urinate on somebody's pillow if the people who just two weeks ago were saying Moria was a pushover don't stop morphing into total fanboys.
Usopp will save the day when Luffy gets owned by Oz. Who else can actually shoot at Oz's mouth? :P
Anyways, I still think Luffy will somehow use the Giant Lamp on Moria's room, if they even go that far in their fight.

They just don't understand the magnificence of his Penis Face.
Psh, more like football face; lookit them stitches. I wonder if he got those from the mysterious "Kaidoh"?
(Okay, he got the stitches from Hogback, but I meant whatever wound required those stitches.)

Dont worry i still hate him…
Dont worry i still hate him…
There's no middle ground, is there?? Right now, I think Moria is an intriguing Villain du Jour. Depending on how things play out, he could be as fascinating as Crocodile, or as forgettable as Bellamy. We'll just have to see.
I see no reason to hate Moria… he's just got a different style from most super-villains.
It doesn't really make sense for a Shichibukai to be an easy kill, regardless of how they fight. And I'm pretty sure you can like Moria and still think he's weak.
I'm also pretty sure that after seeing a character in action for a few weeks you can change your opinion from when he was first shown.
I've always supported Moria against the haters, no flipflopping here.
there is middle ground (i dont really hate him. its such a strong word… it might not even count as dislike) i just wanted to make sure you understood i was never going to be a fanboy. Not unless he get his old dentures back and loose the morning hairdue.
(i didnt say he would be a pushover though. i only said he would be physically weeak.. meaning relying on his DF power... but i doubted he had anything special except makeing zombies going for him.. I dont know if i count or not..)
It's just the reactions that bug me. Instead of saying, "Wait and see," some people are like, "Durrrr, I hate dis guy!" when in fact they've seen him do what? Sit in an armchair? Yeah, that demonstrates his character and/or fighting abilities.
I was iffy on him at first, as he seemed like he might be a little too wacky looking, but I've warmed up to him considerably.
Ewwwwww.
it demonstrates his character (that and the moto "you do it")… thats enough for me to dislike somebody.
fighting ability/style doesnt bother me the slightest

Same, though I admit at first glance I was surprised at his design. Then it grew on me and I realized he looked like an awesome Dragon Quest villain or something. And now that we've seen his personality more, I like him much more than guys like Croc.
I disliked his weird, penis-neck/face combination when he was first revealed, and Oda cleverly led us to believe we had seen the extent of the Kage Kage no Mi's power… thus, to Moria there is MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE!! EXCEPT THAT I DON'T HAVE ANY!!! BONE JOKE!! Hahahahahahaha!
Winning is all that matters.
If you can't defeat a man's underlings, then you can't defeat him. That's your problem, not the opponent's.

That's what I like about him, it sets him apart from villains like Crocodile, who are more stereotypical and not as interesting (which isn't to say I don't like Croc, he a great villain). It's like he got all of the traits of Enel's that I liked, without the ones that made him annoying.
It makes sense: why do any more than you have to?
If I had people like Perona and Oz working for me, I wouldn't do much either.
…Hell, I probably wouldn't be on this forum. (Just kidding.)
Just curious here: Gorlom, why would you think a giant (Moria) was physically weak, after they way they have been portrayed???

Well, why I hate laziness too, keep in mind that the "you" that Moria is talking about is sometimes a shadow clone of himself.
There's a difference between lazy and unproductive. If you can conquer the world while sittng on your fat ass all day, then more power to you.
I think we've just seen the tip of the iceberg as far as Gecko Moria goes. I like him a lot so far so anything new he does is just icing on the cake. ;D
I wonder if Moria can alter his shadow's shape in other ways? Or perhaps add other people's shadows to it (although the only person their is Luffy, so I don't see that happening).
I think we've just seen the tip of the iceberg as far as Gecko Moria goes. I like him a lot so far so anything new he does is just icing on the cake. ;D
Too true. We've only seen the start of his abilities. I really wonder what Moria's shadow powers can do when he get serious, cause his attacks in this chapter are awesome and yet Moria's not even trying yet.
Also, remember that Absolom said in this chapter that Hogback not only gave Abs that face, but a super strong body as well? So, it sounds like Hogback has given Absolom his power. That might also foreshadow the power that say, Hogback and Cindry have as well, if Hogback can just give people strong bodies.
He gave Absalom the body of a beast.
Anybody still wondering what those stitches around Hogback's face are from? Like, maybe he changed his face to protect his identity?
I wonder, is it moria now shadowless? I mean, it seams like his shadow is separated from his body while fighting. this will put luffy and moria on the same level (speaking about shadows).
Nami. Nami looks like she is shadowless or under drugs. I think shadowless is more likely.
About Moria… I think he's some tricks but he won't be able to escape luffy's anger... I still hope in a sort of feedback control on his zombies...
Finally, I know it's weird, but absalom reminds me of franky: both of them have "artificial" body. his weapons right now can be anything even if I stick on a DF's feature.
