I really think you are doing an excellent job. Hell as of now the only name I really don't like it Climate Baton. Not a fan of it at all. But great job on the other names you changed for us.
I actually like Climate Baton. It's kinda catchy. It's better then weather enforcer for sure. That and it isn't a "WTF?!" since it was explained.

I'll say it one more time: Nami's weapon WAS called Clima Tact in the videogames. SO either bandai or 4kids left the name unchanged, which is why it's strange that they're leaving some name changes to stay consistant with the eff ups and not some(accurate ones at that)!

I HATE the ZOLO thing,but there's not much that can be done about it. So I have no choice but to stop bitching. That was the only MAJOR issue I had. Besides most real fans will still call him/know him as ZORO anyways.

As Mato pointed out, "Tact" pronounced in Japanese comes out as "Takuto" which means Baton, and I'm sure Oda deliberately called it that.
Ah, I didn't catch that before! That makes perfect sense now. I wasn't aware of the meaning of "takuto". It's kind of like how "Poketto Monsutaa" ended up "Pokemon".
Regarding Tact, although I don't care what any version wants to call it, I personally call it Tact since we've seen it pop up in English, not to mention the kanji used for the weapon itself is: 棒 or 'bou' as in Donatello's weapon. Means pole, rod or stick.
Considering the multi-lingual aspect of it and since (most importantly) the yomigana is Tact, I personally leave it as is.
Not that I care what other translators care to do with it.
Also keep in mind that a タクト or takuto is not a large twirling baton like you might imagine. It's specifically a conductor's baton. Like in Zelda.
Based on that context, I can see "Baton" to be a fitting term.
Ahh I was reading some of the old English Shonen Jumps just a second ago.
I really liked it a lot, its a lot better than the current Viz translations and if it stayed like this I feel the OP manga would be a bit more popular. I know cussing=/=mature, but the occasional curse fits a lot and adds a bit more realism. If someone is about to go kill you, I doubt anyone would say "You creep!" or "Curse you!" In the old prints of Shonen Jump, there were lines like Buggy saying "HOW COULD YOU LET THE MAP OF THE GRAND LINE GET STOLEN!? And just when we were about to head there…and raise some hell!" or "Who am I?" "PIRATE CAPTAIN BUGGY SIR!" "DAMN STRAIGHT!"
And of course there was Zoro also. Even if they do not use Zoro, if the Funi uncut dubs are like the old Viz translations, I will enjoy it a ton. Even if it doesn't contain cussing, if it just has more meaningful dialoge.

"Sasuke" is the romanization of his Japanese name "サスケ", this is three syllables. The second syllable, which is the "su" in the name, has a more whispered sound to it as opposed to the "SOO" sound you might hear in English.
Just watch the Japanese episodes and listen to how they pronounce the name.

Sometimes in Japanese vowles (especially u and i) aren't pronounced. Another example would be the word yoshi from One Piece (and a lot of other things too). Written out it would be spelled yoshi but it is pronounced yosh. Also, as Buuhan pointed out, Enel is another example.

I think that most have calmed down now. I am looking forward to getting the DVDs so I can see all of Mato's hard work with the sub. It will also be great to have the great picture quality. Also with a new dub cast I am sure that the English track will be great too. It will be so nice to be able to have the original Japanese track and the new English one.
Anyway I am sure that no matter what some things get translated as I am sure that it will work out. So many of the real problems have been worked out for the best. I am sure that with any of the other ones they will find a way to make it work too.
I have been to a Naruto board where some of the VAs talk to the fans. At first the fans were a bit negative of the dub but as time went on the fans started to get more positive. So I think that we still have a very good chance of getting some more or the behind the scenes people here and some of the VAs.
I think that we have been very lucky to have another chance to get a new dub and I think that we have be even luckier to have our concerns listened to. I think that it has been a very productive effort on our parts and the part of Funimation to finally get One Piece on the right track in America. So I think that things will start to work out much better.
Now I am just really excited to find out who is going to get the play the Strawhats now. I am also looking forward to finding out who is going to be the rest of the characters as they come up. So we have a lot to be looking forward to now.

A friend of mine was genuinely disappointed that it wasn't int he 4kids version. She was further disappointed to hear what he actually sounded like.
It's…odd, ya know. We hate most of the voices, but knowing that they are gonna be replaced...oddly makes me sad even tho I hate them. I gotta admit, after some time I may need to listen to Usopp's 4kids voice for nostaglic reasons.
